Congressman Matt Salmon Statement in Remembrance of September 11th Attacks

Washington—Today, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement in remembrance of the September 11th attacks in the United States of America and in Benghazi, Libya.

“Today, we take a moment to observe the anniversary of the horrific attack on the United States of America that shook the very soul of our nation. Twelve years ago, we were hit, but not defeated. As Americans always do, we stood back up with strong resolve to move forward. Let us remember the brevity of life, the presence of evil in this world, and the strength we see in America’s heroes. We are grateful for their countless acts of courageous service and sacrifice.

“On this day, we also remember the four American service members and diplomats struck down by terrorists one year ago in Benghazi, Libya. We must continue to pursue justice in their name.

“As our nation moves forward from these tragic events, we resolve to never forget and to never stop sacrificing for those values that matter most—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May God continue to comfort the families of the victims and heroes, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.”

Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. He is also a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Maricopa GOP Chair Rallies LD Censures

To all Arizona County and LD Republican Committee Chairmen -
Below is the front page article of the July 15 Arizona Capitol Times. I want to express my appreciation to those courageous and principled County and LD Republican Committees who have already conducted votes of “censure” and/or “no confidence.”
Jan Brewer, the legislators and their crony capitalist friends that support ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion have betrayed Americans, Arizona Republicans and the Republican Party Platform.  Their lack of ethics, integrity and egregious acts are motivated by only two things – greed and the lust for power – at the expense of hard working tax paying Americans.
The law was expected to cost $898 billion over the first decade when the bill was first passed, but this year the Congressional Budget Office revised that estimate to $1.85 trillion.  Money that will have to be borrowed from the Chinese or printed in the backroom of the Federal Reserve.  Latest polls indicate a majority of Americans are opposed to ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion with an overwhelming majority of Republicans in opposition.
During the past six months, we did everything we could to make a solid argument against ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion, we tried to reason with these people and even tried to make them see the light.  Unfortunately, our lobbying efforts fell on deaf ears and without success.
During one of Ronald Reagan’s difficult political battles he said,
”When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.”
I’m asking all the County and LD Republican Committees to make these people feel the heat by passing public censures for their actions.  They are elitists who think what they have done should be forgiven. They are mistaken.  We are not going to be able to defeat all of them, but we can defeat a majority of them in the 2014 Primary Election.
You can go to “MCRC Briefs” and get examples of public censures that have already been passed.  http://briefs.maricopagop.org/  Just type “censure” in the search field on the left.
Warmest regards,
 A. J. LaFaro
Chairman, Maricopa County Republican Committee
P.S.  Please encourage all of your PCs to keep up their daily efforts in getting petition signatures for www.urapc.org  Getting ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion on the November 2014 ballot will be historic for Arizona’s grassroots conservatives.

Rep. Paul Gosar Introduces the F.A.U.L.T Act

Congressman Paul Gosar

‘Sending billions of taxpayer dollars overseas to hostile countries is unconscionable’

WASHINGTON, D.C. -U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S (AZ-04) introduced the Foreign Assistance Under Limitation and Transparency Act or the F.A.U.L.T Act. This legislation is intended to limit foreign aid to five countries that undermine U.S. foreign policy objectives – Iran, North Korea, Syria, Egypt, and Pakistan. Rep. Gosar issued the following statement:

“Sending billions of taxpayer dollars overseas to hostile countries is unconscionable. Yet, only in Washington, D.C. does it make sense to pay other governments to undermine our foreign policy objectives.”

Rep. Gosar continued, “When countries like Iran, North Korea, Syria, Egypt, and Pakistan act like enemies rather than friends toward the United States and our allies, the time to cut them off from U.S. taxpayer dollars is now.”

Rep. Gosar previously introduced amendments to the last two Department of Defense Appropriations Acts that sought to ensure that foreign aid was not given to hostile international regimes and organizations.  He has introduced the F.A.U.L.T Act as stand-alone legislation in the hope to expand upon these principles and codify them into law.

As the first decade of the 21st century nears an end, the Middle East is a region with multiple conflicts that impact the world, and particularly the United States. With Iran crossing the nuclear threshold, civil wars raging in Iraq, Sudan, and Yemen, Christians embattled across the region, with Israel in existential peril and its survival being questioned, and radical Islam sweeping beyond the region, it is imperative, as Americans, that we have a knowledge and understanding of this region. Historian, author, and radio personality, Dr. Steven Carol can shed light on these issues and answer questions that arise. His books can be purchased at the seminar.

Big First Day for Border Fence Donation Website

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 21, 2011
CONTACT: Mike Philipsen

People from all 50 states offer financial support

(State Capitol, Phoenix) – The totals are in from the first day of donations to help build a fence along the Arizona-Mexico border. More than $58,000 poured in to www.buildtheborderfence.com from 1,265 donors in just the first 24 hours.

“The Federal Government has made it abundantly clear that it has no interest in addressing the invasion of drug cartels, violent gangs, illegal aliens and terrorists along the border. The U.S. wants this problem addressed, and this is one way we’re doing it,” says Sen. Steve Smith, a Republican from Maricopa. Smith sponsored SB 1406, legislation that established a website for the purpose of raising private money to help build a border fence.

The border remains porous, and Arizona is taking one step toward true border security. From California to Texas, the southern border is approximately 2,000 miles, and only roughly 685 miles is fenced. The remaining 1300+ miles of the border have no fencing at all.

All the funds raised at www.buildtheborderfence.com are held in a trust fund account in the Arizona State Treasurer’s Office. The Joint Border Security Advisory Committee, established in the bill, will oversee the project.

Every state in the union was represented on the first day of donations, and that does not surprise Sen. Smith.

“We have always said with illegal immigration, ‘what happens in Arizona doesn’t stay in Arizona’. This is a crisis for the nation, and it is gratifying to know that all 50 states agree,” says Sen. Smith.

Speaker Tobin Calls for Cyber Terrorists to be Held Accountable

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 24, 2011
CONTACT: Daniel Scarpinato

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX (June 24, 2011) – Speaker Andy Tobin released the following statement in response to the hacking group LulzSec breaking into the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s computers on Thursday and downloading hundreds of files:

“I am outraged to learn that a group of international hackers have illegally stolen and released hundreds of law enforcement files from the Department of Public Safety. Even more outrageous is that they have done this in response to the Legislature and Governor’s efforts to secure our border and protect Arizona citizens by passing SB1070. Instead, this extremist group has now put hundreds of Arizona’s finest in danger. These cyber terrorists should be prosecuted to the full extent possible. Their actions have compromised the safety of our brave law enforcement officers and their families. Therefore, we will be looking at whether additional policy is needed to fully hold them accountable in the event the release of this information results in harm to any of our public safety officers or their families.”

National ID, Misguided State Legislation, the Clintons and E-Verify: What do they have in Common?

States send children’s school enrollment data to the Feds.  This data has always been protected under FERPA and other privacy laws.

Now the Department of Education is creating new regulations rolling back the privacy of that data – as the federal government always does once they have the data they want – so they can use it for other purposes not agreed to previously by the students, parents, or states.

You Have Until Monday, May 23…to Object to DOE’s Invasion of Student Privacy

The Department of Education (DOE) has proposed regulatory changes that would gut the primary federal student-privacy statute, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA imposes strict limits on how the government may use so-called Personally Identifiable Information (PII) collected on students by schools or government education agencies. Under the proposed changes to the regulations issued under FERPA, DOE would enable a system of massive data collection on students – potentially including such things as family income range, hair color, blood type, and health-care history – that could then be shared with other government agencies (both federal and in other states) for unspecified purposes. This disclosure of PII could be accomplished without parents’ consent, and in most cases without even their knowledge.

And because the data-collection and sharing would begin when the student is in preschool and follow him even through his entry into the workforce, the possibilities of breach of privacy and unwarranted use of data are almost limitless.

Follow the student into the workforce.  Here we go, it’s the Clinton “Goals 2000″ program all over again.

From the Eagle Forum’s opposition to this published in 1996

Two other bills, still pending, are designed to advance the School-to-Work phase of Goals 2000. The Careers Act (H.R. 1617) and the Workforce Development Act (S.143) will support a nationwide workforce development system, state by state. Funding is provided for “one stop career” employment agencies under the supervision of the federal government. Please, let’s not let these bills become law.

E-Verify is a front-end user interface sitting ontop of the Clinton’s vision of cradle to grave workforce development, school-to-work initiatives.

The data being released under the new Department of Education regulatory changes goes right into the database sitting behind e-Verify:

The concept of “state longitudinal data systems” (SLDS) is the driving force behind the proposed regulatory changes. In its attempt to further federalize education through Race to the Top and other statutes, DOE wants to construct massive and interconnected data systems that will allow various government agencies – and even private entities, perhaps including employers — to access students’ personal information without the knowledge or consent of the students or their parents. SLDS structures in some states, such as Illinois, already contemplate the sharing of PII for purposes far beyond effective education of children – for example, to create “a network of federal, state, and local offices that . . . facilitate the development of the United States workforce.” Indeed, DOE itself argues that “there is no reason why a State health and human services or labor department, for example, should be precluded from . . . receiving non-consensual disclosures of PII to link education, workforce, health, family services, and other data”

There are even “conservatives” who read and remark on SonoranAlliance about how two wrongs DO make a right.  In other words, since the federal government already has the data “who cares?” – let’s just use it to achieve our momentary agenda and not worry what the Dems do when they get into power and have the database.

Beyond being a ridiculous an liberal point of view conservatives who assert the above hold, where is the constitution in all of this?

A cursory read of the constitution says NOTHING about this data collection, sharing or spending any money to do any of it!

It’s just not in there.

So, the days of “conservatives” asserting unconstitutionalism is coming to a close.  You either believe in the constitution or you don’t.  Saying you believe in it means nothing.  ACTING in support of (or against as many conservatives now do) the constitution means EVERYTHING.

Thank you to a previous SA commenter for this apt quote.  Two wrongs still do not make a right.

…when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government…

DO YOU KNOW THESE WORDS?

Teaparty, y’all!

Counterpoint

It’s far too early to suggest the government can’t be fixed by normal channels when voting still works. The November 2010 elections are proof that that power of The People still exists. How peculiar to be arguing isolation and despair when the 2012 elections are just ahead, a BIG chance to make CHANGE at the BALLOT BOX.

PATIENCE is a VIRTUE. We need to remind ourselves of this in this instant gratification age.

There is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD WORK.  If people want change in 2012, they will have to work together with a lot of other poeple to achieve that at the ballot box.  It means putting aside petty differences and functioning as a national team, the PEOPLE acting through the Constitution to preserve their Constitutional rights.

It is not right to discourage people into believing government is not changeable through lawful processes. That’s simply not true at this point in time. Further, unlawful processes have no backing by the majority of the People. If the system is torn down, there is no consensus as to lawful means of gaining power. Then chaos and anarchy rule, and usually the toughest, baddest prevail, precisely NOT what people wanted.

This is also unBiblical to advocate non-cooperation, as God commands to “obey the authorities.”   The teachings of Christ constantly state that the kingdom is in heaven, NOT on earth.  Earth will be problematic, be challenging, be hard.  Any preaching to establish a kingdom on earth is heresy, one of the three temptations Satan put to Jesus Christ to intice him off his purpose.

Even in a tyranny, any nation is in a better state after a lawful removal of leaders than by an unlawful removal of leadership. Honduras was an excellent example of the RIGHT way to deal with presidential unlawfulness because they established a CONSTITUTIONAL CONSENSUS amongst the branches of government.  Devastated Liberia and Sierra Leone are grim warnings that unlawful seizing of power, even with the seductive excuse of a corrupt government creates WORSE problems. Usurpers may have self-righteously removed the heads of state, but tiem and time again prove by wretched failures that they have not captured the CONSENT of the PEOPLE.

That said, “grumpy isolationists” and their alarmist rhetoric haven’t yet demonstrated they deserve being lumped in with “terrorists” who are designated as such by a proven record of murder and mayhem. It seems to diminish the guilt of the historical and contemporary terrorists who are blowing up people and chopping off heads, while inflating the threat of people who spent most of their time spouting high-falutin’ rhetoric without doing much else that actually bothers anyone else.   Just trying to argue and convince to win people to the debate side isn’t enough.  That’s just free speech.

The Constitution discusses the right of dissolving offending governments by the consensus of the people, which means VOTE.  Until THAT mechanism is totally taken from the PEOPLE, it is the way to orderly and lawful changes of goevrnance.

The Agendas Behind the bin Laden News Event

The Agendas Behind the bin Laden News Event

by Paul Craig Roberts, a former Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury under President Ronald Reagan and former associate editor of the Wall Street Journal.

Excerpts:

The US government’s bin Laden story was so poorly crafted that it did not last 48 hours before being fundamentally altered. Indeed, the new story put out on Tuesday by White House press secretary Jay Carney bears little resemblance to the original Sunday evening story. The fierce firefight did not occur. Osama bin Laden did not hide behind a woman. Indeed, bin Laden, Carney said, “was not armed.”

The White House has also had to abandon the story that President Obama and his national security team watched tensely as events unfolded in real time (despite the White House having released photos of the team watching tensely), with the operation conveyed into the White House by cameras on the SEALs helmets. If Obama was watching the event as it happened, he would have noticed, one would hope, that there was no firefight and, thus, would not have told the public that bin Laden was killed in a firefight.

Are Arizona Conservatives that naive about Grover Norquist?

Plenty of political unrest brewing over an event scheduled Thursday night featuring the President of Americans for Tax Reform and founder of the Islamic Free Market Institute, Grover Norquist.

National security advocates including Pamela Geller, David Horowitz and Frank Gaffney have all been very vocal in their opposition to Norquist’s standing in the conservative movement.

In March, 2010, Pamela Geller wrote an article for American Thinker:

Grover Norquist’s ties to Islamic supremacists and jihadists have been known for years. He and his Palestinian wife, Samah Alrayyes — who was director of communications for his Islamic Free Market Institute until they married in 2005 — are very active in “Muslim outreach.” Just six weeks after 9/11, TheNew Republic ran an exposé explaining how Norquist arranged for George W. Bush to meet with fifteen Islamic supremacists at the White House on September 26, 2001 — to show how Muslims rejected terrorism. (read entire article, “Grover Norquist Jihad.”)

Over a year ago, Founder and President of The Center for Security Policy, Frank Gaffney, issued the following video warning and challenge:

And here is what David Horowitz had to say about Norquist as recent as February 12th of this year during his keynote at CPAC 2011:

Arizona advocates for strong national security and border security policy should be more than a little concerned about Norquist’s appearance at this casual Republican event tomorrow night. Friends of Israel should be even more alarmed that the Norquist soiree will hoodwink more conservatives into a false sense of peace and security regarding our single most important ally in the Middle East.

Those Arizona conservatives who venture to show at tomorrow night’s Norquist event should ask Mr. Norquist the hard questions. At at time when the country is debating the proper burial treatment by the Obama Administration of the most notorious terrorist in history, someone ought to press Mr. Norquist on his sensitivities and sensibilities in the battle against Islamic terrorism.

Rep Schweikert Statement on Osama Bin Laden

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 2, 2011
CONTACT: Rachel Semmel

Washington, D.C. – Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) issued the following statement today regarding the killing of Osama bin Laden:

“God bless our brave men and women in uniform who have sacrificed so much to catch Osama bin Laden. Thanks to the persistence and bravery of our intelligence community and our troops on the ground, this is truly a great moment for our country. Though we cannot bring back the lives of those we lost, we can have peace that justice has been served. We will never forgot those who lost their lives on attacks on our country and those who died defending it.”

Rep. Quayle Statement on the Death of Osama Bin Laden

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 2, 2011
CONTACT: Richard Cullen

WASHINGTON (D.C.) Congressman Ben Quayle (R-AZ) released the following statement regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden:

“Nearly ten years after the horrors of September 11th, the man most responsible for the attacks has been brought to justice. This development is a monumental achievement made possible by continuous operations of American intelligence officials and members of the United States Armed forces, many of whom were inspired to serve their country following the attacks in New York and Washington. While Bin Laden’s death is indeed significant, the threat of terrorism around the world will not dissipate. For the thousands of Americans who lost loved ones on 9/11 and in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, justice has been served tonight.”

Reducing Medicaid Fraud Georgia Style

They keep saying it’s not for law abiding citizens, but here you go…

Georgia State Bill Requires Biometric ID

The Georgia State Senate has approved a bill that would require senior citizens in the state to acquire a biometric ID card to access Medicaid for health care, according to a WSBTV article.

The new bill, which passed on a 34-21 margin, stipulates the use of fingerprint biometrics for each of the ID cards.

The new measure was introduced as a way to curb Medicaid fraud in the state.

Medicaid recipient’s would be issued a smart card that would store the individual’s fingerprint data. When the patient arrives for an appointment the smart card and fingerprint would be scanned to verify identity. The card would also include the recipient’s photo.

In Arizona, I know “conservatives” are trying to do that to “stop illegals.”

Meanwhile the border is left open and “conservative” Jan Brewer is withdrawing the national guard from the border.  Also, “conservatives” in legislature want to require ID checks for all citizens and run them against the US Department of Homeland Security.

I hate to remind you that that’s PRECISELY what the Clintons wanted to impose on US citizens in the early nineties, specifically defeated by the conservatives elected to Congress in 1994.

And now “conservatives” in Arizona want to impose all of this on law abiding Arizona citizens here and now – yet meanwhile do nothing at the border.

DONT TAKE WOODEN NICKELS.

The IDs are for *US*, not for illegals and don’t let these RINO legislators bamboozle you into believing otherwise.  Check their campaign donations to see if they are getting money from, for example and among others,

L1 Systems,  RedFlex, or ATS, or  the Arizona Corporation Commission whom these companies donate through to politicians to mask their donations
