Public Record Doesn’t Support Carmona Claims on Pima County Health Care System Resignation

Jeff Flake

Scathing Arizona Daily Star editorial called for Carmona’s firing

PHOENIX – In an effort to explain his dismal record as head of the Pima County Health Care System, Richard Carmona has offered nothing but excuses.  Unfortunately for him, these excuses have no basis in reality.

Rather than pushing for change, it was Carmona’s reluctance to institute any meaningful reforms or cut spending that led to the hospital system’s financial woes and Carmona’s eventual forced resignation.

On July 9, 1999, the Arizona Daily Star Editorial Board said “County leaders and Pima County Health Care System head Richard Carmona must move immediately to slash jobs and programs if they want to save the hospital from far worse jeopardy in the near future.”  They referred to Carmona’s “muddled explanations” and lack of aggressive reforms as “managerial weakness” (“Kino Needs Cuts – Now,” Arizona Daily Star, 7/9/99).  Another Star editorial was more blunt: “The bottom line: Carmona’s record as a fiscal manager demands his ouster” (“Dismiss Carmona,” Arizona Daily Star, 7/13/99).  If Richard Carmona refused to cut spending to save Kino Community Hospital, why should voters believe he would make the tough decisions to cut spending andbalance the budget in the U.S. Senate?

When the Arizona Daily Star called for Carmona’s firing in an editorial on July 13, 1999 entitled “Dismiss Carmona,” they said, “…the Carmona years have been disastrous years characterized by drift and squabbling that the CEO never transcended” (“Dismiss Carmona,” Arizona Daily Star, 7/13/99). If Richard Carmona can’t transcend politics at the county level, why should voters believe him when he says he’ll transcend politics in the U.S. Senate?

The Arizona Daily Star called Carmona “uncooperative, even truculent” (“Dismiss Carmona,” Arizona Daily Star, 7/13/99).  If Richard Carmona couldn’t work with others to solve problems and manage the Pima County Health Care System, why should voters trust him when he says he’ll sit down and work with others solve the major issues facing the country?

  1. If Rep. Flake says he has eliminated EARMARKS, and says he has submitted more amendment’s than any other, why than hasn’t he tried to eliminate the $4.2bil – FOUR.TWO BILLION DOLLAR eArMaRk attached to the 2009 NDAA bill U.S. House Representative Jeffery Lane Flake VOTED FOR.

The EARMARK Google – Channel 13, WTHR – Tax Loophole for Illegals.

Flake is a Fake, wake up.

So what makes McFakeCard any better than Ubama, both want that illegal vote!

:-( PUBLIC RECORD DOESN’T SUPPORT FLAKE CLAIMS THAT HE WILL STEP DOWN FROM CONGRESS AFTER SERVING THREE TERMS :-(

When Jeff Flake first ran for Cogress he pledged that he would serve only three terms in the U. S. House. When confronted with his pledge upon seeking a fourth term, Flake admitted flatly, “I lied”.

Jeff Flake is a self-admitted liar. He went to Congress on a pledge of self-limiting his terms in office. It was part of the Contract With America which touted citizen legislators instead of “career politicians”.

Once Flake experienced the “good life” and the corrupting influence inside of the beltway, however, his pledge to those who put him in office seemed unimportant. After all, it isn’t against the law to lie to voters, it’s merely unethical!

Once in Congress, Flake continued on his disappointing path. Having secured a much-coveted assignment to the powerful House Judiciary Committee, Flake subsequently lost that assignment, kicked off the Committee by his fellow Republican legislators for “bad behavior”.

Lying to voters. Removed from the House Judiciary Committee for “bad behavior”. Flake thinks that he should be rewarded for those things by being made a U. S. Senator and serving a six year term instead of a two year term.

Mr. Flake, you haven’t earned the right to be U. S. Senator from Arizona. You haven’t been straight with voters and you can’t work harmoniously with your fellow Republican legislators.

Your fellow House Republicans booted you off the House Judiciary Committee. Now voters are going to boot you out of Congress.

You can go back to being a lobbyist instead!

Have a nice day, Pascoe Vale! :-)

  4. LEO IN TSN says:

Speaking of healthcare, just what is McFlake’s record on healthcare?

McFlake SUPPORTS “FREE” healthcare for 40 – 50 million illegal aliens and their friends and families, including criminals and terrorists, plus all who will continue to sneak into our country.

What else does McFlake support? Well, he supports “FREE” gov’t education for 40 – 50 million illegal aliens, and their friends and families. He supports “FREE” welfare for them all. He supports “FREE” legal counsel for the criminals and terrorists we can manage to catch, usually after they have destroyed the lives of innocent American citizens. He then supports “FREE” room & board for them in our growing prison systems, “FREE” gov’t education for them while they sit, and “FREE” legal counsel for their appeals. He supports “FREE” legal counsel for illegal aliens while they fight deportation.

Oh yes, McFlake also supports “FREE:” tax refunds for illegal aliens and for their friends living in other countries who have never worked here but can file for “FREE” American money for fictitious dependent children.

Too bad that McFlake and his supporters ignore the reality that all these “FREE” goodies are being paid for with tax dollars stolen from American taxpayers who are struggling to support their own families while they are forced to support McFlake’s alien friends all over the globe.

Incredible?? – nope, that’s the McFlake Model. And just wait ‘til you see what he wants for Cap & Tax on American families, businesses and industry.

    God bless America.
