John Huppenthal Statement on Ruling that TUSD’s Mexican American Studies Program Violates Arizona Law

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 27, 2011

Statement of Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal on Administrative Law Judge’s Decision that the Tucson Unified School District’s Mexican American Studies Program is in Violation of A.R.S. § 15-112

Phoenix, AZ, December 27, 2011– Today, Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal released the following statement on the decision of Administrative Law Judge Lewis Kowal that affirmed the Tucson Unified School District’s (TUSD’s) Mexican American Studies Program was in violation of A.R.S. § 15-112 as per his ruling from June 15, 2011:

“I was very pleased to receive Judge Kowal’s decision today affirming the ruling that I made on June 15 that TUSD’s Mexican American Studies Program was in violation of A.R.S. § 15-112.

In my role as State Superintendent of Public Instruction I have a legal responsibility to uphold the law and a professional imperative to ensure that every student has access to an excellent education.

Upon taking office on January 3, 2011, I was faced with the immediate circumstance of the Tucson Unified School District being found in violation of A.R.S. §15-112 by the outgoing Superintendent. Instead of making a snap decision on the matter, the Arizona Department of Education, at my direction, conducted an intensive investigation, spanning many months, of TUSD’s Mexican American Studies Department (MASD) and its program.

In the end, I made a decision based on the totality of the information and facts gathered during my investigation – a decision that I felt was best for all students in the Tucson Unified School District. The Judge’s decision confirms that it was the right decision.

I will be issuing my final ruling regarding the matter in the near future after a thorough and deliberate review of the Judge’s decision.”

  1. A smashing blow for the reconquistas occupying the Old Pueblo. This weakens Mexico’s control over southern Arizona and could be a turning point to reclaim the territory for the United States. It has taken nearly ten years to end this anti-American brain washing since it was exposed by author Linda Bentley in 2003. You can be the farm Isabel Garcia and Salvador Reza are now guzzling Kaopectate bottle after bottle. Woo-hoo!

  2. Sgt. Flapjaw says

That’s it? No heads roll? No sanctions? Probations? No fines? The same propagandists will remain in the classrooms? Administrators keep their jobs? Good work by all concerned, but what will these subversives try next? Surely something, and will it take 10 years to correct the next time?

    • The TUSD is looking at a 10% reduction in state funding as dictated by state law and hitting them where they live. It’s a start.

      • Sgt. Flapjaw says

The teachers and administrators need to be decertified. Also fired of course. Appoint overseers to supervise the entire school district operations including budgets. Someone needs to put their “Foot on the neck” of the whole institution.

        • Sarge, I agree with you 100%. I believe the wisdom behind the state statute was to impose the funding penalty, and the rest would take care of itself. Your suspicions are quite valid, that their is no guarantee that these indoctrinations will continue under stealth techniques. During the “audit” of these classes, instructors were observed steering clear of the actual study material and sanitizing classroom lectures under the watchful eyes and ears of monitors. I saw a great deal of the actual study material online on a site called “cholla jumps”, and it would have dropped the jaw of anyone reading it. Although I saved the link to that site, the material suddenly “disappeared” about three or four months ago; I wish now that I would have copied and saved those pages to my computer.

Regarding the length of time that has transpired to “stop” this indoctrination, you have to realize that the original expose by Linda Bentley – a masterpiece – came out in 2003. Back then, the report was blown off as “folklore” or racism. While cudos to our legislature for finally delving into this atrocity and acting on it is in order, it is quite clear that Senator Pearce led the charge to take action against this absurd expenditure of our tax dollars and expose the goings on in the illegal-friendly communities of Arizona’s southland. Although the pro-illegal forces and leftwing vermin have successfully removed Pearce, his work remains effective and will for years to come.

  3. Heads need to roll. It’s not just about the money (that’s the hammer); the guilty subversives need to be held accountable. If they are so adamant about their ideology, let them start their own organization to further their anti-American propoganda. Oh, wait a minute, we already have the Arizona Democratic Party. Never mind.

  4. It’s a tiny start. The big gorilla in the room is the Left-designed catastrophe of US and World History instruction, which is hardly better than this revisionist junk that was making laughing stocks of all our students world-wide.

  5. wanumba, get a clue. I don’t know what textbooks you were taught from, but I had a pretty good public high school education (at Moon Valley H.S.). Granted, today’s textbooks are heavy on lefty crap and dismiss solid information about our Founders, but what those clowns in Tucson are doing is not education–it’s indoctrination, and they are fomenting revolution. LaRaza is a racist organization that the Democrats have embraced. It will come back to bite them in the butt.

    • I agree with you totally on the over-the-top racism-based-propaganda … my point was that the normal indoctrination is just not as obvious as the Tucson junk, but it’s more pervasive and as formenting of ill-will and historical ignorance, the house cleaning is FAR from being done… people shouldn’t be complacent.

I am not exaggerating that in any measure. I have a lot of kids in a lot of grades and I have looked at both their textbooks and the photo-copied handouts … and the schools are playing dishonest little games with students and their parents. The teachers hardly open the textbook, and base the exams off their propaganda photocopy handouts, so if you judge by the book, you’ll be deceived. I’ve had three kids take American History in three different schools systems and all their American hIstory starts around 1840 … runs thru the Civil War, lingers on 1900 immigration and dawdles forever on FDR’s New Deal and unions… Civil Rights and Martin Luther King, who students think was a Democrat, not a Republican .. so “accurate” is the info they are being fed. It’s heavily blatently Left- been so for YEARS. WHat kind of valid history textbook devotes two lines to George Washington and half a page to totally forgettable Colorado Rep Patricia Schroeder (D).

US Left-biased history instruction and textbooks are making ignorant fools of our students. They look like idiots when put up against their international peers, and worse, they’ve been taught to hate everything that made this country great …. they don’t know what it was, but they’ve been taught to be ashamed of it. The education system is so permeated with institutional dishonesty, not even sure it’s salvageable.

  6. This is a major story and I tried to monitor local TV stations over the past 24 hours to see how it would be reported. The only mention I was able to view was a 10-second snippit on the KPNX noon news yesterday. The Phoenix broadcast stations appear to have buried the story; they absolutely do NOT want Arizonans to know what the hell has been going on in Tucson schools for the past ten years. They don’t want the public to know that their tax dollars have been used to indoctrinate young Mexicans into hatred of whites, advocate the overthrow of the U.S. government, and trumpet the reconquest of certain American states by Mexico.

The local broadcast media is absolute pro-illegal pro-Mexican filth and they have made that indisputable by their silence here. The loss of 10% of funding to one of the state’s largest school districts is big news and the reason behind it is even bigger. The entire process that played out to get to the judge’s ruling has also been buried by the media. The only report I saw during the process was when Mexican students disrupted proceedings at one of the school board meetings, and that is M.O. of local broadcasters: any Mexican anywhere raising hell over laws, proposed laws, passed laws, or enforcement of laws get their faces and voices plastered on every local news show, whether it be a group of twenty or two.

The media stayed away from this story like the plague because they don’t want Mr. and Mrs. Arizona Droolcup to truly understand and wake up to the fact that America is at war with a bordering country, who’s legal and illegal residents here are working 24/7 to take political control. The judge’s ruling on this issue exposes the underbelly of that movement and the media who are cheering it on want to keep it sanitized, and the public in a stupor over the reality. It is a solid bet that if the ruling had gone the other way, KPNX, KSAZ, KPHO, and KVXV would have been all over it as their lead story.

I spoke with a friend yesterday who is quite informed on most local news stories, and he had never even heard of the events taking place with the TUSD, the “La Raza” classes, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and was shocked when I told him what had been transpiring. While the offal news directors at these broadcast stations bury a story like this, they have no problem showcasing every spec of dirt, innuendo, or rumor about MCSO or Sheriff Arpaio, just as they did for months on end about Senate President Russell Pearce. The profiteering sponsors who keep these dregs on the air are clearly in charge of content and editorial policies of these bloodsuckers. The pro-illegal media is absolutely corrupt, mega-propaganda machines, and poisonous to it’s audience. A pox on all of them!
