Selective coverage.

Recently the Southern Arizona press fell over themselves to cover the story that the Sahuarita Town Council is considering a resolution opposing a permanent Border Patrol checkpoint. The news was covered in print and on radio.

Right at the same time the Nogales City Council voted unanimously in support of the checkpoint. It was hard to find any coverage of this outside of the local paper.

Let’s go over that rule again. Local town considering opposing law enforcement – lots of coverage. Border town wants something done about illegal aliens – little to no coverage. Do they teach this in journalism school or does it just come naturally?
