Arizona Education Association advocating for Wisconsin public employees

With all the debate and discussion taking place over public employee protests in Wisconsin, I thought I’d take a look at the Arizona Education Association website to see what the teachers’ union in Arizona thought about the situation in Wisconsin.

Here is what you get when you go to their website:

Now correct me if I’m wrong but I was under the impression that part of the AEA’s mission was “to make Arizona’s public schools the best they can be.”

So I guess my question is why is the Arizona Education Association advocating and supporting the Wisconsin Education Association Council using Arizona resources?

  1. ADD this to the mix:

ASRS (Arizona State Retirement System) employees considering class action against Arizona State)

I RECEIVED THIS VIA EMAIL ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AND AGAIN THIS PAST WEEKEND

    >>>>>

Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) participants numbering in excess of 320,000, consider filing class action law suit(s) against any and all Arizona State Representatives and or the State of Arizona.

Portions of pending legislation to change the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), within the current Arizona State 50th Legislature, 1st Regular Session, violates participating employees Conditions of Employment set forth by their Implied Employee Contract(s) as established upon hire.

It’s suggested that State Legislators take a closer look and consider their Vicarious Liability in respect to past legislation, that compromised the whole ASRS by giving what appears to be preferential treatment to select members and small entities’.

It is not the Legislators to sit in judgment of their doing and punish the majority for mistake they made on behalf of a small minority.

The basis of the suit will include and is not limited to the following: prior Arizona State Legislation sessions that included current members that enacted ASRS Legislation that put the plan in jeopardy.

Don’t know if it true or not.

The Columbus Dispatch has a great editorial this morning on the union fight in Ohio: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/editorials/stories/2011/02/23/false-claim.html

  3. Yes, this raosed eyebrows. Guess the money isn’t being used to promote Arizona education at all.
