AZGOP: Obama Recovery Kills Job Creation…Again

Phoenix, AZ – If May’s job numbers weren’t bad enough, according to the monthly jobs report, the U.S. economy created a measly 18,000 new jobs in June raising the unemployment rate from 9.1 to 9.2 percent. The unemployment rate is now two full points higher than it was in the Department of Labor’s report in January 2009—the first month of the Obama Presidency.

“This is not simply a ‘bump’ on the road to recovery. President Obama’s economic policies have totally failed,” said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey. “Continuing the President’s policies will only drive up the unemployment rate further. We cannot afford these disastrous policies any longer.”

In spite of the horrible price the American public is paying for their failed policies, the Democrat entitlement crowd continues to pressure the Obama Administration for more government intervention, increased government spending and higher taxes. Additional interference into private enterprise from the government will only increase the downward economic spiral resulting in higher unemployment, more debt and fewer jobs. In a speech on the floor of the Senate on March 6, 2006, then-Senator Barack Obama said, “You don’t raise taxes in a recession.” Obviously, the left-wing extremists of his party have convinced the President to change course—yet again.

“It’s time to limit government’s involvement in the economy. This means lowering taxes, reducing regulations and creating jobs,” said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey. “It doesn’t get any clearer: Obama’s failed economic policies punish small business and kill job creation. I strongly support our Republican Congressional position that calls for spending cuts with no new taxes.”

    What an ironic statement:

“It’s time to limit government’s involvement in the economy. This means lowering taxes, reducing regulations and creating jobs,” said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey.

when “conservatives” like Russell Pearce, Lori Klein, Kirk Adams and Carl Seel (among many others) just pushed through and passed the falsely named “Jobs Bill” creating the Port Authority of New York in Arizona and giving massive tax subsidies to pick economic winners and losers.

So, at least I’m glad Tom Morrissey understands the principles of free market economics.

Now, someone needs to tell the so-called “conservatives” in our legislature.

  2. @Oberserve – You forgot Gov Jan Brewer and her AZ Commerce Authority that is supposed to “partner” with the private sector to spend our tax dollars, opps, I mean create jobs. The term conservative has become a relative term and the agenda is whatever you define it to be at the moment. I think right now it is still to get rid of illegals by increasing govt regulations and staff and telling private businesses who they can hire. And when the wage scale of who is acceptable is too high, then they are told that it is un American to move jobs overseas. Ronald Reagan is turning in his grave every time these false conservatives hamstring American businesses and claim the conservative title by being completely against capitalism.

Didn’t forget. That’s precisely what I’m talking about. The “Port Authority of New York and New Jersey” for Arizona = the Arizona “Commerce” Authority.

What’s curious is one of the guys who wrote the bill John Kavanagh from LD8 actually used to be a laywer for, yes, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey!

And “conservatives” like Pearce, Adams, Seel, Klein, Antenori, etc. gobble it up.

      Ridiculous.

  3. Curious…”Constitutional Conservative” AZ GOP Chair Morrissey and wife have been subjects of 3 foreclosures in the past 2 years… Not sure I can relate to ‘principles’…Government writes off debt and people pay as result??? Confused.
