Arizona Wife Seeks to Deny Food & Hydration to Husband

A battle over a spouse’s right to deny food and hydration to the other is taking place here in Arizona.

On May 30th, Jesse Hernandez and his wife were driving through Mesa when they supposedly got into an argument. During the argument, Jesse’s wife, Rebecca attempted to bail from the car. Jesse tried to stop her and lost control of their SUV. The vehicle crashed into a pottery market and Jesse was ejected from the vehicle where he suffered serious head injuries. Last week, surgery was performed on Jesse which resulted in a morphine induced coma. The next day, his wife decided to pull his feeding tube. Jesse’s parents are fighting her decision and tomorrow, the plight will go to court to decide who decides on Jesse’s life.

Here is the local story.

Two words come to mind: Terri Schiavo

When the courts decided to let Michael Schiavo take her life, it set a terrible precedent. Now we are heading down the path of spousal-imposed euthanasia.

Fortunately, the pro-life organization, Alliance Defense Fund, is stepping in to defend the Jesse Hernandez’s right to life.

Please pray for Jesse Hernandez and his bitterly-split family and we will bring you more information as it becomes available.

  1. This situation sounds completely different than Terri Schiavo. She was in a vegetable state after almost a dozen years. This man has been in a medically-induced coma for a few weeks. The fact that the hospital even considered the spouses request is insane.
