APG, no scathing article on Mr. Pearce’s involvement? Or are we selectively ignoring that information?
Seconded
Grant Woods led an investigation. That is the point. He had something to do with a “cover up”. Can’t compare to getting free tickets.
You sure won’t see this story break on the beloved website of John McCain, Jan Brewer and Grant Woods — Politico Mafioso!
AQnd it’s going to bring down Russell Pearce. A two for one bonus.
Uh, not sure why this would “bring down” Pearce. He was one of a long list of legislators who received trips from the Fiesta Bowl committee that were properly disclosed. Nothing illegal there. Does your raging hatred for Pearce cause you to regard everything he does as something to blast him for?
Let’s not forget Linda Lopez, who received a nice trip to Boston. The Linda Lopez whom immediately after the Tucson shootings, stated on National TV/Radio that the shooter was a Veteran, tea party type. She’s NEVER apologized for her statements.
I too find it odd that this post only targets Mr. Woods.
Ellie —
We do have to wait until this all shakes out but an initial investigative report states that “tickets given as “gifts” to State Senator Russell Pearce, including more than $4,000 in tickets to the USC vs. Ohio State game in 2008.
According to one report, “Pearce’s Financial Disclosure form in 2008, he claimed a gift of more than $500 for the Insight Bowl for him and his wife. But, there was no mention of the USC vs. Ohio State game.”
You have to admit that it certainly does not look good when Mr. Law and Order — and “We’re a Nation of Laws,” and — “What part of illegal don’t they understand?” — may have broken the law. We will tolerate a lot from our elected officials, but if this is true — the hypocrisy would be stunning. Don’t you think?
Wait, the guy who’s advocating for a sweetheart deal for a pro sports team (The Coyotes) is smack-dab in the middle of a scandal about a quasi-amatuer sports event?
That’s hilarious.
Of course, to be fair to Mr. Woods, being at ground zero for all the under-the-table deals for the Fiesta Bowl does give him a, um, UNIQUE perspective on how to wheel and deal out of the public’s eye.
This is so disappointing, I can’t even comment.
I beg to differ “Duces Tecum”! Stay tuned (around Noon)
I demand more super awkward pictures of a certain someone clubbing in Old Town!
Go easy on Mr Woods he did his best.
Russell Pearce did his best too, he was just trying to influence his son to go to a good school and change his ways. You cant blame a father for trying. It is really hard to raise an upstanding tax-paying adult that takes responsibility for his life and doesnt become a burden to the tax payers or the social services systems. I think the games were a way to show his kids that they could go to college and make something of themselves. It is a shame that one of his sons has gone wayward and may end up costing the criminal justice system a great deal of money. And his family will suffer. Just a shame, but you cant blame a father for trying, it could happen to any of us.
Fred,
Are you being sarcastic? To give you the benefit of the doubt, I’ll withhold comments.
