We look forward to a continuing growth of our party as we enter the Primary and General Election and the defeat of President Obama,” said AZGOP Chair, Tom Morrissey. “Governor Mitt Romney, who overwhelmingly won the Arizona Presidential Preference Election, is presenting a powerful case for constitutionally-based Republican Party Platform positions that will result in a great victory in November for all Americans,” continued Morrissey.

While this list only names 29 individuals as delegates, the Arizona Republican Party and Republican National Committee continue to discuss completing the full complement of 58 delegates to the national convention. Any additional names will be released depending upon the outcome of those discussions.

  1. Only 3 Ron Paul Delegates? What happened to the huge victory they were going to have?

    • LD-6 PC says:

Hey! A two-fer. The most crooked election I have ever seen with asterisks by AZ GOP choices and the worst run convention ever! Believe it or not, there is a Director of Operations at AZ GOP. Time for that guy to take his surly autocratic answers and hit the highway!

      • When have you ever voted on a ballot with discovery of names only the same morning? What if we had all the rest of our elections like that? “Just show up to the voting booth, and then you’ll see who’s running.” B.S.!!!!!

And yes, the asterisks next to the names were an embarrassment and a foothold for the Ron Paul group to file a lawsuit.

Poor performance, to say the least.

        • Shameful cheating by the establishment gop. Why are the establishment people so hot and bothered for RObamaney anyways? Thje guy couldn’t even get a majority of delegates in his own home state (Ma). That’s who can beat Obama? If the goal is to defeat Obama, as stated, then Ron Paul is the obvious choice. He polls better than RObamaney among indies and dems, and can pull voters from Obamas base. NO dems will cross the aisle for RObamaney, who has no major policy differences than what we have now. The Arizona gop should be ashamed of themselves. And yeah, you have to cheat to win, because nobody actually supports RObamaney. We don’t “hijack” conventions. We don’t use “arcane” or “byzantine” rules. We simply have more people there. We win the votes because we are the majority. It’s simple math, people. If RObamaney has so many supporters…..where are they? Why are they so easily outnumbered by Ron Paul supporters? Face it, all RObamaney has is money, he has no grassroots support. RObamaney and Obamaney are browning their pants at the possibility of a Ron Paul run.

  2. Do you think you could take the time once for all of us by changing the color of the names on this list to show which slate they were on. It would be nice to know with ease without having to look it all up. It is interesting that the other person said that only 3 RP people got on the list, I know 2 of them came from the CD votes. Were all the rest from the Green sheet, or were some from the orange one…was anyone elected who was not on any list?

    • There is some overlap between the green and orange sheets. I count 25 from the green sheet. One from the orange. (also on the green) I ma have missed some other overlaps. I never had my hands on a RP list. I did see the booklet which the person sitting beside me had. I noticed that the RP booklet listed all of the slates. Only the Romney slate they listed was not the same as the green sheet

      • David, In pure Ron Paul supporter style the booklet you talk about contained false information in their slates. Names that were not really on those slates. Sure hope those Ron Paul supporters turn around their dirty tactics and become a productive part of the Republican Party. Not holding my breath.

        • You’re kidding, right? These votes were removed from the sight of the potential delegates and counted in private. The only dirty tactics were performed by the non-Paul supporters, per usual. Why don’t you people ask yourselves a simple question. If we have to cheat to get our guy nominated why do we want him?

          • Matthew Petre says:

I am ashamed that I ever lived in AZ based on the behaviour of its Republican Party. Ron Paul or no one at all!

I will be voting Gary Johnson if you guys have to support Mitt… and cheating your own rules.

  3. StopNDAA says:

Were these the same ones that were favored on the ballot by an asterisk that said they were Romney endorsed? Their names were at the top of the list, but every other delegate’s name was alphabetically ordered. What a joke the Arizona Republican party has shown themselves to be. After this convention I do believe voter fraud is a BIG problem!

  4. Anyone stupid enough to vote for, or against, an asterisk deserves what he gets.

  5. And if you can’t get the candidate’s names spelled right (Kory) how can you be expected to count the ballots correctly?

  6. Lampoon says:

    Constantin Querard – Avondale

Hmm….why isn’t Olivia Cortes name on there?

    • Maybe because Constantin Querard is on both the green and orange sheets. It looks like only the A delegates are listed so far. Olivia Cortes may show up if the B delegates are listed.

  7. The Ron Paul campaign was offered the opportunity to place a distinguishing mark or symbol next to each candidate on the official ballot but declined the offer. The Romney campaign accepted the offer and an asterisk was placed next to the name of each Romney pledged delegate candidate. There was nothing illegal about the use of symbols next to a pledged delegate. The process of electing delegates was a private organizational matter and not a governmental matter. In governmental elections in the State of Arizona a distinguishing mark is placed next to the name of each candidate. Those marks are more commonly recognized as (R) and (D).

    • Okay AZGOP. Legal but EXTREMELY UNETHICAL and disrespectful of the other names on the ballot. You are saying “it is legal for us to cheat some of our greatest grassroots supporters and volunteers.” Glad it’s legal but it sure stinks to high heaven and very destructive in the long run. Hope you get the favor from Romney camp you are looking for. You’re gonna need it.

  8. Let’s see…we had to vote in the At Large election without knowing who won in the CD elections. And do I understand it correctly? Names were listed twice on the ballot and others were left off the ballot completely.

And here you are listing “winners?” That’s going to instill some confidence in Arizona Republicans for 2012. wow.

    This list sure looks hand-picked.

For starters, how about every name listed out of order on the ballot or with an asterisk do the classy thing and step aside. Just for starters.

  9. Who was “elected” At Large? Who was “elected” by CD? Still treating us like mushrooms, keep them in the dark and feed them manure.

  10. So the establishment GOP is disrespecting the Ron Paul supporters again. Romney may become the GOP nominee but he will never get my vote. I held my nose and voted McCain last time and I won’t do it again. There is not much difference between Obama and Romney anyway.

    • Angi Stamm says:

I think just about everyone, not matter who you supported, left the convention feeling disgusted and treated badly…perception is reality.

    • Exactly. Vote for Gary Johnson, he did a great job in NM and he’d do a great job as president. Even though is chances are nil because the two party system won’t invite him to debate, a vote for him tells the GOP that you know they are corrupt and you’re not standing for it.

      • Matthew Petre says:

Amen! Vote Gary Johnson… don’t become a Romulan! The corporate elite are on the decline!

  11. Whatever you think of the process for electing delegates, you do not deserve to be a delegate if you think that there is no difference between Obama and Romney. I was not a Romney supporter, but a PC has to support the Republican nominee after the Primary. Maybe that is why the establishment is disrespecting the Ron Paul supporters. They know that if Ron Paul doesn’t win, they will take their ball and go home.

    • You are naive DeAnn if you think there is really any difference between Republicrat A and Republicrat B. Bot are big government statist central planners. Both will continue to take the country in the wrong direction. One may drive a bit slower in the right lane while the other goes a bit faster in the left, but that will be the only difference. The direction is unchanged. If RP is not there to present a clear choice I will not take my ball and go home, but voting for A or B will be moot. I will not throw away my vote on either of them. Gary Johnson would be my choice then. He will be on the ballot in all 50 states, has a good record as a two term Governor of NM and presents a positive alternative to the status quo.

    • goofyfid says:

Where you’re wrong with this statement is that Ron Paul supporters would feel a whole lot better holding their nose and voting for the “presumptive” nominee if he didn’t get that title by Mitt’s supporters cheating the process at every conceivable level, disgusting us to the point of never showing our support. Perhaps if party leaders would hold their conventions to the highest standard and allow a fair process, tensions would not be where they are right now and you would see who the true nominee is. The primary isn’t over.

    • hornsmoker says:

It’s simple folks. If you hide the ballots for two days then you’ve got something to hide. Even if your completely honest, there will always be suspicion and in a nutshell, this doesn’t pass the smell test..Your biggest problem AZGOP, is that you need to hold your district conventions independently and well before the state. Take a lesson from the way Virginia does it.

  12. azwayne says:

It sounds like party gestapo would be better off with the fewer hearing about their corrupt actions. Did any media actually cover this destruction of repiublican democracy??? There are more sources making actual convention more than despicable. It may mean something when they have to beg little harder for operating funds. Politics is Nothing but money. People, if you want to make a difference, go to afr.org, get the books “HOW TO BREAK THE DEMOPUBLICAN MONOPOLY” and kill these corrupt abuses of your democracy. The whole election system needs total rebuilding.

  13. Sgt. Flapjaw says:

The Convention was held so the State Delegates could pick the National Delegates, it was not held so that the candidates could pick the delegates.

  14. Sam Jones* says:

Notice the parsing of words in the headline? “Announces Delegates to…”
They can’t say “Announces election results” because those are anything but election results. In an election you know who the viable candidates are. We didn’t know who was already elected in CDs while voting for At Large candidates.

What they are announcing is their hand-picked solutions to the Saturday debacle. AZGOP is sitting around a table hand-picking A Alternates, B Delegates and B Alternates. How could it be any different? The ballots were crooked and the viable candidates were unknown. Amazing. Sad and amazing.

Where it True the Vote when you need them?

  15. Wayne Terhune says:

How can anyone who considers themselves a pro life constitutional conservative be excited with Romney as the republican nominee?  Mitt has in the past supported abortion, been anti second amendment  (he even banned guns when he was running the Olympics in Salt Lake City), is in favor of large government, including the Massachusetts health care bill which was the model for Obamacare.
The list goes on.  Ron Paul, on the other hand, has always been pro life (he’s delivered over 4,000 babies as an OB GYN), always supported the second amendment (A plus from GOA), always follows the constitution including working for a limited federal government.  He opposes the unconstitutional Federal Reserve which prints money out of thin air, there by causing run away inflation. Ron Paul wants to return to sound money as dellineated in the constitution.

  16. Herbie Hancock says:

As a lifelong Republican and conservative, I will NEVER vote for Establishment Mitt Romney. Republicans and Democrats have gotten so close on every issue— CONTROL, and make you believe they are still different because of issues like gay marriage and abortion. Well I am here to tell you I don’t care about gay marriage or abortion. I care about illegal wars. I care about the government reaching into my pocket. I am TIRED of these bankster corporate cartel backed candidates. Mitt Rmoney, Obama, it will be 4 years of the same. I am a sick and tired Republican. No to Mitt.

  17. dmcgee77 says:

I’m holding out for a greater revolution. When Jesus returns to set up his kingdom on earth. The book of Daniel says the “saints will inherit that kingdom” which means the “meek shall inherit the earth.” It’s all coming down very soon. Concerning the rich who squash the faces of the poor, Jesus said, “they have their reward” which means the comforts they now have at the expense of others is ALL that they get. There is no reward for them in the coming kingdom.

Time to invest in the real revolution, folks.

  18. Voice of Reason says:

If the GOP wants to push another loser candidate like Romney, then I’ll just write Ron Paul in. After all of the lies and cheating to push Romney, I’m so disgusted with the GOP I might just join the Libertarian party and try to bring as many friends and family members with me. I’ll never give another dime to a party that behaves in this manner. Good luck beating Obama after you’ve ostracized 20% of the Republican base and lost the potential to win independents and take votes from the Democrats. Nobody is switching parties to vote for Romney. Nobody, not even Republicans, are excited about voting for him. I hope he has enough money to buy support in all 50 states, because nobody will be volunteering for him.

  19. To those of you who thwarted the democratic process, you are no different than the party leaders in the former Soviet Union. You should all be ashamed of yourselves as it was all caught on tape. Can’t hide behind closed doors. You just assured 4 more years of Obama. Hope you like the divine justice that is coming your way because of a lack of integrity and following the rules. The truth is out about how you do business in the state of Arizona. Totally UnAmerican and not democratic.

  20. Mathew Gonzales of CD8 says:

AZ GOP establishment cheated us out of delegates.

We had at least 5 people on our Ron Paul slate that won after CD voting. The Chairman Morrissy announced names of CD elections and 5 of those names were Ron Paul slate that are no where to be seen on this new “list of official delegates”. Thank you AZ GOP you fuckin mafia.

    • @Mathew Gonzales of CD8,

Arizona Republicans originally were supposed to have 58 delegates and 58 alternates to the national convention. Because Arizona moved the presidential preference election into February, we were penalized by the RNC to only have half our delegation = 29.

Not knowing whether or not the RNC would allow the AZGOP to bring our entire delegation, rather than only vote for 29 delegates, the AZGOP decided to elect 29 delegates and 28 alternates and call them the “A” group. These individuals would be guaranteed seating on the floor of the convention (with the alternates in the risers awaiting the opportunity to replace a delegate if needed.)

The AZGOP then decided to elect the other half of the delegation (the “penalized” delegates and alternates) with the hope that the RNC would change its mind OR the nominee would request that the full Arizona delegation be seated on the floor of the convention (58 delegates). This second group of delegates and alternates are called the “B” group.

At this time AZGOP will only be seating the 29 delegates on the floor of the convention with the other 28 alternates in the stadium on standby. The “B” group (58) will also be in attendance but will probably not be allowed on the floor.

After what happened on Saturday, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the RNC say that there is no way at all that the “B” group will now be allowed on the floor AND I definitely don’t think Mitt Romney will now demand that the full delegation be seated after what happened to his son.

So, all the hell-raisers who went to the convention on Saturday had their fun but it came at a price for the Arizona Republican delegation. I’m willing to bet that many of the Ron Paul delegates were probably in that “B” group.

And watch the language on this blog. Dropping “F” bombs will get you banned.

      • LD-6 PC says:

Why one less alternate than delegates?

“So, all the hell-raisers who went to the convention on Saturday…” I consider Paul-bots the annoying wing of the Republican Party. But, there is no high road associated with that disaster Saturday. Voting for At Large delegates without knowing the results of CD elections is ridiculous. The presenters of the convention are more to blame for a bad experience than the Paul supporters. Can you hear the establishment now? “The conservatives can’t handle running the Party.” The conservative PC effort in Arizona has been set back 10 years all due to poor planning for last Saturday.

      • Matthew Petre says:

If the AZGOP is this under-handed they deserve a total of 0 delegates to the convention…. Revolution 2012!

      • Matthew says:

        Shane,

Why do suspect Paul support to be in the “banned” block of voters? Why isn’t it the other way around?

This is not an attack, just a statement.
You say that the “nominee could request that the full Arizona delegation be seated on the floor of the convention”.

This sounds like a setup along with self-perjury in admitting that the presumptive nominee has been Mitt Romney all along. No wonder the AZ GOP had to jump the gun early in the primary season. It was the only way for the AZ GOP to control half the delegates.

Mitt Romney has no power to release or retain those delegates. He is not the nominee.

  21. Mathew Gonzales of CD8 says:

Alberto Gutier should not be on that list especially since he was too busy in the backroom harassing voters from observing the vote count for fairness. Alberto Gutiero felt the need to harass several voters with his pompous attitude and sheriffs walking about questioning and aggressively insinuating that we did not belong there and could not be there. Since the ballots were taken in boxes out of sight I found it interesting that a vote count observation was being intimidated and harassed. The delegates at large vote results didnt come out until 4 days later after numerous recounts and now the original results of the CD votes are altered completely.Fraudulent is not enough to describe it.

    • Gutier is a worthless piece of s*** I’ve watched him for years run around acting important, but he never really does anything for the party.

  22. @Mathew Gonzales,

The ballots were kept under lock and key and were sealed to prevent tampering. Both Ron Paul representatives Shawn Dow and Pepper Draper were present to verify the integrity of the ballots. I suggest you contact them to confirm my statement. They sat in the AZGOP office for over six hours observing the recount of the ballots.

Alberto Gutier was elected as Sargent-At-Arms of the Arizona Republican Party. My guess is that you voted to elect him to that position if you were a PC at the time. His job is to ensure that random individuals are not wandering in and out of a vote counting process. You elected him to do that job. Unless you were designated a Ron Paul observer, you had no business popping in and out of any secured rooms where the Paul and Romney representatives were observing the tabulating.

  23. Oh and let’s also correct something that the senior advisor to the Ron Paul campaign said on his blog. The air conditioning at Grand Canyon University was never turned off to sweat out the Ron Paul people.

  24. Matthew says:

Watched the whole thing on the live-stream, and followed several websites during the process.

    1. The Arizona GOP team had probably met several times (or many) before the day to arrange how they were going to “get away with” making sure Mitt was the nominee. This happened way back before February by allowing the preference election (primary) to happen early. There was no “real” reason for this. Why would Arizona feel the need to jump the gun and get half their delegates banned? The only real reason is because the GOP was holding back the other 29, “just in case”; then later, ok the release of those delegates to Mitt, thus keeping them from belonging to Dr. Paul.

    2. The GOP across America believes that standing behind Mr. Romney is the best choice for their party. Jobs are secured in the party, people stay in office, the power remains with the few.

    3. The people of the United States of America do not want Mitt Romney in office. I’ve yet to meet a single person in Arizona (face to face) that has openly pledged their support to Romney. I see no Romney signs in the Prescott area. I have met people who support Ron Paul, and I have seen his signs and bumper stickers everywhere. I’m sure this is true in other places across the U.S.

    4. The AZ GOP has a lot to answer for. When people decide to get involved in the process of politics, it is not up to the leadership to decide whether those people are “fit” to be there or not. It is not up to the leadership to determine if a person “supports their established platform” or not. This is why people are angry all over the country. When people choose to get involved, and spend their valuable time and hard earned money to be slighted by the establishment in every way, shape and form; it is cause for retaliation in some form.

    5. I understand the GOP’s position: “Ron Paul supporters openly say they will not support the Republican nominee if it is not Paul. Therefore, we are forced to put our man in office who will back his own party.”

There are several things wrong with this statement. Ron Paul has been a dedicated republican his whole life. Some of his ideas come across as anti-establishment, but that is precisely what the America People want! It doesn’t matter which party they are in. People are tired of the games. People are tired of being lied to. People are tired of suspecting they live in the “Matrix”, just to find out it’s actually TRUE!

Putting someone forward as the party’s nominee by marginalizing the will of the people is sheer nonsense.

After the convention on Saturday, it is clear that the GOP cares not for Romney or Paul or any other candidate for that matter. It cares for its own survival and its own power. It cares only that it retains the right and control to elect the leaders of its choosing. This is why Paul people are being marginalized.

    No?

Why was Josh Romney even allowed on the platform? Why him? Why not a person from the Ron Paul camp? Why all the secrecy? Why all the ballot box stuffing? Why all the games? Why is Mitt Romney being crammed down the throats of the people? There is more than one nominee!! Just let it play out fairly!

    6. The reason Ron Paul’s supporters are so disruptive (in my own opinion) is because when playing by the rules, there is always some loophole the GOP comes up with to thwart the process. This constant trickery and deceit is repugnant! The people finally are seeing inside the process and they don’t like what they’re discovering.

What does any person do when they see a building on fire? They yell “FIRE!”
What does any person do when they catch a thief in the process of stealing? They yell “THIEF!”
What does any person do when they catch a liar in the process of lying? They yell “LIAR!”

Why won’t Paul’s people back Romney? Well, maybe it’s because the GOP has shown us its true colors.

  25. May be you need to watch this to understand more about what happened in the convention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9mxC_5PB6Q&feature=youtu.be
And make your own search on youtube to see what was recorded live during the convention. You may see the different results when voted, and what the establishment did to shut the peoples votes. No wonder they announce delegates list, not election results…

  26. Pima PC says:

That chooch, Marko, calls the Presidential Preference Election a “Beauty Contest” and thinks it’s OK for the RP thugs to subvert the will of the voters by overtaking the conventions and having delegates vote for their candidate instead of the one preferred by the voters of the respective states.

    • Educate yourself says:

“chooch”, “thugs”…First educate your self about how election system works ( both democrats and republicans) before calling names and commenting on something you clearly don’t understand. Name calling is easy, reading and understanding take times. Delegates are elected by the people present in the convention ( in case of AZ). It’s not Dr. Paul’s fault that Romney/Santorum/Gingrich supporters don’t want to spend their time to elect delegates. Let’s put it easy for you so you may get it: whoever shows on the convention gets to vote.

  27. Jim Konos says:

    Et tu, Brute?

  28. ARS 16-822 E:

“The minimum duties of a precinct committeeman shall be to assist his political party in voter registration and to assist the voters of his political party to vote on election days. Additional duties shall be as provided for in the state committee bylaws of the party of which he is a member.”

Anyone have access to the state bylaws? And what oath do elected officials, even down to PC’s, actually take? PC’s are representatives of their precincts, that’s clear in the oath they take. Seems to me that if an elected PC is actually saying “F” the GOP then they are doing so because that’s what their district is saying. Hmmm.

If you are honest about being a PC in the GOP, then you have a statutory duty to bring in more R voters. And you’re going to do that through immolation?

    • Asterisk says:

azgop bylaws are at azgop.org. maricopa county bylaws are at maricopagop.org. Wilson, division is not what occurs when a body of Republicans answers a wrong committed by other Republicans, such as prejudiced ballots. The division occurred when the wrong was committed. Challenging crooked ballots is part of our job description whether it appears in the bylaws or not. : ) On this we should all be united including those wrongfully elected.

  29. Does anyone know if the by-laws allow for removal of office for any PC’s that publicly support a candidate that doesn’t make it past the primary?

  30. Marty Smith says:

So, according to RP’ers, people are so dumb – they just scan ballots and vote for the asterisk.

OK, I take that back. RP’ers are that dumb

    • Educate yourself says:

” ..The Romney campaign accepted the offer and an asterisk was placed next to the name of each Romney pledged delegate candidate…”
If Dr. Paul’s supporters were really so dumb there should not have been issues and everyone would have voted for Romney, and the establishment would not have to end the convention and hand pick their delegates.
What I am seeing here is a lot of name calling for Dr. Paul’s supporters. And just because they follow the rules of the GOP.
May be first learn the Rules Of Order, watch videos on youtube to see first hand ( live recordings, not what media tells you) who and when didn’t follow them. Educated and knowledgeable people are difficult to manipulate.

  31. Educate yourself says:

Let me try to show why people trust Dr. Paul.
Difficult to distinguish whether he said something many years ago or in 2012. Not even comparable to flip-floppers Obama and Romney…No wonder establishment does not like someone that cannot be bought in the White House.

May be you can find yourself videos of Dr. Paul’s events, and compare to Romney’s events. Do you see the difference? Why are people excited about Dr. Paul? Ask questions and find the answers from the candidate itself, his actions, and his words. Takes time but it can be done.

    Listen, Learn, Understand, Educate.

Disclosure: I am not college age, never used drugs, son just came back from deployment. Not a “typical” Dr. Paul supporter…

  32. Wow. Three Paul delegates! Sproul did the job he was paid for, looks like, making snarky comments while doing it. Multitasking superhero, that guy.
