Shawnna Bolick Receives Endorsement from

Former U.S. Congressman John Shadegg

Phoenix, AZ- May 21, 2014– Today, Shawnna Bolick, Republican candidate for Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 28, received the endorsement of former U.S. Congressman John Shadegg.

“Arizona needs smart, principled, and sensible leaders, and that’s why I enthusiastically endorse Shawnna Bolick for the State Legislature,” stated Congressman John Shadegg.

“I am thrilled to have Congressman Shadegg’s endorsement,” exclaimed Bolick. “Congressman Shadegg served Arizona well during his tenure and I hope to bring the same level of constituent service to our legislative district once elected.  Shadegg and I share many of the same conservative values including keeping government limited and reducing government waste.  I can’t help but wonder what our country would look like today if Congressman Shadegg had been elected Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.  I look forward to having Shadegg’s advice in solving state-federal issues.”

Shawnna Bolick has lived in Legislative District 28 for 13 years.  Shawnna and her husband, Clint, have two children, Ryne (12) and Kali (9), plus their six year old rescued greyhound, Beary Goldwater, living in the shadows of Squaw Peak.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker Speech at 2011 Goldwater Institute Dinner

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker recently spoke at the 2011 Goldwater Institute Dinner. Here is his speech including an introduction by former Congressman John Shadegg.

Former Congressman John Shadegg Endorses Matt Salmon

CONTACT: Robert Johnson

“[Matt] recognizes that growth of government constricts this nation’s fundamental value of individual liberty.”

EAST VALLEY – Former Congressman Matt Salmon announced today that Former Congressman John Shadegg has endorsed his bid for Congress. Shadegg was elected to Congress in 1994 alongside Salmon as part of the “Republican Revolution.” He is a long-time fiscal conservative who has fought for lower taxes and against government waste. Shadegg was also a leading advocate in Congress and in the National Conservative Movement for limited government.

Shadegg said, “I worked with Matt Salmon for many years in Congress. He recognizes that growth of government constricts this nation’s fundamental value of individual liberty. He is a solid conservative and I know he will fight to reduce government spending, bring federal tax relief to hardworking Americans, and re-establish state and individual rights. Courage is a rare thing in Washington and Matt Salmon has proven time and again he has it. He has proven that he will work to change Washington without Washington changing him. I support Matt because we need someone who knows his way around and won’t be intimidated by the old bulls and the power elite. You won’t need to bet on Matt because of his rhetoric you can count on him because of his actions.”

“I am truly thrilled to receive the support of Congressman Shadegg,” said Salmon. “He is a great statesman and was truly a model for fiscal responsibility while he served in Congress. I cherished the time I was able to serve with him and pledge to continue his commitment fiscal conservatism, lower taxes and limited government.”

About Former Congressman John Shadegg
John Shadegg, a native Arizonan, grew up in the shadow of Barry Goldwater, one of our country’s and Arizona’s most revered statesmen. Shadegg’s father, Stephen, was Senator Goldwater’s campaign manger and speechwriter. From these two men, Shadegg learned that the most important thing in politics, and in life, is integrity. Throughout his fourteen years representing Arizona’s Third Congressional District, Shadegg has remained true to his principles and acted in the best interest of Arizona and the nation, regardless of consequence.

About Matt Salmon
Matt Salmon was first elected to the United States Congress in 1994 and served until 2000, honoring his term limit pledge. A proud fiscal conservative, Salmon was rated in the top five among all 535 members of the House and Senate by Citizen’s Against Government Waste for all six years he was in office. He is a lifetime member of the NRA with an A+ rating and also earned a 100% rating by the National Right to Life. He was also the proud recipient of the American Cancer Society’s “Top National Elected Official” award.

Jim Waring to Announce for CD-3

Senator Jim Waring will make an official announcement at 1 PM today regarding his entry into the Congressional District 3 race. Waring, who is currently running for State Treasurer, is expected to announce withdrawing from the Treasurer’s race leaving the primary a little less crowded. (State Senator Barbara Leff and former State Representative Ted Carpenter are also seeking the Treasurer’s seat. Senator Thayer Verschoor has yet to form an official committee for State Treasurer.)

Still likely to announce for CD-3,  is State Senator Pamela Gorman. State Representative Sam Crump has already announced his intention to seek the seat being vacated by John Shadegg.

On the Democratic side, Phoenix Mayor, Phil Gordon, is seriously considering a bid for the seat.

Bonus Time for AZ Congressional Staffers

Well, as always it’s party time for Congress, and the party never stops.

PHOENIX — While dealing with the “greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression”, seven Arizona congressional representatives handed out around $300,000 in staff bonuses in late 2008.

  • Former Republican Rep. Rick Renzi, who had already been indicted on fraud charges and was serving the final days of his term, was the most generous, splitting $136,000 among 12 staff members.
  • Among House members still in office, Rep. Raúl Grijalva, a Democrat, was tops, distributing $52,000 to 16 employees.
  • Republican Jeff Flake, who gave $36,000 to 13 employees
  • Democrat Harry Mitchell gave $38,000 to 10 employees.
  • Republican Rep. Trent Franks gave $22,000 to nine employees.
  • Republican John Shadegg gave $24,000 to nine employees.
  • Democrat Ed Pastor gave $13,500 to nine employees.
  • Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick took office in 2009, replacing Renzi. An e-mailed statement from chief of staff Michael Frias said Kirkpatrick likely would award bonuses for 2009, though a final decision hadn’t been made as of November.

But it’s not just about the bonuses. It’s about the overall staff sizes of those who “represent” us. Here’s the current breakdown for the AZ Representatives through 9/30/09.

D1 – Ann Kirkpatrick (D) $469,372
D2 – Trent Franks ® $727,127
D3 – John Shadegg ® $790,536
D4 – Ed Pastor (D) $607,993
D5 – Harry Mitchell (D) $654,128
D6 – Jeff Flake ® $728,819
D7 – Raul Grijalva (D) $808,687
D8 – Gabrielle Giffords (D) $761,579

That adds up to $5.5 million ANNUALLY.  Don’t know about you, but whenever I call my congressman’s office to get an answer regarding legislation, I can NEVER get a atrraight answer.  Just the usual ‘I can pass your message along to the congressman”.   That’s a lot of money for staffers who do nothing but act as answering machines and email spammers. So the next time your congressman tells you he’s down with the struggle of the American people or he feels the pain and challenges of “folks at the grass-roots” level, remember they are still doling out tax-dollar bonus money for their “peeps”. Nice work if you can get.

John Shadegg Hits Back in Latest Ad

Republican Congressman John Shadegg came out swinging at liberal east coast lawyer Bob Lord in his latest campaign commercial. Here is that ad:

Shadegg Lights Up the Lines!

I was privledged enough to participate in a massive conference call to Republicans this evening sponsored by John Shadegg. I was able to express the frustration that many of us feel about the GOP not fighting back hard enough against these Democratic nobodies. Many other callers expressed the same.

If you were on the line and did not get to voice your question or comment, please feel free to leave it here and the Shadegg campaign will most certainly here from you.

Finally, I urge you to get out and work for these candidates! If you want to keep your taxes lower. If you don’t want an extremist pro-abortion Democrat. If you don’t want Democrats to socialize the economy and hand out your tax dollars to their friends, Then you need to get involved NOW!

Our Republican candidats need your volunteer help in their campaign offices. They need your help out in the field and they need your financial support to help get their ads up on the air. Put a yard sign in your yard. Put a bumpersticker on your car.

Fight for them and tell them to fight for us!

Here is each of their campaign committee’s websites:

Trent Franks – CD-2

John Shadegg – CD-3

David Schweikert – CD-5

Jeff Flake – CD-6

Tim Bee – CD-8

Press Release: Bouie Endorsed by Shadegg

Hat Tip to Politico Mafioso for posting the latest press release by the Tony Bouie Campaign. Of course, after all the negative comments directed at Tony by some readers of this blog, it’s no wonder he didn’t send the press release to Sonoran Alliance.

Congressman John Shadegg: “Citizens of LD 6 Need Tony Bouie”

(Anthem, AZ) – Congressman John Shadegg (AZ – 03) endorsed Tony Bouie, Republican candidate in Legislative District 6, today.

“Tony Bouie is exactly the type of leader the citizens of Legislative District 6 need,” Shadegg said of Bouie. “As a resident of LD 6, I know that my neighbors are facing many difficult issues right now, and I am confident that Tony has the business experience to do what it takes to protect my wallet and as a husband and father he can be trusted to do what it takes to protect my family as well.”

Tony Bouie, an Anthem resident since 2001, is honored to have the endorsement of such a well respected leader in Arizona. “Congressman Shadegg is a respected leader in our community and throughout our state,” said Bouie. “I am humbled that he has chosen to support me, and I look forward to representing the Congressman in the Legislature.”

Bouie is the Chairman and CEO of Halo Cups, Inc. He holds a MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, a bachelor’s in media arts and masters in Language Reading and Culture from the University of Arizona. He played football and baseball at the University of Arizona before he went on to play in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four seasons. Shadegg Standing by to Shift Political Chessboard

Politicker AZ has a brief post this morning about Congressman John Shadegg’s willingness to succeed John McCain should he win the Presidency. Shadegg is clearly the obvious and best choice for that seat and you won’t hear any objections from me. So I’ll leave that political contest as a given. But if you look beyond the successor of John McCain the vacancy left in CD-3 will place Arizona’s political chessboard in motion creating all kinds of excitement amongst politicos. State legislators (Waring/Gorman/Allen) and city councilman (Baier/Simplot) among others (Hatch-Miller) will scramble to jump in this race. School board members will scramble to follow state legislative seats and on and on… So I’m throwing it out to all you political observers – what kind of matrix can we expect to see when John McCain becomes President and John Shadegg becomes the next Senator from Arizona?
