Conservative Challenger JD Hayworth Gains Valuable Endorsement From National Border Patrol Council

PHOENIX, Ariz. March 4, 2010. JD Hayworth has gained a valuable endorsement from a group of nearly 3,000 U.S. Border Patrol agents as he campaigns against 24-year incumbent Senator John McCain.

“We need strong leadership in the Senate, and we believe [J.D. Hayworth] is the right person for the job,“ Edward Tuffy II, President of the local council said in a statement. “[Hayworth’s] unwavering support for Border Patrol agents on the front line is appreciated. As Border Patrol agents, we are only effective if the rule-makers allow us to do our jobs.”

“I am very humbled by the endorsement from the Local 2544 Border Patrol Council,” said conservative candidate J.D. Hayworth. “These men and women are out there day in, day out not only facing one of America’s toughest issues in the face but also defending our country on the front line. The American spirit that these people hold is what I thrive to represent while in office.”

Vulnerable to the more conservative Hayworth on taxes, pro-life issues and illegal immigration, McCain has resorted to attacking Hayworth on spending, despite Hayworth having a better lifetime rating from Citizens Against Government Waste, among other organizations.

McCain also voted for the $850 billion bailout of the big banks which included $150 billion in earmarks, proposed a $300 billion bailout for mortgage lenders and, according to the Heritage Foundation, sponsored an amnesty bill that would have cost taxpayers $2.6 trillion over the long-term.

Hayworth has a lifetime rating of 98 from the American Conservative Union. He has also been endorsed by Gun Owners of America, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, conservative 2006 GOP gubernatorial nominee Len Munsil and many others.

Comments

  1. JD is endorsed by a federal employee’s labor union. That’s not the kind of conservative I want.

  2. Pragmatic Conservative says

A Union endorsement…Obama would be proud of JD. Two things have hurt Republicans in the past- corruption and spending. JD has been linked to both. He voted for the Business unfriendly “Sarbanes-Qxley Act, The infamous 2005 , pork laden, Highway Bill that included the “Bridge to Nowhere” and the Medicare Drug Benefit that created more than 7 Trillion, that’s Trillion folks, in unfunded liability. If you like JD for his personality that’s fine but to call him a conservative means you either Parrot what others say or you haven’t looked closely at his record.

  3. Now here’s an endorsement McCain couldn’t reach with a 51 foot ladder!

  4. say aloud, JD’s list: Gun Owners of America, Phoenix Law Enforcement, & Sheriff Joe Arpaio. I’m hoping for the not-so-morally-corrupt McCain!

  5. Wow, well JD has, what? 6 endorsements now and McCain has 529-ish… I think I can call who will win this one, and it won’t be that joke of a candidate, JD!

  6. Stephen Kohut says

And McRINO has paid for every one of those “endorsements” with “you scratch mine and I’ll scratch yours” while putting it to the people of Arizona. 529 endorsements and a couple of bucks will get John on the light rail to head off into the sunset.

  7. The only scratch I care about is the scratch he is putting in Obama’s eye. Obama cannot stand the fact that McCain stands up against him and his extreme left socialistic group of wing nuts in Washington. McCain is and will continue doing the job we need him to do and that job is making sure this president does not turn this Nation into Obamanatiion!! McCain is doing a great job

  8. Melissa:

    Wow!

    Are you a naif!

    This is an election year!

Of course McCain will stand up to Obama!

And if he wins next year he will stand WITH Obama!

If he loses, he’ll be working UNDER Obama!

    Wake up Lady!

  9. Stephen Kohut says

I didn’t know McRINO was on the downlow but I’m not surprised either.

  10. Kohut: Yeah! And I also get a kick out of McCainiacs howling that J.D. got union endorsement when most of them shill for groups like the A.E.A!

While we’re on the subject, I’d like to point out that PLEA represents PPD officers and sgts.,
you know the guys on the beat who actually have to enforce the laws, while the F.O.P. is dominated by administrators who have to knuckle under to mayors and city council members who answer to an Arizona Chamber of Commerce and League of Cities and Towns which have a vested interest in NOT enforing certain laws!

The Border Patron Council on the other hand represents officers whose primary duty IS to protect our borders, so naturally they’re no fans of McCain or McCainiacs!

  11. What has McCain ever done to support the Border Patrol…??? NOTHING. McCain REFUSEED to speak out for Ramos and Compean. Some of us will never forget or forgive that.
