Conservative (once again) objects of curiosity in the New York Times

The Times is trying, bless them, to help readers grasp what motivates these curious creatures called ‘conservatives.’

This one is an earnest stab at explaining the Trumpists without explicitly declaring them unworthy. But, as always in the New York Times, the writer can’t let loose of the exotic-goldfish perspective. And she can’t resist making it clear — like a kid dancing with sparklers — that no matter how hard she works to make it appear she’s being fair to these sods, they’re still sods. And she wants you to know she knows it.

I believe the term is “othering.”

The piece is by Times contributor Marin Cogin, who writes an “On Campus” column that on Sunday examined some of Donald Trump’s odd-duck collection in the White House from the perspective of their days on college campuses.

“How Liberal Colleges Breed Conservative Firebrands” is one of those patronizing head-patters that seeks to illustrate the exotics while making it clear that there’s none of that empathy-stuff going on here.

We are in an age of pay-back time on college campuses. A generation of history-civics-economics education avoidance is returning the inevitable dividend. Today, it’s pampered Middlebury that’s in the news as a First Amendment wasteland, where braying about “flawed notions of ‘free speech'” being afforded to ‘racists’ marks you as a righteous rebel. Meanwhile, the contempt for anything conservatives hold dear is widespread. And few budding socialists on campus are shy about expressing it.

Cogin is writing to and for them.

Aren’t campus political contrarians all underdogs? Aren’t they idealistic and committed? Isn’t the very idea of being “anti-establishment” a good thing? I think you know the exception to these rules.

Conservative students on campus don’t raise consciousness. They “provoke.” Indeed, as Cogin identifies the initial subject of her story — Trump senior policy adviser Stephen “young Gargamel” Miller, a product of progressive Santa Monica, Calif., and Duke University — conservatives on campus are not just provocateurs. They are “contrarian-provocateurs.” They provoke by not agreeing with you, the devils.

All traits that are admirable in the comfortable mobs of young leftists are hostile and needling in not-liberal students (those Libertarians, notes another Times writer, are just as tedious).

Miller, as the writer observes, is “an aggressive self-promoter.” And a “bomb thrower.” (Which makes one wonder: Has any NYT piece ever identified a real bomb-thrower as a “bomb-thrower?”)

It’s not a bad feature on fly-over people and their ways. But, oh, the insufferable virtue-signaling. If you wish to honestly profile someone who you know most of your readers already hate, do you really have to quote what David Letterman (“creepy”) and Stephen Colbert (that “young Gargamel” zinger) think of the guy?

We do already know that, you know.

UPDATE: New Video of Breitbart Phoenix Meetup Disputes K O’Donnell’s Claim

Kevin O’Donnell the professional poker player and father of K O’Donnell’s owner Jennifer O’Donnell, responded on several social media sites that one of the reasons the mic was cut off at the Breitbart Phoenix Meetup event was that the speakers were swearing over the PA system.  He then moderated his stance stating that the crowd was swearing up a storm which caused KO’s to cut the event short.  It is important to note that Kevin O’Donnell was not at the Breitbart Meetup Wednesday night as he was in Reno likely attending a poker tournament.

A YouTube video posted by ‘streetmanproductions’ from the rear of the room shows there was no swearing at the time the mics were cut, nor immediately prior to the mics being cut.

MEDIA BLACKOUT – 35% of AZDems, 47% of AZ Latinos Support Deportation

illegals

A recent poll conducted by ASU’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy focused on several issues including the most important issue facing Arizona and our economy, illegal immigration.  The stunning results were intentionally muted by the local media in order to hide the fact that a large swath of Arizona Democrats agree with conservatives on the issue of deporting those in the country illegally.

Possibly more stunning than the fact that 35% of Democrats agree with conservatives on enforcing current immigration law is that Arizona Latinos agree with conservatives at a greater rate than Arizona Democrats — 47%.

What portion of the poll did the news editors choose to cover? Pot legalization.

Here are the main points from the poll:

  • 30% of AZ Dems & 51% of AZ Latinos disagree with the following statement – “Undocumented immigrants bolster Arizona’s workforce and we should do whatever’s necessary to make it easier for them to come to Arizona.”
  • 35% of AZ Dems, 47% of Latinos, & 53% of Independents agree with the following statement –  “Arizona should aggressively pursue the deportation of undocumented immigrants”

We at ArizonaInformer are waiting with baited breath for Phoenix New Slimes “Fat Bastard” Stephen Lemons, Laurie Roberts, and Brahm Resnik to label Arizona Democrats and Latinos as racist, nativists, who seek to ‘ethnically cleanse’ Arizona.

“Recall Douglas” Leader Exposed As Bad Leader…. And Poor Speller

Espy(screenshot: DianeDouglas.com)

  • Anthony Espinoza is the founder and leader of the RECALL DOUGLAS campaign
  • Misspelled his name on Recall Douglas PAC’s forms
  • Teaches at MC Cash Elementary School as their ‘Technology Teacher’
  • Is a Democrat Party Precinct Committeeman and Liberal Activist
  • Graduated from ‘Arizona Stare University’ (see screenshot above)
  • Allegedly fired from the Murphy School District for ‘abandoning teaching post’

Unlike Arizona Republic’s EJ Montoni, Arizona Liberal Watch has “done their homework” on the man behind the ‘RECALL DOUGLAS’ campaign.

WHO IS ANTHONY ESPINOZA? THE MAN BEHIND ‘RECALL DOUGLAS’

ArizonaInformer has learned via Twitter that  Arizona Liberal Watch is launching a multi-part series on the man behind the ‘Recall Douglas’ movement, elementary school teacher, Anthony Espinoza.

We’re glad to see citizen journalists do the job that the Brahm Resniks, Yvonne Wingett Sanchezs, and Dennis Welchs refuse to.   ‘The Fourth Estate’ lives, but obviously not in the local newsrooms.

Who’s the real dunce

In clear violation of the “let’s all be civil” mantra from the left, EJ Montini refers to a recently elected statewide official as a “dunce”. Greg at Espresso Pundit does a great job exposing Montini as the one who is not qualified.

CAIR Deploys Flying Monkeys Brahm Resnik, Stephen Lemons to Attack Pamela Geller Event in Mesa

We received a tip by an astute social media observer that the anti-free-speech group CAIR launched another assault on free speech in Arizona and has enlisted the assistance of  local reporters (and Progressive activists) Brahm Resnik and ‘Feathered Bastard’ Stephen Lemons.

Below is a screenshot of the initial call to arms tweet sent out by Imraan Siddiqi, Chairman of CAIR’s AZ Chapter:

CAIR AZ Gellar Tweet

This tweet was followed up by unindicted co-conspirator CAIR’s main account calling for the harassment of the High School hosting tonight’s Red Mountain Tea party event.

CAIR AZ Gellar 2

As of 12:30pm local time, Pamela Geller’s speaking event is still scheduled to go on despite the AstroTurf ginned up by the American political wing of  The Muslim Brotherhood in collusion with Arizona’s Democratic Media Complex.  You can follow the story by going HERE  to Pamela’s Geller site, AtlasShrugs.com

Maricopa GOP Chair Rallies LD Censures

To all Arizona County and LD Republican Committee Chairmen –
Below is the front page article of the July 15 Arizona Capitol Times. I want to express my appreciation to those courageous and principled County and LD Republican Committees who have already conducted votes of “censure” and/or “no confidence.”
Jan Brewer, the legislators and their crony capitalist friends that support ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion have betrayed Americans, Arizona Republicans and the Republican Party Platform.  Their lack of ethics, integrity and egregious acts are motivated by only two things – greed and the lust for power – at the expense of hard working tax paying Americans.
The law was expected to cost $898 billion over the first decade when the bill was first passed, but this year the Congressional Budget Office revised that estimate to $1.85 trillion.  Money that will have to be borrowed from the Chinese or printed in the backroom of the Federal Reserve.  Latest polls indicate a majority of Americans are opposed to ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion with an overwhelming majority of Republicans in opposition.
During the past six months, we did everything we could to make a solid argument against ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion, we tried to reason with these people and even tried to make them see the light.  Unfortunately, our lobbying efforts fell on deaf ears and without success.
During one of Ronald Reagan’s difficult political battles he said,
“When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.”
I’m asking all the County and LD Republican Committees to make these people feel the heat by passing public censures for their actions.  They are elitists who think what they have done should be forgiven. They are mistaken.  We are not going to be able to defeat all of them, but we can defeat a majority of them in the 2014 Primary Election.
You can go to “MCRC Briefs” and get examples of public censures that have already been passed.  http://briefs.maricopagop.org/  Just type “censure” in the search field on the left.
Warmest regards,
 A. J. LaFaro
Chairman, Maricopa County Republican Committee
P.S.  Please encourage all of your PCs to keep up their daily efforts in getting petition signatures for www.urapc.org  Getting ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion on the November 2014 ballot will be historic for Arizona’s grassroots conservatives.

Despicable Steve Benson

First, kudos to Greg Patterson for catching this one and posting on EspressoPundit. (Glad to see you’re back posting on a regular basis.)

I admit, I don’t run to the Arizona Republic first thing in the morning to read what the left-of-center media is disseminating so I missed this horribly despicable cartoon by Steve Benson that ran on May 10th.

SteveBensonCartoon

It’s probably a good thing that I’m no longer the Communications Director at the Arizona Republican Party because I would have had a hard time letting this one go until Benson and management both apologized AND Benson was summarily terminated.

For starters, Benson dragged politics into a horrifying criminal situation by showing just how insensitive the left can be injecting their political agenda into a criminal matter. By Benson’s logic, abortion should have been safe and accessible for Ariel Castro to continue covering up his evil crimes – “destroying the evidence.”

Secondly, Benson is so far removed from the real world of what happens among conservative people of faith who personally put their time, talent and treasure to work helping women in real-world crappy situations through crisis pregnancy centers, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, foster care, the list goes on. Benson, we really do put our money where our mouth is.

This type of trash by Steve Benson  is wrong, beyond civility, insensitive and even evil. He needs to go away permanently where he can no longer pollute our political discourse.
