U.S. Rep. McSally Statement on Death of S. AZ Resident in Afghanistan

TUCSON – U.S. Representative Martha McSally today released the following statement after a C-130J crashed shortly after takeoff from Jalalabad Airfield, Afghanistan, killing six Airmen and five civilian passengers including Tombstone native Carlos Carrasco.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Carlos Carrasco,” said Rep. McSally. “I was able to visit our troops at Jalalabad Airfield in May and witnessed first-hand the critical work they were doing for our national security. Carlos died while serving alongside his peers to make all of us here at home safer, and our country and community are grateful for his brave service as we mourn his tragic loss.”

Carlos Carrasco was raised in Tombstone, Arizona and graduated from Tombstone High School in 2006.  He worked as a contractor for Northrop Grumman in Sierra Vista and was serving in Afghanistan as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mechanic and technician. He previously earned degrees in Avionics & UAV Technology from Cochise College.

Watch this video that highlights the sacrifice of those who serve while caring for the heroes who have given all. I was honored to be a part of this documentary while deployed to Afghanistan. Keep in mind that this video focuses on those who survive their injuries. Many more have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms. God Bless America!

Newt Gingrich vs Political Correctness on the Atrocity in Afghanistan

Now and then, a short interview exposes, as few other devices can, Right versus Left, Strength versus Weakness, and Truth versus Willful Self-Deception. We get all three and more in this Feb 24 CNN interview of Newt Gingrich on the murder of two American military personnel and wounding of four others by an Afghan soldier.

Is it any wonder that so many Americans crave this kind of upright, plainly-spoken truth in our next President, no matter who it may be?

Is it any wonder that Conservatives exult when they hear unequivocal condemnation of the Left’s “one-sided traffic in outrage” as well as its politically correct tolerance of intolerance?

Is it any wonder that so many Americans are disgusted by the the stomach-turning, skin-crawling, hand-wringing serial apologies of the current administration?

Evidently, President Obama still believes in cultivating a perception of American deference, weakness, and timidity around the world. We continue to reap what he has sown, and there is surely more to come, unless and until he is replaced.

Representative Schweikert Statement on Obama’s Afghanistan Speech

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 22, 2011
CONTACT:  Rachel Semmel

Washington, D.C. – Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ) released the following statement after President Obama’s speech calling for the withdrawal of more troops from Afghanistan:

“I am an unabashed supporter of our troops and our military leaders who fight for freedom every day. I support our military leaders and generals on the ground and defer to their expertise regarding our troop levels.

“While the time to withdrawal our troops might be fast approaching, it is not wise for us to hand our enemy our battle plans years in advance. Our gains in Afghanistan have not come without a price. While we remember our troops in harm’s way tonight, I remain adamant that whatever strategy is implemented for stabilization and withdrawal, it must not put any of our men and women in uniform even further at risk.”
