AZ Budget Update

A couple of state senators tell me the Senate budget will be voted on tonight and they expect it to pass. It will then be sent to the House where “the Speaker will get rolled” by liberal Republicans and Democrats.

The House and Senate have about the same amount of spending, $10.7 billion, but the Senate has no real real tax cuts, just token “targeted” tax cuts. Targeted translates into payback to corporate political supporters.

Side note: state spending was $6.04 billion the year before Napolitano took office. Now its almost $5 billion higher. That’s 77% in only 5 years! We keep hearing how Arizona is not spending enough on this or that need. How much is enough?
