HOW MUCH TO BUY A LEGISLATOR?

Every man has his price. State Senator Rich Crandall’s price is about $25,000. That’s what State Senate President Steve Pierce spent out of the Republican Victory Fund (RVF) to assure Crandall beat conservative candidate, and sitting State Representative, John Fillmore in the LD 16 Republican Primary.

This is slimy at several levels. The RVF was created and presented as a campaign fund to elect Republicans against Democrats-that happens in the General Election. But instead, Pierce wants to make sure he gets re-elected as Senate President by supporting moderates (like Crandall) in the Primary-against conservatives. And the latest reports are that Pierce is not supporting candidates in hotly contested-and winnable-races in the General except for those candidates who will vote for him. Slimy isn’t descriptive enough. First, it’s not his money; he shouldn’t have control over where it’s spent. Second, he’s using it as his own personal piggy bank against other Republicans to feather his own nest, instead of what it’s meant for-defeating Democrats. Third, he’s not spending it on Republicans who need the support in the General-he’s choosing only “buddies.” Double slimy.

Steve Pierce has got to go. We have enough problems in the state and in the Legislature without having to put up with this guy’s selfish, lowlife activity.

And just what’s with Rich Crandall? He owns homes in Mesa and in Provo, Utah (where his wife and family live). He rents an apartment in Apache Junction where only his mail lives; yet we hear no complaints about it from the press or anyone? Where’s the outrage? Where’s the investigation? Where’s Laurie Roberts? (Oh, yeah; Crandall is one of her “keepers.” Move on, nothing to see here.)

This state needs some folks to step up and remove Steve Pierce from the Senate presidency. Where are you Adam Driggs, Nancy Barto, and Bob Worsley? You need to keep your integrity intact and vote against this slimily character. Moderates may not always agree with Senator Andy Biggs but they can’t question his integrity. Do the right thing and vote him in as Senate President.

How much have you helped raise for Republicans this year? How much has Biggs? Oh right, ZERO. How much would Senate Republicans have to fight off the union/Dem onslaught if it wasn’t for Steve Pierce busting his hump all year raising money? ZERO.

    • Oh puh-leese. Check all the bills Pierce refused to be heard in the last session. If he is senate president again we’ll see the same.

      • Between Pierce and Tobin, the bills they refused to bring to the floor are too many to name here. I do believe Tobin is worse than Pierce, that is not saying Pierce deserves to stay, no he does not. They are both R.I.N.o.’s and should be voted out of office much less in leadership.

  2. That’s right Biggs. If you don’t do something to buy votes to bad. We all know Arizona elections are for sale and the Senate President should not be excluded. Do you think people care about integrity? No! It’s all about the money. (and apparently spending it to knock out other Republicans in primaries.)

As a lobbyist, give me a Crandall or Pierce I can buy over honesty any day of the week.

  3. AZDryHeat says:

Oh I see, so the guy who doesn’t do squat to help elect Republicans should be rewarded with leadership. I guess that’s the way its worked in the past.

If it wasn’t for Pierce, Biggs would be running for minority leader.

Welcome to the Majors Gazette. Deal with it.

  5. Giovanni Machiavelli says:

The actual total spent in the Crandall/Fillmore primary was $77K per the AZSOS website raised from business and individuals that Andy Tobin told would only be used in the General Election.

  6. You guys sound like a bunch of progressive socialists demanding money that you didn’t earn. Start your own PAC, donate to your preferred candidates, volunteer to get out the vote, and stop crying like little babies.

  7. For a detailed summary of Pierce’s and Tobin’s slimy self-serving political contributions (which they deny they have anything to say about) see S.H.I.E.L.D.’s latest blog:

    • Who exactly did the Republican Victory Fund “deceive”? Did you donate to the fund?

      • Duh. The purpose of the RVF was to elect Republicans when challenged by Dems. It was NOT supposed to be used in primaries to defeat Republicans who might not vote for Steve Pierce for senate president.

        • Max R nails it. No Max, none of them contributed to the fund, or lifted a finger to help raise money for it. Steve Pierce raised every dime of it, the Fund started out with nothing.

So what we have are a bunch of so-called conservatives who demand money they didn’t earn, take credit for things they had nothing to do with, and hate success (like electing Republicans and keeping the majority). Sounds like a certain President.

          • I gave money, but you miss the point in your attempt to defend your liberal. He spent money to attack other republicans and buy his position as president. Let’s see if it works and who votes for who. Then we can pick a few targets for the next legislative primary using Pierces model.

            • Whats this “we” stuff? How much did you give?

              • none of your business and you missed the point again.

The “we” are conservatives so you don’t need to worry.

              • Giovanni Machiavelli says:

We are legion. We are the grassroots. We have had it with unaccountable leadership that fails to stand and legislate our Party’s platform. Welcome to a new and different political game holding leadership and elected officials accountable to the Party and its PCs.

  8. “We are legion.” Thank you for that, needed a good laugh.

Well you legion of do-nothing, me-first, whiners just keep sitting at your computers and watch the election pass you by. I’ve got to get back to work
