Corruption is as Corruption Does AKA Eric Holder

The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is calling for the resignation of United States Attorney General Eric Holder. Why?

Is Holder corrupt, incompetent, stupid, or some combination of all three? Holder is not an amateur at what he does, he has been around holding Democrat patronage jobs for almost 20 years, minus the Bush years.

With the best of intentions we need to spend a few moments on recalling a real Attorney General and how he and his President were smeared over an inconsequential firing of a handful of U.S. Attorneys. No one questioned Bill Clinton when he fired 93 U.S. Attorneys on the same day.

Let us recall, too that Alberto Gonzalez was the highest ranking federal government Hispanic in the history of the United States of America.

The media and the Democratic Party hounded President George W. Bush and Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez who first served as White House Counsel. Before the 2001 Bush inauguration, Gonzalez served Governor Bush in Texas as a Supreme Court Justice.

Corruption, they passionately charged in all media. Corruption!

The firing of the U.S. Attorneys was an excuse to attack Bush and Gonzalez for the Iraq War and “lies” these two men told so we could invade Iraq for its oil on Bush’s part; and for the opportunity to open a prison camp at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba. Those were the Democrat fantasies they breathed, consumed and lived for during the Bush years.

Gonzalez – as White House Counsel — was accused of soliciting staff legal arguments supporting the invasion, Guantanamo and “torture” by sponsoring legal justifications supporting “enhanced interrogation” or what critics called torture and water-boarding on captured Islamic fanatics caught attacking the US and fighting the US on foreign fields.

Leading Gonzalez’ legal efforts was the brilliant John Yoo, now teaching at UC Berkeley’s Boalt Hall law school. He wrote the memos used by the government that supported “enhanced interrogation.” It should be noted that Obama/Holder’s AG office embarked on a witch hunt of Yoo that failed to expose any unethical writings or activities by Yoo and fellow Gonzalez associates.

On another front, the Democratic Party unrelentingly and unrepentantly indulged in the grossest racism seen in a generation when it destroyed Bush’s nomination to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals of the brilliant Honduran immigrant, Harvard Law-trained Miguel Estrada.

Estrada had perfected the American Dream beyond imagination arriving here as a child speaking Spanish-only and graduating from Harvard Law and serving brilliantly in the government. Blocking Estrada was a way at getting after Alberto Gonzalez and President Bush. Estrada never was voted on, Senate Democrats refused to put him up for a vote. Though most racist Democrat Senators thought Estrada was Mexican (they all look alike) he wasn’t.

Despite the political hatred of Gonzalez by war critics and the Democratic Party, he was never charged with corruption except for the firing of the U.S. Attorneys. He was despised because he was and is a conservative Hispanic Republican, not a liberal/radical ultra-liberal Mexican American.

Fact: U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President; they are not civil servants. The President does not have to have a reason to fire a U.S. Attorney.

Contrast that with President Obama’s friend and Attorney General (AG) Eric Holder who has served as the U.S. Attorney of the District of Columbia under President Bill Clinton and then as Clinton’s Deputy Attorney General.

His record: the corrupt pardon of the worst tax cheat and fugitive in American History, Marc Rich which Clinton signed on Holder’s recommendation. As Attorney General Holder refused to prosecute Black Panthers for voter intimidation. As AG, he signed on to what appears to be a hugely unethical criminal investigation into Fox News Reporter, James Rosen, and is now being investigated for lying to Congress about that case. As AG he apparently authorized a highly questionable massive seizure of phone records of the Associated Press, something never ever done in U.S. History and Congress is wondering whether he has lied about that as well. Then there is the FAST & FURIOUS program of gun-running to Mexican Drug Cartels for which he has been found in Contempt of Congress.

There isn’t an objective person in the world who can say that Alberto Gonzalez was a bad Attorney General when compared to President Obama’s good friend Eric Holder, not one.

The Political Demise of Richard Nixon

Many older Americans remember the Nixon years. Richard Nixon was reelected in a landslide, but the groundwork for Nixon’s demise was laid during his first term. The Nixon administration engaged in dirty tricks to aggressively undermine his opposition.

The White House “plumbers” were hired to repair “leaks” of sensitive information that embarrassed Nixon. With no accountability or oversight, the “plumbers” were soon out of control. One night they broke into Democratic National Headquarters (DNC) at the Watergate Hotel, and were arrested.

Nixon didn’t know in advance about the burglary, and was furious. Like most presidents, Nixon’s king-sized ego that would not allow apology, and instead he covered-up, which led to Nixon’s downfall.

Nixon, like John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson before him, unleashed the IRS to go after his enemies, which also came to light during the furor over Watergate.

Nixon was able to cover-up scandals during his first term, but during his second term a steady drip-drip-drip of revelations about Nixon’s abuses of power appeared in the news media, and eventually Congress began impeachment proceedings, and when impeachment became apparent he resigned.

Obama’s Abuse of the IRS

Like Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy, the Obama administration used the IRS to intimidate enemies. The latest revelations are truly shocking. Any organization whose name included “tea party” or “patriot” received intense scrutiny from the IRS, which demanded answers to questions about donors, volunteers, Facebook posts, even which legislators they had talked to.

Now Jewish groups who had opposed Obama’s Mideast policies have revealed they were abused by the IRS too, and the Koch brothers revealed in 2010 the White House had information about them which could only have come from the IRS.

If Obama abused the IRS to intimidate and harass his political enemies, that may well lead to an Obama impeachment, just as it did with Nixon.

‘Fast and Furious’ may also lead to Obama impeachment

During Obama’s first term, the Obama administration sold over 2,000 high powered assault weapons to Mexican narco-traffickers, supposedly to track these weapons, but nobody put tracking devices in the guns or tracked them. Border patrol agent Brian Terry was killed with one of these guns, which initiated the scandal.

Basically the guns were allowed to ‘walk.’ The Mexican government was not told and dozens of innocent Mexicans were killed by drug traffickers with these weapons.

When Congress investigated, the Obama DOJ dragged its feet for months, withholding requested information. The eventual subpoena led to a showdown with Obama. With Holder about to be held in contempt of Congress, Obama threw an overreaching blanket of executive privilege over everything related to ‘fast and furious.’ Congress held Eric Holder in contempt, and not surprisingly the DA refused to prosecute his boss. Any day now we can expect a court to order compliance with the subpoena, court appeals, but in the end Obama will lose and the truth about ‘fast and furious’ will be public.

Will the Benghazi cover-up lead to Obama impeachment?

The full story of the tragic loss of four American heroes in Benghazi begs to be told. Benghazi was unmistakably a terror attack from the beginning, but Obama lied for weeks to assure his reelection.

There was nothing criminal about Obama’s actions leading up to Benghazi, but the incompetence will sink Hillary’s career and tarnish Obama’s leadership. Terror attacks on American diplomatic outposts are nothing new. Two U.S. embassies in Africa were destroyed by car bombs during the Clinton years with massive loss of life. Hillary Clinton was first lady, and Susan Rice the Associate Secretary of State for Africa at the time. Amazingly, Hillary Clinton ignored numerous urgent requests for beefed up security.

Obama failed to authorize military support when told about Benghazi, and at least two who died could have been saved with military support in the region. The Obama administration sought to cover up this gross incompetence to get past the election just two months later, and Susan Rice and Obama clearly lied to the American people about a third-rate video and “spontaneous” demonstration, to divert attention from the fact Al Qaeda is as dangerous as ever.

It remains to be seen whether witnesses in Congress were induced to lie and obstruct. There are already serious allegations a recent witness was the victim of retaliation. One thing is already apparent. The “talking points” from the intelligence community, which Jay Kearney said received one minor insignificant edit before release, were edited 12 times and scrubbed of any terror references. The Review Board that reviewed Benghazi didn’t interview key witnesses, who now are testifying in Congress. Apparently, the review board was a whitewash from the start!

Will Congress consider an Obama impeachment?

If an impeachment vote were held today, it would undoubtedly fail. Congress generally won’t impeach a popular president.

Bill Clinton committed impeachable offenses and was impeached, but the Senate balked at removing Clinton from office because he was still popular.

However, as these scandals grow and the wheels fall off of Obamacare next year, Obama’s approval ratings can be expected to sink to rock bottom levels, and we may well see an effort to impeach Obama. The Obama recovery is worse than the Bush recession, and the public is tired of a jobless economy. Bush has been out of office for four years now, and Obama owns the economic morass though he still blames Bush.

In my opinion, Obama is the worst president in modern history, and the only reason he was reelected is that Mitt Romney wasn’t the best candidate, and didn’t run a good campaign against Obama.

Chief Justice Roberts: Meet Obamacare!

Liberals on the Supreme Court and in Congress refused to heed warnings as they brazenly imposed President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) on the American people. Example:

“Our doctors have told us to be prepared for the worst because right now we can hardly find a doctor.”

Under a cloud of controversy, Obamacare has now entered its third year.

In its 2012 decision on Obamacare, the U.S. Supreme Court based its ruling on a convoluted interpretation of law. In a 5-4 decision, Chief Justice John Roberts voted alongside liberal justices to clear the way for the implementation of Obamacare. Roberts’ overriding concern was if the individual mandate to force Americans to buy medical insurance should be labeled a tax or a fine. Human loss and suffering were inconsequential. The human toll could not be factored in based on legal constricts placed on the court. Decisions are to be based on law and not emotion. Regardless and predictably, the leftist jurists’ ideology of applying social justice, a primary tenet of socialism, infused their decisions. Conservatives on the bench voted against the individual mandate, which would force Americans to purchase medical insurance under coercion whether by a tax or fine, as unconstitutional.

Chief Justice Roberts and President Obama

Soon after its passage, Obamacare began claiming casualties. Front-line victims became early warnings of the pain and suffering — the desperation — to come. Few in seats of power took heed. Obama and Congress had, after all, exempted themselves from the medical nightmare they created along with a swath of their political cronies and supporters. Supreme Court justices remain exempt as well. Question: Why exempt themselves? What is it that they are afraid of?

Mid-2010, Americans were beginning to experience the creeping effects of socialized medicine. During a radio interview, a caller who identified himself as a life-long Democrat told me of the particular form of hell that he and his young paraplegic wife were going through due to Obamacare. The caller wanted to warn fellow Americans. His wife was already being abandoned by her doctors who feared cuts in reimbursements. Doctors pointed to mandated cuts in Medicare monies being shifted to fund Obamacare. What follows in a limited transcript of my on-air interview with the caller about his wife’s ordeal.

Husband/Caller:

Our doctors have told us to be prepared for the worst because right now we can hardly find a doctor. We’re not in a small town, and when we go to find a new doctor for a new problem, a podiatrist or specialty doctor of any kind, we go through many, many, many, many names before one finally decides to take us. They tell us upfront that you are going to probably end-up being billed the 20% because we [the doctors] know that we don’t get reimbursed for that and they’ve changed their paperwork. You used to be able to pick up the phone and call any doctor and they say come on in, we take Medicare, we take QMB – now I spend two and three days trying to find one doctor with other doctors helping me to find a doctor that would accept the program. Through the Bush time, we thought GW was the worst thing that had ever happened to America. But, we were able to keep everything we had. Nothing was affected, our health plan was not affected, the doctors were not affected, nothing happened to us badly. Well, now since Obama has taken over we can no longer . . . (Voice cracks.)

The caller explained further, that in desperation, he took his wife to a clinic. Clinic doctors informed him that they were not qualified to treat his wife, nor could they admit patients to a hospital. Frantic, he recruited the help of others in his continued search to find a qualified doctor who would accept their Medicare/Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program. Eventually, he said, a 74-year-old doctor, in semi-retirement, finally agreed to treat his wife.

As a result of that call, I have investigated first-hand accounts and concerns of those who provide medical care to our mentally and physically disabled and to our seniors. Medical care providers expect the human toll, from warehousing patients to loss of life, to be extensive. Obamacare results in fewer doctors available to middle and lower income patients. Corruption is embedded in Obama’s Affordable Care Act as it fosters breeding grounds for less skilled and less ethical doctors and clinics to run Obamacare mills based on quantity of patients and not quality of care.

A recent interview I did with an emergency room doctor disclosed traumatizing choices that doctors are already being forced to make. An experienced emergency room doctor found himself trapped between admitting two critically ill patients or adhering to newly applied government regulations. His hospital’s funding was under new government-imposed financial guidelines. Costs were to be lowered by turning away short-term, repeat Medicare patients. The doctor explains that he is now caught in a regulatory vice:

As more and more are added to the Obamacare rolls, there will be less and less access. People will get sicker and yes, people will die because of it. I had a sick and sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach today after both of these incidents.

Facing the prospects of turning away dying patients or facing a hospital reprimand for admitting them, this doctor chose patient care over job security. The doctor expects to retire in a few years.

Former top aide to Obama, Jeffrey Crowley, helped design how Obamacare is being implemented. Crowley openly admits that there are serious flaws saying, “We know it’s going to be messy.” “Messy?” Is that what President Obama, liberal Democrats and socialists on the Supreme Court call the heartache, suffering and sorrow that is already being faced by Americans and their families? Chief Justice Roberts and his liberal jurists on the high court have torpedoed the American economy along with the American health care system making the pain not just medical, but financial? Workers nationwide complain that their paychecks have been hit with the first-round of Obamacare taxes resulting in less take-home pay. It is just the beginning.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey reveals that a 54% majority of Americans expect the U.S. healthcare system to get worse over the next four years. Benjamin Domenech of Health Care News reports that the latest Kaiser/Harvard survey found, “Obamacare’s Unpopularity Grows in New Poll.” The survey reports that the disapproval of Obamacare “was mostly driven by an increase in opposition from the politically significant independent voters — the survey found 57% of independents opposed the law, up from 41 percent last month.” The House of Representatives currently has the authority to defund the administrative arm of the Affordable Care Act and effectively nullify Obamacare. Having been given that authority by the American people, the latest polls indicate that they should use it – and then expand sales of personal medical insurance into the free-market to be sold at competitive rates across state lines.

Obama’s Green Money Scheme Exposed – Part One

Few realize that the “green movement” is about building large personal fortunes (green money) for an elite few. As with all robber barons, it is about the money. It is why President Barack Obama laid out his threat to again bypass Congress and ignore the American people during his 2013 State of the Union address. Mr. Obama will attempt to force his ill-conceived green energy plans into existence with the stroke of his pen via Executive Orders:

“I will direct my Cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now and in the future, to reduce pollution, prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change and speed the transition to more sustainable sources of energy.” – President Barack Obama, February 12, 2013

Obama is determined to resurrect his green energy schemes by drying up America’s access to oil and gas no matter the pain inflicted on American families and businesses. Having put the coal industry on life-supports, his next target — restricting power plants that generate electricity to homes and businesses.

What the President hides behind the curtain and does not reveal is his alliance with international green elites, White House and Wall Street cronies and energy regulatory czars who have orchestrated a CO2 carbon-taxing scheme that puts billions of dollars into their own hands. It’s a money scheme. Three years ago, the global-warming money transfer scam surfaced and named not only this president, but a former Democrat president and vice-president as participants planning to accumulate vast personal wealth as a result. One need only ask, why did Al Gore so confidently tout that he was destined to become the “first global-warming billionaire?”

Long in the designing, the elements were close to being in full play. The plans were drawn, the carbon-credit trading exchange registered as the Chicago Climate Exchange was formulated (New York Times – Click here // Trading symbol CCX – Click here.), set to both transfer and stash cash, the green barons’ privately-owned Chicago bank was on the ready and the right president was in office to perpetrate the scam on the American people. That is, until the great global-warming-climate-change fraud stopped the United Nations-supported, elite cadre of well-connected political, banking and Wall Street associates in their tracks. “Billionaire globalists like George Soros fund green groups and seek to promote the globalist ‘climate change’ scam as a way to enrich themselves and infiltrate developing nations in order to financially exploit them and their natural resources for profit.”

The June 2009 Bloomberg article, Sandor Got Obama’s Nod for Chicago-Style Climate Law by Jim Efstathiou Jr., reported that a carbon-capping bill set to be imposed on American businesses was the cornerstone of Obama’s environmental agenda. Bloomberg quotes CCX founder Richard Sandor as saying that the bill “began “way, way to the left with provisions to push U.S. utilities into bankruptcy.” The article further reads: “Sandor launched the Chicago Climate Exchange, or CCX, in 2003 after getting two research grants from the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation. Obama was on the foundation that gave us the grant, Sandor said. We know him well.” CCX reportedly now operates under the auspices of Environmental Financial Products.

When “global-warming-climate-change” was exposed as a blatant fraud, the American people and a Republican House refused to play ball. By doing so, they stymied the global clique of politicians and socialist ideologues who remain ready to bring America to its economic knees for their own financial and ideological gains. Even so, Mr. Obama is making another high-stakes play to push through his green agenda to fully activate the global CCX exchange despite the high cost to even the poorest of Americans.

While Obama is gearing up to invest billions of America’s tax dollars into the green abyss, other countries are backing away. Never mind that China and India refuse to put a dime into the scam. European nations have already experienced a severe hit to their economies and negative blow-back from their citizens. In the face of worldwide data to the contrary, Obama claimed during his State of the Union address that: “the fact is, the 12 hottest years on record have all come in the last 15.” How an American President can make such an erroneous claim to the American people in the face of existing facts reveals him as sorely misstating or misinformed.

A February 27, 2013 news release by the Global Warming Policy Foundation states that it has highlighted the global warming standstill for many years against fervent denial by climate activists. Its Chairman, Nigel Lawson, states: “there has been no further recorded global warming at all for at least the past 15 years.” Backing-up Lawson’s findings are reported reversals by such global-warming heavy-weights as the United Nation’s Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, head of the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and NASA’s James Hansen who both reportedly now recognize that global temperatures have not risen for more than a decade.

Europe is facing a green backlash.

Scientific facts that Mr. Obama and his cronies prefer you not know come from Edmund Contoski, an environmental consultant for more than 40 countries. In Liberty Unbound, Contoski writes: “The overwhelming majority (97%) of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere comes from nature, not from man.” Based on scientific data, “Not only are worms contributing to the CO2 in the atmosphere,” Contoski further notes that, “volcanoes, swamps, rice paddies, fallen leaves, and even insects and bacteria alone emit ten times more carbon dioxide than all the factories and automobiles in the world. Even natural wetlands emit more greenhouse gases than all human activities combined.” Nature itself foils the environmentalists as The U.S. Department of Energy admits that once emitted that 98% of all the carbon dioxide emissions are again absorbed by nature. Contosky then queries,

“Termites emit ten time more CO2 than humans, should we cap-and-tax them?”

The media neglect the real reason Barack Obama wants your dollars to flow into his green machine that will swallow them up and then divvy them up among an elite group that will reap financial gain as America loses. The scheme is hidden in plain sight. Perhaps a great investigative journalist like Bob Woodward will peel back the layers of this political fraud. After all, he’s already endured one tongue-lashing threat from the White House.

Obama’s Insulting Fiscal Cliff Deal

Charles Krauthammer is right about the looming fiscal cliff. Obama’s insulting offer should be flatly turned down, and in fact Republicans should walk.

In a speech at the Ronald Reagan presidential library, Gingrich commented on the fiscal cliff:

“It is a device to get all of us running down the road so we accept whatever Obama wants, because otherwise we will have failed the fiscal cliff, and how can you be a patriot if you don’t do what the fiscal cliff requires?”

Why are congressional Republicans allowing taxes instead of spending to be the focus of budget discussions? We are overspent, not undertaxed,

What I would say to the House Republicans is to get a grip. They are the majority; they are not the minority. They don’t need to cave in to Obama. They don’t need to form a surrender caucus,

Gingrich recalls a similar fiscal cliff in a February 2011 Washington Post op-ed. In December 1995, the House passed a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget. Although the Senate failed to pass the amendment, House Republicans and some Democrats decided to balance the budget anyway, despite the looming threat of a presidential veto. Clearly President Clinton thought Republicans would cave rather than see government shut down.

A balanced budget passed the House and Senate, and when the expected presidential veto resulted, Republicans stood firm. Clinton’s veto did indeed shut down the federal government. The shutdown was painful for a few weeks, but laid the ground work for four straight years of balanced budgets. In fact, many of the successes Clinton often trumpets were the result of Republicans standing firm and insisting on a balanced budget!

It’s time for Republicans to walk away from negotiations unless and until Obama gets serious about balancing our budget, and yes, Obamacare needs to be on the table.

Obama’s most recent budget proposal was overwhelmingly voted down by both parties, in fact the Senate voted “no” 99-0, and after four years without any budget it’s time our government began operating under a budget.

It’s obvious that Obama is not willing to negotiate in good faith, and is attempting to bully Republicans in Congress into caving on massive tax increases, in fact double what Obama asked for last summer, along with increased stimulus spending and no concrete spending cuts until the future. Obama even wants Congress to hand Obama the authority to increase the debt ceiling, an unprecedented power grab! It’s time for Republicans in Congress to stand firm, and for Obama to come to the table and negotiate in good faith.

“Hating Breitbart” – A Powerflul Movie that Explains Why We Lost in 2012

Hating Breitbart is a great movie about a great American patriot. Unfortunately it was released too late to help us understand what we were really up against in 2012. Governor Mitt Romney was not running against Barack Obama alone. He was also running against a liberal media that was determined from the beginning to re-elect the President they had installed in office in the 2008 election.

Hating Breitbart illustrates not just the bias of the liberal media, but the outright activism of the media. A point in case is the mythical Republican War on Women created by George Stephanopoulos during one of the Republican Primary Presidential Debates. Contraception was not and should not have been an issue in the 2012 campaign. But, Stephanopoulos created this myth that Republicans wanted to ban birth control and the rest of the media ran with it. This was not some kind of political fluke. It was, rather, a strategy implemented by the media to create and control the tone and content of the issues to be discussed in the election.

Abortion, likewise, should not have been a center issue for Republicans during this election. Granted, it is an issue of importance to people, and it should be a foundation of our platform and position, but this election should have been about jobs and national security. The media was not about to let that happen because those are losing issues for Obama. We followed their lead and let this be a promoted issue. The result – two stupid sentences from two Senate candidates – two lost Senate seats and a severely tarnished Republican brand.

There is no Republican War on Women. It is a myth created to drive a wedge between women and Republicans. If you want to understand where women are on politics, look at my interview with Debbie Georgatos and read her book, “Ladies, Can We Talk?”

Andrew Breitbart understood the media and its approach and tactics. After all, he had been one of them. But he saw the harm that was being done to our country and decided to do something about it. Breitbart went to war with the mainstream media and the Democrat propoganda machine.

When you watch the movie, Hating Breitbart, you will learn to look at the media in a different light. You will see how they are not only willing, but eager accomplices with the Democrats. Hating Breitbart illustrates this by showing how Breitbart dealt with Democrats and the media about the alleged issue of Tea Party member verbally assaulting black Members of Congress with racial slurs. It didn’t happen. There is no proof that it happened. But these Congressmen said it did, so the media ran with it. Evidence? We don’t need no stinking evidence!

All Republicans should see this movie. We need to learn and understand Democrat and liberal media strategies. We should learn their tools and use them against them. Radio talk show host Kira Davis has learned this and is using it very effectively to reach out to minority voters across the country.

In many ways, TexasGOPVote founder and publisher, John Stautner, shows much of the same warrior mentality as Andrew Breitbart. He is studying these tactics and teaching them to a small but growing army of bloggers and writers like me who will not sit back and allow the media to run unchecked.

Is Michael Bloomberg Channeling Obama and Global Warming to Save His Skin?

New York City was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Neighborhoods are flooded, residents are homeless, hungry residents are dumpster diving for food, there are endless lines at gasoline stations, and widespread power outages continue days after Sandy ended.

Not surprisingly, climate alarmists were quick to claim Sandy is compelling evidence that global warming will end civilization as we know it. They never miss an opportunity to blame global warming every time there’s a major storm, drought, or other event. Obama’s former green jobs czar took to twitter to demand that global warming skeptics apologize to Al Gore. They’re not getting an apology from me!

When severe snow storms hit the mid-Atlantic region in 2010 climate alarmists were quick to blame global warming! In recent years as evidence of warming eased, climate alarmists quietly shifted from using the term “global warming” to “climate change.” During the 1970s, many of these same climate alarmists warned we faced catastrophe from a new ice age, with the Earth covered in miles deep layers of glaciers!

It’s apparent that New York City and the Obama administration were caught unprepared for Sandy, unpreparedness which would put many politician’s careers at risk. Obama surveyed the devastation in New Jersey for 30 minutes, then promptly flew to Las Vegas for another celebrity dominated fund raiser.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made a slick political move and endorsed Obama, channeling Obama’s climate change rhetoric to shift the blame for New York City’s unpreparedness to global warming. From Bloomberg’s endorsement of Obama:

The floods and fires that swept through our city left a path of destruction that will require years of recovery and rebuilding work. And in the short term, our subway system remains partially shut down, and many city residents and businesses still have no power. In just 14 months, two hurricanes have forced us to evacuate neighborhoods — something our city government had never done before. If this is a trend, it is simply not sustainable.

But we can’t do it alone. We need leadership from the White House — and over the past four years, President Barack Obama has taken major steps to reduce our carbon consumption, including setting higher fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks. His administration also has adopted tighter controls on mercury emissions, which will help to close the dirtiest coal power plants (an effort I have supported through my philanthropy), which are estimated to kill 13,000 Americans a year.

In his 2008 Denver speech, in one of his most megalomaniacal moments ever, Obama preached: “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”

Apparently, Obama wasn’t able to spare us from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy, but would like for you to believe if he’s reelected he will ‘heal’ our planet.

In fact, Obama’s radical “green” agenda also failed to create the millions of “green” jobs he promised despite $90 billion in spending and loans from taxpayers, and many ‘green’ companies have already gone bust, and higher energy costs are killing jobs and stunting economic growth.

The dramatic rise in energy costs but nothing as compared with what will come in a second term with the carbon tax Obama’s EPA is implementing. High energy costs are a drag on the economy, and consumers are paying near double for gasoline as compared to four years ago. Perhaps Obama would have us believe we need decades of Obamanomics to ‘heal the planet.’

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon where the earth receives solar energy from the Sun. About 50% of that energy is absorbed by the Earth and the rest radiated back towards space. Clouds trap part of this radiated energy in the earth’s atmosphere, further warming the Earth. Principal greenhouse gases include water vapor (i.e. clouds), carbon dioxide, and methane (from rotting vegetation, manure, etc.). Carbon dioxide is actually a weak greenhouse gas as compared to water vapor and methane, but imagine politicians trying to convince us to tax water because water results in clouds! Ditto for human manure creating methane gas, and we never hear politicians mention taxing our breathing, but business where large numbers of people congregate, like schools, will end up being taxed because humans exhale carbon dioxide!

Climate alarmists use terminology intended to alarm everyday people. For example, everyone knows about water, but how many know that Dihydrogen Monoxide is water? To prove the point, there’s even a spoof web site warning about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide! John Stossel even circulated a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide in Times Square and almost everyone he asked signed the petition banning water! Water vapor from the natural process of evaporation is a much stronger greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide but somehow I doubt politicians could convince us to tax water, so they call for a carbon tax, knowing that many of us don’t know that carbon dioxide is not pollution and all of us exhale it constantly.

It should surprise nobody that often the ‘solution’ to problems involves more taxes, more government regulation, which results in more power in the hands of politicians, who reward their supporters with taxpayer goodies and notoriety for those who create alarm among the general public. Not surprisingly, Al Gore has made a mint from his ‘green energy’ investments!

In their rush to offer “solutions” to global warming, climate alarmists are missing an important first step: proof that man-made emissions of Carbon Dioxide is causing climate change in the first place. Earth’s climate has changed from the beginning of time, long before the industrial age resulted in increases in emissions of Carbon Dioxide. Carbon Dioxide is a naturally occurring gas in our atmosphere, not pollution. Humans and animal life forms breathe oxygen, and exhale Carbon Dioxide. Plants do the reverse, absorbing Carbon Dioxide and release oxygen, using the carbon to grow.

Over 31,000 scientists have signed a petition stating:

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

There’s an excellent compilation of peer-reviewed research papers on their web site as well as a video debunking man-made global warming claims, written at a level easy for anyone with a background in science or engineering to understand. I have a background in engineering, and will summarize several key points using charts from the Global Warming Petition Project.

First, a review of the Earth’s temperature over the past 3,000 years shows temperatures have always changed, and our recent temperatures are actually below the 3,000 year average. Notably the Earth’s temperatures are increasing after a “little ice age” which peaked when George Washington was camped at Valley Forge, but even then temperatures were about 1 degree Centigrade below the 3,000 year average.

In fact, surface temperatures closely follow solar activity:

Despite recent claims, especially after Hurricane Sandy, there has been no increase increase in Atlantic hurricanes, and the number of tornadoes is actually declining!

There has not been an increase in severity of Atlantic hurricanes despite claims of climate alarmists, who most claimed Hurricane Sandy was likely more severe due to global warming.

Actually, the number of tornadoes in the U.S. has been decreasing, but every time there is a rash of tornadoes climate alarmists warn us again about global warming!

Climate alarmists are fond of pointing to glacier ice loss as evidence of global warming, even as they often point to snowstorms as evidence of global warming! However, the glacier shortening phenomenon began long before man-made emissions of Carbon Dioxide started! Perhaps we should dub this argument ‘effect and cause’ rather than the widely accepted notion of ’cause and effect’!

The Global Warming Petition Project claims glacier shortening is due to solar activity, not Carbon Dioxide emissions:

Glaciers regularly lengthen and shorten in delayed correlation with cooling and warming trends. Shortening lags temperature by about 20 years, so the current warming trend began in about 1800.

Lastly, climate alarmist would have us believe carbon dioxide is lethal, destroying the planet, etc. As mentioned earlier, however, carbon dioxide is a naturally occurring gas that plants breathe in order to grow. The Global Warming Petition Project concludes that producing more carbon dioxide is a benefit to our planet, and rather than increase towards level harmful to man, plants, especially trees, are responding to increased emissions of carbon dioxide by growing faster!

Plant growth is also enhanced. Chart shows 279 experiments in which plants of various types were raised under CO2-enhanced conditions. Plants under stress from less-than-ideal conditions (red) – a common occurrence in nature – respond more to CO2 fertilization (blue).

In summary, global warming is an environmental scam designed to support growth in government, especially world government, and as Obama’s failed green energy programs show, crony capitalism benefits as well. In several failed green energy companies funded by taxpayers, Obama campaign finance bundlers have been identified as key players in winning taxpayer funding.

Pro-Immigrant Republicans React to AZ Election Results: AZ Turning Purple!

Phoenix, Arizona – National pro-immigration GOP group Cafe Con Leche Republicans today reacted to Arizona’s election results.

Nationally, the election results show the Republican Party needs to fundamentally change the way the GOP engages with Hispanics, who overwhelmingly voted for Obama, especially the tone on immigration. According to a Pew Research polls, 62% of Hispanics are center-right ideologically, yet Mitt Romney received 23%, barely one third of that. Just eight years ago President Bush received over 40% of the Hispanic vote.

Mitt Romney received bad advice and focused messaging to Hispanics on the economy and largely ignored immigration. However, as Marco Rubio said “It’s very hard to make the economic argument to people who think you want to deport their grandmother.”

In 1994 California Gov. Pete Wilson jumped on the anti-illegal immigration Proposition 187 bandwagon to bolster his flagging reelection poll numbers. Proposition 187 drove legions of conservative Hispanics from the GOP, and the GOP has not been competitive in statewide races in California ever since.

Arizona has been the scene of some of the harshest rhetoric on immigration, and this week’s election results show many Arizonans, especially Hispanics, reject extremism on immigration, and while they want secure borders, they also want practical and humane solutions to our broken immigration system.

For a ‘deep red’ state, this week’s results show that extremism on immigration is hurting the Republican Party in Arizona. Normally Arizona’s U.S. Senate seats are ‘safe’ for Republicans because Arizona is a very conservative state, but Jeff Flake received a bare majority, just 50.01%, in his U.S. Senate race against a Democratic candidate with considerable personal baggage.

It is rare for Libertarian candidates anywhere to receive more than 1% of the vote, but in Arizona many Libertarian candidates received well over 1% in competitive three-way races, while the Libertarian presidential candidate received 1.29% in Arizona versus 0.9% nationally. Here are the Libertarian Party unofficial results in competitive three-way races in Arizona from the Arizona Secretary of State web site:

U.S. Senate 4.38%
Congressional District 1 – 5.88% (Republican Jonathon Paton lost to Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, 48.49% – 45.54% due to Libertarian vote)
Congressional District 3 – 4.37%
Congressional District 4 – 3.7%
Congressional District 6 – 3.29%
Congressional District 9 – 6.35% (Republican Vernon Parker lost to Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, 47.81% – 45.71% due to Libertarian vote)
Legislative District 8 Senator – 4.9% (Republican Joe Ortiz lost to Democrat Barbara McGuire, 48.68% – 46.32% due to Libertarian vote)

Libertarian party values and positions are much closer to conservatives than liberals, and it is apparent many conservatives voted Libertarian in protest against the Arizona GOP’s heavy tilt into extremism in recent years. In Congressional districts one and nine, and senator from LD 8, it is apparent the Libertarian candidate siphoned enough votes away from the GOP candidate that the Democrat won the election!

It would be easy to attribute the Libertarian protest vote to other reasons, but in the 2010 election Libertarian Andrea Garcia won 9% of the vote against Russell Pearce, one of Arizona’s most notorious immigration extremists, the second highest ever for any Libertarian candidate in a competitive three-way race. Andrea Garcia was a GOP activist for many years, before moving to Mesa and finding an unwelcome climate in the GOP there, and switching to Libertarian.

Another Republican activist for many years, Blanca Guerra, left the GOP and ran as a Libertarian, in large measure due to the hostility she encountered. Blanca was one of Cafe Con Leche Republican’s founding members, and initially ran as a GOP candidate for CD 3 before leaving the GOP (and Cafe Con Leche Republicans) to run as a Libertarian. In reviewing election results for CD 3 over a period of years shows candidates with more extreme views on immigration lose by larger margins.

A welcome exception to Arizona’s trend towards purple is Bob Worsley’s election as Senator in LD 25. Bob Worsley is a conservative Mormon, who has been pastor in a predominately Hispanic Church, spent years overseas as a missionary in Latin America, and has sensible views on immigration and understands immigration and Hispanics. Not surprisingly, he won handily against his Democratic opponent, and also handily defeated Russell Pearce in the GOP primary.

It’s time for a wave of change in the Arizona GOP. Arizona is clearly turning purple, and a high percentage of Hispanics, Arizona’s fastest growing demographic is voting Democrat, despite generally conservative values. We’ve lately heard rumors that Russell Pearce may become Arizona’s next state chairman. In our opinion, electing Russell Pearce as Arizona GOP Chairman would be catastrophic for the GOP. If anything Pearce should step down as First Vice-Chair, as he is one of the most polarizing figures in Arizona politics today. It’s time to return the Arizona GOP to the Party of Lincoln, following Reagan’s “big tent” model rather than shrinking the GOP base into something more of a ‘pup tent.’

National Pro-Immigration GOP Group: Time to Make Lemonade from Lemons

Yesterday’s election results show it is imperative that the Republican Party improve Latino outreach or become permanently uncompetitive in presidential and many other races. Exit and election-eve polls put Mitt Romney’s votes among Latinos at 23%, although over 60% of Latinos are center-right, according to Pew Research.

Polls consistently show a majority of Republicans support immigration reform, including a path to legalization, and a PEW Research poll from May 2011 showed that even among staunch conservatives there is a 49/49% split on immigration reform. However, due to lack of engagement and outreach and shrill rhetoric on this issue from a small minority of Republican politicians, Democrats have been successful in unfairly framing the Republican party as anti-immigrant and anti-Latino, particularly in states where there has been harsh rhetoric on immigration.

This trend started in California. Prior to proposition 187, Republicans were competitive in statewide races, but since Governor Pete Wilson jumped on the proposition 187 bandwagon, many Hispanics left the GOP and since then the GOP has not been competitive in statewide races in California.

Latino outreach improved during the Reagan/Bush years, and President Bush won over 40% of the Latino vote during his reelection campaign, proving that Latinos can be swayed to vote Republican with the right messaging and sensible solutions to issues of interest to Latinos like immigration.

However, since SB1070 and other harsh laws were passed, mass exodus of conservative Hispanics has occurred in Colorado following Tom Tancredo’s candidacy for Governor, in Arizona following SB1070, and in Nevada due to harsh rhetoric from Sharon Angle in the U.S. Senate race.

Cafe Con Leche Republicans initially supported Newt Gingrich, and one of our reasons is that Newt’s campaign recognized the importance of outreach to Latinos and a sensible stance on immigration reform, neither mass amnesty nor mass deportations but a solution that addresses our broken immigration system and seeks to strike a balance between accountability for illegal immigration, and the need to keep families together and avoid damaging our economy. Newt’s campaign reached out to us, and ultimately Cafe Con Leche Republicans provided five members of Newt’s national Hispanic leadership team.

When Newt dropped out of the race and Mitt Romney became the nominee, we decided to support Mitt Romney. Numerous attempts to connect with the Romney campaign’s Hispanic outreach proved fruitless. In our one year of existence, we’ve also had just one conversation with the RNC’s Latino outreach, and were left with the impression the RNC wasn’t interested in working with us due to our pro-immigration focus.

A common complaint among Latino Republican leaders is that RNC Latino outreach is dominated by a small clique of Latino Republicans from Washington DC and Florida, to the exclusion of others, particularly from the Southwest. We share the frustration of Latino Republican leaders from outside the DC/Florida clique that Mitt Romney received bad advice to largely ignore immigration, and some of Mitt’s rhetoric and association with immigration extremist Kris Kobach early in the campaign provided useful fodder for Democrats to frame Mitt Romney as anti-immigrant and anti-Latino, which we don’t believe is the case.

It’s time to root out the small minority of immigration extremists from the GOP. That process is already underway, for example Russell Pearce, the author of SB1070, has now twice been defeated by conservative Republicans who differed mainly by having sensible positions on immigration reform. We’d like to see Kris Kobach leave the party. Kobach is a top lieutenant to John Tanton, a notorious bigot and population control progressive, who once bragged how he manipulates Republicans. In a letter to a supporter, Tanton in 2001 stated:

The goal is to change Republicans’ perception of immigration so that when they encounter the word “immigrant,” their reaction is “Democrat.”

Our plan is to hire a lobbyist who will carry the following message to Republicans on Capitol Hill and to business leaders: Continued massive immigration will soon cost you political control of the White House and Congress, given the current, even division of the electorate, and the massive infusion of voters about to be made to the Democratic side. We are about to replay the Democratic hegemony of 1933-53, fueled back then by the massive immigration of 1890-1924.

It’s time for the GOP to recognize this pattern of manipulation, and fully embrace immigration reform based on free market principles, and not arbitrarily low quotas promoted by population control progressives like Tanton. Harsh rhetoric on immigration coupled with lack of adequate engagement with Latinos and race baiting by Democrats has resulted in very low GOP support among Latinos, and we ignore this at our own political peril.

The 2012 election served up lemons for Republicans, but with sensible changes in strategy and direction we can make lemonade instead. Already we’re hearing that party leaders have woken up and ‘smelled the coffee’ and we’re hopeful this situation can be turned around.

President Obama promised to pursue immigration reform during his second term. Due to President Obama’s history of immigration fakery and failure to put anything on the table during his first term, we have reason to doubt this promise, but he is welcome to surprise us. With the election behind us, we have put our partisan hats and boxing gloves aside, and we stand fully ready to work with President Obama and Democrats on immigration reform, which won’t happen without bipartisan support. We hope that President Obama will ‘hit the reset button’ in his relationship with Republicans in Congress, as the hyper-partisanship that has characterized the last four years has been a major stumbling block to governing our nation.

It’s the Morning After the First Debate, and I’m Giddy

Wow! I’m giddy. I was surprised and thrilled by Gov. Romney’s performance in last night’s debate (Oct. 3). I watched the debate with 7 other Conservatives, time-delayed by a Tivo box so that we could halt the action and toss in our own comments.

Several of us were apprehensive at the outset, but by the end of the debate we had worked ourselves into a frenzy of excitement, shouting “Yes! Yes! Yes!” as he pounded home those key points that free-market, limited-government, fiscal-responsibility Conservatives have been trumpeting for years.

Now I have to confess. I had no idea that Gov. Romney had this in him. Sure, he’d had some brief flashes on the campaign trail, and his style turned for the better after naming Paul Ryan as his VP. But like many Conservatives, I feared the Governor was just the next-in-line Establishment Republican candidate — doomed to be another gracious loser.

I’m still absorbing what I saw & heard, and I’ll have to go through the whole debate again, but I do remember Romney’s first home run of the evening (for me) when he pointed out the immorality of the debt we are piling on the backs of our children. As I’ve written in the past (here, here, and here for example), we are effectively selling them into a modern-day version of debt bondage. At last we have a candidate who leads with that point against all those “compassionate” Democrats, the people who supposedly “care”.

As for Obama’s own performance, a repeated interjection among my friends was “He’s flailing, he’s flailing!”. Time and again he reached back for his standard campaign talking points, sometimes well off-topic, and he was visibly shell-shocked when Romney put them down emphatically, with compelling refutation points, nicely bulleted and driven home like nails in a coffin (puns intended).

If you can watch the debate again, keep an eye on Obama’s upper jaw near his left ear as he stares down at his podium. One of our friends spotted it first. You’ll see a light spot come and go as he visibly clenches and unclenches his teeth. This man is used to adulation and acquiescence, not reasoned confrontation. Bound up in his Leftist ideology and surrounded 24/7 by sycophants and a fawning, collaborative media, he was totally unprepared to defend his indefensible record. He spent much of the evening staring down at that podium as if being scolded by his school master.

Obama will be better prepared at the next debate, and Romney will have to guard against over-confidence. But I’m no longer worried. Obama’s hand is incredibly weak — almost everywhere, he’s holding a pair of deuces against Romney’s full house. And Romney’s better at the game — much better.

Of course, the election ain’t over ’til it’s over, and the Obama machine, the Great American Left, and the Democrat Media Complex won’t go gently into the night. But we have ourselves a candidate in Mitt Romney, and I have a new-found confidence that he and his staff might just run this campaign right across the finish line going away, and leading by several lengths.

Then, the long hard path to recovery begins.

WASHINGTON — Over two years ago, President Obama’s $1.76 trillion healthcare tax law was passed, which forced every Arizonan to purchase health insurance. Now, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released a report on how devastating this tax is for middle-class families. Yet Democrat Richard Carmona supports the law and even called the President “brave” for pushing it.

According to the report, nearly 6 million Americans – most of whom are middle class individuals – will be forced to pay the ObamaCare tax penalty for not purchasing healthcare. Additionally, this tax is expected to cost each individual approximately $1,200.

As the Associated Press reports:

“Nearly 6 million Americans – most of them in the middle class – will face a tax penalty for not carrying medical coverage once President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law is fully in place, congressional budget analysts said Wednesday. … And the budget office analysis found that nearly 80 percent of those who’ll face the penalty would be making up to or less than five times the federal poverty level. Notably, the Wall Street Journal reported that ObamaCare was the largest tax increase ever on the middle class.

“This non-partisan report makes clear that Democrat Richard Carmona’s healthcare law is a massive tax on Arizona families and small businesses,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “In Democrat Richard Carmona’s world, President Obama would get re-elected, we would have higher tax hikes, and an even bigger government debt.”

Are the Democrats Sensing Defeat? Ask Chris Matthews.

Are any of you Conservative news junkies sensing what I’m sensing?

Namely –

It seems the Leftist media are finally sensing defeat in November. And I mean really sensing it. The willful self-deception that they’ve cultivated for so long is crumbling. Their messiah is false. He’s failed. And rather miserably at that. And he may well take the party down with him in just a few weeks.

Why do I think they’re sensing defeat?

One of their media princelings, Chris Matthews, the bloviating, spittle-spewing host of MSNBC’s Hardball, shifted rather abruptly into defensive alibi mode on the August 31 edition of his show, less than 24 hours after Mitt Romney’s RNC acceptance speech. Matthews began slathering blame on “Republican opposition” for Obama’s failure, this time including a freshly announced conspiracy, ostensibly hatched “in secret” back in 2009, to oppose the President’s policies.

Short memo to Chris: The opposition opposes. That’s what they do. Especially when your messiah sets about to do what he’s done. And every minority party seeks to regain the majority. It’s nothing personal, okay?

But more importantly –

What Obama failure are you talking about? So now Obama has failures? Are you now implying he’ll lose the upcoming election? Are you seeking to lay off the blame for that in advance?

Sheesh. This is quite a shift for a mawkishly liberal, self-delusional, sycophantic, Obama camp follower like you, no? Has that 2008 tingle up your leg migrated to a 2012 chill up your spine?

What happened? Did you watch the RNC speeches that your network wouldn’t air? Were you frightened by the depth of the Republican bench? (If so, eat your heart out, pal.) Did you mentally compare Paul Ryan to Joe Biden and suffer a panic attack?

I occasionally enjoy your show for its unintentional humor, but the sea change in your August 31 show was positively delightful. Please do it again on your next show. Please. As the RNC mystery guest said: Go ahead. Make my day.

A Responsible Doctor Confirms: Obamacare Won’t Work — It’s Just Too Complicated

A few days ago, I posted an article titled “Obamacare’s Fatal Flaws: Complexity and Central Control.” I argued that the whole Obamacare system was too complex to deliver on its promises, especially when operated by political appointees from a Washington-based central control bureaucracy.

I know virtually nothing about the practice of medicine. I based my argument on four decades in the engineering business, where complex systems designed from scratch never work, especially when they are pressed into service under full load, with high expectations, much too soon.

And now from the US House of Representatives Oversight Committee comes the testimony of Richard A. Armstrong, MD, Chief Operating Officer of Docs4PatientCare. His clear and compelling testimony, at this link, is worth reading in its entirety, but the key paragraphs for this brief post are (my emphasis added):

Although the ACA attempts to address many of the perceived problems with our health care system, it ignores the fact that enormously complex systems cannot be successfully centrally designed or controlled. We have been attempting that with Medicare and Medicaid for almost five decades. Any honest and objective appraisal would conclude that we are failing with those programs. The ACA will fail as well, for the same reasons.
…
[Some ACA supporters have claimed] that the ACA will remove the burdens of bureaucracy and overhead that currently plague our nation’s practicing physicians. How can we possibly take this seriously? It creates an estimated 159 new agencies, boards and committees governing in detail how physicians are to care for their patients and run their practices. In a time of decreasing reimbursement and the lack of an alternative for the Sustainable Growth Rate formula in Medicare, these claims of bureaucratic simplification ring hollow with experienced physicians.

Shifting to electronic medical records has been touted as a means to improve patient care. Even though the HITECH portion of the Stimulus Bill provides financial support for the adoption of electronic medical records and the ACA provides incentives for those who meet federally defined meaningful use, only a minority of physician practices have adopted EMR systems. A majority of those who have attempted have been met with major frustrations and financial burdens. This is because the existing systems are not designed to enhance patient care. They are business systems designed for medical coding and billing. They are cumbersome in design, difficult to use and detract from the already limited time most physicians have to spend with patients.

Quite apart from all the politics, the fatal flaw of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, Obamacare) is that it simply won’t work. How many people will suffer and how many lives will be lost as Washington feeds our life savings into this bottomless sink hole, this mother of all white elephants?

Picture yourself pleading for a loved-one’s life with an uncaring bureaucracy of blame-shifters and formerly fine doctors who must now slavishly follow rules issued from Washington. From those bureaucrats and hapless doctors, you can almost hear the responses now:

The voice mailbox for this department is full. Please call back later.

I don’t make these rules, ma’am — I just follow them.

You’ll have to get in line like everyone else. We’ll call you back when it’s your turn.

If I made an exception for you, I’d have to do it for everyone. It’s illegal. I could lose my job.

I’m sorry, I can’t help you … I could lose my license to practice medicine

I’m sorry, the doctor is not accepting new patients.

You’re yelling at the wrong person … try yelling at your Congressman!

In the meantime, you can be sure that Washington politicians will enjoy first-rate medical care with no waiting.

In the engineering business, when a system can no longer be patched or tuned, it has to be scrapped. That’s where we are now with the whole gang in Washington that brought us to the edge of this national health care nightmare.

The Supreme Court has abdicated, and now there’s only We-the-People who can change things this November. Surely America’s voters can be forgiven for being fooled once. But to be blunt about it –

Anyone who votes again for Barack Obama or for any politician who has supported Obamacare should understand one thing: the pending national disaster in healthcare is on YOU !

The ‘Obama Factor’ and Unemployment Statistics

The state-controlled Democrat Media Complex (DMC) loves to tout tiny improvements in the unemployment rate as evidence that the “President’s plans are working”.

I have to agree — those plans are working just fine — if what the President wants to do is reduce the number of makers and boost the number of takers. On that score, Obama has made undeniable progress from Day One of his administration.

As evidence –

See the chart below, which shows the Labor Force Participation (LFP) Rate. This statistic answers the following simple question:

What fraction of our total civilian working-age population is actually employed?

In this statistic, people are counted as either working or not-working. It doesn’t matter whether they’re looking for work or not. That makes this statistic harder to “fudge” than the widely reported “unemployment rate”. While there are month-to-month variations, note the steady, linear decline in the trend lines since Obama took office in January, 2009. Well done, Mr. President!

This is The Obama Factor. It’s a phenomenon, a statistical trend, and a chart we should all demand to see every time the state-controlled DMC reports the usual unemployment rate statistic. If the DMC doesn’t oblige, continuing the malpractice of what it still calls “journalism”, you can find the chart at this link.

So …

Do Obama’s re-election prospects get worse as the LFP rate continues to fall? One might think so, but the answer is No. Perversely, his prospects actually get better! There are two reasons:

First, all those newly unemployed people are prime candidates to become new Obama model-citizens. He convinces them they are victims of the vilified “1%”, he offers them extended unemployment benefits with more borrowed money, and, with high confidence, he chalks them up as Obama-voters come election time.

Second, once these folks say they are no longer looking for work, they no longer count as “unemployed”. Consequently, they contribute to a drop in the commonly reported unemployment statistic.

This is terrific news for Obama — a double win — as long as voters remain stone-cold ignorant of The Obama Factor.

As an aside, if you are an Obama believer who is currently unemployed but still looking for work, you could help the president’s “job numbers” if you would just stop looking for work two to three months before the election. If only half of the unemployed-but-still-looking would do that, the official unemployment rate would drop to between 4% and 5% just before the election. Wouldn’t that make a great campaign talking point for your beloved leader?

But I digress.

If Democrats/Progressives manage to re-elect Obama, The Obama Factor trend will continue — possibly accelerating. One day soon there will be so many takers that they can out-vote, out-shout, and out-threaten the makers. As the takers demand more and more, the makers produce less and less as they lose their remaining incentive to generate new jobs, products, services, and income only to see it confiscated. Eventually, many of them go on a virtual “strike” as the industrialists did in Ayn Rand’s newly relevant novel Atlas Shrugged. Soon thereafter, the Democrats/Progressives run out of other people’s money, borrowing power, and resources.

There will then follow some combination of rationing, civil unrest, martial law, tyranny, and virtual slavery to The State. The only alternative will be starvation or imprisonment in The State’s prisons and gulags. It has happened many times in many places. WesternFreePress.com recently interviewed three direct eye witnesses (here, here, and here).

Preposterous you say? Such a disaster could never happen here? Stick around. It’s on its way (before 2027) unless we act to stop it. And Obama recently laid more critical groundwork for this nightmare with his stealthy signature of the National Defense Authorization Act. That law gives him dictatorial powers over American citizens when and if he chooses. These powers violate (at a minimum) the Fifth and Sixth Amendment protections in the Constitution. But Obama has told us not to worry because he won’t use those powers unless he really has to. Small comfort.

This November, we have one last solid chance to reverse The Obama Factor, turn the economy around, and restore Constitutionally protected freedoms. Here’s hoping we score an electoral victory large enough to effect those changes as well as overcome the Left’s continuing attempts to commit vote fraud.

As one of the Republican candidates for President has said, the 2012 election is the most important US election since 1860. Those who again fall for Obama’s rhetoric, voting for him again despite his record, must share responsibility for the all-but-certain national mega-disaster that is headed our way.

WFP: Attack Watch, Obama’s New Campaign Site Created to “Fight Smears,” Becomes Laughing Stock of Internet

Attack Watch, Obama’s new website paid for by Obama for America, has become the laughing stock of conservatives.

What is this site about?

Obama for America national field director Jeremy Bird told ABC Newsthat the site’s goal is to offer “resources to fight back” against attacks. Mostly, that means fact checking statements from the likes of GOP presidential contenders Mitt Romney and Rick Perry and conservative commentator Glenn Beck and offering evidence to the contrary. The site is designed in bold red and black colors, and uses statements like “support the truth” and “fight the smears.”

Sadly, President Obama’s team has laid another goose egg. Almost every tweet about the site has ridiculed it. Conservative bloggers and pundits have had a field day poking fun at Obama.

Aside from the poor political strategy of creating a “snitch” site, Victor Davis Hanson points out the obvious “big brother” vibe.

Yet go onto the new (“Paid for by Obama for America”) AttackWatch.com website. It reads and looks like some sort of Stasi file (“file” is their vocabulary, not mine). It asks readers to inform them of criticism of Obama. The format is, I guess by intent, supposed to resemble a government intelligence dossier (“Attack files”), with its blaring black and red headers: “Attack” /”Attackers” (followed by names and pictures of the supposed bad guys)/”Attack Type” /(“public statements”) followed by check off boxes like “Have your seen or heard this attack?” “Yes/No”. It reminds me of of living in 1973 dictatorial Greece, when we all kept silent about the Colonels upon entering the apartment building, lest the government-paid concierge write something down not nice in her black book.

Apparently no one in the administration learned from the spooky tone of the now defunct Journolist. That obtuseness begs the question, what is it with these extra-journalistic efforts to intimidate critics, as if the 2012 campaign will be based around deterrence: e.g., as if: “Beware: if you criticize Barack Obama, your name and picture will appear on our “Attack File”. We are watching you, so you watch out!”

So creepier still is the request to snoop around and collect evidence for what the Roman emperors and French monarchs used to call maiestas/Lèse-majesté—supposed crimes against the head of state, by circulating criticism of his authority that might lessen his proper sense of majesty. Indeed, on AttackWatch.com there is a special pop-up window that is reminiscent of Crimestoppers.com that supposedly will help form some sort of a clearing house: “Your email”/”content of attack or link”/”Attack type”, “Attach” with a link “Report” that pops up yet another window.

But back to poking fun, Ezra Dulis makes a hilarious parody video.

The Washington Post’s Elizabeth Flock paints a clearer picture of why this is a poor political strategy.

While the initiative is reminiscent of a similar online effort launched during the 2008 campaign, called Fight the Smears, the intimidating design and language of the new site seems to be what’s causing a bigger ruckus.

Fight the Smears looked and felt far less scary, quoting Obama at the top of its page in a classic hope-change statement: “What you won’t hear from this campaign or this party is the kind of politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon — that sees our opponents not as competitors to challenge but enemies to demonize.”

Attack Watch, on the other hand, uses the shorter tagline, “Get the Truth. Fight the Smears.”

It’s safe to say that in its 24 hours of existence, Attack Watch has already backfired, becoming a tool for conservatives to use against Obama 2012. A tweet by conservative author Brad Thor summed up the critics’s argument: “Wow, not only are Obama & Co. incredibly thin-skinned, they’re paranoid.”

Paranoid? You think? Already the conservative odd makers are betting when Obama’s people will pull the site.

President Obama is in emergency mode. Nevada and New York’s special elections were a GOP sweep. Particularly in New York’s 9^th District, where a Republican has not held the seat since 1922 and where Democrats have previously won by 20 points. Even in Nevada, the Republican outperformed expectations and did surprisingly well. Even Nate Silver says, the 2010 Republican wave has not ended.

“In other words, the four special elections, taken as a whole, suggest that Democrats may still be locked in a 2010-type political environment. Democrats might not lose many more seats in the House if that were the case, since most of their vulnerable targets have already been picked off, but it would limit their potential for any gains. And it could produce dire results for the Democrats in the U.S. Senate, where they have twice as many seats up for re-election.”

The best exit quote of the night from NY-09’s Republican victory.

“I am a registered Democrat, I have always been a registered Democrat, I come from a family of Democrats — and I hate to say this, I voted Republican,” said Linda Goldberg, 61, after casting her ballot in Queens. “I need to send a message to the president that he’s not doing a very good job. Our economy is horrible. People are scared.”

Doom. What will a desperate President do next?

Three Times a Charm for GM

President Obama’s administration is SO good at resolving our economic calamities that they are now going to TRIPLE-DOWN on GMAC. According to the LA Times, GM is simply too big to fail, which makes perfect sense as long as Barack continues to throw billions down the rat hole. Even though the president has told us that he has brought us back from the brink in May, in September, and October, apparently General Motor’s financial division did not get that memo.

A Treasury Department spokesman confirmed that it was in talks with GMAC about a third helping of aid. The government already owns a 35 percent stake in GMAC after providing $12.5 billion to the lender. It also owns a majority-stake in GM and a smaller stake in Chrysler.

Kirk Ludtke, a senior vice president of CRT Capital Group LLC in Stamford, Conn., who follows GMAC, said the automakers can’t succeed without GMAC. “We continue to believe that a viable GMAC is critical to the success of GM and Chrysler,” Ludtke said. [This in spite of the fact that GMAC posted a wider second-quarter loss of $3.9 billion].

Treasury’s move would make GMAC the only U.S. company to receive three rounds of bailout aid.

Last December, the government gave GMAC $5 billion in exchange for 5 million shares and GMAC’s agreement to extend financing services to bailed-out Chrysler LLC.
Then in May, the Treasury Department announced a new $7.5 billion injection for GMAC — short of the $11.5 billion the government’s stress test showed the company would need to stay afloat if the economy worsens.
And now, The Wall Street Journal first reported late Tuesday that the U.S. government could hand over another $2.8 billion to $5.6 billion to Detroit-based GMAC.

In less than one year, Barack will sling $15 billion+ into a company that continues to plummet into obscurity. A wise farmer friend of mine shares the best common-sense advice: when you find yourself deep in a hole, STOP DIGGING. But again we are talking about common sense, which is none too common in Washington DC.
