Senator Sylvia Allen Update on Immigration

Sylvia Allen

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free….”
– Emma Lazarus, “The New Colossus” as inscribed on the Statue of Liberty

Another 4th of July celebration has just past, and I am reflecting upon the 241 years of American history and how we got to where we are today:  the good and the bad.  I still strongly believe that the American principles are superior to any other form of governing.  However, my thoughts today are centered upon immigration.

Thomas and Jane Tenney were the first of my father’s line to come to America.  In 1638, a small group of Puritans from the village of Rowley, England, left their homeland to come to this raw, new country looking for religious freedom, to govern themselves, and realize self-determination and freedom.

In the 1860’s my mother’s grandparents came from Sweden also looking for religious freedom.

In 1980 my mother, Wanda Peterson Tenney, my sister, Linda Turley Hansen, and myself sponsored a Hmong family from Laos who were refugees from the Vietnam War.   The family consisted of a mom, dad, three little girls, and a grandmother.  They were so frightened when we met them at the airport.  My mother brought them into her home until we could arrange for their own apartment and find work for Shoo Long Vue, the father.

The tiny grandmother (about 4 ft 9 inches tall) would sit on a little stool and listen to Hmong songs on a small tape recorder and cry.  There was a language barrier, but somehow we could communicate.  I found out that she was crying for her husband and other sons who had been killed in the war, and she was crying for her homeland that she would never see again.

Two cute stories:  Soon after their arrival, I took the Dad and the three girls to get groceries.  I will never forget the wonderment on their faces as they looked at all the food.  As we went down the aisle the father would pick up things and look at them.  The little girls were talking a mile a minute. I could tell they didn’t recognize anything that was familiar to them in their eating habaits.   We had gone down three aisles, and he still had not put anything in his cart.  Then, we went around a corner on the soda isle and all four of them excitedly yelled, “COCA-COLA!”  They put two cases in their cart.

Apparently, the Grandmother was in charge of their laundry.  My mother walked into the bathroom in her home and there the grandmother was standing naked in the bathtub stomping on their clothes and singing.  My mother realized she needed to teach them about washing machines.  I happened to come in just as my mother had taken the grandmother into the laundry room for her first lesson.  As we went through the process, the grandmother got so excited she hopped up and down just chattering away.  She kept trying to lift the lid to watch the clothes going through the cycle, but the machine would stop.  So, she got really close and slowly lifted the lid just enough so it wouldn’t stop and so she could peek at the clothes being washed.

Helping this family was a joy to me.  The family eventually moved to California where some of their extended family was located.  For quite a few years, I wrote to the oldest daughter, Pie, who did very well in school and loved her new land.   This experience helped me to realize just how blessed we are.

Illegal Immigration has, in many ways, hardened the hearts of fellow Americans against the whole immigration issue.   We are so pressured with social issues and the vast amount of tax dollars for education, healthcare, and all the other welfare programs that are suffocating our system and has caused us to lose the feeling of mercy for those who do not have the freedoms and standard of living we have.

Border, language, and culture (government/history) make a country.  We have a right to defend and protect our sovereignty.  I believe that it is time for us to fix this problem, and both sides must compromise.

I support President Trump in the ban on visas from terrorist countries, deporting any person who is here illegally who commits crimes, and securing our borders.  These issues seem like a “no brainer” to me.

However, I believe that we can reform the legal process to enter this country.  It has become corrupt, political, hugely expensive and nearly impossible.  If the immigrant has a sponsor, a place to live, and work lined up, then why make it so hard?

Please talk to someone who has gone through the legal process and immigrated the right way.  That person will tell you about the nightmare of paperwork and fees.

America’s greatest resource is her people.  On this July 4th, 2017, we must rededicate ourselves to being that “shining light on a hill” that represents freedom, peace and hope to all the world.

Sincerely,

Senator Sylvia Tenney Allen

Sen Sylvia Allen: Common Sense is Needed! (On Refugee Policy)

Senator Sylvia Allen

Senator Sylvia Allen

These are dangerous times in Arizona and across the world. The terror in Paris and San Bernardino are reminders that evil can appear anywhere, and anytime. One of the terrorists in Paris entered Europe embedded in a group of Syrian refugees. One of the killers in California entered the United States under something called a “fiancé visa’, after being radicalized. No matter what precautions we try to take in the U.S. to keep our citizens safe, it seems there will always be criminals and terrorists able to avoid detection.

That’s why I support Governor Ducey’s effort to be sure that Arizona has a say in who is brought here.  It will be Arizona taxpayers who will need to help fund these refugee families, and it will be Arizona families who will be harmed if terrorists fall through the vetting cracks and end up in our state.    It is Governor Ducey’s responsibility to protect the health, welfare and safety of Arizona’s citizens.

America is a welcoming country, and it will continue to be, but we also must use vigilance and common sense when we determine who can enter our great country. When it comes to Muslim refugees, we should not only base our decision on what is best for us, but what is also best for them.

Many Muslims live under Sharia Law.  Islam is a political system as well as a religious system and Sharia Law is at the center of that system.  Our Constitutional form of government is in direct opposition.  Would they not be happier in a country that better reflects their beliefs?   Balancing compassion with common sense would tell America that we should help relocate these refugees in other Muslim countries.

Glenn Beck, through his charity Mercury One, has just relocated 149 Christian refugees from Iraq to Slovakia.  Thousands of Americans donated to Beck’s charity to fund the relocation.   Since the US is not allowing Christian refugees (why aren’t we???), Beck found a country who would take them. Close to 500 refugees had been planned for relocation, but the United Nations and the European Union put heavy pressure on Slovakia to stop taking the Christian refugees.

In 1980, my Tenney extended family sponsored a Hmong family.  That program required fellow Americans to take responsibility in finding housing, employment and all their other needs.   The family we helped was a father, mother, three girls and a grandmother.  They lived at my mother’s house, and I helped get the girls into school and found a job for the father.   These refugees were being targeted because the father had fought on the side of America in the Vietnam War.  The Communist governments that took over South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia swept through those countries, killing millions.  Today, this family lives in California, and the girls have all graduated and are good productive citizens.  It was very rewarding for me to help this family.  I am not against helping people in need.

Common sense is needed.   Our lives, as well as the lives of the refugees, depend on it.

Center for Arizona Policy: Abortions Decrease 3.7% in Arizona

CAP

Statement from Center for Arizona Policy President Cathi Herrod

PHOENIX – “Arizona leads by example in the national effort to protect the health and safety of women and preborn children – and the numbers again prove it.

The recently released Department of Health Services annual abortion report shows that 501 fewer abortions were performed in Arizona in 2014 as compared to 2013, a decrease of 3.7%. Since 2011, there are now 1,500 fewer abortions performed annually for a decrease of 10.7%! This is encouraging news to everyone who values life, and it is also a testament to what the thriving pro-life movement in Arizona has been able to accomplish.

We continue to see that through strategic public policy and a commitment to loving and serving women with pregnancy resource centers, we can save lives.

Although this is yet another encouraging report, it is clear that the abortion rate in Arizona remains too high. Women considering an abortion deserve better. Our efforts to safeguard women and to ensure that every preborn child has the right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness are far from over.

The shocking videos from the Center for Medical Progress, exposing the barbaric quests of Planned Parenthood executives to sell baby body parts, further prove that we still have a long way to go to ensure that every life is protected and respected. I am more resolved than ever to do what is necessary to protect women and preborn babies from the dangerous and deadly practices undertaken by Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion lobby.”

BISHOP OLMSTED LAUNCHES COUNTER-OFFENSIVE AGAINST SECULARISM, SEXUAL REVOLUTION WITH ‘INTO THE BREACH’

PHX

From LifeSiteNews

“… Bishop Olmsted issued “Into the Breach” yesterday, an Apostolic Exhortation in which he condemns gender ideology and the Sexual Revolution, saying it is a very real spiritual battle that is, “killing the remaining Christian ethos in our society and culture, and even in our own homes.”

“The world is under attack by Satan,” the Arizona bishop states, “as our Lord said it would be (1 Peter 5:8-14). This battle is occurring in the Church herself, and the devastation is all too evident.”

Bishop Olmsted has been a vocal defender of life and Church teaching on sexuality.

“How did it come about that a culture so steadfast in supporting marriage and spousal commitment two generations ago became a culture that has reduced sexuality to mere pleasure and self-serving ends?” he asks, answering that it is the Sexual Revolution, which has “ushered in the scourge of abortion, pornography, and sexual abuse so rampant in recent decades.”

The Sexual Revolution has given fake freedom, he says, and undermined the family.

“Instead of real and authentic love, this false ‘liberty’ offers cheap pleasures that mask a deeper loneliness and pain,” states Bishop Olmsted. “Instead of the security of traditional family bonds, it leaves children longing for the stability of a mother’s and a father’s love.”

The Revolution also violates Natural Law, according to the bishop, and has failed in its purpose.

“Instead of the freedom that comes with accepting the truth of God’s design for human love between a man and woman, the Sexual Revolution has arrogantly rebelled against human nature, a nature that will never thrive in confusion and lack of self-control,” he continues. “Indeed, the ‘love’ promised by the Sexual Revolution has never been found.”

“In its wake is wreckage, countless broken hearts bound by fear of more pain, broken lives, broken homes, broken dreams and broken belief that love is even possible,” the bishop says. “This is the rotten fruit of the Sexual Revolution”…

While the Apostolic Exhortation is targeted towards Catholic men, it is a must read for all people of faith, especially men.  It’s inspiring to hear a prominent man of the cloth speak so boldly about Truths that need to be spoken and debunking the lies the Secularists are peddling today in our schools, our media, and pop culture.

We at ArizonaInformer would like to extend our gratitude to Bishop Olmsted and the Phoenix Diocese for their steadfast leadership in guiding Catholics (and everyone of goodwill) out of the darkness of Secularism and into the Light and Truth that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Abortion: Seeing Is Believing

By Jason Walsh

August 2015 – On August 22nd all throughout this country, thousands of people will gather in solidarity to protest the barbarity of abortion and the heinous practices of Planned Parenthood. The main catalyst behind this great show of outrage has been the wide publication of pictures of what abortion actually looks like. In the great history of social reform movements, uncluttered visual images of injustice have always changed hearts and minds like nothing else. Finally, Planned Parenthood has been stripped of all of its euphemisms and has revealed its cold, callous and calculating ways. Tomorrow, as we stand united against the hellishness of abortion, let us remember the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured.”

Arizonans Call for Defunding of Planned Parenthood

This past Saturday, approximately 5,000 Arizonans joined in protests at six Planned Parenthood locations across the state. These protests were in response to the gruesome videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s harvesting and selling of baby body parts.

At 342 protests across the country, tens of thousands stood for life and against Planned Parenthood’s barbaric actions towards innocent life in the womb.

Here in Arizona, we organized these protests to highlight what is happening inside of Planned Parenthood clinics, to call attention to the federal taxpayer dollars that are allocated to Planned Parenthood, and to encourage the media to bring to light the atrocities that have been covered up for too long by the abortion lobby. Any taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood for any services helps to support their position as the state’s largest abortion provider.

These peaceful protests featured many pro-life community leaders, religious leaders and elected officials as speakers. Thousands of women, men, children, mothers and fathers, and grandparents came together to present an alternative to abortion, and to communicate the beautiful narrative of life’s preciousness.

Most of the protesters left their locations Saturday, vowing to continue the fight for the preborn. For many, Saturday’s protests marked the first time they have participated in the pro-life movement. The winds of change are swirling in this country, and Saturday’s protests highlighted that fact.

We’d like to thank all the members of law enforcement who protected our First Amendment rights to peaceably protest and for all those who rallied together for life.

Major Rallies Scheduled Tomorrow Across Arizona Against Planned Parenthood

Friends,

Tomorrow morning I’ll be speaking at a rally against Planned Parenthood. Like many of you, I have been sickened by the videos showing a behind the scenes view of the abortion industry.

We’ll start at 10 am across the street from the Planned Parenthood headquarters at 4751 N 15th Street (map) in Phoenix.

Congressman David Schweikert and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery will also be speaking, along with members of the community and medical professions.

This is a great chance to show the state that our party is the party of life, and an opportunity to gain additional attention from the media to help spread the word about the horrors shown on the videos. In addition to the Phoenix event, there are five other demonstrations throughout the state:

Chandler
Planned Parenthood, 610 N Alma School Road (map) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Flagstaff
Planned Parenthood, 2500 S Woodlands Village Boulevard (map) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Glendale
Planned Parenthood, 5771 W Eugie (map) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Tempe
Planned Parenthood, 1250 E Apache Boulevard (map) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Tucson
Meet at 2120 N Beverly Avenue (map) 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

I hope to see you Saturday morning!

The Time To Rescue Sexually Abused Children Is Now!

By Paul Boyer

Thousands of children in Arizona are waiting to be rescued and it will not happen for most of them unless we act.

In Arizona, we know of 15,000 IP addresses (the Internet Protocol labels assigned to each computer device) belonging to people who are trading and downloading child pornography. A significant number of these videos and images consist of infants and young children being raped, tortured, and sexually abused. Some of them even include “how to” instructions on how a grown man can rape a three-year-old and groom him or her for years of abuse.

Statistically, 50 to 70 percent of those who download and trade child pornography are considered “hands on” offenders who are actively molesting and abusing children.  Meanwhile, 60-65 percent of the images intercepted in Arizona are of prepubescent children, while infants make up nine percent of victims.  Because of these very young ages, most victims cannot or do not report the abuse.

As the House Education Chairman, I care deeply about good education policy. But for the children who cannot sleep at night for fear of sexual abuse by child predators, no education policy, however well designed will help them. They desperately need law enforcement to rescue them from their abuser.

I have just introduced legislation that would enable the state to equip, train and hire 10 to 15 full-time investigators and forensic examiners for the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. House Bill 2517 has 79 co-sponsors and uses $5 million of state lottery money – $4.5 million to equip, train and hire full time investigators and forensic examiners, and $500,000 to help victims.

Every state that has passed similar legislation was experiencing budget struggles, and Arizona is no different.

Last year, we appropriated an additional $60 Million to create the new Department of Child Safety making it an $834 million funded agency after realizing there were 6,600 uninvestigated cases of children in harm’s way. With nearly three times the amount of uninvestigated cases of children being raped, tortured and sexually abused, how can we not act now?

National studies show the average offender has between 14 – 23 victims before law enforcement catches them, which is why ICAC investigations are so critical. While Arizona has tough sentencing laws for those who prey on children, there are currently only four full time investigators in the state to proactively look into this depravity, and just a handful of part-time investigators from various agencies.

Right now, those investigators are focusing on triaging leads to locate “hands on” predators. With hundreds of new leads of child pornography coming in every month, they cannot keep up with current leads. This means less than two percent of known child exploitation cases are being investigated. We need to act and we need to act now.

Let the 52nd Legislature be known as the one that acted swiftly to rescue kids when it was in our power to do so.

CAIR Deploys Flying Monkeys Brahm Resnik, Stephen Lemons to Attack Pamela Geller Event in Mesa

We received a tip by an astute social media observer that the anti-free-speech group CAIR launched another assault on free speech in Arizona and has enlisted the assistance of  local reporters (and Progressive activists) Brahm Resnik and ‘Feathered Bastard’ Stephen Lemons.

Below is a screenshot of the initial call to arms tweet sent out by Imraan Siddiqi, Chairman of CAIR’s AZ Chapter:

Pregnant Mother & U.S. Toddler Tortured while Administration Ignores

By Joanne Moudy

Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag

Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag

Any federal prison in America is like a five star hotel compared to the dungeons of Omdurman Federal Women’s Prison in Khartoum, Sudan.  Even the tent city Sheriff Joe developed for the pink underwear club is luxurious compared to daily beatings, rape, starvation, and bug infested cages of Omdurman’s dungeons.  But that’s precisely where 27 year-old, Dr. Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag and her 20 month-old son, Martin Wani are being held captive.  Yet, as bad as it is right now – it’s about to get a lot worse.

We all know the liberal selfies of the world can’t be bothered with confusing topics or inconsequential issues like religious freedom.  And we can rest easy knowing some nameless U.S. government official said that America was “deeply disturbed” by the Sudan court’s flogging and death sentence.  That translates into, ‘we gave the family 30 seconds of our precious time, but otherwise, we don’t really care.’

But I care.  And I want to know where Barack and Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, the liberal Dreamers and all the other Muslim apologists are in this country.  Martin and the baby are – after all – U.S. citizens, locked in a cage in a dungeon full of infection and terror.

Make no mistake, Obama and his minions spring into action to defend Islam whenever necessary.  But American lives, Christianity, or traditional values – well that’s another story all together.

The President’s own actions demonstrate where his loyalties lie, and they clearly aren’t with America or its Constitution.  In 2012, imprisoned Muslim terrorists at the American Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan cleverly passed secrets back and forth using the interior pages of the Qurans from the prison library.  When it was discovered, American troops appropriately burned the books.  After the burning, Muslim leaders seized the opportunity to strike out at America, rioting and massacring 41 people.  Of course, they ignored the obvious – that their own Muslims had already defaced the Qurans by writing in them.  American soldiers were gunned down by “friendly” Muslims on the base, and four lost their lives.

Instead of standing firm and backing our troops, our Commander-In-Chief inappropriately cowered, apologizing to Muslim leaders while disgracing himself before the world and our U.S. Military.  Obama didn’t even seem to notice the brave soldiers who were slaughtered.

Obama’s next display of Muslim love was his 2012 declarations that the Arab Spring was over and we could all look forward to coexisting peacefully in a warm Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Shari’a, dog-patch mixing bowl of sublime contentment.  Since his ridiculous declaration was followed by the Muslim Brotherhood’s killing spree where they burned down churches and dragged nuns through the streets of Egypt, he was either clueless or in cahoots.  Or both.

His adoring fans were momentarily confused, but fortunately, Obama took time to clarify things while he was in between holes at a golf course on Martha’s Vineyard.

“We don’t take sides,” the President stated. “I know it’s tempting to blame the U.S. or the West (for what?) or some other outside actor for what’s gone wrong . . . ”   But basically folks, we can’t be involved, because . . . well because the rest of his foursome was waiting to tee off.

Of course, right on the heels of Obama’s decisive golf game came the ill-timed visit of Ambassador Chris Stevens to Benghazi, which of course was right after Obama’s decision to transfer guns to the al-Qaeda-aligned Islamist insurgency in Syria.

If Stevens hadn’t been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he and three other heroic Americans might still be alive today.  Because as we all know, the entire shootout and blow-up of the embassy was coincidental to a ‘dangerous’ YouTube video release, and not the transfer of arms to terrorists.

Come on folks, is the entire leadership of this country on crack?  I only ask because two-and-a-half years later, America still doesn’t have the truth and we are so far down the road to ruin that a strong wind could end this once great nation.

Sadly, based upon Obama’s history of embracing Muslims, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that he won’t even glance in the direction of a beautiful, intelligent 27 year-old pregnant mother being tortured, personally violated (while eight months pregnant), starved and isolated in a horrific prison full of bugs and disease.

But it is absolutely unforgivable that her son; a black, 20 month-old, U.S. citizen named Martin, who’s locked in a filthy, bug ridden cage in the same prison – can’t get so much as a nod from Obama and/or fast-tracked out of there by the State Department.

Surely the plight of this legal citizen toddler deserves the same outrage that Obama spewed forth for Trayvon.  Since Obama stated Trayvon could easily have been his own son, perhaps he could see his way clear to take the frail Martin under his liberal wing and get him freed from that hell hole.

But then again, Martin is not Trayvon, and the toddler’s crime of being a 20 month-old Christian American in the all Muslim city of Khartoum is apparently far more grievous to our nation’s black leaders, than a teen with a rap sheet.

Of course the First Lady is too busy to be involved.  After all, she just made that all important trip to Topeka, Kansas, where she so ‘eloquently’ stated, “When you encounter folks who still hold the old prejudices because they’ve only been around folks like themselves . . . it is up to you to help them see things differently.”

See things differently?  I guess it’s easier to tell that to a group of American high school students and not to her Muslim buddies in the Sudanese government.  Or maybe it’s just easier for the First Lady to bash Christianity, traditional marriage and pro-life values, since that’s exactly what she did.  That’s got to be a pretty proud moment for her.

Meanwhile, Hillary’s busy on the campaign trail trying to live down her early resume when she worked for the communist run law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein.  True, she’s tried to bury that memory, but some people don’t forget.

But surely she hasn’t forgotten how ‘it takes a village’ to raise a child (unless the child is an American citizen in a prison in Khartoum) and that this might be the right time to raise her voice against the holocaust happening in Shari’a run countries.  I suspect she’s too busy covering up that little Benghazi thing and those unfortunate sequences of events that don’t really make a difference – to notice Meriam, the baby or Martin.

They are, after all, just fighting to stay alive and get through the massacre that’s in front of them with dignity.   But I don’t think dignity is a word in Hillary’s vocabulary.

And Mr. Kerry . . . where is your outrage?  Could it be that you used up all your emotions gallivanting around with your old pal, Jane Fonda back in the 1960’s?  Because the two of you sure shared a lot of hatred, treachery, and outrage against American fighting troops back then.  Now that you’re Secretary of State, perhaps you could pull a few strings and have coffee with someone in Sudan and demand Martin’s release . . . then again, you’re probably too busy bashing America.

And where are John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John McCain, Jeff Flake, and all the other ‘Dreamers’ in this country who rag on and on, spewing their diatribe about open borders and embracing illegal aliens who aren’t within ten years of legally earning U.S. Citizenship?

Considering Meriam’s young son, Martin, is already a legal American citizen who’s been subjected to unimaginable trauma and torture for the last four months, one would think the lad could at least get some attention from these collective buffoons.  Instead their silence is as deafening as the rest.

Could it be that their feigned fretting over the illegal alien population is as fabricated as their fake concern for future of this country?  Could it be that their one true agenda is about the new world order of secularist tyranny?

And finally, where is Ms. Sandra Fluke?  (Not that I really care.)

When Ms. Fluke graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, who could deny she was in a desperate plight.  The poor girl had no hope of ever being able to afford a condom or a $29 dollar pack of birth control pills.  Bless the left for rising up and supporting her – because now she can move on and live her left-wing legal life to it’s fullest, having all the unrestricted sex she desires without ever having to worry about paying for protection.

Whew!  I’m certain her trauma was every woman’s worst nightmare!

On the flip side is Meriam, eight months pregnant, being repeatedly assaulted and beaten in a prison because of her faith.  Even worse, and what many have already forgotten is that as soon as she delivers her baby, exhausted and dehydrated, she will be subjected to a horrific flogging.  Imagine her frail skin being ripped off as each of the 100 lashes tear across her back and chest.  And that is just the first of her two sentences.

She and Martin are in a living Hell.  Make no mistake, the president and his gang have the keys to free all of them.  A simple phone call would suffice, especially with a few missiles aimed appropriately at their military.  But as with Ambassador Stevens, they’d rather embrace the radical Shari’a Muslims than save two legal American children and rescue their mother who’s married to a U.S. Citizen.
