Rep. Quayle Praises Passage of the Cut, Cap and Balance Act

WASHINGTON (D.C.) Congressman Ben Quayle (R-AZ) released the following statement Tuesday after the House passed the Cut, Cap and Balance Act of 2012. Rep. Quayle was a cosponsor of the bill which passed 234 to 190.

“Last Friday, President Obama said ‘we don’t need a constitutional amendment to do our jobs.’ Given his record on spending, including the staggering $3.7 trillion added to the national debt since he took office, it should come as no surprise that he is unwilling to take serious measures to control government spending.

“President Obama has stated that he will veto the Cut, Cap and Balance Act which is the only plan that reins in our debt while also paying for our past debt obligations. Once again, the president is leading from behind on an issue of grave national importance. He has not offered a single plan during this process—only speeches and sound bites that distort reality and obfuscate the issues. Today, the Republican House has again taken the lead to get our fiscal house in order. The Cut, Cap and Balance Act provides the reform we need so future generations inherit a more prosperous America.”

  1. Thank You Congressman Quayle!

  2. Oberserve says:

Did no one catch the fact that the debt increase can PASS even if the balanced budget amendment does NOT?

In other words, there is no guarantee of a balanced budget amendment, meanwhile Republicans are agreeing to a MASSIVE DEBT INCREASE.

    Not acceptable!

FURTHER CUTS TO SPENDING NEED TO BE MADE

  3. Trig Johnston says:

Well, I guess they just don’t get it. Raising the debt ceiling means they will spend the increase. I had high hopes for our new guys last election. Time for another purging next November.

  4. ObserverWatch says:

    Observer.
You’ve got it 100% wrong. The reason conservatives backed this is precisely because of the trigger.
    Cut spending.
    Cap spending.
    Pass a balanced budget amendment.

Arizona knows better than to pay any attention to your foolish rants.

    • Oberserve says:

      HELLO

There’s no guarantee of a balanced budget amendment.

In other words, they are voting for a MASSIVE DEBT INCREASE (and spending increase) and NOT voting on a balanced budget amendment.

They are HOPING that there will be a balanced budget amendment at a later time – which there will never be and they know it.

In other words, the vote was for a massive increase in the size of government under political cover of SAYING there will be a balanced budget MAYBE sometime in the future.

      Nice try though!

WASHINGTON (D.C.) Congressbro Brock Landers (R-AZ) released the following statement Tuesday after the House passed one more in a series of useless, purely symbolic legislative pacifiers. Rep. Quayle was proud to cosponsor this frivolous waste of time, which passed 234 to 190.

“Its real cool to be in the Senate, Bro. I get to vote on things without fear of the consequences that might come were it to actually go into effect. Given President Obama’s record on spending, it should be come as no surprised that he hasn’t taken serious action the way we have – passing a bill that we knew would never go through the Senate. Can you excuse me? My other government bro’s are all clustered in the restroom and there’s a line of coke with my name on it.”

Upon his return, Landers was even more enthusiastic: “President Obama has stated that he will veto the Cut, Cap and Balance Act which is the only plan that reins in our debt while also paying for our past debt obligations, but WE PASSED IT ANYWAY, BROSEPH!! I mean, we didn’t just pass it, I’m saying we freakin’ PASSED IT!! WOOOOO HOOOOO!!! GO BLUE DEVILS!! Hey, man….hey!! Have you ever thought about how the world is gonna end?? I mean, like, you know, like, how this whole…this whole huge THING is going to end? *SNIIIIIIFFFFF* OOOOOOOOH that is good stuff. Anyway, so yeah, airplanes. I was talking about airplanes, right? I have an idea for an airplane with wings that actually flap. ”
