Two Ways to Help Team Frederick

Greetings!

We are in the last stretch before Election Day! We need YOUR HELP to push us over the finish line! Here are the details of two opportunities that you can do to help!

1. Neighborhood Walk! Tomorrow, Saturday October 29th, we will meet at the Bagel Gourmet at 9:30 AM to go out into neighborhoods to talk with voters. The weather is expected to be fantastic, and this is a great opportunity to get a couple hours of exercise in while talking to voters and gaining their support.

2. Phone Calls! We have had many volunteers make phone calls on the campaign and the feedback we get is always the same: people are very receptive to hearing about a candidate! You can join us in these efforts in two different ways. The first way is the Phone Bank we’re doing Monday-Thursday from 5:30-8:00 pm at 3501 N 24th St. here in Phoenix. The second way is to make calls from home! Simply email us and we will send you a list and a script. These calls can be made from anywhere and will only take about 2 hours.

These opportunities will both take only 2 hours of your time and will help elect desperately needed New Leadership to Phoenix! Please help Eric out by volunteering for one of these opportunities!

Wes Is NOT Worthy

Anyone who thinks they will be casting a vote for a Republican if they vote for Wes Gullett for Phoenix Mayor is vastly mistaken.  Wes is a top supporter of liberal Democrats like Raul Grijalva, Harry Mitchell, Ed Pastor, Tom Daschle, and David Obey.  Wes gave Raul Grijalva $1,000 the same week Grijalva called for a boycott against Arizona over SB 1070, and Wes DID NOT EVEN DEMAND A REFUND!  (Check it out by going to the FEC website and typing Gullett in).

Well Wes, better late than never, if you are really a Republican why don’t you demand a refund of the money you gave to Raul Grijalva to help him keep his Congressional seat so he could continue his radical left-wing assault on Arizona and America??!!  All told, Wes has given nearly $20,000 to liberal Democrats in the last few years.

Wes is also a big contributor to the Arizona Democrat Party, shelling out $500 for them during Napolitano’s reign of error. (Search here). Oh, almost forgot—Wes has so many left-wing flaws that his support for Janet Napolitano almost gets lost in the shuffle.   Napolitano almost bankrupted our state, but there was Wes cheering her on.  Anyone who thinks this uberlobbyist insider will actually cut government needs to face the facts.

Gullett has also admitted working for the Service Employees International Union, which organized the 1070 boycott of Arizona.

Gullett has also fought to maintain taxpayer funded welfare benefits for illegal aliens, as well as to keep it nice and easy for them to vote illegally (probably for lefties like Wes.)  Fortunately the voters of Arizona passed Proposition 200 in 2004, despite Wes’ urging a NO vote on this.  Wes thought that illegal aliens should be able to collect welfare from you and me, and not be bothered with things like having to show a real I.D. (NOT a matricula consular) at the polling place.

Wes should not be rewarded for being a RINO—his voter registration is the ONLY thing Republican about Wes.  There’s a word for such a shameless play–dishonesty.

Those who are tempted to vote for him should also consider what his real ambition is, and that is the Senate seat that Senator McCain will leave in 2016.  The timing would be perfect for Wes if he could just get elected Mayor—he could spend four years boosting his profile and getting good press from his left-wing buddies at the Republic, then run.

Senator Gullett would make even the most hardcore JD Hayworth supporter pine for the conservative by comparison days of John McCain as our senator.  Gullett is a VERY close confidante of Senator McCain, having worked for him and managed his campaigns.

Let’s not kid yourselves, when we settle for RINOs we just encourage more of them.

NO Wes for US Senator, NO Wes for Mayor.  NO MORE RINO’s!

Mexican-American “Raza” Expert Panel Discussion Open to the Public: Event will be Streaming LIVE!

FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

A Panel Discussion: The Mexican-American “Raza” Controversial Ethnic Studies Program in the Tucson Unified School District

Phoenix, AZ – On Saturday, September 10, 2011, Arizona Mainstream Project (AMP) will bring to the public a panel discussion on the controversial Mexican-American or “Raza” ethnic studies program being taught in the Tucson United School District (TUSD). Speaking on this panel will be Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, Andy LaFevre (Public Relations Director for AZ State Superintendent John Huppenthal), Loretta Hunnicutt (founder TU4SD), John Ward (former ethnic studies teacher), Lisa Ruth (educator/activist), Rey Torres (President of Arizona Latino Republican Association), and Gabriela Saucedo Mercer (activist/CD 7 candidate). KFYI Talk Host Terry Gilberg will be moderating this panel discussion.

The panel will not only discuss events leading up to Superintendent John Huppenthal’s recent report that found TUSD in violation of A.R.S. 15-112, but will also discuss the real objectives of this controversial curriculum taught in the Tucson Unified School District; these include the overthrow of our government, ethnic resentment, and the redefining of “la familia.” The TUSD Mexican-American Ethnic Studies program is widely seen as a “militant” model to be spread throughout the country.

Each panel member will share their personal experience and direct involvement with uncovering the facts of this issue and how it has negatively impacted the Tucson community and how it affects all of America. You will gain an understanding of its history, the current legal battles, and needed citizen activism to stop this anti-American agenda.

This event will be held at the Phoenix Airport Marriott Hotel located at 1101 North 44th Street in Phoenix, Arizona, from 2 pm- 5 pm, MST.  Cost to attend is $15.00 per person. This panel discussion will be STREAMED LIVE from AMP’s website. Click on the “View Live Stream Now” button on our homepage www.ArizonaMainstreamProject.org and follow the instructions.

Go to www.ArizonaMainstreamProject.org for more information about this event and to purchase a ticket, or contact Honey Marques, Executive Director, at 808-283-3661 or email honey@arizonamainstreamproject.org.

Any press who plans to attend and cover this story, please contact Honey Marques to discuss arrangements and set up at 808-283-3661.

Arizona Mainstream Project is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable grassroots organization whose mission is to attract, educate, and mobilize the people of Arizona around America’s founding principles and leadership. AMP believes in the principles of a constitutionally limited government, free markets, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty to promote the common good and prosperity for the people of Arizona.

Scoring the consultants

Let’s say you’re an average Jane like myself and wanted to run for political office.

Where would you look for information? Who would you hire? One of the services that sites like Sonoran Alliance provide is insider information.

In the comments section, please leave your thoughts on Arizona’s political consultants. Who would you hire and why? Who delivers the impossible for their clients? Who loses races for their candidates that they should easily win?

You’ll never see it in the mainstream media, but it’s high time we started figuring it out.

Based on your comments and discussions with other grass roots activists, we’ll have a fuller post next week.

City of Phoenix Election Highlights, Lowlights & Predictions

Gullett’s Guts: A political consultant running for office takes a lot of bravery. Lose and it will forever be used against you. That Wes Gullett is even in the discussion about a November run-off is a victory for hm. Win or lose, he comes out a winner.

Quik Way To Lose Quik Mojo: Without any support from a single candidate running for Phoenix office this cycle, Proposition 2 has become a curious campaign with Quik Trip spending heavily to defend afronting a neighborhood in order to build their 27th station in the Valley. They primarily argue we are a good company, so vote for us. But as opponents pointed out in a recent mailer the U.S. Department of Justice fined them millions for discriminating against the disabled and the U.S. Department of Labor fined them nearly a million dollars for ripping off their employees. Calls to mind Homer Simpson’s most famous line.

I Used To Be Somebody: Once prolific Phoenix political consultant Gary Kaasa is no more. Claude Mattox’s inept campaign, fleeced by consultants Kaasa and Joe Yuhas, spells the end of Kaasa’s career and casts serious doubts on Yuhas’ ability to be taken seriously moving forward.

Beware Waring: He will come close to winning outright Tuesday night, but not quite. Over/Under is 15 on his margin over appointed councilperson Bryan Jeffries.

Not exactly Phoenix ’11 election related but here’s a prediction for ’14: Phoenix City Councilman Bill Gates will seriously consider if not run for Arizona Attorney General.

Hayden Police Chief Antcliff keeps job after Rios attempts to have him fired

A few weeks ago, we carried a post about Pinal County Supervisor, Pete Rios getting busted speeding. He tried to pull a “well officer don’t you know who I am?” but ended up getting a ticket anyway. That led to some politically incestuous dealings resulting in the police chief of the small rural town of Hayden having his job put on the line.

Earlier tonight, the mayor and council met to discuss the fate of Chief Monty Antcliff who was represented by local attorney, Chris DeRose.

Here is some media coverage by the ABC affiliate out of Tucson, KGUN-9, and a call-in by Sheriff Paul Babeu to the Mike Broomhead show this afternoon:

Mike Broomhead interview with Sheriff Paul Babeu.

Pete Rios is no stranger to threatening people who challenge him. As we noted in the earlier post, Rios threatened to punch fellow blogger Greg Patterson for exposing the scam he had going on his reimbursement for mileage to a property Rios owns but does not actually communte to. All I have to say is that it’s a good thing Sheriff Babeu didn’t pull him over that night!

As the first decade of the 21st century nears an end, the Middle East is a region with multiple conflicts that impact the world, and particularly the United States. With Iran crossing the nuclear threshold, civil wars raging in Iraq, Sudan, and Yemen, Christians embattled across the region, with Israel in existential peril and its survival being questioned, and radical Islam sweeping beyond the region, it is imperative, as Americans, that we have a knowledge and understanding of this region. Historian, author, and radio personality, Dr. Steven Carol can shed light on these issues and answer questions that arise. His books can be purchased at the seminar.

Arizona Congressional Republicans Call For Rapid Action To Assist Wallow Fire Recovery Efforts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 20, 2011

Ben Carnes (Franks)
Richard Cullen (Quayle)
Rachel Semmel (Schweikert)
Genevieve Frye Rozansky (Flake)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation today sent a letter to U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell urging him to request alternative arrangements for federal regulatory compliance in order to expedite clean up and recovery efforts in the aftermath of the Wallow Fire.

“Destruction from the Wallow Fire has exposed large areas in Eastern Arizona’s Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests to the risk of additional damage,” the members of the delegation said, explaining the reason for their letter. “Time is of the essence, especially with the arrival of the monsoon season, in acting to protect life and property, and to reduce the risks for further damage to the environment.”

“While the reviews prescribed in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) might be desirable in certain, less urgent circumstances, we believe the existing procedures are incompatible with the current exigencies faced in the aftermath of the Wallow Fire.”

Council on Environmental Quality regulations permit “alternative arrangements” for NEPA compliance in order to provide flexibility in emergency situations. The members of the delegation who sent the letter believe that the Wallow Fire situation conforms to the very circumstances contemplated for such alternate arrangements, and have urged Chief Tidwell to exercise this option.

The text of the letter to Chief Tidwell follows below and is also attached in PDF form:

=========================

July 20, 2011

The Honorable Tom Tidwell
Chief, U.S. Forest Service
Yates Building, 5th Floor
201 14th Street SW
Washington, D.C. 20250

Dear Chief Tidwell:

We write to urge you to request from the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) “alternative arrangements,” pursuant to Section 1506.11, for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (40 C.F.R §1500 et seq) to respond to the Wallow Fire.

As you are well aware, the Wallow Fire in Eastern Arizona has burned for more than 40 days, across more than 538,000 acres of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests and into neighboring New Mexico. The fire is now the largest in Arizona’s recorded history. The damage to the national forest is still being assessed, but it is known that that the fire has killed or severely damaged a large number of trees. The volume of dead and dying trees increases the fuel load for future high-intensity fires, and provides ideal conditions for insect and disease outbreaks. The exposed soil and the arrival of the monsoon rains present an immediate risk of flooding and debris flows that threaten lives, property, water quality, and valuable natural resources throughout the burned area. The State of Arizona has declared a state of emergency and county and local officials have declared the situation a disaster.

Given the post-fire conditions in the Wallow Fire area, swift action is needed by the Forest Service to protect human life and property and mitigate further damage to timber resources and the environment. There is not sufficient time to follow all of the procedures for environmental review under the NEPA of all the actions that will be needed to respond. The alternative arrangements regulation was put in place for circumstances such as this one. As you know, alternative arrangements do not waive the requirements to comply with the NEPA, but instead establish alternative arrangements for compliance in emergencies.

Having seen the devastation for yourself, we are hopeful you will agree that the circumstances of the Wallow Fire warrant the application of alternative arrangements. The communities affected by the Wallow Fire cannot afford needless delays.

Sincerely,

JON KYL

The Tail Wagging the Dog; Same-Sex Couples in Arizona

Population of Arizona?   6,392,017 souls or approximately 11 people per acre when spread out over the entire state.

Number of husband and wife households in Arizona?    The 2010 U.S. Census counted nearly 1.15 million husband and wife households in Arizona.   Number of same-sex households in Arizona?   The 2010 U.S. Census counted nearly 21,000 same-sex couples in Arizona.

So how does that work out?  About 1.83% of couples identified in Arizona by the U.S. Census Bureau are same-sex.  Think about that.  What does that figure suggest for the overall GLBT population of Arizona?  Even being generous and posting that figure at 3% still only yields less than a single legislative district (there are 30 of those).

So what prompted this article?  The fact that in spite of numbers so statistically small, the Associated Press, FoxNews Phoenix, ABC15, and the Arizona Daily Star actually expended time and space reporting this minor factoid.  And, I’ll bet this isn’t over.  By the end of the news-day today several more of Arizona’s MSM will have carried the same story.  And by the end of the week, they’ll be editorials, commentary (like this one) to fill a book!

Why?  How is a small stadium (about the size of Chase Field) of people among so many more millions a “news story”?  How about how many children have a father living in the same household or how many female veterans are homeless in our state?  Priorities.  What’s important.  That’s what the media reports.  If they are simply keeping score then the numbers aren’t encouraging and perhaps don’t warrant the amount of attention given to GLBT issues in the media.

Are they a viable component of Arizona’s population?  Absolutely.  Do they receive more than their share of attention and political clout disproportionate to their numbers?  Absolutely.  In our state today aren’t there more important issues to address such as the growing influence of Chinese investment in U.S. resources?

And of course, maybe we should be paying attention to that whole Debt-Ceiling issue now raging in Washington.  After all, $0.40 of each dollar spent by the federal government daily is borrowed.  How sustainable is that?

(picture courtesy of the website Global Cocktails)

 The point?

There are more important issues today than tracking same-sex couples, so why does the media expend the energy on this issue?  How much energy and capital is expended on the GLBT community in Arizona and why given what a small segment of the overall population they truly are.

Mayor Scott Smith joins White House call on national budget

For Immediate Release: July 11, 2011
Contact: Melissa Randazzo

Today, Mayor Scott Smith participated in a conference call with President Barack Obama and top White House economic officials to discuss ongoing budget negotiations. The call was arranged by U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and included a select group of mayors.

In his remarks the President stressed to the mayors the importance of increasing the debt ceiling and asked them to help him achieve a balanced approach that would include both spending cuts now and revenue adjustments starting in 2013. After the President spoke, the mayors were able to ask questions and give input. During this portion of the call, Mayor Smith emphasized the necessity of reaching an agreement that brings certainty and stability to the nation’s financial situation.

“I appreciate the President speaking directly to the mayors and laying out his thoughts on how this serious issue can be settled,” Mayor Scott Smith said. “We need to get this issue resolved soon. The uncertainty in Washington is stifling investment on Main Street. Mayors want to get on with the work of fixing the economy and creating jobs, and we are willing to help however we can.”

Mayor Smith was recently elected to USCM Second Vice President and will be the organization’s president in 2013.

We the People Can Do Better

A United States Representative sends lewd pictures of himself to six females, and then brazenly lies to the press and his peers about his actions. An Arizona State senator has a public brawl with his girl friend in the middle of a public road and tells police he cannot be arrested because he is a sitting senator. A Pinal County supervisor disrespects his constituents by describing his constituents’ questions and statements as “moronic.”

What is the common thread in the behavior of these politicians? Hubris: an unbridled arrogance, an excess of ambition and pride. Another common thread is a total detachment from the reality of the electorate who elected these people into office, only to discover these politicians are not representative of the electorate but are self-representative.

Are politicians arrogant before they are elected to office or do they become arrogant as a result of being elected into office?  How does political arrogance begin? Is political arrogance a façade covering up a lack of self confidence? Why are politicians more prone to lack of humility and lack of civility? These are the people who should be looking out for us. Instead, they seem to be looking out for themselves.

We see the same arrogance at the federal and state levels, only to a much worse degree. It is not ordinary political arrogance, it is more, as described in the opening paragraph. It is a general break-down of our ethics, where immoral acts are condoned as long as the act does not violate some statute, where politicians use their positions of power to indulge and cheat. It is a corrupt philosophy of “the ends justifies the means.”

Surely, we “the People” can do a better job of selecting our representatives.

NFIB to 11th Circuit: Individual Mandate Unconstitutional

Atlanta, June 8, 2011Karen Harned, executive director, National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Legal Center, and Mike Carvin, counsel to NFIB, issued the following statements after the oral arguments for the 11th Circuit:

“Today is a great day for small-business owners and for all Americans who believe in the individual right to determine the time and circumstances under which they will enter the health insurance marketplace,” said Karen Harned.

“NFIB and its co-plaintiffs challenged PPACA because it wrongly imposes a mandate to purchase insurance—Congress has no right to regulate inactivity by individuals who are not participating in commerce,” added Mike Carvin. “If Congress is allowed to regulate such inactivity simply because doing so will benefit other individuals who are voluntarily participating in commerce, then there will be no limits on the reach of federal power.”

Harned concluded: “We are confident that our side will ultimately prevail in this case; the arguments presented by our attorneys are grounded in the law. NFIB and its membership believe that the Court should strike down the health care law and that Congress should start over with health care reforms that will actually help small businesses, not walk all over them.”

NFIB is the nation’s leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C., and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB’s powerful network of grassroots activists send their views directly to state and federal lawmakers through our unique member-only ballot, thus playing a critical role in supporting America’s free enterprise system. NFIB’s mission is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses. More information is available online at www.NFIB.com/newsroom.

Summer in the City

Well the mercury is rising and so are the political ambitions.  Can you believe the number of candidates for Mayor?  Who would have thought that a job that pays so little and has so little power would attract so many?  Unless of course you live in a city that has a real unemployment rate of 22%.  Let’s see now.  Who’s in the mix?  There is Uncle Claude who has a war chest of a quarter of a million dollars.  I guess he can use that as a buffer…a sort of golden parachute…when he doesn’t win…It must be hard for the union guys to decide which one of their cronies to vote for.  So many choices, so few votes to cast.  Then there’s Auntie Peggy….you go girl, what a unique way to avoid an indictment…run for mayor.  Hey if you need any pointers you can always call on the new mayor of Chicago….Rham…you know the guy who got $320,000 just for running over to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac a few times….But he’s just so…you know……important.  And then there is Greg and Wes and Dave probably a few more before the week is through.  Only one real candidate though.  That’s Jennifer Wright.  Hard to win when the rules have been made for insiders.  Hey I have a great idea!  Why don’t the folks, you know, the people who complain all the time, vote for Jennifer and finally change things around….

AZTLAN – Go to Oz, turn left past Camelot and head south By Emil Franzi, Special to The Explorer Explorer News | 0 comments
The recent outbursts – the proponents’ behavior was too thuggish to call it a legitimate debate – over Ethnic Studies at TUSD concerned making the program elective. The program as taught should be completely scrapped for the fraud it is.
Society gets no benefit from teaching blatant falsehoods. Claims that lands ceded by Mexico to the United States after the War of 1846 were the home of an advanced Aztec culture called Aztlan that was eliminated by invading Europeans are simply absurd.
Native tribes living here had little contact with the Aztecs, a culture engaged in the same group psychosis and internal genocide as Pol Pot’s Cambodia. The Aztecs were conquered by a handful of Spaniards because many other tribes Aztecs oppressed and murdered joined the invaders. Life for the average Native American of this continent before Columbus was best illustrated in “Apocalypto.” Try Netflix for a real elective.
Until Mexican Independence in 1821, the area may have been colored Spanish on European maps but they were barely ruling anything. Scattered settlements and missions existed at the sufferance of the mostly nomadic warrior tribes who were really in charge and constantly fought with each other.
Mexican successors to the Spaniards also fought each other and neglected their northern provinces, often not even arming what few troops they posted. By the 1840s, the real rulers of “Aztlan” were folks like the Comanche, who sent giant raiding parties within 200 miles of Mexico City and brought parrots back to Texas. Apaches and other warrior tribes controlled the rest. Forget that peaceful farmers bilge. It insults great warrior cultures that were the real rulers of that mythical realm.
By the time President Polk led the American Empire against the one Santa Ana was establishing., there were few Mexicans remaining in northern Mexico. Those surviving lived in the accumulations of hovels that were Tucson and other small settlements, finally under the protection of a country that at least bothered to send an army.
While there was discrimination by some Europeans against Mexicans, the overwhelming majority of both hadn’t arrived yet. The hostility between native tribes and Mexicans was even greater than that between gringos and either of them. To teach otherwise is to blatantly distort the truth.
So is teaching that Euro-Americans oppress Mexican-Americans. Media covered one female student claiming she never knew she was oppressed until she was taught it in her Ethnic Studies class. Really?
The Alabama slave working the fields all day knew he was oppressed. So did the Jewish family hiding in an attic from the Nazis in occupied Holland, the Chinese woman raped by occupying Japanese troops, and the Cambodian school teacher hunted down to be part of a mass execution by Pol Pot’s lunatic regime. Closer to home, so did the young Aztec man having his heart cut out by a batch of insane priests from a vicious society of which so many are genuinely ignorant and wish to honor. Nobody had to tell any of them they were being oppressed.
If you don’t know you are being oppressed, you are probably aren’t. Here are some more hints.
If you can run off at the mouth about it and nobody busts you, you probably aren’t oppressed. If you can freely and publicly meet with others who share your perspectives and particularly if those who tell you of oppression are on the payroll of the very society they claim is doing the oppressing and are funded by taxes raised from the supposed oppressors, there’s a real good chance you aren’t oppressed.
If you abuse others and keep them from speaking, threaten folks and disturb public meetings that give you your own say, you just moved into being the oppressor yourself. That’s what you and the rest of those at TUSD really need to learn about.
