The Thin Blue Line Between Gary Kiehne and Paul Babeu

Political analysts see Arizona’s CD-1 primary race tightening with rancher Gary Kiehne quickly closing in on Paul Babeu.

Kiehne has self-funded his current and former campaigns with over $750,000 of his own money. With so much of his personal wealth at stake, Kiehne began attacking Babeu last week.

Early Ballots will hit mailboxes on August 3 with the bulk of the votes taking place before Primary Election Day.

Pundits expect Babeu to fire back with both barrels. Why? Kiehne is highly vulnerable – especially now – because of his 2014 gaffe comparing Arizona law enforcement to Nazi SS agents. Not a winsome remark to have made considering law enforcement personnel are literally being attacked across the country.

If Babeu is to maintain his lead in the race, watch for him to remind voters that Keihne crossed the thin blue line when he showed callous disrespect toward the law enforcement community in 2014.

Arizona Law Enforcement Supports Andy Tobin

Andy Tobin

The support for Andy Tobin’s Congressional Campaign within the Arizona law enforcement community has tremendous support and continues to gain momentum.

Four Sheriffs from Arizona’s First Congressional District have announced their endorsement of Tobin, citing his proven leadership in fighting to secure the border and supporting policies to keep Arizonans safe.

Sheriffs Allred, Sheahan, Richards and Mascher join Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who endorsed the campaign in October. Additionally, Tobin’s congressional campaign received endorsements from The Arizona Police Association and The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.

“I am pleased to join my fellow sheriffs in supporting Andy Tobin for Congress,” said Graham County Sheriff P.J. Allred. “It’s important to have a proven fighter for rural Arizona law enforcement in Washington. That is why I am endorsing him for United States Congress in my district.”

“Andy Tobin has been a leader in Arizona State government for years,” said Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan. “I am fully supporting Andy in his bid to become a member of the United States Congress. Andy Tobin will bring that energetic leadership to congress that is presently lacking, especially in the 1st Congressional District of Arizona. Andy will make an excellent congressman.”

“I have known Speaker Tobin for many years,” said Retired Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards (1960-2004). “As Sheriff of Coconino County for more than 40 years, I am very familiar with the concerns and needs of rural Arizonans. I have followed Andy’s entire legislative career, and I am wholeheartedly convinced that he will faithfully represent the needs of Coconino County residents and all rural Arizonans in Washington. It is for these reasons that I am endorsing Andy Tobin for Congress.”

“As a law enforcement professional, I believe Andy Tobin understands the challenges we face daily and supports our objectives,” said Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher. “Andy Tobin has been a consistent advocate for the law enforcement issues faced in Arizona. I am pleased to endorse his campaign.”

“Andy has a proven record of fighting to enforce the law and protect Arizonans from illegal drug cartels and human smuggling,” said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. “We need more people in Washington who have stood tall against illegal immigration and understand its negative effects not only on Arizona but the entire country. As the Sheriff of Pinal County, I see the consequences of the federal government’s refusal to secure our border everyday. I’m confident that Andy Tobin is the only person in this race with the experience, record and the commitment to public safety and border security. That’s why I am endorsing Speaker Tobin for U.S. Congress.”

“Like most Americans, law enforcement and all public safety personnel hold a special place in my heart,” said Speaker Andy Tobin. “My father is a 22 year veteran of the New York City Police Department. I carry the values he instilled in my siblings and myself with me to this day. To have the support of Sheriffs Allred, Babeu, Mascher, Richards and Sheahan will go a long way toward securing our borders and serving rural Arizonans. My sincerest thanks to these great Sheriffs and to all public safety professionals for their daily sacrifice.”

Andy Tobin has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to Arizonians which has earned him the respect and endorsement of our community at large.  We can count on him to represent us in Congress with consistent conservative values and conviction.

APA Holds Press Conference to Voice Support For Speaker Andy Tobin for Congress

In a joint press conference with the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, the Arizona Police Association announced today their endorsement of House Speaker Andy Tobin for United States Congress in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. The Arizona Police Association and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association represent over 11,000 local, county, state, and federal officers in the state of Arizona.

“Arizona’s Law Enforcement Officers have appreciated the long-standing relationship Speaker Tobin has had with those who serve and protect,” said Levi Bolton, Jr., Executive Director of the Arizona Police Association. “Police officers appreciate those who say what they mean and mean what they say and keep the best interests of the taxpayers and citizens of Arizona in mind.”

“The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association wholeheartedly endorses Speaker Andy Tobin for United States Congress,” said Arizona Law Enforcement Association President Joe Clure. “Andy has always advocated for public safety officials in the Arizona Legislature. From border security to drug interdiction, I know that Andy’s logical and practical voice is one that we can count on in Washington.”

“This is a very special day for me,” said House Speaker Andy Tobin. “My father is a retired New York Police Department Lieutenant. I carry with me everyday the values he instilled in myself and my siblings. The law enforcement officials in our cities, towns and communities across Arizona are on the frontlines keeping Arizonans safe. I couldn’t be happier that these great Americans have chosen to endorse our campaign. As we continue campaigning all over rural Arizona, I look forward to meeting with and learning from the great public safety officials that these two associations represent.”

Please join us for a Seminar on Child Sex Trafficking

INVITES YOU TO ATTEND

Seminar on Child Sex Trafficking

Join Bill Montgomery, Maricopa D.A. and Starbright Foundation Directors Lori Regnier and
Michael Chalberg, in a discussion of what legislators and law enforcement is doing to crack
down on child sex trafficking; and what you as a community can do in the prevention, intercession
and recovery for these young victims of these crimes who cannot speak for themselves.

Bill Montgomery was elected Maricopa County Attorney in 2010 on a pledge to fight crime,
honor victims’ rights, and protect and strengthen our community. Recognizing that violent
child sexual predators cannot be rehabilitated, Bill has been an outspoken advocate for life
sentences for these offenders. He also supports GPS monitoring for other convicted child
molesters, and Internet sting operations to capture child predators before they get the chance
to victimize our children. His goal is to let would-be child predators know they will find no
safe haven in Arizona.

Lori Regnier is a volunteer for Shepherds Care Ministries where she helps survivors of
sexual abuse. Lori has 2 years of experience in security/protection. Also, as the President of
Child Enrichment Programs, Inc., Lori strived to help underprivileged youth in our valley
and their families in need. She has expanded her interest in the wellbeing of children to the
Starbright Foundation where she pledges to be a positive role model and will assist in
rescuing endangered children from abusive situations. Recently in 2011, Lori was chosen as
one of Arizona’s “Top 30 Women of Courage” for making a positive change in the lives of
children and families in Arizona.

Michael E. Chalberg is pastor and cofounder of Shepherds Care Ministries and has served in
Christian ministries for the last 30 years. These last 17 years in Pastoral Counseling have
revealed the need for a more focused ministry to help the children trapped in ongoing sexual
abuse through human trafficking across our nation. He founded Starbright Foundation with
fellow volunteers to fight against this rising problem. He hopes to increase public awareness
of child sexual abuse and trafficking through education to generate community involvement
in the prevention of this growing social problem.
