  1. What a shock! After Kyl and company supported Lisa James 2 years ago, sabotaged (not just didn’t support, but actively sabotaged) state GOP fund raising efforts while Randy Pullen has been chairman, and tried to get another illegal alien amnesty bill passed (which Randy Pullen successfully opposed), should this be a surprise?

In 2006, we saw how the State Party became merely an adjunct of the Kyl campaign with no regard for other Republican candidates. We lost seats in the legislature (losing a conservative working majority which led to the Arizona fiscal crisis we have today) as well as 2 congressional seats. At least Kyl, who was not, as it turned out, in serious danger of defeat, won by a decent margin.

Apparently, Kyl thinks that’s a great model to follow for 2010 when there is another US Senate race. Of course, with a Republican governor, there will also be some support in the party organization for the incumbent governor. Other than that, Lisa James will give us a repeat of Matt Salmon’s performance which was generally a disaster for Arizona Republicans.

  2. This is all ego for Jon Kyl. He’s still sore at Randy for the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill. It’s too bad that politicians like Jon Kyl refuse to put the good of the party above their own personal egos. Oh well, it was to be expected. What can we expect from a lame duck U.S. Senator that has said he isn’t going to seek another term. He doesn’t have anything to lose on this one.

  3. Don’t vote for Jim Pederson–he will vote for amnesty!

  4. Another reason to vote for Randy!

  5. Kyl supports Lisa James.
    McCain supports Lisa James.
    Flake supports Lisa James.
    Sproul supports Lisa James.

I like to call it, the top four reasons to vote for Randy Pullen!

  6. Conservative Majority says

And they all throw Conservative Republicans down-ticket under the bus to look moderate in the general election. All of them and J.D. Hayworth dumped on Russell Pearce and Colette Rosati in the 2006 election for their own good. Randy Pullen was faithful to all Republicans and we supported him for Chairman.

  7. Conservative PC says

Congratulations Lisa! I have the utmost respect for Senator Jon Kyl. The fact that he is endorseing you is a huge honor, and it means that you truly will be the best for our Republican Party.

  8. Veritas Vincit says

And the offices of GCJPR issued the media release for Jon Kyl.

Any questions who wants to control the state party?

Nationally the party of McCain and Kyl was defeated (with the help of GWB). Do we want to continue more of the same??

  9. Veritas Vincit says

We as a party are at a turning point. A “make-over” as Lisa puts it, won’t win elections. The day of “election selling” has ended – Consumerism has reached into politics.

The old ‘white’ elephants of McCain and Kyl are finished. Its time to re-engineer the product of Republicanism from the inside out, and then communicate to the voter why we are the preferred brand to buy.

  10. Since the 2006 election, Kyl has really changed.

First, he tried to ram the comprehensive amnesty bill through.

Second, he voted for the bailout of the wastrels in the financial industry.

Now, he’s trying to get Lisa James installed as state chair!

Kyl’s lost my respect, and unless he returns to his previous excellent record, will lose my vote, and that of others.

BTW, his support for James is really stupid as P
