PHOENIX, AZ – Earlier this week, both Politico and the Associated Press published exhaustive reports detailing serious past allegations made against Democratic Senate candidate Richard Carmona.

These allegations outlined the abuse of taxpayer dollars, including billing the government for personal travel, while Carmona was Surgeon General— an issue backed up by internal government emails received by the Associated Press, as well as the Carmona campaign’s own acknowledgement that he was forced to personally repay at least $3,500 back to the federal treasury.

But perhaps the most serious allegation that has emerged came from previously-held secret testimony to the House Government Reform Committee by a well-respected and accomplished former female supervisor of Richard Carmona. Politico reported that Dr. Christine Beato testified that she felt physically threatened by Carmona on at least two separate occasions when he showed up outside her home banging on her door in the middle of the night.

Carmona, however, refused to be interviewed by either Politico or the Associated Press for their reports and has yet to directly deny any of these serious allegations.

To that end, Mrs. Sharon Giese, Arizona’s National Committeewoman for the RNC is sending the following letter to Dr. Carmona this afternoon:

Dear Dr. Carmona:

I write in regard to your refusal to comment on the story that appeared in Politico Monday, and the allegations against you that it contains.

This story makes clear that your former supervisor, former Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary of Health Dr. Cristina Beato, in 2007 testified to Congress that on two separate occasions, both in the middle of the night, you came to her house and were “banging on [her] door.”

Dr. Beato testified that she felt threatened by your actions. She testified that your aggressive behavior made her fear for the safety of her two children. Moreover, she testified that this behavior was part of a pattern – one that demonstrated you had clear anger management issues and “serious problems” with women and problems with having a Hispanic female supervisor.

In summary, in her words, working with you was “a living nightmare.” Reading testimony about such behavior, most Arizonans will no doubt agree, is chilling.

Yet, you have chosen to respond to Dr. Beato’s testimony through your political campaign manager, who has attempted to marginalize Dr. Beato’s testimony by calling it a lie and a partisan political attack aimed at undermining your campaign for U.S. Senate.

Dr. Beato, however, did not make her statements to the press, or in the context of a political campaign. She made them long before the current Senate campaign – and long before you had expressed any interest in running for public office. She made them in private, considered, testimony to a congressional committee. And as you may be aware, 18 U.S.C. § 1001 makes making knowingly false statements to Congress a federal crime, punishable by fines and imprisonment.

In short, your campaign manager is accusing Dr. Beato – a highly respected member of the medical profession – of lying to Congress and committing a federal crime. You yourself, however, have not denied Dr. Beato’s allegations. The distinction in those responses is neither subtle nor honorable.

It’s also noteworthy that Dr. Beato is far from the only former co-worker who has expressed serious concern with your temperament. As the Los Angeles Times reports on July 8, 2002, “[a] number of Carmona’s former co-worker and employees, however, describe a man whose instinct is to escalate hostilities rather than resolve them,” and that “court and hospital records show a history of conflicts between Carmona and other doctors.” In fact, the Times quoted another former female colleague Sylvia Campoy, the Pima County Health Care Commission Chairwoman, as recounting, “[w]hat I got from Dr. Carmona was antagonism and threats.”

But setting aside what appears to be a years-long pattern of abusive relationships with former co-workers, if you truly believe Dr. Beato to be lying, you should say so, and address the matter with the United States Department of Justice, which is charged with enforcing federal law. As a candidate for the U.S. Senate, you have a duty to inform law enforcement officials if a crime has been committed.

However if, as it appears by your responses to date, you do not deny Dr. Beato’s testimony that on two occasions you pounded on her door in the middle of the night making her fear for her and her children’s safety, then you should address the matter and explain your actions to the people of Arizona.

Not doing so, and continuing to hide behind your campaign while accusing a highly respected former Hispanic female supervisor of criminally lying, is only one more demonstration of the very pattern of hostile and sexist behavior exhibited by you toward women about which Dr. Beato testified.

Jeff Bales, a Ron Paul supporter and Member at Large of the Pima County GOP has called for the resignation of RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. Bales is alleging that Priebus is showing favoritism towards Mitt Romney, and claims that Ron Paul is still in the race.

“Due to an alleged violation of the national GOP’s Rule # 11 (bans favoritism of one candidate while more than one candidate exists), an Executive Committee member within the GOP calls for the resignation of RNC Chairman Reince Priebus,” writes Bales.

Bales, who describes himself as a “simple” man, hopes to win the Ron Paul revolution through Facebook and other social networking sites including CNN ireport. Bales is being supported by a fringe group. The GOP has been under attack by many fringe elements including failed Tucson mayoral candidate Shaun McClusky who now claims to control the url of the Pima GOP.

One Paul supporter, who asked to remain anonymous, has come forward with concerns about the group’s bigger plan for this weekend, as a result of what she believes are “less than honorable tactics” employed by her fellow Paul supporters. “Their lack of intellectual contribution to the GOP has begun many to speculate there may be Dems in their midst,” she told the ADI.

The stealthy Paul contingent plans to nominate Ron Paul delegates at this weekend’s Arizona Republican Party Convention to send to Florida this summer. They have quietly arranged for Republican delegates for Paul to act like Romney supporters in order to be elected by their unsuspecting fellow Republicans to attend the Republican convention in Florida this summer.

One Paul supporter, Rachel Owen Tyson, claims that “Romney people that have been dressing up as Paul supporters and passing out fake slates of delegates to vote on.”

Tin foil hats are soon to be in short supply in the Paul ranks.

According to various sources, the Paul supporters intend to invoke “Rule 38” which states that States and Congressional Districts cannot “bind” their delegates in the case of a second ballot.

Bales posted on Facebook a video of a news report in which “Rule 38″ is discussed, and wrote “sshhhh” to his “friends.”

By the way, what is the fetish the Progressive Left has with college and university education?  They seem to think it magically bestows some kind of smartness on those who endured four or more years of higher education.  They seem to look down their collective noses on those who are graduates of the School of Hard Knocks, in other words, those who may possess good old common sense.  Liberals seem to believe that once you leave high school your ability to continue learning ends unless you sit for endless hours listening to a college professor who’s never practiced anything remotely like what he teaches.  But I digress.  Read this example of *civility* that hails from the enlightened troglodytes in Baja Arizona.

Prescott Valley Mayor Skoog and Vice-Mayor Lasker Endorse Congressman Paul Gosar for Re-Election in AZ-4

Prescott Valley, Arizona–Today, Mayor Harvey Skoog and Vice-Mayor Patty Lasker, Town of Prescott Valley, announced their joint endorsement of Congressman Paul Gosar’s re-election to the newly created Fourth Congressional District. The Town of Prescott Valley is located in Arizona’s First District which Congressman Gosar currently represents but after redistricting will be in the new Fourth District.

Mayor Skoog and Vice Mayor Lasker said, “We are proud to jointly give our endorsement to Paul Gosar, for his re-election in the newly created Congressional District Four. He is a proven leader in Washington and has always been available to address the concerns of the citizens. We look forward to his continued service.”

Mayor Skoog was first elected as Mayor of Prescott Valley in 1993 and served through 1998. Harvey later ran again and won the mayoral seat in November 2004 and has since won re-election twice. In July 2010 Mayor Skoog was appointed by Governor Jan Brewer to the Homeland Security Senior Advisory Committee for the State of Arizona. He also has serves on the Arizona League of Cities & Towns Executive Board and as the Chairman of the Greater Arizona Mayor’s Association.

Vice-Mayor Patty Lasker was sworn in as a Prescott Valley Town Council member in June 2009. Prior to her election Lasker was a nurse, small business owner and investment advisor. She retired to Prescott Valley in 2005. She graduated from the Citizen’s Academy and is one of the founders of the Prescott Valley Old Town Board.

Congressman Paul Gosar D.D.S. was elected in 2010 to serve Rural Arizona. Paul and his wife, Maude, have been small business owners for over 25 years and are the proud parents of three children. That didn’t take long.

On Monday, our campaign was honored to win the endorsement of State Sen. Sylvia Allen, a rock-solid conservative who represents much of the new First Congressional District.

Well, today the Phoenix-based Democrat Party wasted no time attacking Sen. Allen, and lambasting Jonathan for accepting the support of one of the state’s most conservative legislators – proving that Jonathan is the only candidate Democrats are afraid of in this race.

“By aligning with Sylvia Allen, Jonathan Paton is already on the wrong side of women’s health, job creation and protecting seniors,” Democrat Executive Director Luis Heredia said in a news release.

Actually, Ann Kirkpatrick is on the wrong side of those issues, and it’s why she is supported by a Who’s Who of liberal out-of-state groups. Democrats are attacking Jonathan Paton and Sylvia Allen in an effort to hide Kirkpatrick’s support for ObamaCare and the failed stimulus that wasted $1 trillion.

Sen. Allen and Jonathan are standing together in this campaign’s effort to prevent Ann Kirkpatrick from going back to Washington and doing more damage to our country and our Constitution.

Will you stand with Jonathan Paton and Sylvia Allen right now?

ETHICS COMPLAINT ‘POLITICALLY MOTIVATED’

Patterson also struck back at his caucus for calling for his resignation and filing an ethics complaint – moves that Patterson said were politically motivated. “Sometimes, they have a lynch mob mentality in politics. People want to elevate themselves by throwing someone else under the bus,” he said. Although he said on multiple occasions that he doesn’t hold anything against his colleagues and that he likes and respects Campbell and Hobbs, he said that he suspects they are trying to bolster their own political image at his expense. Campbell’s call for him to step down, he said, was driven by the fact that he was “one of the more independent members of the Democratic caucus, and some of the Democratic Party bosses in Phoenix don’t like that. Maybe they’re hoping to replace me with a yes-man who will toe the party line.” Hobbs, meanwhile, was seeking a cause to build her Senate campaign around: “Katie has always been a crusader on these types of issues. Maybe this is something she thinks will help her in her Senate campaign.” But, ultimately, he said, he works for his constituents, not his party leaders. Patterson attended the floor session today, but was only present to record his attendance. During the multiple COW calendars, he was not on the floor, but he returned for the third reading of bills.
