    Veto proof majority.

  2. if flying off the handle disqualified you from being a US Senator about half the Senators in there would be thrown out. We have all heard about McCains temper, Biden swears like a sailor also.

I never really saw the point of that add. It just proved that Coleman was willing to say and do anything to win and even that didnt work.

  3. Conservative does not mean Republican says

Temperment should be considered when electing someone to any office. Congress is supposed to be a body of deliberation and careful compromise. Can you imagine freako Frankin sitting down for a cup of coffee with any conservative Senator? I doubt he could contain his blatant animosity for the person! May God help us all when Al Franken takes his seat in one of the most powerful groups on the face of the earth.

Hey Con-ReS? wow! Try the decaf next time.

  5. Actually kral, a veto-proof majority requires 66 votes. I believe a little thing called the “Constitution” will clear that up for you. 60 votes would, however, be required to pass a cloture motion, aka filibuster.

thank you pdp, for the clarification. Was what I meant to say. Filibuster proof majority!

  7. Yeah! Why can’t we have good upstanding leaders like Dick Cheney who call people [expletive deleted] and tell people to “Go [expletive deleted] themselves” on the Senate floor or John Boehher using the word [expletive deleted] to describe legislation!

I swear, this country is going to Hell in a [expletive deleted] handbasket.

I deleted the expletives, because I care about you, the gentle SA reader.

The real question that should be asked is how our beloved GOP can not field a candidate strong enough to beat Al Franken. This man was elected not appointed.
