So these celebrities want us to “Demand A Plan” to end gun violence

So these celebrities put out a commercial asking Americans to Demand A Plan to end gun violence.

I agree.

Let’s have the right to protect ourselves and especially our children.

What I question is their sincerity and credibility.

I would bet that 90% of them have armed security at their concerts, filming locations and even public events. I would also bet that they don’t want armed security at our taxpayer-funded public schools for the protection of our children.

On their website, they are advocating for three things:

1. Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America
2. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines
3. Make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers”

They ask visitors to their website to sign a petition to President Obama (list building!) Keep in mind this is the same President who’s Attorney General oversaw the Fast & Furious scandal in which a US Border Patrol agent was murdered.

And if you’re wondering why I’m so angry about their hypocrisy, I’m a father whose daughter attends a high school where a crazed student threatened to kill her classmates. Fortunately, that student is now sitting in a Maricopa County detention facility.

  1. I don’t understand your point. You assume they don’t want armed security at their schools while having armed security for their events, then assume your assumption is correct by calling them hypocrites. Then on a completely different matter you point out three things they’re advocating. What about it? Are you for it or against it?

  2. I am for a plan, but not gun control. I heard a plan for putting the discharged soldiers on duty at the schools or arming some of the teachers, or retired police officers.

But maybe just maybe if we brought back disipline and morals to our children and allow prayer in the schools we would not need that.

    • Since when has prayer not been allowed in schools?
Organized prayer, yes, but that is not a “ban” on prayer in schools

With the nuts we’ve had in our legislature over the last few years and the utter submission to Cathi Herrod and her religious extremism the Republicans have shown, I am thankful for what SCOTUS has done.

  3. Just let people with a CCW permit carry on school grounds. That will stop schools from being easy kill, er, gun free zones. Murderers will no longer consider schools easy targets for committing mass slaughter.

    • Why stop at schools? We should allow CCW in all malls, movie theaters, churches, public buildings…

Why not make CCW mandatory for every person over the age of 18? Every adult armed 24/7/365 from the mountains to the prairies to the oceans. Wall-to-wall guns, one in every waistband, purse or boot holster.

While we’re at it, why not pass a federal Stand Your Ground law? That way no one can be held responsible for losing their temper and gunning down a crowd.

Every one armed and no fear of prosecution. NRA nirvana.

  4. “Fortunately, that student is now sitting in a Maricopa County detention facility.”

Thanks to the Toronto Police Department. See, that’s what real law enforcement is….

  5. Jill Arizona says

    Spoof of original video…

  6. I agree. Let’s bring back school prayer. Three hail mary’s will do, at the beginning of the school day. No protestant prayer allowed. I agree with putting armed guards into schools — as long as they are properly vetted — no criminal or misdemeanor convictions ever, on their records, credit scores above 750, etc.

Just kidding about prayer. The problem with prayer is — whose prayer? You will insult protestants with catholic prayers, catholics with protestant prayers, and Jehovah’s witnesses with either, as well as any Jews, Muslims, buddhists, and hindu’s. It doesn’t work.

The problem with armed guards in the schools is that you are placing an awful lot of responsibility and firepower onto people that may not be really stable (if they were, they wouldn’t be looking for jobs as school guards, now would they?). It won’t work. The guards may be more dangerous than the perceived threat.
