The Case for Marriage

The Case for Marriage

Throughout July, we’ve featured a series of posts on the Foundations blog titled, “Why Protect Marriage.” Here’s a recap of the posts:

Dale Schowengerdt went on Tom Brown’s new show on KPXQ, Koinonia, to discuss his post. Listen to it here and be sure to follow our blog for more in this series.

Now is not a time to grow weary or discouraged. Don’t listen to media reports or predictions from others that same sex “marriage” in New York means the debate is over. Now is the time to redouble our prayers and efforts to stand for marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

More Fallout from “Obamacare”

This week, the Department of Health and Human Services announced the latest from the nationalization of health care the federal government will force virtually every employer to pay for emergency contraception in their employee healthcare plan. Emergency contraception can work to cause an abortion.

Along with the dangers this poses for the preborn and women, this mandate has severe implications for the rights of conscience of business owners. National Review Online writes about this decision will mean for you and me here, The Misguided Birth-Control Crusade Continues. The Heritage Foundation also provides some good insight in this article, HHS’s New Health Guidelines Trample on Conscience.

It’s That Time Once Again

Early voting has begun in four key Arizona city elections. These elections often are decided by less than 20% of the electorate. Values voters have a unique opportunity to impact city leadership by voting!

CAP’s Voter Guide website, azvoterguide.com, features survey results from Phoenix, Tucson, and Prescott. Be sure to check it out before you vote. If your town isn’t holding elections, you can still make a difference by making sure your friends and family are informed and turn out to vote.

If a candidate hasn’t responded, we’ve provided their email address and phone number so you can contact the candidate directly and ask them to answer the survey. You can also contact them on Facebook and Twitter. We’ve compiled a list of their usernames for your convenience.  Yuma friends – note that no candidate for your city has responded!

The Ongoing Court Battles with Planned Parenthood

CAP continues to closely monitors two cases filed by Planned Parenthood challenging CAP-supported pro-life laws. On the Foundations blog, I posted two resources that explain our ongoing fight to enact key aspects of the Abortion Consent Act and abortion clinic regulations.

New Poll: Who Will You Vote For in the Arizona US Senate GOP Primary?

Sonoran Alliance just posted a new online poll which we would like to have your participation.

This week, we’re asking who you will vote for in the GOP Primary race for US Senate.

Candidates include, Congressman Jeff Flake, Businessman Wil Cardon, Businessman Doug McKee or someone completely different.

We will leave this poll open for one week and close it next Friday.

Please be sure to share with your networks!

Jennifer Wright Clobbers Competitors in Sonoran Alliance Phoenix Mayor’s Race Online Poll!

Last Saturday, Sonoran Alliance posted a new online poll asking our readers who they would vote for as the next Mayor of Phoenix. Those results are in and the winner is…

Jennifer Wright!

Here is a screenshot of the poll results after a week of voting. (click on image for actual size.)

As you can see, Wright was able to outpace all her competitors winning 54% of the vote. If these were actual results, the Phoenix Mayor’s race would be over since any candidate winning 50% + 1 of the votes does not head to a run-off election.

So we congratulate Jennifer Wright on her online poll victory and watch and wait as the real votes add up.

And other candidates, please continue to send your press releases to sonoranalliance@gmail.com if you want to get your word out.

Wil Cardon: The Wil To Change Washington

Here is the latest information straight from the website of Wil Cardon:

The American dream and our economic future are at risk and the policies of Barack Obama and Congress are to blame.

I have watched the politicians in Washington sink our country deeper into debt, causing high unemployment and economic despair for Arizonans.

Congress’s latest debt-ceiling cave into Obama’s reckless spending policies plays into his hands and opens the door to higher taxes while pushing a majority of the spending cuts deep into the future.

To save our country’s economy and the conservative values we cherish, we must change Washington. It is time for those outside the political establishment, with experience creating jobs in the private sector, to go to Washington and clean up the credit card economy politicians have given us.

I’m a conservative, a successful businessman, and a jobs creator. Nearly a century ago my family started out running gas stations across Arizona.

Today that company, which I run, invests in businesses and communities creating hundreds of jobs.

I am a principled conservative – first and always. I oppose higher taxes and support cutting spending and I support a balanced budget amendment. On illegal immigration I want to first secure our border, I oppose amnesty and I strongly support SB1070.

My wife Nicole and I have five wonderful children and we are proudly pro-life, pro-traditional marriage and pro-family.

Arizonans deserve a Senator who is conservative, a jobs creator and an outsider who will not view public service as a career.

I will be that Senator and that is why I am running.

Wil Cardon Makes Arizona Senate Run Official

It looks like the contemplation phase is over. Wil R. Cardon, President and CEO of the Cardon Group, a real estate investment firm, has decided to make his bid for Jon Kyl’s Senate seat official.

Cardon’s primary opponent will be U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake, who has already had a strong fundraising quarter and appears to be in a strong political position for the race.

“No one will outspend me or outwork me in this campaign,” says Cardon of his campaign for U.S. Senate. This might be true but Cardon will have a difficult road to victory….

Democrat Pete Rios in trouble with the law again

Well, this isn’t the first time longtime Democrat and Pinal County Supervisor Pete Rios has been belligerent.
