“This Administration, now to trying to play the blame game, is actually a little outrageous.”

Washington, D.C. – Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ), a member of the House Financial Services Committee, discussed Treasury Secretary Geithner’s latest accusations on the debt ceiling, and what needs to be done to reach a deal on Reuters. Below is the video and excerpts from the interview:

Congressman David Schweikert

REP. SCHWEIKERT: GEITHNER ‘STUNNINGLY PARTISAN’ AND ‘NOT HONEST ABOUT THE NUMBERS’

He’s right on one point, time is running out. But I have to express my frustration. If you’ve ever sat through one of the Secretary’s speeches or have been in some of the private meetings as I’ve had with him, he’s been actually very honest about the scale of the problem and how the markets will crush us if we don’t demonstrate we’re bending the debt curve. But then they come out with something that in many ways almost sounds petulant and is actually stunningly partisan. This really disappoints me because I thought he would be one of the point men out of the Administration who would actually keep this discussion somewhat honest about the numbers.

REP. SCHWEIKERT ON DEBT TALK COMPROMISE

Look, the Left has to understand that those of us Republicans believe that just to go out and raise taxes will crush economic growth. Though, both Right and Left around here seem willing to have an honest discussion about rebuilding our tax code. But this is something we should have done months ago. We stepped up as the Republican Majority in the House months and months ago, and did a budget. That would have been the time to embrace that and then do the discussion on rebuilding our tax code to create jobs. Now, to trying to play the blame game from this Administration is actually a little outrageous.

REP. SCHWEIKERT ON SEN. MCCONNELL PLAN

I appreciate his attempt to try to be creative. But you know people like me, we were elected to come here and do hard things but do the things that save this Republic. And postponing it or finding another gamesmanship way to move it off the books and push it to someone else’s responsibility, I believe is somewhat wrong-headed. Look, this is tough. There’s a lot of folks here who’ve been elected year after year, I believe, not telling the truth about the devastating amount of debt that has been piling up on us and now, to have to look into a camera like this and explain to the American people that we got to change it, we got to change this crazy spending.

  1. He’s very very civil. How is it possible to negotiate in good faith about finances, budgets and taxes with a known, admitted tax cheat such as Geithner?

  2. Wanumba,

Its quite easy… Geitner isn’t there… Not in the room at all. So you’re not negotiating with him….

    • Of course not; how is it possible to negotiate in good faith with the people who KNEW Geithner is a tax cheat, selected him, appointed him and confirmed him ANYWAY to Treasury Secretary over the objections of many many people?

      • you know that 9 different republican senators all voted to confirm Geitner right? Including Cornyn, Corker and Ensign

        • So somehow 9 votes are worse than the all the Democrat votes and the fact that Obama should not have picked him in the first place?
How does that absolve the larger mass of Democrats and Geithner of their fail of personal ethics and public duty? Why are we supposed to dismiss everything the Democrats do? Is that sensible? Or safe?

On what VALID moral, ethical and leadership can Democrats concoct crony-favoring legislation, nominate publically admitted law-breakers and protect those choices by voting en mass, then to be permitted to take cover behind ONE Republican? Doesn’t this logic mean that one Republican is worth 200 Democrats?

How come we have uber pious Democrat school administrators evicerating students caught plagerizing some boring 5 page homework assignment that gest tossed in the trash as soon as it’s graded, the blot cemented into their files to hound them for their entire academic lives, ruining their chances for colleges and jobs, and the very same teachers said NOTHING and then VOTED OKAY, campaigned even for him, when Obama picked KNOWN Plagerizer Joe Biden for VP? It wasn’t any little assignment on “How eating Pringles before bedtime affects sleep metabolism,” but bald faced lies Biden passed off in front of audiences as he ran for president. The unforgiving Democrats are suddenly all forgive 47 times over, so they display their double standard regularly.

Lying is an interesting deadly sin. It is always a second sin, covering another deadly sin like coveting anything of one’s neighbor. Once someone wants what one’s neighbor has, that person will come up with a thousand excuses and justification to take it, by thieving, murder, or government confiscation.

Obama’s got Bill Terrorist Ayers claiming HE wrote Obama’s AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL Dreams of My Father, which would make it then a “biographical” and now we are reading today that Obama didn’t tell the truth about his mother gettiing stiffed by the insurance companies. Seriously, how come Obama didn’t just put out “biography” instead of “autobiography?” Would anyone have cared, and it would have been true? Why did Obama tell everyone his mother didn’t get her health insurance payments when she did?

So, how does ANYONE negotiate in good faith with a pack of liars? It’s not opinion, they’ve admitted their lies, they’ve been CAUGHT in their lies. Their lies cover their coveting of other people’s property: “redistribution” and “spreading the wealth.”

          • Again… I come back to the original point… you said how do you negotiate with Geitner… he is NOT PART of the negotiation. He is NOT in the room.

So you’re rant is all for nothing as always.

Oh how I missed your pointless rants wanumba.

Also I never said the 9 GOP senators excuse what Geitner does but you realize he passed 60-34…. the gop could have filliibustered him. Multiple Dems voted NO and others were NVs. So its their fault he is treasury secretary…

    • What I find so interesting is you could never find this anwyehre else.

  3. “But you know people like me, we were elected to come here and do hard things but do the things that save this Republic.”

Oh, thank Allah and Black Jesus that he sent David Schwiekert to save the Republic!!!

Sounds like someone’s believing his own press. His transformation into J.D. Hayworth is continuing apace.

  4. Independent Thinker says

    Re: The McConnell Plan
Rep. Schweikert needs to understand that taking the high road, the fiscally responsible road, which is the only way to actually solve the debt problem, is not going to work. The Republicans control only the House, and the Democrats are not interested in good governance: they are interested in only the game of politics, which they are far better at than Republicans. Because the Democrats have control of the Senate and the Presidency, the only way out is to beat them at their own game (and, yes, I realize the country may fiscally implode before the Republicans gain control of the Senate and Presidency). Being right is not a winning strategy when dealing with partisan, dishonest people. At least McConnell is trying to make them take ownership of the consequences of their actions. The president is working hard to do things his way and have Republicans take the blame for the consequences. If he is successful, this is a winning strategy in 2012.

    • Unfortunately, that “tack” has always worked for the Democrats before.

A major reason is that the great majority of Americans have no sense of history and
have a problem with long term thinking upon which true solutions rest.

Instead we’re formed by a public educational system which instills a psyche of instant gratification
and short term problem-soliving, Of course the liberal Dems have a stranglehold on
our learning institutes and they in turn crank out voters and an “intelligentsia” which
form an avid audience for liberal policies which are little more than bureaucratic expanding schemes.

So you’re rant is all for nothing as always.
    ………………………………

Hmm. How honest are you being when you pretend Geithner has nothing to do with all this, including his key role in how it’s going to be implemented?

“If you’ve ever sat through one of the Secretary’s speeches or have been in some of the private meetings as I’ve had with him, he’s been actually very honest about the scale of the problem and how the markets will crush us if we don’t demonstrate we’re bending the debt curve. Geitner is in the room. He’s definitely on the second row, behind the people who are really ramming this, but he’s 100% part of it, approves of it, provides input as to how it will be executed, and will be one of those key figures who will implement it at the highest levels. Geithner is part of a team that is hell-bent on taking as much of your money away from you to give it to other people who didn’t earn it. All Democrats. “Spreading the wealth” means TAKING it from its rightful owners. Every government on the planet which has done this has gone down in the history books as “cleptocracies.” It is why there’s a category of failed, ruined nations called, “The Third World.”
But it’s the “Republicans” fault. No it isn’t. It’s the DEMOCRATS’ FAULT.

Isn’t it weird that it’s being reported that Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham used to work for Geithner’s father? Small world! Yeah, that mother, the one Obama lied about not getting her insurance coverages. He made up a sob story for sympathy points.

It is not possible to negotiate in good faith with a pack of liars. Or conduct any sort of credible or civil open debate with people who will lie, twist and obscure to avoid the truth.

    • wow great response Wanumba…

No it isn’t. It’s the DEMOCRATS’ FAULT.

Thats just such a full substantive answer. Good job not addressing my points that the GOP could have EASILY filibustered Geitner, multiple dems voted NO on his nomination.

Ohh and as always you feel the need to go into another rant and make more accusations about Obama and his childhood. Feel free to provide links anytime now to verify your points. Normally I would take somones word for it but with your track record of the Obama Kenya stuff and when I asked for substantive links you had NOTHING to give me

      • Let’s see. I provided extra links in addition to me as a primary source, but my on the scene report was dismissed as not good enough for the Democrat couch potatoes, and any links were summarily dismissed as being from “right-winger thungys” and there’s now even more video and photos and contemporary reporting now available, so in sum, telling the truth is just plain inconvenient.

For a bunch of people who wax poetic about “multicultural” nuance” and “tolerance,” how many are totally unable to accept ANYTHING outside the narrative!

I gave you the truth. The situation is you don’t like it and you don’t want other people to hear it. The narrative you must protect is too fragile to be subjected to a close inspection and normal testing for veracity.

How come you aren’t complaining that it’s very nasty politics for a POTUS to tell the American People he will willfully intervene to stop their retiree benefit checks from going out to make people HURT so he can get his way? He’s eating frikkin’ lobster, $100/lb imported steaks and $390 a bottle wine, with concerts paid off taxpayer dime and he’s really that MEAN as to put his personal hand on the spigot and turn it off to HURT and FRIGHTEN MILLIONS of old PEOPLE?

Obama didn’t blink when the man he campaigned for,Odinga, unleashed killing mobs in Kenya, using mob violence to terrorize the government and the people into changing the result of an election. . That’s Obama without the media running puff pieces to make him look good. And that was OUR money Obama used to support a despot.

My account is holding up as reliable over the years, not yours.

        • oooh see I just make one little statement and he flips into a rant, its so typical wanumba. I just love it.

Also thanks for providing those links on Obamas mom and Geitner… Oh wait they arent here….

Also all your links showed was he was in Kenya there was no information as to anything else, it was all conjecture on your part. So please I’d love to see them if they are so readily available and easy to find….

  6. Barack Obama: “80% of Americans want higher taxes.”

The Obama Adminstration is recognizing the Libyan rebels as the legitimate government of the Libyan peeple, thus providing the cover for the Obama administration to send US taxpayer MONEY to said same rebels, without even clearly identifying them to the American public, who they are and their goals. This is actually rather important since the Mafia-like, radical, murderous Muslim Brotherhood, the parent of Al-Qaeda, is the most organized political movement in Libya and Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood uses democracy, plus an elaborate shake-down protection racketeering to raise funds expressly to put itself into power, then dismantles democratic structures to stay in power. On the other hand, Obama’s spiritual mentor of twenty years, Jeremiah Wright and his old spiritual leader, Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan used to make regular trips to hang with Ghaddafi and are not happy with any plan to dislodge Ghaddafi. Obama the Godfather is saying if he doesn’t get his budget way, maybe a few seniors won’t get their social security checks in August. Say what? Mr. Nobel Peace Prize is sending the money to rebels to buy arms for fighting in Libya!

Meanwhile the Democrats are insisting we spend too much money on OUR military which actually fights for US. Money for questionable rebels, okay! Texas had to burn over a million acres for months before Obama released FEMA, but Somalia is getting US humanitarian aid right away.
