PULLEN NAMES MECUM INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Phoenix, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, today named Brett Mecum as interim executive director of the Arizona Republican Party.

“Brett’s background, work ethic, and dedication have earned him my complete confidence,” said Pullen. “Brett knows the personalities, the operations, and what it takes to win. He is the clear choice for the job.”

“I look forward to continuing the work that we started two years ago,” said Mecum. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working for this state Republican Party as both communications and political director. It is truly an exciting time to be an Arizona Republican and I’m ready to continue to grow the Party and get Republicans elected to office.”

Mecum joined the Arizona Republican Party as communications director in mid-February 2007 and was promoted in October 2007 to the position of political director. As political director, he helped develop and coordinate the Party’s campaign operation that ultimately won seats in both houses of the state legislature.

Mecum will serve as interim executive director through the Arizona Republican Party’s Statutory Meeting on January 24th. Until a communications director is named, Mecum will also serve as spokesman for the state party. He replaces Sean McCaffrey who left the post to seek other opportunities.

Comments

  1. Pullen made a much better choice with Brett. It means better things ahead if Pullen wins again.

  2. Promoting from within? A good idea in this case. If you’re winning races, keep the folks that are getting the job done. They know the players and there isn’t that “getting up to speed” process. Now if we can just convince the Democrats to keep their same staff, we’ll be in good shape.

  3. Brett Mecum attributes :

    Hard worker

    Good communicator

    Bright

    Team builder

    Well respected

    Natural choice for the job

  4. Linda White says

Congratulations Mr. Mecum! Having worked with Brett this past election, I can attest to his dedication to our Party, work ethic, sense of fairness and loyalty and wish him continued successes in the future.

  5. He’s just interim, correct? He’s seems a little inexperienced to be the ED for the long term.
