Tim Bee watch – cont.

A while back one of our contributors speculated that State Senate President Tim Bee would step down in order to start raising funds for his run against Representative Giffords for the CD-8 seat. I believe the story was a soft hint at what Bee should do in order to have a serious chance at unseating the Democrat incumbent.

Now comes a much sterner warning from a moderate/left Tucson blog. Step down or State Representative Jonathan Paton will. And it won’t be to “spend more time with family.” I could be wrong but the message seems pretty clear.

Paton has an image as the more conservative legislator but Bee out scores him on some of the ratings. Either one will do. We can’t wait for Senator Kyl to come down and help out with a fundraiser dinner. Maybe they could sell Z-Visa replicas as your admission ticket to the event at $1,000 a piece. Have fun with your newly aligned party guys.

  1. And the best part is we get to welcome Randy Graf back to the legislature either way! Coooool…

I would have assumed that Bee would have already started raising funds for this race. Hmmm. He is going to be far far far behind.

Interesting about Paton…very. I would be surprised if he ran for Congress against Bee…very…but hey…Bee might not be conservative enough.

Bee, as Senate President, is indeed going to be able to claim a budget compromise that benefits S. Arizona…no question. He was able to get a big old pork barrel contribution to UA-South, which will please the Sierra Vistans, I assume. He also was able to craft a bi-partisan budget that the Governor will sign that did no harm to the university for once. The one thing I am not sure about is whether he should resign. As President, he can continue to credit claim and raise name rec…but the truly excellent post referenced in this one does get at his need to start fundraising big time and to get an organization together that can beat the Giffords machine.

    We shall see.

OH…I forgot…Bee was probably the most instrumental law maker in getting the tax money re-approved for Rio Nuevo and Downtwon investment. HE is a great great friend of Downtown Tucson and the Developers and city officials that needed him at that time.

And with Kral’s endorsement, Bee’s campaign officially ended…

Thanks Partyguy…helped me enjoy my evening.

Kral’s endorsement is the least of Bee’s problems.

Bee needs to raise a lot of money, find some winning issues on which Gabby is weak, unite a fractured party, and win over more than half of the independents. Good luck. Maybe George Bush, Chertoff, Kyl, and McCain can come down and do some fundraisers.

  8. I’m laughing out loud, hopefully with you Kral…! Tough to type so that sarcasm is revealed, but I hope you got it! Cheerio…

  9. Oh yeah, don’t forget the rumor that the boys back at the RNC are trying to convince Bee to hire Nathan Sproul to run his race! Let’s see, Sproul taking a relative unknown to run against a well-funded Democrat incumbent? What’s the worst that can happen?
