During Thomas’ time as Maricopa County Attorney, crime rates plummeted. The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, and in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time. The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate).
Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.

PAID FOR BY THOMAS FOR AG
What a joke. Rick Romley is no longer a Republican and they appointed him back as County Attorney? He endorsed Democrat Chris Cummiskey for Secretary of State over Jan Brewer, Democrat Tim Nelson for County Attorney over Andrew Thomas, and Dan Saban over Arpaio for Sheriff. Not to mention he is still a paid lobbyist for Democrat Terry Goddard. Next thing I bet we’ll be hearing is he appoints RINO Susan Bitter Smith as his campaign manager. The Supervisors are going to have hell to pay come Republican primary reelection time when they’re up in 2012. I can see Arpaio endorsements for every single one of their opponents. Fortunately when Arpaio endorses someone like Bill Montgomery for the actual County Attorney election this fall, Romley should get booted outta there!
Andy & Joe:
Don’t turn your backs!
How those goofs are allowed to appoint their own prosecutor is beyond me.
And if you had asked my opinion?
“Well, Sanity has returned”.
I’d love to know who’s running for BOS. Mary Wilcox has got to go. It’s interesting to read a statement from Andrew Thomas pledging his support on the same day that Romley issues a warning to Arpaio.

“What a joke. Rick Romley is no longer a Republican and they appointed him back as County Attorney?”
Fortunately, Romely’s scarlet letter is easy to see, but Democrats have other strategically placed liberals throughout the Republican party.
Add: It’s interesting to read a [classy] statement from Andrew Thomas
Arpaio is flipping out over this. LOL!
Didn’t Romley work as an advisor for Goddard? How does he even begin to think people will still accept him as a Republican? This seems like an admission of guilt by the supervisors.
The BOS was going to appoint the person least likely to investigate their corruption. Romley is about as nonthreatening as Wilcox and Stapley could get. The voter will have to fix this in the Republican primary and then the general election.
:>) I’m going to sit back and enjoy watching Sheriff Joe have a meltdown.
The key is whether Romley continues to fight to get the civil division back. It is clearly unlawful for the BOS to do what they did and even the judge said after Thomas was gone the BOS would have to return it to the coounty attorney control. If romley doesn’t demand its return it will be a clear sign he sold his soul for the appointment.
He had a soul???
What’s with all the Democrats (Romley) tryiing to call themselves Republicans.
