SCOTUS Denies Arpaio

The US Supreme Court has denied an appeal by Sheriff Joe Arpaio who has fought transporting female inmates to abortion mills. For several years, Sheriff Arpaio has fought the ACLU in its effort to force Maricopa County taxpayers to pay for transporting inmates to the local abortuary. Today’s rejection of a lower court case now requires the county sheriff to participate in the killing of an unborn baby. This case illustrates the importance of electing a President who will nominate Justices who will protect innocent human life.

Where did you find the word “abortuary?”

  2. And what would you suggest those female inmates do to exercise their rights, DSW? Do you think the Sheriff should release them on their own recognizance for a few hours to get the procedure done? Or build a clinic with private dollars in the county jail specifically to provide abortions so tax dollars don’t need to be used on a bus ride?

Good to see that the court, even with the conservative buffoons who run it, displayed some common sense in rejecting Sheriff Joe’s idiocy.

    AZGuy,

By your logic it sounds like the right to kill an unborn baby trumps all other rights including the duty of a free society to protect the rights of all other citizens – life, liberty and property? Am I reading you wrong.

Well, you obviously give up certain rights upon being convicted and incarcerated. This debate is about what you give up. Do you give up privacy? Oh, yeah. Just ask some inmates. And isn’t the right to privacy what the “right” to abortion is pinned upon? You pro-aborts need to get abortion tied to a more fundamental right than “privacy” to win this round. Of course an inmate has a right to medical care, but not “elective” surgery like a facelift or an abortion.

  5. Joe is a self-promoting, publicity seeking bufoon. He has used county resources for some of the most ridiculous things possible and boasts about it with glee! He is reckless and absurd.

But…he is right on this one. I do not want one cent of my tax dollars spent on an abortion, even if it means providng the vehicle and driver to and from.

Do you know what the “Rule of Four” is? All it takes is for four justices to approve cert for cert to be granted. So, unless you think that one of Alito, Roberts, Scalia, or Thomas are not pro-life, you only have the ‘conservative’ justices to blame for this case not being granted. The political capital of the Court is quite limited, and the clerks of each justice in rotation deciding which cases to recommend for cert know this. Even with 9 ‘conservative’ justices I would guess that this case would be denied.

Well said Frank. Let me ask this instead. Many here have questioned whether tax money should be used to shuttle women inmates seeking an abortion to an abortion clinic. Are you perfectly fine, then, with the mother being able to deliver in prison at taxpayer expense, to be able to keep the baby as any good mother would in prison with her, would you allow her to be able to have state paid day care in the prison?

Each would be wonderful and human of us, but I am betting that many here wouldn’t favor these taxpayer expenses, some might argue that the child should be taken away from them and made a ward of the state, forced adoption? How about taking the child from her and given to a family member who can care for the infant. That would be nice too, but wouldnt that all cost some money too?

I ask these questions honestly and wonder if they are not also expensive taxpayer items. Each however are likely necessary in one way or the other and would be a possible solution other than abortion.

All that said, I favor the right to choose and would not prevent the woman from making that decision anyway…

BUT if we reconsidered our prisons, how they are run, and effectively allow some women to keep their baby while incarcerated or find a way for society to help provide for it in the interim, we might need less abortions.

Am I making any sense? Do you see my point?

Does anyone have the opinion of she should just tough it out, give birth in prison, and then have the child removed?

If so, I question strongly the any motivation you have for protecting the innocent, helping the unborn or born, and wonder so much what will happen to that innocent little person that is not only born into poverty but born into jail and a life of fosterhood (which by the way 75% of foster children end up committing crimes, fewer graduate from high school).

Its a tough problem, but I hope so much that some of you might consider, apart from the woman’s right to choose, which is the law of the land folks, what happens next and if we should change our draconian policies that dont just punish offenders but all the people around them.

Wrong, first of all, pregnancy and anything related to it including abortion is NOT elective. Comparing it to a facelift is absurd. A woman has the right to make any MEDICAL decisions about her body and that includes the right to carry a pregnancy to term. It’s nobody’s business but her own. This is a fundamnetal right and exists regardless of your circumstances, ie. in prison etc.. If you don’t agree, tough, butt out. As far as tax dollars, women getting abortions pay taxes too and they have the right to use their tax dollars to pay for it. The american people and especially american women won’t tolerate you.Why don’t you anti-abortion nazi’s just piss off.
