Arizona Ron Paul Delegates Break Ranks with National Ron Paul Supporters Before Scheduled Protest

Sonoran Alliance received the following letter from an Arizona Ron Paul delegate in anticipation of a planned protest this evening at the Republican National Convention:

Open Letter to My Fellow RP Delegates,

My name is Edward Vallejo, and I am currently the Organizer of the Phoenix Ron Paul for President MeetUp Group – the first of it’s kind.  It was created in February of 2007, a full month before the good Congressman even declared, by a man named Philly Dave Gallagher, Activist in the Phoenix Area.  He created it because those engaged in the Cause of Liberty in Arizona saw what was coming, and knew that the people would need a place to gather and coordinate, for which the Internet and MeetUp were the perfect medium of communication without external control.  I began organizing the Group a couple of months later when I arrived because of my skills with coordinating efforts.

I am a United States Army veteran – and Signal Corps Honor Graduate, and my Permanent duty was with the 36th Medical Detachment (HA) out of Ft. Polk, La. as a radio-telephone operator, tasked with the overall coordination of missions, crews, and equipment for which lives depended – thus making me a natural for the position I now hold.

Being a past National Delegate for the Libertarian Party in 2008 and 2010, I am familiar with the process in which I am currently engaged here at the 2012 Republican National Convention – in this beautiful city of Tampa.

I understand there are grievances by many of my fellow Delegates that staunchly support Congressman Paul.  I understand your feelings probably more acutely than anyone present.  I ask you to hear me out.

Dr. Paul told us that the greatest good can only be done from within – that’s why he had us join the Republican Party – to spread the message of Liberty, and to not just build the Party – but become the Party.  Populate it with law-abiding, liberty-loving individuals.  Run for office.  Do as much good as you can there.  Make your Country better.

Keep it non-violent.

And that’s what you did.  You worked and fought and worked some more and fundraised, and now you are a good portion of the Republican Party – and you are everywhere.  Many of you have gone to great pains to work out relationships with many good people in the GOP.  Will you throw out all their hard efforts by airing your grievances at this time?  Will it gain you anything positive?

What would Ron Do?  Would he be out here amongst you if he were in this situation?  I think not.

I bet if I sat down and asked him, he would probably admit that Mr. Romney was nowhere near as dangerous to America as Mr. Obama sitting in the White House for another four years – especially since the ‘official nomination’.

I was the Arizona Voting Delegate at the Continental Congress 2009 in St. Charles, Illinois.  For eleven days, duly elected Delegates from 48 of the 50 states deliberated violations of the Constitution, including an Article that dealt with the Current sitting President’s failure to enforce the law regarding immigration.  I sat on that Committee and personally helped write that Article.

Being a Concerned Arizonan, I have watched closely my County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, as he has been investigating our sitting President.  He has reported back to us that his publicly released documentation of birth AND his Service Registration card are forgeries.

I could go on, but we all see it.

I am greatly distressed at the direction my Beloved Republic has been taken by this man in the Oval Office, and fear greatly for the safety of myself, my family, and my Country.  I fear the resort to the Use of Arms by American Citizens, and untold misery, heartache, and unnecessary bloodshed on American soil.

It is for these reasons that I implore my Fellow Patriots to not air your grievances at this time, publicly.  Please, go back inside the Convention hall, as one, and show some maturity and solidarity, and continue this road we have come so far on.  Let us have our grievances arbitrated either within the Party, or failing to resolute – take it to the courts.

I honestly believe that’s what Ron would do.

Ed Vallejo

Arizona Alternate Delegate

  1. Ed, I think Ron Paul is fully capable of speaking for himself and doesn’t need you trying to put words in his mouth of what you “think” he would say or what you “believe” he would do.
I will not compromise my principles by supporting or voting for the lesser of two evils.

  2. Sgt. Flapjaw says

Ed, You sort of stumbled onto the main problem. You people are Libertarians, not Republicans, and as you say, pretty much want to take over the Republican Party. You do not wish to change it from within by joining. You mention law suits, advocate infiltration, and “Acting Civilized” acting being the operative word.
Anyone who attended our Arizona State Convention and saw your version of joining the party means the party becoming you. I witnessed nothing but rude, loud, crude, disrespect, and extreme cult like behavior from you Paulites. You went out and recruited various “Occupiers” and dressed them in iniform like suits and tried to pass them off as serious accomplished individuals. You are not Republicans, nor are you interested in being such. Over the years you Libertarians have been discredited and have no power, now you want to morph into a party that has much more main stream support. You used many less than ethical tactics all around the country at many Conventions, and Ron Paul never said stop. He never told you to act in a repectable fashion.
You Paulites are failed Libertarians who have had your shot at taking over the Rpublican party and have failed. We are up to your tactics and will keep the cults away from leadership. Leadership is earned, you can’t just take it like your members tried to do in Arizona. I would think that that moronic display of childish behavior would have embarassed you….Nope.

  3. Sgt, I agree with you, but at least this is actually tying to solve the problem, he is actually telling the Bots to vote for Romney. Ok, Ok, Romney was not even in my top three candidates, but RP was dead last. To me RP treats his followers as a cult and Jim jones, “I want you to go down with me”. Maybe if Ed was the spokesman for the Paulbots people would not think they are a bunch of nut cakes.

I do not know if Romney is the leader who will bring us back to the Constitution, but I had less faith in RP. And Obama will completely take away our rights, so I will support and vote for Mitt and he needs all the votes he can get and Ed is trying to unite the Libertarians.

CD9, I do appreciate that Ed is trying to unite his fellow cultists, however he also exposes himself as one of them. I hope he does unite behind the only candidate left that has a chance to depose Obama as you and I have. I think that most of the Paulites don’t care one whit about this country, but only trying to gain credibility to act in their borish way and be against all but the cult.
They can’t get away with wearing two hats on the same day. They have been fighting the Republican Party as if we were the Democrats. I never see one out supporting candidates or attending any functions except where they try to recruit other Paulites.

  4. “Being a Concerned Arizonan, I have watched closely my County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, as he has been investigating our sitting President. He has reported back to us that his publicly released documentation of birth AND his Service Registration card are forgeries.”

Tying yourself to Arpaio’s moronic and many times over disproved windmill jousts removes any shred of credibility you held.

I thought the Paul supporters had more sense than that.

Supporting Arpaio’s actions, while it may destroy credibility with you, doesn’t destroy credibility with everyone, Jeff.

“Feds close criminal investigation into Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio
      Published August 31, 2012/Associated Press”

“PHOENIX – Federal authorities said Friday that they’re closing their abuse-of-power investigation into a sheriff in Arizona without filing charges against him.”

“Authorities were investigating America’s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, for his part in failed public corruption cases against officials who were odds with him. Arpaio brought cases against a judge and two county officials in 2009.”

“Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Birmingham Scheel released a statement saying her office “is closing its investigation into allegations of criminal conduct” by current and former members of the sheriff’s and county attorney’s offices.”

“Scheel, who is based in Arizona, didn’t elaborate but said she was acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice.”

      • Hmmm….yes, that answers to the Arpaio birther investigation, CA.

        Now I see it.

        • Conservative American says

Answers what about the Arpaio investigation into B. Hussein Obama’s place of birth, Jeff?

I was addressing your “credibility” concerns, Jeff. The U. S. Department of Justice just shut down it’s “abuse-of-power” investigation into Sheriff Arpaio without filing any charges against him. Does that have any impact on your “credibility” assessment regarding being “tied to” Arpaio’s actions?

  5. Strange….The title states “Arizona Ron Paul Delegates….”

But the letter is written by one person and is addressed to all of his fellow RP delegates.

Now, to me that sounds like 1 Arizona RP delegate, not all the RP delegates – and Brewer did announce 3.

  6. A RP supporter giving their credentials to Code Pink to disrupt the convention was childish.

  7. The Bots whine so much that they caue a lot of the problem themselves. One of the reason I woil never support RP is his horrible supporters. Both David and Jeff, see you now have brought Sheriff Joe into a discussion about RP, why. just like the freaking Liberals they try and chage the subject. Sorry it will not work, Sheriff Joe has to love respect anf most of all the VOTE while RP has supporters who threaten us and demean anybody who does not agree with RP.

Mitt won get over it, and help defeat BHO, RP knows the rules he tried to change them, but they beat him in that too, so he is taking his toys and going home.

  8. Tying yourself to Arpaio’s moronic and many times over disproved windmill jousts removes any shred of credibility you held.
