Buz, Dean and John better be careful. She’s gonna ride this thing all the way to re-election.

  2. Jane 001 says

Apart from taking credit for legislation she had no part in conceiving, apart from fabricating talking points about opponent Dean Martin, apart from her open borders campaign co-chair, I’d say Brewer is running a stellar campaign.

BTW, is it true Grant Woods is planning a run for mayor of Phoenix?

  3. Jane 001 says

Beyond taking full credit for SB1070, another troubling aspect about Brewer, is her alliance with the education “cartel.” I have not seen a Jane Brewer campaign sign that was not physically bound to another sign from one of the education syndicates in the state.

She did a good job as SOS, but she’s gotten in bed with all the wrong people. What kind of judgment throws away a decent conservative record to submit to all the same people that put liberal Democrat Napolitano in office. It’s a reasonable assumption that we’ll have a full year of paybacks like we did with Obama. Brewer could take this State forward by leaps and bounds, but based on her associations and her tax-till-you-drop mentality, she’s poised to turn colors once in office. I’m not willing to risk the damage she can do.

    Jane,

I won’t be voting for her in the Primary either. I’m merely suggesting that given her take no prisoners attitude on the Immigration debate she attracts a heck of a lot of folks that simply want to stick it to the feds. Not saying its right or wrong. Just trying to judge how winning the issue is for her.

  6. Well if she makes it back in, we’ll see how “temporary” the 18% sales tax hike is!

Given her current ties, I wouldn’t hold my breath!

  7. Better add “geography”:

Janet Napolitano calls the Gulf of Mexico, “this ocean” … more than once…

  8. The Mole says

The Brewer campaign was dead until she tripped over the SB1070 issue. I was looking forward to governor Coughlin’s departure, but the death of the Brewer campaign was premature. With Martin fading away and no other realistic challenger in the primary, it looks like Goddard is back in the race. Someone please light a fire under Martin’s butt!

I will be boycotting the tax by not getting the new car my wife wanted next year and ordering all big ticket items over the Internet. And before someone says “you are still required to pay AZ tax,” I say yeah right, that’s going to happen!

    Boycott the Brewer Tax!!!

  9. @The Mole,

What should Martin be doing? It seems like everywhere he is asking for $5 forms… first things first I guess…

  10. The Mole says

Sambo – I hope you’re right. The breaks seem to be going governor Coughlin’s way. Notice Brewer waited to see how SB1070 polled before doing anything. Now she is shouting her support from the roof tops. I little disingenuous don’t you think.

We need someone for Arizona, not themselves. Dean is that person.

  11. Delusional Bill,

Believe me, I understand the sentiment entirely. Brewer has conservatives all over the country singing her praise. Some want her for Pres 2012…arrrgh! This is a good reminder not to jump on bandwagons until you know who’s driving.

I want Martin to win, and I don’t mean any harm, but he’s really got to want to be elected Governor. Whatever he might be doing right now is getting drowned out by the Brewer histrionics. I don’t know the answer, but Brewer’s in if Martin doesn’t pull a Scott Brown sometime this year!

  12. Antifederalist says

Martin has said he would have signed SB 1070 on day one rather than dragging it out like Brewer did. Also, let’s be realistic, if Brewer had NOT signed SB 1070, she’d be dead last behind Jette right about now. She HAD to sign the bill to remain viable in the race. Therefore, I think her signature is less than sincere. Others have already stated this, she deserves NO credit, but we have idiots at least as far away as Washington singing her praises because that’s all the media has told them and they’ve missed the interviews with Pearce, Antenori, Pierce, etc. on the national news.

I too am a Martin supporter. I’ve been VOCAL about that on this blog. Have been since his first run at the Senate. He’ll be getting my vote. As others have noted, Brewer has become a RINO and I wouldn’t be caught dead voting for the likes of her, especially after she was a Prop. 100 proponent and increased MY taxes.

I’ve discussed several issues with Mr. Martin and find his responses articulate and to the point. Given the right opportunity he would be leading the race. However, Jan got very lucky. Timing in politics is EVERYTHING. Life isn’t fair. But for the time being she and her political advisers are gonna ride this thing as far as they can. If Dean sticks to a message of clear ideas about taxes and spending he might get lucky as well. But for now the odds aren’t in his favor.

    ……….

Think that sums up the circumstances pretty well. ANy effective strategy has to deal with the reality of this, not fuss and complain about it.
