OBAMACARE: A Panel Discussion at the Goldwater Institute

FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

A Panel Discussion: OBAMACARE

Phoenix, AZ – On Wednesday, February 8, 2012, Arizona Mainstream Project (AMP) will bring to the public a panel discussion on Obamacare.  Speaking on this panel will be Goldwater Institute’s Senior Attorney Diane Cohen and Director – Center for Economic Prosperity Byron Schlomach, Dr. Jeff Singer, and former AZ Congressman John Shadegg.  550 KFYI Talk Host Terry Gilberg will be the moderator for the discussion.

Each panel member will share their personal expertise and direct involvement with uncovering the facts about The Affordable Care Act and how it has begun and will continue to negatively impact the lives of ALL Americans.  You will gain a better understanding of this law and how it applies to your access to health care, the current legal battles, and how you can help stop this anti-American and socialistic agenda.

Diane Cohen:

The Affordable Care Act mandated states to establish insurance exchanges by 2014 or have exchanges set up by HHS. These exchanges are nothing more than invitation-only clubs where only government sanctioned insurers can play. They must meet all the federally mandated medical coverages/benefits specified by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. In an effort to preserve some sovereignty, states, even some who opposed the federal healthcare law, including Arizona, are rushing to get federal money to set up these exchanges. Diane Cohen, Senior Attorney, of the Goldwater Institute will refute this notion.  Ms. Cohen has testified before Congress on the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). She will explain what effect this fifteen-member board of political appointees will have in our future.

Dr. Byron Schlomach:

Byron will discuss how government is at the root of our problems in health care, making it the problem, not the solution. He will show you how our income tax system plays a major role in determining what our health care system looks like and how it operates.

Dr. Jeff Singer:

Dr. Singer will discuss the ways in which “Obamacare” will affect the patient doctor relationship, the relationship of the doctor with the state, the relationship of the patient with the state, the loss of personal autonomy, and the ultimate decrease in quality and rationing of heath care that will inevitably result from “Obamacare.”

John Shadegg:

President Obama promised that the cost of health care would go down and it hasn’t. A recent HHS press release acknowledged that premiums have gone up by as much as 12.8% in the last year after the rates were reviewed by state bureaucrats under the provisions of Obamacare. Obama has also promised that if you liked your health care plan, you could keep it. Yet, we now know that Obamacare mandates will not allow anyone to keep the plan they had. As the nation’s economy struggles, Obamacare increases taxes by 800 billion dollars and crushes jobs. Learn how free market solutions will reform health care in ways that promotes quality and reduces costs for all Americans.

What President Obama Saw Out of the Window of the Presidential Limo.

President Obama came to speak to Intel employees in Chandler, Arizona at the Ocotillo complex on January 25th.

What most of the media didn’t show or report was what the President saw out his window en route.

First it was the amnesty demands of pro illegal groups:

Further down the road, a couple hundred, mostly upset Arizonans chanting “You are fired!”:

Probably not the ‘welcoming committee’ Obama wished for.

Idaho legislator Curtis Bowers has produced a fascinating film uncovering the people and groups that have successfully targeted America’s morality and freedom in their effort to grind America down. Mr. Bowers looks at the subversion of America, the systematic “grinding down” of American culture and values over several decades – a process nearing its climax today. AGENDA is the most powerful expose of the communist, socialist, progressive attempt to take over the United States of America.

Dr. David A. Noebel, who is featured in this award winning documentary film, will be in attendance and available for questions from the audience. Dr. Noebel recently retired and moved to Prescott after serving 50 years as the founder and head of The Summit Ministries. He remains as President of the organization founded by Dr. Fred C. Schwarz (CACC), and continues to publish The Schwarz Report on a monthly basis, www.schwarzreport.org. His Book, “You Can Still Trust the Communists to be Communists” will be available for purchase.

Michele Bachmann is running for president to bring a new voice to the White House – a voice of constitutional conservatism, limited government, and a safe and secure America.

Elected in 2006, Michele is the first Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. From the beginning, she has demonstrated bold reform, pushing to fix Washington’s broken ways.

Michele is a leading advocate for tax reform, a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending, and a strong proponent of adherence to the Constitution, as intended by the Founding Fathers. She believes government has grown exponentially, with Obamacare being the most recent example of its uninhibited growth. Michele wants government to make the kind of serious spending decisions that many families and small businesses have been forced to make. She is a champion of free markets and she believes in the vitality of the family as the first unit of government. She is also a defender of the unborn and staunchly stands for religious liberties.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Michele was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2000 where she championed the Taxpayers Bill of Rights. Before that, she spent five years as a federal tax litigation attorney, working on hundreds of civil and criminal cases. That experience solidified her strong support for efforts to simplify the Tax Code and reduce tax burdens on family and small business budgets. Michele also led the charge on education issues in Minnesota calling for the abolishment of Goals 2000 and the Profiles of Learning in its school. She recognized the need for quality schools and subsequently started a charter school for at- ‐risk kids in Minnesota.

Michele sits on the Financial Services Committee (FSC) and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. This experience has given her keen insight into the housing crisis and credit crunch, leading Michele to be a staunch opponent of the taxpayer- ‐funded bailout of Wall Street and the Dodd- ‐Frank legislation. Serving on the Intelligence Committee, she has consistently advocated peace through strength to ensure America’s national security. She has proudly taken a vow to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Governor Johnson, who has been referred to as the ‘most fiscally conservative Governor’ in the country, was the Republican Governor of New Mexico from 1994-2003. A successful businessman before running for office in 1994, Governor Johnson started a door-to-door handyman business to help pay his way through college. Twenty years later, he had grown the firm into one of the largest construction companies in New Mexico with over 1,000 employees. Not surprisingly, Governor Johnson brings a distinctly business-like mentality to governing, believing that decisions should be made based on cost-benefit analysis rather than strict ideology. Johnson is best known for his veto record, which includes over 750 vetoes during his time in office, more than all other governors combined and his use of the veto pen has since earned him the nickname “Governor Veto.” He cut taxes 14 times while never raising them.  Wen he left office, New Mexico was one of only four states in the country with a balanced budget. Term-limited, Johnson retired from public office in 2003. An avid skier, adventurer, and bicyclist, he has currently reached four of the highest peaks on all seven continents, including Mt. Everest in 2009.  After becoming increasingly concerned with the country’s out-of-control national debt and precarious financial situation, the Governor formed the OUR America Initiative, a 501c(4) non-profit that promotes fiscal responsibility, civil liberties, and rational public policy. He traveled to more than 30 states and spoke to over 150 conservative and libertarian groups during his time as Honorary Chairman. He has two grown children – a daughter Seah and a son Erik – and currently resides in a house he built himself in Taos, New Mexico. For more information on Presidential Candidate Governor Gary Johnson please visit his website.

Cut Spending Now! October 8th AFP Tour Stop in Prescott Valley

Tell Washington to Cut Spending Now!

Americans have tightened their belts, and so should Washington, DC!

Dear Arizona Taxpayer,

For decades, Washington has continued to borrow and spend at a pace that is not sustainable. Washington is borrowing nearly 40 cents of every dollar we spend and the US debt is now the same size as our entire economy.

You and I understand that our families could not survive borrowing at the same rate, but Washington continues to use the same budgeting gimmicks and accounting tricks to hide our financial crisis.

That’s why Americans for Prosperity is pleased to announce our Cut Spending Now! Tour, which will be rolling through Prescott Valley, Arizona on Saturday, October 8, at the northwest corner of Highways 69 and 169. REGISTER TODAY for this FREE event!

Here are the event details:

Who: Hard-working, concerned citizens such as YOURSELF!
What: Cut Spending Now Tour
Where: Intersection of Highways 69 and 169, northwest corner, Prescott Valley/Dewey.
When: Saturday, October 8, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
Why: To stand up to politicians and tell them to Cut Spending Now!
How: REGISTER HERE

If you cannot make it to the event, please click here and sign our Cut Spending Now! petition. And be sure to take our quick poll on how to solve America’s $150 trillion unfunded government liability crisis.

We cannot continue to spend at this rate. Now is the time for Washington to tighten its belt and make the same tough choices that American families and businesses have made for decades. We must fight to ensure that Washington puts America first and Cuts Spending Now!

We hope you will join us in this fight, and we’ll see you on the road! And don’t forget to register today!

Also: be sure to read the new paper from the national policy staff at Americans for Prosperity. The Congressional Super Committee needs to come up with $1.5 trillion in cuts in the wake of the debt-ceiling deal. But that’s pretty weak (not very “super” in the big scheme of things), so AFP has produced a recommendation for over $5 trillion in spending cuts:
