Kirkpatrick’s Illegal Pay to Play Connections

Kirkpatrick Earmark Requests tied to Suspicious Lobbyist Donations

PRESCOTT, AZ –First, Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick took $10,000 from SEIU, the group leading the boycott against Arizona, and for 53 days has ignored requests to return the money.  Now we find out that Kirkpatrick accepted campaign donations from lobbyists on the very same day she made earmark requests for their pet projects.  Voters in Arizona’s First Congressional District deserve to know why Ann Kirkpatrick is accepting tainted money.

“It didn’t take very long for Ms. Kirkpatrick to be bought by the special interests financing her campaign,” said Gosar Communications Director Stefani Zimmerman.  “We already know that she’s soft on illegal immigration from her record in the State Legislator so it’s no surprise she accepted thousands of dollars from SEIU.  BUT, it is shocking that she would accept campaign donations from lobbyists within minutes of requesting the earmarks they lobby on behalf of.  This is the kind of corruption you expect from Chicago politicians, not rural Arizona.  It is possible that Ms. Kirkpatrick broke the law.  The days of trading taxpayer money for campaign contributions have come to an end.  The timing of these donations and earmark requests need to be investigated.”

Here are the facts:

  • On April 3, 2009, Kirkpatrick made $4,608,500 in earmark requests for Northern Arizona University (NAU).  Kirkpatrick has taken a total of $3,750 in campaign contributions from four lobbyists who lobbied Congress on behalf of Northern Arizona University for a biodefense laboratory expansion.  One of those lobbyists, Barry Dill, contributed to her campaign within minutes of requesting these earmarks for NAU.

  • On December 19, 2009, Kirkpatrick secured $1.6 million in earmarks for the NAU Forensic Center Updates projects and that very same day she took $2,000 from three of the lobbyists who lobby Congress on behalf of NAU for this project.
  • On March 22, 2010, Kirkpatrick made $300,000 in earmark requests for Childhelp.  Interestingly, Kirkpatrick took $2,000 in campaign contributions from Ellen Riddleberger- the lobbyist that lobbied Congress for appropriations on behalf of Childhelp.  Of that money, Kirkpatrick took $1,000 within a week of requesting the FY 2011 earmark for Childhelp.
  • On March 22, 2010, Kirkpatrick made $5,000,000 in earmark requests for the City of Flagstaff and then accepted a campaign contribution from Robert Holmes, the lobbyist who lobbied Congress on behalf of the City of Flagstaff, less than a week after requesting this earmark.

Gosar Applauds Federal Judge’s Ruling to Allow States to Overturn Obamacare

Kirkpatrick’s $2.5 Trillion Health Care Vote Is Bankrupting States, Families

PRESCOTT, AZ –Today, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled that States may continue to sue to overturn the $2.5 trillion health care law.  States are suing the Federal Government because of the unconstitutional provisions in the bill, such as requiring all individuals to purchase insurance and imposing unlawful taxes on individuals, families and small businesses.  Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick voted in favor of the health care bill which raises taxes over $525 billion and does nothing to lower the cost of health care.

“Today is a victory for the American people,” said Dr. Paul Gosar.  “I applaud Judge Vinson for upholding the Constitution and recognizing that individual States have the right to stand up to the Federal Government and fight back against the largest expansion of the government in the history of our nation.  As a healthcare provider I understand firsthand how inefficient the Federal Government is at running health care and I know that this bill will do nothing but lower the quality of care.  We need real health care reform that actually lowers the cost of health care and protects the patient-doctor relationship.”

Liberal Ann Kirkpatrick defended her health care vote by stating, “I am putting my district first again by voting for this reform package.” (Kirkpatrick Press Release, 3/22/10)

Here is how Ann has put her district first:

  • Exemptions from the onerous penalties included in the bill were given to big businesses, such as McDonald’s, but small businesses must abide by the law and continue to pay the fines and taxes found in this legislation.  As Dateline: Washington reported on 10/11/10, “Just days after McDonald’s suggested the new health care laws would force it to end coverage for hourly employees, the Obama administration has issued an exemption to the golden arches and dozens of other firms that were poised to eliminate health coverage over prohibitive costs.”
  • This week, the Special Interest Group for IIAS Standards released a list of over 15,000 over-the-counter medications that are no longer tax-free because of Obamacare.  This list includes allergy medication, cold remedies, pain relievers and more.
  • Strategy 360 recently released a poll of registered voters views on the health care bill:
    • 88% disapproved of the health care reform bill because of government overreach
    • 55% of registered voters and 79% of seniors said the bill shows the incompetence of Congress
    • 72% disapproved of the bill’s cuts to Medicare Advantage
    • 70% disapproved of the increased tax on investments
    • 69% disapproved of the individual mandate with fines
    • 62% disapproved that there was no plan to deal with junk lawsuits
  • Insurance premiums are skyrocketing because of Obamacare.  NWCN reported on 10/12/10, “Ralph Nilssen’s five beautiful kids are about to get more expensive. Regence Blue Shield sent him a letter saying rates are going up – way up. Regence put the blame – at least in part – on the new and controversial health care law. “Obama care went into effect and my rates went through the roof,” said Nilssen. In the letter, Regence told Nilssen his $532 monthly premium could nearly triple next year. “I just sat back and said you’ve got to be kidding me,” he said.”

Kirkpatrick’s Rhetoric v. Reality

Kirkpatrick’s “Stimulus” Vote Sent Taxpayer Money to Companies Overseas

PRESCOTT, AZ –Today, in another desperate attempt to hide her record, Liberal Ann Kirkpatrick continued to spread lies about Dr. Paul Gosar’s positions.  As a small businessman and healthcare provider, he understands that small business is the engine of Arizona’s economy and he has a plan to bring jobs back to the district.  Under Ann Kirkpatrick’s “leadership” unemployment has risen to 12% in the district; meanwhile, her stimulus vote helped to boost China’s economic growth rate.

“As Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick continues to struggle in the polls, she has resorted to outright lies about Dr. Gosar’s plan to bring jobs back to rural Arizona,” said Gosar Communications Director Stefani Zimmerman.  “Ann Kirkpatrick’s vote for the $787 billion failed stimulus bill gave green energy grant money to companies in China. Arizonans are struggling and Kirkpatrick has done nothing but vote to ship taxpayer money and jobs overseas.  This is hypocrisy at its worst.”

The Investigative Reporting Workshop, in conjunction with ABC News and the Watchdog Institute, reported that “more than 80 percent of the first $1 billion in grants to wind and energy companies went to foreign firms.  Since then, the administration has stopped making announcements of new grants to wind, solar and geothermal companies, but has handed out another $1 billion, bringing the total given out to $2.1 billion and the total that went to companies based overseas to more than 79 percent.”

Ann Kirkpatrick’s rhetoric cannot hide the fact that she voted for the $787 billion stimulus bill.  Since passage of this bill, unemployment has skyrocketed.  And, since her time in Congress, unemployment has increased 20% in Arizona’s First Congressional District and more than 33,000 jobs have been lost under her watch.  Voters don’t want to send their taxpayer money overseas and that is why momentum continues to grow behind Dr. Paul Gosar.  As a small businessman he is committed to reining in wasteful spending and stopping the dramatic growth in government.  Small businesses create jobs in Arizona, not stimulus money that is sent abroad to green energy plants in China.

ICYMI: Fox News Fact Checks Kirkpatrick’s Rhetoric v. Her Record

PRESCOTT, AZ – Today, Fox News Channel examined Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick’s record and compared it to her campaign rhetoric.  Not surprisingly, the facts about her record don’t match up with what she has been saying.  For example, she tells Fox that she is “proud to be a Democrat” yet any mention of her party is suspiciously absent from her campaign materials.  Even more startling for the struggling families of Arizona’s First Congressional District are her claims that she is fiscally conservative, yet when asked about her support for numerous spending bills and bailouts, she says that they were tough votes and that she didn’t view them as bailouts.

Fox News Graphic

As you write your story, please consider a quote from Gosar Communications Director, Stefani Zimmerman:

“Liberal Ann Kirkpatrick will say anything to get re-elected,” said Zimmerman.  “Last time I checked, voting for a $3.4 trillion budget, the $787 billion stimulus bill, TARP 3, and requesting nearly $100 million in taxpayer funded earmarks was not emblematic of someone who is concerned with wasteful spending.  It’s just business as usual for Nancy Pelosi and her foot-soldier Ann Kirkpatrick to claim one thing but then turn around and do the opposite as soon as they arrive in Washington.  It’s clear that as momentum continues to build behind Dr. Gosar, voters are tired of the Democrat’s lies and desperate attempts to hide their true record.”

ICYMI: Gosar Leads Kirkpatrick 46-39

PRESCOTT, AZ – Today, The Hill released a poll in which Dr. Paul Gosar is leading Liberal incumbent, Ann Kirkpatrick 46% to 39%.  This poll demonstrates the continued momentum behind Dr. Gosar and it is particularly significant given that early ballots in Arizona are mailed tomorrow.

Here is The Hill’s analysis:

http://thehill.com/house-polls/polls-archive/122875-district-by-district-arizona

District by district – Arizona

By Shane D’Aprile - 10/06/10 05:55 AM ET

Arizona-1
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D) vs. Paul Gosar (R)

Kirkpatrick trails her Republican opponent by seven points, receiving 39 percent of the vote to Gosar’s 46, according to The Hill/ANGA poll. Twelve percent of likely voters remain undecided.

Gosar is a favorite of the Tea Party and was backed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin during the Republican primary.

The Tea Party was found to have a profound effect in this GOP-leaning district, with 56 percent of voters rating it favorably. Both Republicans and independents stated they were more likely to support a Tea Party-backed candidate on Election Day (56 percent of Republicans and 31 percent of independents).

Gosar also leads Kirkpatrick 2-to-1 among likely male voters. And he leads 43 percent to Kirkpatrick’s 37 among independents.

That deficit likely extends from voters’ dismal views of Congress and President Obama. Independents and Republicans expressed deep dissatisfaction with both Democratic-controlled branches. Moreover, 37 percent more Republicans than Democrats say they are “very passionate” about voting in November.

Kirkpatrick’s best hope is to win over female voters ages 35-54, who are largely undecided.

The poll was conducted Sept. 25-30, consisted of 403 phone interviews among likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

As you write your story, please consider the following quote from Gosar Campaign Manager, JP Twist:

“The people of Arizona’s First Congressional District have examined Ann Kirkpatrick’s liberal record and it doesn’t match up with the views of this rural region,” said Twist.  “She claims she is doing her part to pay down the national debt, then goes and requests nearly $100 million in earmarks that would be funded by the taxpayers.  She claims she doesn’t support Wall Street Executives, but she voted for the failed stimulus bill which includes a loophole to give bonuses to AIG executives.  She says one thing to voters, then flies to Washington and falls in line with Nancy Pelosi.  Arizona needs a leader who knows how to create jobs, not more big-spending government bureaucracy. “

Gosar Wins Yavapai Tea Party Forum

Kirkpatrick Calls for More “Spending Projects

PRESCOTT, AZ – This evening, Dr. Paul Gosar won the Yavapai Tea Party Forum by demonstrating his commitment to a smaller, less regulated government.  Liberal Ann Kirkpatrick admitted that she was in favor of more spending projects.  In these challenging economic times, the last thing Arizonans need is more wasteful, government programs that treat the taxpayer’s money like a blank check.  As a small business owner, Dr. Gosar understands this and that is why his performance at tonight’s debate demonstrated that he is the only candidate that will rein in government spending once and for all.

FACT CHECK ON KIRKPATRICK’S REMARKS AT THE YAVAPAI TEA PARTY FORUM:

CLAIM: In her introductory remarks, Kirkpatrick claimed she is concerned about spending.

FACT: Kirkpatrick voted for H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which cost the American taxpayer $787 billion, increased mandatory spending by an estimated $267 billion over 10 years, and increased discretionary spending by $308.3 billion over 10 years.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick touted her support for H.R. 1 and said that teachers and firemen were glad for her vote.  She then went on to say that she is “always looking for more spending projects.”

FACT: H.R. 1 has not helped small businesses, the backbone of Arizona’s economy.  As of June 30, 2010, www.recovery.gov reports that Arizona’s First Congressional District has received $709,260,804 in stimulus funding, yet only 3,610.6 jobs have been created.  That means, the cost to create or save each of these jobs was $196,438.48 per job.  Meanwhile, the median household income in the district is $41,997.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick claims she read the entire health care bill and that she supports the bill because it will protect seniors impacted by the Medicare doughnut hole.

FACT: The health care overhaul legislation contains approximately $500 billion in cuts to Medicare.  Medicare Advantage alone would be cut by more than $100 billion.  7.4 million fewer seniors could be enrolled in Medicare Advantage because of the cuts and some seniors may lose the Medicare benefits they now enjoy.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick claims the health care bill will save $140 million over time.

FACT: The bill does not include the prevention in a pending 21% reduction in Medicare payments to physicians, which would by itself wipe out the “savings” that the White House and Congress continue to take credit for.  Furthermore, the final health care package raises taxes, penalties and fees by $525 billion and taxpayers earning less than $200,000 a year will pay roughly $3.9 billion more in taxes in 2019 alone.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick said she has always pushed to secure the border.

FACT: As a state legislator, Kirkpatrick voted against allowing the National Guard to defend the border if a state of emergency is declared by the Governor.  (HB 2766)

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick said she is opposed to amnesty.

FACT: As a state legislator, Kirkpatrick sponsored legislation to give tax credits to people seeking amnesty. (HB 2847)

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick said she is a strong supporter of second amendment rights and has an “A” rating with the NRA.

FACT: As a state legislator, Kirkpatrick received a “D” rating from the NRA.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick said her number one priority is to bring jobs back to Arizona.

FACT: Since Kirkpatrick has been in Congress, Arizona’s unemployment rate has increased 20%, and more than 30,000 jobs have been lost.

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick said that border security is about national security and that she believes in securing the border to fix the problem with the drug cartels.

FACT: As a state legislator, Kirkpatrick voted against creating a border security fund that would have created a border radar system with cameras and voted against denying bail to illegal immigrants charged with felony offenses. (SB 1273 and HCR 2028)

CLAIM: Kirkpatrick stated that she will “listen to the voices of the American people.”

FACT: Yet in 2009 Kirkpatrick walked out on constituents during a health care town hall meeting.

Sarah Palin Endorses Dr. Paul Gosar for Congress

“Paul stands firmly behind Governor Jan Brewer’s
efforts to protect Arizonans”

(Prescott, Arizona)  Today, Governor Sarah Palin endorsed Dr. Paul Gosar for Congress. Dr. Paul Gosar is running in the Republican Primary Election in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

In announcing here endorsement of Facebook, Governor Sarah Palin stated:

“I’m also proud to endorse Dr. Paul Gosar for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. Thankfully, Paul shares our belief that the federal government’s reckless spending is putting us on a dangerous path towards insolvency – and he’s determined to do something about that. In addition to being a proud family man, Paul is a dentist, and as a small business owner running his practice, Paul understands the challenges confronting job creators when DC stifles us with endless mandates, over-regulation, plans to impose new energy taxes, and just generally (and unnecessarily) overreaches into the private sector. The good doctor knows that true job creation comes from the private sector, not government; and he will work to rein in the fed’s long arm and get our economy moving again by getting government out of the way.

Paul stands firmly behind Governor Jan Brewer’s efforts to protect Arizonans, and the rest of us for that matter, by securing the border. He’s endorsed by three of Arizona’s leading sheriffs because they know America needs Dr. Paul Gosar to hold Washington accountable on this imperative national security issue.

Paul is a bold man! He deserves our support, so please join me in helping him help this great country. You can visit his website at www.gosarforcongress.com and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.”

“I am very honored to have received the endorsement and support of Governor Sarah Palin,” said Dr. Paul Gosar. “I ask that Republican voters join her in supporting my campaign and together we will take back Congress.”

Dr. Paul Gosar is a small businessman who knows how to create and protect jobs. He is a dentist and health care provider who has garnered many awards and honors, such as the Arizona Dental Association’s “Dentist of the Year,” and was inducted into the Arizona Dental Association’s Hall of Fame.  He served as the President of both the Northern Arizona Dental Society and the Arizona Dental Association. He also served as the Vice-Chair of the ADA Council on Governmental Affairs.

Dr. Gosar is a 25 year active resident of Flagstaff where he has been married to Maude for 22 years. They have three children.

Conservative Talk Show Host, Hugh Hewitt,

Goes for Gosar

Flagstaff, AZ. July 14, 2010: The Gosar for Congress campaign is proud to announce that nationally syndicated Conservative talk show host and New York Times best-selling author Hugh Hewitt has formally endorsed Dr. Paul Gosar in his bid for the United States Congress in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show is heard in more than 120 cities across the United States every weekday afternoon which has an audience estimated at more than 2 million listeners every week. Hewitt is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Michigan Law School, and has been teaching Constitutional Law at Chapman University Law School since it opened in 1995. Professor Hewitt has been a frequent guest on CNN, Fox News Network, and MSNBC, and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. He has also received three Emmys for his work as co-host of the ground-breaking Life & Times program.  Hewitt also served for nearly six years in the Reagan Administration in a variety of posts, including Assistant Counsel in the White House and Special Assistant to two Attorneys General.

Hewitt, a national leader in Conservative politics, had this to say about his endorsement, “Washington has lost touch. Lost touch with the American people, our founding principles, and the very idea of what it means to be an American.  We have a national debt that is unsustainable, fueled by the largest expansion of government in our history. From socialized medicine, bailouts, and government takeovers, America cannot and will not last if we do not wake up.  That is why I am asking the people of Arizona’s First Congressional District  to join me in supporting Dr. Paul Gosar.  Dr. Gosar is a small businessman with the right common sense, no-nonsense attitude we need to get our country back on track.  I believe he is Arizona’s best chance of defeating the current incumbent who too often has been in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and her leftist agenda of runaway spending and spiraling debt. Paul will bring to Washington the fight for common-sense, free enterprise reforms that focus on real job creation through lower taxes and limited government.”

“I have had the great pleasure of talking with Mr. Hewitt about the important issues facing our country,” said Dr. Gosar. “I am deeply moved that he has seen in me and my message a real chance to take America back from the brink and restore common sense to Washington. His endorsement means a great deal to me and my family.”

Dr. Gosar,  a 25 year resident of Flagstaff, father of three, sports and hunting enthusiast has been traveling all over Congressional District One for the past several months and has enjoyed meeting with supporters who share his belief that his background, and his experience in rural Arizona’s way of life, make him the GOP favorite to unseat Kirkpatrick.

Gosar has been endorsed by the American Dental Political Action Committee, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Sheriff Paul Babeu, former Sheriff Joe Richards, and NRA past President Bob Corbin to name a few.  He is an Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year”, who has practiced general dentistry in Flagstaff for more than 25 years.

Dr. Paul Gosar Raises Over $360,000
Conservative Republican Picks Up Major Endorsements

JULY 12, 2010 – Prescott, AZ:  Today, Dr. Paul Gosar announced his campaign for the United States Congress has raised over $360,000 going into the August 24th Republican Primary. This fundraising total caps an exciting quarter which included Dr. Gosar receiving the endorsements of 3 of America’s toughest Sheriffs – Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Sheriff Paul Babeu and Sheriff Joe Richards.

“I am honored that so many believe in my message of securing our border, repealing Obama’s socialized medicine plan, creating jobs and finally getting our country’s spending under control,” said Dr. Paul Gosar. “I am the candidate who will beat Ann Kirkpatrick in November and I will beat her on her own home turf, the one she has failed to serve and protect from financial disaster.”

“I oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and support SB1070.   I will fight in Congress to make sure our law enforcement officers in Arizona protecting us on the front lines of our nation’s immigration battle have the resources needed to secure our border,” said Dr. Gosar. “It’s absurd that President Obama and his Washington, D.C. lawyers are suing the law abiding citizens of Arizona.  I am outraged by this action.”

Dr. Paul Gosar as a small businessman in our Congressional District has created and protected jobs for the last 25 years. He is a dentist and a well respected health care provider who has garnered many awards and honors, such as the Arizona Dental Association’s “Dentist of the Year,” and was inducted into the Arizona Dental Association’s Hall of Fame.  He served as the President of both the Northern Arizona Dental Society and the Arizona Dental Association. Kirkpatrick Complies with Gosar’s Challenge

Flagstaff, AZ. June 24, 2010:  On June 18, 2010, in response to headlines reporting that  the U.S. Department of Justice under the directions of President Obama will sue the state of Arizona over SB 1070, Dr. Paul Gosar, CD1 republican primary frontrunner, issued a challenge to President Obama and Representative Kirkpatrick to “Secure our border, don’t sue Arizona” and specifically to Kirkpatrick, “I call on you to stand with me and with Sheriff Babeu, Sheriff Arpaio, former Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards and with the vast majority of Arizonans and denounce this administration’s challenge to SB 1070.

Just three days later, Kirkpatrick’s office issued the following statement in a June 21st, 2010 press release, “I am calling on the President and the Attorney General,” said Kirkpatrick, “to abandon preparations for a lawsuit against Arizona, and to recommit to finding a national solution to fixing this national problem.

In the very same statement, Kirkpatrick says, “I oppose SB 1070….” However, she does not want the Obama Administration to sue the state of Arizona.  Instead, she seeks to use the publicity of a state and national crisis to promote herself and her liberal political ambitions.  She attempts to protect the state of Arizona while being openly against a law overwhelmingly supported by her constituents.

Dr. Gosar had the following response to Kirkpatrick’s statement, “I am glad that Rep. Kirkpatrick has decided to follow my lead and join the thousands of Arizonans already denouncing the administration’s intent to sue our state.  Whether it was my statement calling on her to act last Friday or the press conference I held with Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu and State Representative Frank Pratt in front of her office in Casa Grande early Monday morning, I am glad that my challenges to her have been answered.  Unfortunately her response looks to be nothing more than another failed attempt by this liberal Democrat to move herself closer to the center.  District 1 deserves true leadership, not election year platitudes.

Dr. Gosar, who has consistently outraised every other Republican candidate in the primary election, continues to gain momentum for his tough stance on illegal immigration and restoring common sense, no-nonsense solutions back to Washington.  He has earned the endorsements of:  Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, former Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards, former AZ Attorney General & NRA President Bob Corbin, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn and many others.

Dr. Gosar, a 25 year resident of Flagstaff, father of three, sports and hunting enthusiast has been traveling all over Arizona’s First Congressional District for the nearly a year now and has enjoyed meeting with supporters who share his belief that his background, and his expertise in rural Arizona’s way of life, make him the GOP favorite to unseat liberal incumbent Ann Kirkpatrick.  Dr. Gosar has practiced dentistry in Flagstaff for 25 years and is Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year.”

Arizona Sheriffs Continue to Go for Gosar.  Sheriff Babeu Endorsement Announced.

Flagstaff, AZ. June 9, 2010:  Support within the law enforcement community continues to grow for Dr. Paul Gosar, CD1 Republican primary frontrunner.  Today the Gosar for Congress campaign is proud to announce that Dr. Gosar has received the endorsement of Pinal County Sheriff, Paul Babeu.  Sheriff Babeu has made national headlines in the last year for being an outspoken advocate for combating illegal immigration and securing Arizona’s southern border.

Paul Babeu was elected Sheriff of Pinal County in 2008 and is the chief law enforcement officer for the Nation’s fastest growing county. No stranger to service, Sheriff Babeu is a Major in the Arizona National Guard having served a tour in Iraq as well as sixteen months deployed in Arizona Operation Jump Start, serving on Arizona’s southern border.  Babeu also served as Commander of Task Force Yuma where he oversaw over 700 soldiers responsible for direct support of the US Border Patrol in securing the Arizona/Mexico border. As Commander, Babeu achieved and maintained the highest reduction of illegal entries into the U.S. Illegal crossings in 2006 crested at 134,000 and today only 7,500.  The Yuma Sector is the model of success with over 95% reduction of illegal crossings.  These same successful measures of deploying soldiers to the border, building the double barrier fence and ending catch and release must be implemented immediately.

Babeu, who joins Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards in supporting Dr. Gosar, had this to say about his endorsement, “Dr. Gosar and I have had the opportunity to speak on many occasion regarding the struggles and challenges that both Arizona and the U.S. face today.  He believes as I do that Washington has lost touch with the American people, especially when it comes to illegal immigration. I have spent most of my life serving others and have seen the value in honest representation.  Whether it’s his background as a healthcare provider or as a small businessman, I believe Dr. Gosar understands the value of customer service and, in my opinion, will serve rural Arizona well as its next Congressman.  I am proud to give my full support to Dr. Gosar.”

Dr. Gosar had this to say about Sheriff Babeu’s endorsement, “It has been a pleasure getting to know the Sheriff over the last year.  Our conversations regarding the important issues facing Pinal County as well as those effecting Arizona have been extremely informative.  Sheriff Babeu is a true American hero with an unwavering character and an unmatched wealth of knowledge. His support of my candidacy is deeply humbling.”

Gosar also has been endorsed by the American Dental Political Action Committee, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn, and NRA past President and former Arizona Attorney General Bob Corbin to name a few.  He is an Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year”, who has practiced general dentistry in Flagstaff for more than 25 years.
