Sheriff Joe Arpaio visits District 8, endorses Jesse Kelly

TUCSON, AZ. Sheriff Joe Arpaio headlined a standing room only fund raiser for Jesse Kelly last Friday. The event was sold out days ahead of the sheriff’s appearance. The audience enjoyed hearing from the sheriff of the 4th most populous county in America.

During the event the sheriff endorsed Jesse, saying “Jesse is the kind of leader that we need in Washington, plain spoken and not afraid to say it like it is.”

Jesse Kelly is a candidate for Arizona’s Eighth Congressional District in the southeastern region of the state. For more information on the Jesse Kelly campaign please visit

  1. Well, there’s Gabby’s first ad on KCMT:

Jesse Kelly comparte los valores del Sheriff Joe Arpaio – intimidación, odio, cólera. Éstos no son los valores de Arizona Meridional. Voto Gabby Giffords.

  2. At which time Jesse Kelly’s campaign will promptly file a complaint with the FEC because Gabby se olvidó de incluir la advertencia en su publicidad.

  3. “Mi nombre es Gabby Giffords y apruebo este mensaje. Pagado por Gabby Giffords para Congreso.”

    ¿Es este mejor?

  4. Sí, es mejor.

Although I always thought it proper to use the verb llamar (ie. “Me llamo”)

    Where’s our resident Spanish grammarian?

  5. Yah gotta be kidding. says

Uh, running against a dem in Tucson who is married to an astronaut, with an endorsement from the soon to be indicted Shurf.

Um, not going to be a good year for that young man.

Such a triumphant boastful start here. Such a trainwreck coming thanks to our idiot legislature. Hope he is ready to put the blame where it lies.

  6. GOP Boomer Gal says

Indicted by El Napo our former governor is a badge of honor.

Soon with this bunch our choice will be: Be indicted or fold and accept their new America.

  7. Here is some interesting data regarding voter registration in CD-8:

    Oct 2008 = 148,052
    Oct 2009 = 142,351
    Loss of 5,701 or -3.851%

    Oct 2008 = 161,553
    Oct 2009 = 155,907
    Loss of 5,646 or -3.495%

    Oct 2008 = 113,104
    Oct 2009 = 114,287
    Gain of 1,183 or 1.046%

Both parties losing voters but Dems losing at a faster rate…

  8. DSW, what do you think happened to the 9,000 or so lost voters in CD-8 – Mexico?

  9. Good question. Libertarians picked up 352 and the Greens lost 50. So the total drop in registration was 9,862. I’d like to look at other districts and compare. Perhaps there was an exodus from Pima County to Maricopa to find work? Or, maybe a return to Mexico?

  10. DSW,

The loss of 55 more voters by one party over another is pretty insignficant… If this is the kind of analysis you think is important no wonder you have had issues pickings the CD-8 race lately.

  11. Sheriff Joe is not going to get indicted. He is cleaning up the corruption, not part of it.
