Prayers for our Troops

By now you’ve heard that the United States military lost 31 hero warrior patriots overnight.

I am in shock and deeply saddened.

At times like these, I want to respond with tremendous anger, blame and vengeance but I realize I have to reserve those emotions for later.

Instead, I know this is a time for prayer and mourning.

As the author of Ecclesiates so beautifully wrote in the 3rd Chapter:

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

Anger will surely follow but now is the time to pray for our military family and the families of our hero warrior patriots.

  1. God Bless our American Warriors. We will pray for their families.
We also need to be vigilant and consider that if that was an accident, a lucky shot, then our enemies certainly were in the right place at the right time. However, if they planned this, we need to seriously ask ourselves, how come it took us 10 years to get Bin Laden but it only took them a few weeks to retaliate against the very Americans that did the job. A very sad day for America either way, but if the US continues to look weakened we will have enourmous trouble ahead.
If there is an enemy attack at this time, our economy will suffer horribly and so will we.
May god bless the fallen, all our servicemen in harms way, and May God Bless the United States of America!

  2. Can we point out that the stated reason these SEALS were being sent out to urgent backup others who have been on the ground engaged in combat? There’s a lot of praying also needed for our troops who are still in battle.

  3. There is also a time to vote for an administration that knows how to fight to win, not drain down our troops and equipment in politically engineered attrition because the Democrats are too cowardly to state they won’t fight our enemies, but make callous political decisions to allow our troops to be worn down in order to horrify public opinion against the war.
The Democrats gave us the loss of Vietnam, a war in which our troops never lost a battle, the same cold minds are working on an Afghan loss, cutting funds, removing a successful leadership command, shortages for the troops.
Fat union pensions for non-working 55 year old retirees and way too much to spend before the fiscal year runs out funds for GSA to hang more pictures on government walls, and literally more millions more on lobster, huge parties and dances to keep Obama and all his friends entertained are more important than our troops deployed to fighting on-the-record-self-identified Anti-American enemies who have a record of atrocities like massacring little kids at schools?
    It’s a despicable political game.

We need to get out of Afghanistan. If the locals do not want to own their own fight, what good are we doing? We got Bin Laden. 10 years should be the lesson – Vietnam taught us that long fights don’t work well. Look at the successes we did have – WWII, even Korea – all much shorter.

As for fat union pensions comment by Wanumba … give me a break, Jackson, military members can retire at age 39 with 20 years service and start drawing a pension. Less than 20% of the military every sees combat, so that means a desk jockey could leave at 39. Last time I checked, no “union” in the military.

My cousin is a firefighter. In he’s 47. He has had both knees replaced – both due to on the job work. He has worked out diligently for years and stayed in shape. Tell me why he is supposed to last out?
Did you know that Federal law enforcement officers have mandatory retirement at 57 – largely due to physical reaons?

I am tired of the lack of intelligence in the so-called “far right.” It is overt prejudice and most prejudice is fear, bigotry or just plain failed to do the homework.

My cousin tells me that his own firefighters union knows that more than half of their members are registered Republicans and alot of them NRA members. If that’s correct, you should be courting them for votes, not kicking them in the crotch because they work their ass off protecting your sorry ass.

    • Well, now. The union leadership has lots better pensions and bennies than the rank and file, and they are the ones steering mandatory extracted union dues of Republicans and Independents and Libertarian members directly to the Democrat Party. Save your self-righteousness for those greedy politically-connected fat cats, not me, I’m not taking other people’s money to use it against them, and hoo, I got more than one immediate family closer than “cousin” in both, fire/rescue AND military, who are as you put it “protecting your sorry ass” and would find your assessment of what I said to be uninformed, so for someone who without any basis except a prejudiced stereotype to go on, you don’t abide by what you claim you hold as important: refraining from name-calling and bigotry.

One may note that had our pension system been privatiized years ago, we wouldn’t be having all these problems of unfunded pensions- but Democrats would have NONE of it. They can’t get their cuts out of money that never goes their way, ain’t that right?

For someone so fast to snort a failure to do one’s homework, you hypocritically failed to do yours.
Since when has the battle for Afghanistan EVER been “local?” The American farm sector, especially the family farm operations was devastated because the Soviets invaded Afghanistan.
Hmm. For a place so far away, and for such a seemingly unrelated set of things, how was THAT possible? It was something a Democrat would do… and did.

Ronald Reagan recognized that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was one foreign sortie too far for the teetering Soviet economy, and gave Afghanistan just enough inputs to stress the Soviet economy to make it implode and collapse on itself, not explode.

The radical Islamic government of Sudan based in Khartoum, offered up Osama Bin Laden, the charismatic leader of the Al Qaeda terror network, which had been conducting increasingly deadly attacks against Americans, and who had publically issued a statement that Al-Qaeda was at “war” with the USA, to Democrat POTUS Bill Clinton who DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, so Bin Laden was able to FLEE to Afghanistan to set up his Al Qaeda base there, to oversee the massive 9/11 deadly attack against America on US soil…a LONG way from AFGHANISTAN, and not AT ALL an “Afghan local” affair. Afghans would wonder what sort of failure of doing one’s homework would call a Saudi Arabian citizen with his Saudi and Gulf oil Al-Qaeda foreigners and money “Afghan.”

The mission in Afghanistan has from DAY ONE been against a convergence of violent FOREIGNERS using Afghanistan as a base for their operations against other countries, by name one TARGET is the United States, and other governments because destroyed Afghanistan wasn’t strong enough to get rid of these invaders by themselves.

What an uninformed statement to claim Afghanistan is a “local problem” when AFghans were being held hostage by foreigners inside their own country.

It has always been in the USA’s national interest to have Afghanistan in our control than anyone else’s and just because the sleazy media refuses to show all the great work that has been accomplished there in schools, clean water, clinics and all sorts of new infrastructure development that has benefitted the average Afghan, thanks to our military, doesn’t mean all that improvements don’t exist. The media lies by omitting and ignoring what they could be showing. They don’t want to “inform” public opinion, they want to “influence” public opinion.

But it’s all there to be found, IF one truly values being “informed” and “fair.”

  5. Conservative Guy says:

Hopefully we never forget that behind each one of these stories there are spouses, children, parents and many others to whom this is more than just news. With how frequently we hear of casualties I sometimes feel calloused about it all. This is a true tragedy and my prayers are with those who were lost and their loved ones as well as those still fighting.

  6. There is a very touching story about one of the Seals, and can be found on theblaze.com.

  7. Alan Soelberg says:

Prayers going out to these heroes’ families. Sad, sad, deal. Puts our day in/day out concerns into perspective real fast.

  8. One of the worst things Americans can do is belittle the stern and brave and selfless work our SEALS and soldiers of all branches are accomplishing in Afghanistan by implying their deaths are in vain, that’s it some inexplicable “local” squabble. Our fighting troops have educated themselves to understand why we are there and who the enemy is, why aren’t Americans who are comfortable and safe not doing the same for them, making an effort to comprehend what our soldiers understand instead of passively allowing Obama and the Democrats to cut cut cut cut military budget support, exposing our troops to more risk with less material ability to respond?
