TUSD has an ethnic-studies department but no math teacher for Valencia Middle.

     One of the great shortcomings of liberalism is that it fails to understand that resources are finite. Every budget has some limit, even if it is a very large one. Choices must be made. The Tucson Unified School District has enough funds for an ethnic-studies department that includes a Mexican-American/RAZA Studies program. I wonder if the students at Valencia who want to learn math are placated by the fact that the district is spending $2,700,000 on its ethnic-studies department.

     The news has caught the attention of a local Tucson blogger who volunteered to teach the kids.
