   Scruggs and thugs will now pay to keep Bechtel Corp. in Glendale

   Glendale will pay to keep the company and its more than 300 employees. First it will cost about $570,000 for some tenant improvements on a 72,000-square-foot three-story building off Loop 101 between Camelback and Bethany Home roads.

   The city also will pay Bechtel for hiring and keeping high-wage workers over the six years that it will remain in Glendale. The company must meet certain criteria to receive the money, including adding jobs with an annual salary of more than $50,000 and having at least 320 employees on average over the next six years
