Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery Endorses Wendy Rogers

The campaign for Wendy Rogers released the following statement by Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery:

“We live in troubling times. Skyrocketing debt, out-of-control spending, high taxes, terrorism, a porous border, and a growing dislike and disdain for our federal government. The only way to right the ship of state in Washington is by sending someone there who will apply sound principles of leadership with honesty and integrity.

We need someone who will lead for Arizona and who will put the interests of Arizonans first and not that of Washington lobbyists and special interests.

That’s why I am supporting Wendy Rogers for Congress in the 9th District.

Wendy has integrity – something that is lacking far too often in Congress. Her word is her bond and she follows through.

Wendy served 20 years in our military – she fought for our country nearly half her career overseas as one of the Air Force’s first woman pilots and she will fight for our new Congressional District 9 in Washington. Wendy is part of a legacy of service dating back five generations to include her father who commanded an infantry platoon in WWII, an infantry company during the Korean War, and a tank battalion during the Cold War in Europe, holding in check the forces of Communism.

Wendy is conservative. She is the only start-up business owner in District 9 and, in meeting a payroll, understands firsthand how brutal regulations can be to small business owners. She is a wife of 34 years and mother of two. Wendy is Pro Life, recognizing and respecting the inherent dignity andvalue in every human life. She will repeal Obamacare and insist on free market principles and protect the integrity of the physician-patient relationship in addressing the needs of our health care system. She is against bailouts and wasteful spending and will not mortgage the hopes and dreams of future generations to satisfy a bloated federal government today.

Bottom line – if you are a conservative like me in District 9 and you want to send a conservative to Congress whom we can trust, the only choice is Lt Col Wendy Rogers.”

– Bill Montgomery

Wendy Rogers is misrepresenting herself, attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of Arizona voters. Let’s look at irrefutable proof of this.

“Let’s face it,” said Rogers, “Our nation is broke and it’s time to cut up Washington’s credit card once and for all. I refuse to put my children and grandchild deeper into debt,” she continued. “Only by balancing the budget and finally controlling government spending is this going to happen.”

    Really Wendy?

“Wendy Rogers: Arizona Needs & Supports the F-35”

“Back in November, the East Valley Tribune and Ahwatukee Foothill News published an op-ed that I wrote in support of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.”

So where is the conflict between Rogers’ support for the F-35 and her supposed fiscal conservatism?

The F-35 is the most expensive weapons system in U. S. history.

Back in 2010 the Pentagon found that the cost per plane had increased by 50% over original projections.

An internal Pentagon report concluded that: “affordability is no longer embraced as a core pillar.”

Washington intends to buy 2,443, at a price tag of $382 billion.

Add in the $650 billion that the Government Accountability Office estimates is needed to operate and maintain the aircraft, and the total cost reaches a staggering $1 trillion.

In other words, we’re spending more on this plane than Australia’s entire GDP ($924 billion).

To make matters worse, the F-35 is years behind schedule. causing billions of dollars of additional expense, and is to this day plagued with very serious flaws.

Sorry, Wendy, but you are exactly the opposite of what you are representing yourself to be. With your support for the F-35, you have already supported putting your grandchildren deeper into debt.

A vote for Wendy Rogers is a vote for budget busting fiscal irresponsibility as proven by her support for the biggest military spending boondoggle in U. S. history!

  2. Horizon had candidate Rogers and others on this week, and I thought that she gave the most favorable response on illegal immigration. Rogers’ response to border security was that it absolutely can and must be controlled. I was impressed by her “can do” attitude and her answers were believeable. This was in contrast to the least favorable comment by candidate Lisa Borowsky, who delivered the disgusting Janet Napolitano soliloquy about “50 foot ladders”, losing my interest (and vote) instantly. Borowsky desperately needs a voice and speech coach, I thought I was listening to the soundtrack of “Valley Girl.”

I wish Horizon had expanded the topic to interior immigration enforcement, SB 1070, amnesty, and the Dream Act since no candidate is going to say “leave the border open.” I would also like to see the candidates address these specifics on their websites, particularly support or non-support of SB 1070. “Going on record” for the world to see is preferable to trading emails.

Rogers may have given what you see as the most favorable responses but can she be trusted to deliver on them when she touts fiscal conservatism while supporting the fiscal disaster which is the F-35?

      • I understand your point CA, but wouldn’t the F-35 be coming with or without Rogers involvement? I agree with you completely that this is a money pit, but aren’t we supposed to be a little less angry because the training program for the F-35 is coming to Luke, and will economically benefit Arizona?

I will not vote for Rogers simply based on her televised remarks nor what is on her website; the candidates are going to have to document their positions on all aspects of illegal immigration, or none of them will get my vote.

The issue, zoo, is why isn’t Rogers decrying the F-35 fiscal fiasco, as an example of what is unacceptable, instead of supporting it?

From my perspective, zoo, I am unwilling to put the interests of Arizona above the interests of the country as a whole. Congressional delegations from each state just want to “bring home the bacon” for their state and their constitutents. Multiply that by 50. “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you’re talking real money!”

We have to start cutting back somewhere but we run into NIMBY syndrome, LOL! Everyone wants to cut somewhere else! 😉

I take the same approach that you take with immigration with the issue of marriage. I have asked both the Quayle campaign and the Schweikert campaign to post on their campaign websites a succinct statement of their current position regarding marriage. We’ll see what happens!
