Tempe, AZ – Today, the Vernon Parker campaign released the top line results of its internal polling. The poll was conducted by American Viewpoint, one of the most widely-respected public opinion research and strategic message consulting firms in the United States. Founded in 1985 by Linda DiVall, the company has established a national reputation for outstanding quantitative and qualitative research in politics, corporate affairs, public policy and government relations. The survey was conducted June 3 and 4 amongst 300 likely Republican primary voters, including a 15% cell phone sample, with a 5.7% margin of error at the 95% confidence level.
Initial Ballot Test:
- Vernon Parker 21%
- Wendy Rogers 12%
- Martin Sepulveda 8%
- Travis Grantham 4%
- Lisa Borowsky 2%
- Leah Campos Schandlbauer 2%
- Undecided 48%
“These results suggest what most people have known all along, Vernon Parker is the front runner in the race for the Republican nomination to Congress. Added with his strong base line support and key endorsements by President Bush and Mayor Hugh Hallman we expect to continue to increase our vote share,” concluded Brian Murray.

I don’t believe the spread is that large, but I agree Vernon is probably in the lead. When you run for office 47 times, you tend to have name ID. Horrible signs though.
Someone needs to help ol’ Martin out and tell him to fix his signs. Someone needs to tell Wendy it’s not cool to use wooden signs on stilts that block business names. Thankfully, Leah Campos decided to just make “LEAH” really large on her signs instead of focusing on her last name. Grantham gets an “A” for getting out early but those signs are going to turn into a wind sail. Who’s Lisa Borowsky?
I cannot fully trust the accuracy of this poll, and I’ll explain why.
It’s clear that at least 15% of the people polled were numbers given directly to American Viewpoint by the Parker campaign. As someone who has worked on campaigns for the past decade, I know what “cell phone sample” means. It’s a rather shady way for candidates to flood an internal poll with their own people. I have NOTHING against American Viewpoint, and have worked with them myself on numerous occasions. But, at the end of the day they are a for profit organization.
Shame on the Parker campaign for putting out an internal poll with such a blatant misrepresentation of the voters in CD9. Half of the residents of my district are undecided! How can you feel as though you are in the lead here?
If the people knew the truth about you, Vernon, they would NEVER support you. Maybe I should do my own poll about how the residents of CD09 feel about you being banned from the SBA for defrauding them out of tax payer money. Or how you claim to be a fiscal conservative, but can’t seem to pay your own mortgage. Or how you DON’T EVEN LIVE IN OUR DISTRICT.
Vernon Parker, if elected, will be one of the worst things to happen to CD09.
This poll is worthless and should not even be reported as “news.” I received the call about a week and a half ago and the questions asked were toned negatively towards every candidate except for Vernon Parker. It is a push poll and a complete waste of time. The fact that he spent money on this to try to gin up excitement around his failed attempt at another run for office highlights why he can not, has not, and will not win.
