David Schweikert Ignores 65 Percent of CD5 Voters

Dear CD 5 voter,

In a sweeping example of arrogance that has characterized his latest and third  Congressional campaign, David Schweikert told the Arizona Capitol Times that the Vote Jim Wardprimary election is “essentially over” in Congressional District 5, ignoring roughly 65% of the citizens in the district who have yet to cast their votes.

As you may remember, David Schweikert has lost in CD5 twice before and lost last cycle to Harry Mitchell by a twenty point swing.  He bases his claim on having  an “insurmountable lead” in the race. Obviously, he is using this as an excuse for his sudden reduction in his campaign expenditures.

I find it stunning and insulting that David would effectively tell so many of you who haven’t yet cast your ballot that your vote doesn’t matter.

This is a good indicator of how poorly Daivd Schweikert listens to constituents, and a good indicator that he realizes he’s headed for his third straight loss in this district.

Your votes matter to me and to the district as a whole and I would be honored to have your support. I promise to be attentive to your concerns and to work to restore America to the greatness it once had.  Please remember to cast your ballot whether you vote by mail or at your polling place on August 24.

Sincerely,

Jim Ward

Once Again Thomas Lies About Investigations

After the release of grand jury records revealing Andy Thomas had purposely mislead the public for his own personal and political gain, often referring to an ongoing investigation that had long since been  thrown out, you would think he would learn a lesson.  Or maybe when other County Attorney’s told him..you’ve got no case, buddy…he would stop.  But, no.  He lied and attempted to keep it going while he shopped for someone to prosecute what he perceived as his political enemies.

All in the name of the law.

But, it is very clear that the law means nothing to Mr. Thomas and the truth even less.

Today the Thomas campaign issued a press release, you can see it in the post below, saying the ACC was investigating Tom Horne.  If you read the letter they use as the evidence, it is nowhere near a statement of investigation.  It is nothing more than a reply to a letter of complaint they received from Thomas’ campaign.

There is no investigation. Thomas’ claims are not true says the Arizona Corporation Commission.  Not at all.

But, never one to let the truth get in the way of a good press release…Thomas ran with it and once again, lied.

It’s actually not accurate,” commission spokesman Rebecca Wilder said of the Thomas press release. “We received a complaint. We’re not conducting an investigation at this time.”

So will Andy retract his statement…of course not.  He will continue to spread his version of the truth.  After all, isn’t that all that matters?

Thomas however is under investigation;  reportedly by the State Bar and the FBI over abuse of power allegations related to his pursuit of criminal charges against county judges, supervisors and top administrators.

Either the law means something or it doesn’t.” Jason Rose….

Unless you are Andrew Thomas.

Tom Horne Bankruptcy Fraud Sparks AZ Corp. Commission Investigation

Arizona Corporation Commission Launches Investigation Of Tom Horne; Failure ToDisclose Bankruptcy On Key Corporate Records

Daily Star Details Other Problems For Horne; Hiring of Confessed Embezzler At DOE

PHOENIX, ARIZONA.  AUGUST 16, 2010.  Late Friday the Arizona Corporation Commission confirmed in a letter that it has launched an investigation into Attorney General candidate Tom Horne.  Horne failed to disclose his bankruptcy on numerous records, stemming from a life-time ban from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for defrauding investors.

The letter can be viewed here.  If found guilty, and Horne has already admitted his failure to disclose the bankruptcies as required by Arizona law, it would be a felony, prohibiting his further service as State Superintendent of Public Instruction or Attorney General.

That’s not the only trouble Horne faces.  The Arizona Daily Star reported Saturday on Horne’s hiring, and strange defense, of a confessed embezzler – Donald Houde – that he has put in charge of some of the Arizona Department of Education’s most sensitive records.  The article can be read here.

Law enforcement leaders supporting Thomas are:  Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Yavapai County Sheriff Steve Waugh, Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan, Graham County Sheriff P.J. Allred,Mohave County Attorney Matt Smith, Peoria Police Officers Association, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association and Arizona Police Association.

Former Arizona Attorney General and NRA President Bob Corbin has also weighed in to support Thomas, as has the NRA itself.  Other conservative leaders such as U.S. Congressman Trent Franks and former Congressman and anti-illegal immigration hawk Tom Tancredohave endorsed Thomas too.  Tancredo even withdrew his endorsement of Tom Horne to support Thomas.  Arizona Right to Life supports Thomas as well, who has repeatedly criticized Horne for his support of taxpayer-funded abortion policies while in the State Legislature.

During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time.  The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.

Thomas has a track record of successfully defending illegal immigration crackdowns in our courts, including his successful efforts to prosecute illegal immigrants for conspiring to violate the state’s human-smuggling law and to defend Prop 200′s voter ID requirements and the employer-sanctions law, which he defended along with the Attorney General’s Office.

If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office’s prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state’s human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.

Thomas is married with four children.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.  Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.

Why and how John McCain could lose the General Election

Earlier this year, I asserted that Democrats would have a tough time winning in any General Election in 2010. I’m not so sure that will be the case if John McCain wins the Primary Election on August 24th.

Throughout the Republican Primary in Arizona, John McCain has had willing accomplices in the local media. Every step of the way, local and national reporters have given him a free pass having virtually ignored his sudden changes in positions nor questioning his motives for such newly adopted positions. At times, it even appears as if both Dan Nowicki of the Arizona Republic and James King of the Phoenix New Times have been in competition over who might succeed as McCain’s next press secretary. Each “reporter” has had a direct pipeline to McCain’s Director of Communications, Brian Rogers who once served as the Director of Research for Al Gore’s Climate Initiative Project.

Even more disturbing has been the media’s profound and overt bias against JD Hayworth. Every assertion and attack by Team McCain against JD Hayworth has remained unquestioned and assumed true.

Despite the media’s apparent “love affair” with John McCain, their may be a more sinister motive at play after the Primary Election. Could media coverage of the Republican Primary actually be part of an underhanded effort to nominate McCain because he will be a weakened and more vulnerable candidate against the Democratic nominee in the General Election?

Before you rule out this hypothesis, consider the factors at play.

Over John McCain’s entire 28 years of service, Democrats have far more damning evidence available and at their disposal to be used in a General Election. One only needs to review the many websites and blogs Democrats created in 2007-2008 archiving and detailing John McCain’s long history of gaffes, unflattering video and now flip-flops. The Democratic National Committee may even see another effort to defeat John McCain as another top trophy on the wall.

Conservative Republicans and TEA Party members are furious with John McCain over his sudden untrustworthy “conservative conversion.” He is viewed as the Republican version of John Kerry with his endless list of election year flip-flops. There is also anger by fellow conservatives and Independent voters over his endless relentless attacks on fellow Republican JD Hayworth. It is very rare that an incumbent US Senator spends $20 Million against a challenger in a Primary Election. But what really infuriates conservatives is the fabrication of lies and the blatant name-calling by Senator John McCain. It was a shock to the conservative faithful when John McCain on television called JD Hayworth a “pig.” This will not be forgotten anytime before November 2nd.

If John McCain is renominated as the Republican candidate on August 24th, conservatives and TEA Party members will likely not vote for him. He has already lost his base of support with conservatives and Independent voters are turned off by his unstatesmanlike behavior.

And Democrats are hopeful just as they were in 2008, that John McCain will once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. He’s old, tired, uninspiring and they believe they may even be able to pull off another upset as Republicans will remain disgusted and divided over their nominee.

Conservative Republicans simply won’t care if John McCain wins or loses. They know what they’ll get in the end and there will be little differentiation between the Democrat and John McCain. And unfortunately, this time, John McCain won’t have Sarah Palin to bail him out.

John McCain is VITAL to Arizona and America

With the confidence of knowing he continues to fight the good fight, his devotion to service before self, and the overwhelming support he receives from Arizona voters…John McCain is the obvious choice to continue and represent Arizona in the US Senate.

Board of Supervisors joins Team Obama’s legal assault on Arizona

After Barack Obama took office his subordinates at the Justice Department wasted little time in launching a legal assault on Sheriff Joe Arpaio, announcing two probes in March 2009.

The grounds for the probes are highly questionable.  One of the investigations apparently centers around the complaint that Arpaio’s jails aren’t sufficiently friendly to non-English speaking criminals, almost all of whom are here illegaly.  The other investigation is looking into claims of racial profiling by Arpaio in conducting his saturation patrols that have been successful in rounding up illegal immigrants.  Of course, the people clamoring for that investigation are members of the open borders crowd.

After a year and half of these “investigations,” it’s clear that Team Obama has crapped out, producing nothing of substance.  So our left-wing Maricopa County Board of Supervisors comes to rescue, offering to use their subpoena powers under state law to give the feds materials that they have no right to.

Democrat lawyer Tom Irvine, who’s made a killing off of the boondoggle Court Tower project, and $175,000 a year board attorney Wade Swanson seem to be at the heart of this, writing a letter to the Obama Justice Department saying the Board would use its power to compel the Sheriff to turn over materials that the Justice Department can’t otherwise get.

As taxpayers we’re actually paying these lawyers to team up with Obama and Co. in their continuing attack on Arizona and the fight against illegal immigration.  And even worse is their argument for getting involved.  They claim that by aiding the Obama Administration in their attacks on Arpaio they will actually SAVE the taxpayers money.  That sounds like the famous Vietnam War era quote about having to destroy the village in order to save it.

Incredibly enough, the Board is always complaining that Arpaio abuses his power!  What do they call this end around the rule of law?

As unpopular as Barack Obama is in Arizona, with his lawsuit against the state over Senate Bill 1070, it’s hard to see the political wisdom of getting into bed with him.  It appears the Sups are blinded to political reality by their hatred of Joe Arpaio.

Bush’s Top Counter Terrorism Official Endorses Rich Davis for Arizona Senate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 15, 2010

The Honorable Juan Zarate, Deputy Assistant to the President for Counter Terrorism for George W. Bush, has endorsed Rich Davis for the Arizona State Senate.  Zarate said in a prepared statement, “I got to know and work with Rich Davis during his time at The White House when he served as the Director of Terrorism Prevention on the Homeland Security Council. In Rich Davis, the people of Arizona and the country have a recognized and committed leader on our most important national and homeland security issues. Rich understands the threats we face as a country – at our borders and beyond – and will do everything he can to keep Arizona and the country safe.”

In response to the endorsement, Rich Davis said “It is an honor to have the support of our former chief of counter terrorism who so ably led our country to many safe years.  The endorsement has significant meaning to me and I am grateful to Juan for his friendship and support.”

Border security remains a critical issue in Arizona and Davis’ expertise on the topic would be a tremendous asset to the State Legislature.  It is one of the reasons Davis has also been endorsed by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and State Senator Russell Pearce.

A Socialist by Any Other Name is Still a Socialist

Hopefully, many voters remember this little “slip of the tongue” by the ethically challenged Congresswoman Maxine Waters.  The voting record of many Dems has long left us with the idea that the imposition of socialism into our government was their purpose.  Now, we have evidence that it is more than just a philosophy.

The Socialist Party of America has released their list of members who also are members of Congress.   Arizona has 2 illustrious members on the list, the full document is 15 pages.  Here are a few of the highlights:

American Socialist Voter–
Q: How many members of the U.S. Congress are also members of the DSA?
A: Seventy

Q: How many of the DSA members sit on the Judiciary Committee?
A: Eleven: John Conyers [Chairman of the Judiciary Committee], Tammy Baldwin, Jerrold Nadler, Luis Gutierrez,
Melvin Watt, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, Barbara Lee, Robert Wexler, Linda Sanchez [there are 23 Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of which eleven, almost half, are now members of the DSA].

Q: Who are these members of 111th Congress?
A: See the listing below

Co-Chairs
Hon. Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07)
Hon. Lynn Woolsey (CA-06

YEP!  Our very own “Boycott Arizona” Raul Grijalva is an avowed Socialist!

Under the long list of D’s I also found this name

House Members
Hon. Eleanor Holmes-Norton (DC-AL)
Hon. John Olver (MA-01)
Hon. Ed Pastor (AZ-04)
Hon. Donald Payne (NJ-10)
Hon. Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
Hon. Charles Rangel (NY-15)

The voters in CD-7 and CD-4 should know…you are not voting for Democrat but a Socialist!

All of Arizona should know this.

POP QUIZ KIDDIES…

Is this Governor Brewer rewarding Konopnicki and McCain for their single handed economic stimulus of Arizona’s economy this campaign season?  McCain tops $20 million spent while Konopnicki tops $110,000 for a $24,000/yr State Senate seat.

Is this a photo of Arizona’s Border Hawks standing strong on Comprehensive Immigration Reform?

Are these the true (Tea Party) conservatives who’ll roll back big government and reduce taxes?

Does this photo give Jeff Vath a warm tingle down his leg?

Does Jan Brewer really know what these guys represent?

Is this how John McCain rewards  the GOP Chairman (guy on the far right) who verbally harassed a senior woman voter into removing a JD Hayworth sign from her yard?  Guess he made up his own version of that story for the governor.

Or are these the Hero’s of the New Republican Party that will wrest power away from the Democrats come November and lead this county and state to a greater tomorrow??

We wish to thank the gentleman from Graham County on the far right for making this photo available.  Be sure to share this link with voters in Eastern Arizona.

When we nominate a RINO like John McCain for President, we get a disaster like Barack Obama

Let’s take a little trip down memory lane back to the 2008 Presidential Election. Here is a clip where John McCain told us that Barack Obama was a decent man and that we had nothing to fear from him.

YouTube Preview Image

Hmmm… Sounds as if John McCain was trying to defend another one of his “friends?” It may have even sounded like endorsement.

Fast forward to 2010 and our Constitutional Republic is on the verge of social and economic collapse and people are wondering how we got where we are.

The old “mavericky” John McCain tried to play nice and tell us we didn’t have to worry about Barack Obama. John McCain wouldn’t fight and the result is that we have one of the worse presidents in US history.

Meanwhile here in Arizona, John McCain, aka “Mr. Campaign Finance Reform,”  has  spent around $20 Million dollars attacking JD Hayworth. McCain even raided his 2008 Presidential fund in order to spend it on expensive Washington insider spinmeisters to create more attack ads!

Where was this John McCain in 2008?

Why didn’t he fight for us against Barack Obama back then?

Why did McCain treat Barack Obama better than fellow Republican JD Hayworth?

The honest reason why we have Barack Obama today is because of John McCain. If you want to blame someone for the direction of the country now, blame John McCain for not fighting in 2008.

When we nominate a RINO (Republican In Name Only) like John McCain, we get a disaster like Barack Obama.

Romley swipes funds from Arpaio’s immigration sweeps and creates new $130k “illegal immigration” job as payback to crony

Tribune exposes Romley’s fake police database campaign trick

Romley swipes funds from Arpaio’s immigration sweeps and creates new $130k “illegal immigration” job as payback to crony

Democrat-supporting County Attorney Rick Romley has only been in office a little over three months and the corruption has begun in full force. In yet another sleazy campaign move, he hoodwinked the East Valley Tribune into running a story about a fake idea. He tried to sell the idea to the Arizona Republic first, but they saw right through it and refused. Romley’s idea was setting up a joint Valleywide crime database that law enforcement would all have access to. He held a meeting on Tuesday with 70 law enforcement officers to discuss it. Sounds like a good idea, right? Only problem is the database already exists, was put together by others over the past eight years, includes 50 law enforcement and health officials Valleywide, and in fact is so advanced it is already being connected to large counties in California. Sheriff Arpaio’s office has been heavily involved with the project over the past eight years but were conveniently left out of the meeting. Romley merely held the meeting to gain credit with the public and press in his election campaign. When the Tribune reporter found this out, he wrote a second piece exposing Romley’s dishonesty.

Cmdr. Bob Rampy, who has led the AZLINK effort and does a lot of the sheriff’s IT work, said, “I’m concerned he’s (Romley) is coming around and taking credit for what has already been done.” Rampy said he was not invited to Tuesday’s meeting. “AZLINK has really been widespread. He should’ve done a little more due diligence on data sharing efforts going on.”

Leesa Morrison-Weisz and her husband George Weisz

Romley also pulled a fast one by taking away funds from Sheriff Arpaio’s illegal immigration sweeps and transferring them to his own office, where he created a fake new position for a supporter of his. The job title is “Special Assistant for Immigration and Border Protection,” but since Romley supports amnesty and open borders, and the person he chose to fill that position, Leesa Morrison-Weisz, came from former Governer Janet Napolitano’s administration, you can rest assured that it will be a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and there will be no actual illegal immigration enforcement. The circumstances surrounding Morrison’s appointment are typical sleazy quid pro quo. Morrison’s husband, George Weisz, was working as an advisor for Democrat Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon. He quit that job to become a political consultant for Romley’s election campaign. Two days later, his wife was appointed to this brand-new position. How nice, you go work for Romley’s campaign and your wife gets a fat new job custom-created for her two days later! It probably also helped that the Weisz’s have contributed to Romley, some of the County Supervisors’ campaigns, and attorneys who oppose Sheriff Arpaio.

Rick Romley is demonstrating after just a few months that he intends to run the County Attorney’s Office equally as corruptly as the Supervisors are running their office. We wonder what will happen to the Shadow County Attorney’s Office now that it’s in the middle of these two corrupt agencies, which the Supervisors stole away from Andrew Thomas when he was County Attorney?

I couldn’t have said it better…

I have been reading Espresso Pundit for years.  I usually agree with Greg on most subjects and find his wit and style interesting.  He is front and center in the CD5 campaign, anyone who has read his blog for more than awhile knows he is squarely behind Schweikert.   A CPA, he is also an attorney and dude, until recently did not have a TV in his house!

He doesn’t pull any punches. Greg has taken on APS, The Republic, and now he has a new object of his effort.

Sometimes you just have to give credit where credit is due, Greg Patterson who writes Espresso Pundit,  nails the reality of Andy Thomas in his latest post on the subject…

With such flagrant and well documented ethical violations, I don’t see how Thomas could possibly still be a licensed attorney this time next year.

This is the reality most have come to believe.  The evidence pointing to extreme abuse of power and corruption is so overwhelming, that to suggest Thomas will escape this without, at the minimum, being disbarred is foolish.  The odds he may very well be sitting in Camp Cupcake very soon are pretty good.  Disappointing.

So, what is a conservative to do?  Patterson had this to say about Tom Horne:

…he supported parental consent as well as the ban on partial birth abortion–and he has pledged to defend the laws that the legislature passes.

So I can say that from a Conservative perspective, I’m not simply voting against Thomas.  I’m very comfortable voting for Tom Horne.

However, there is another point that has been made by more than a few very conservative folks.  When faced with the idea of having an AG who is likely to be indicted, disbarred, and tied up in personal fights of corruption…

And if Horne doesn’t win the Primary…?  Ok, then I’ll simply be voting against Thomas.

A growing number of R’s will not pull the lever for Thomas.  No D’s will.  Certainly a good portion of I’s will go with the Democratic nominee.  In light of these latest developments, Andrew Thomas should immediately step aside, get his house in order, fight his good fight and when, or if, he can… return to public service.  For now, he is doing more harm than good.

Experienced line prosecutor under Andrew Thomas fires back against corrupt County Supervisors

Corrupt County Supervisors and RINO Rick Romley target nonpolitical line prosecutor in order to tarnish Andrew Thomas

Lisa Aubuchon, an experienced career prosecutor, one of the top prosecutors in the office, has had enough of their abuse

As part of their desperate attempts to avoid prosecution, the Maricopa County Supervisors have appointed their crony, liberal Republican Rick Romley (who has endorsed numerous Democrats – even Jan Brewer’s last Democrat opponent) as interim County Attorney. As the Supervisors’ puppet, Romley is doing the bidding of the Supervisors which means destroying conservative Republicans like Thomas and Sheriff Arpaio – including FIRING a lifelong experienced, nonpolitical line prosecutor, Lisa Aubuchon. Aubuchon had worked her way up to management at the County Attorney’s Office under multiple administrations, and had a reputation for being extremely tough on crime – even on domestic violence, not exactly a conservative issue. Lisa is no partisan political figure – she is a regular person like you or me. The Supervisors are trying to destroy her in order to destroy Andrew Thomas.  Lisa is fighting back with a claim of her own against the corrupt Supervisors. Let’s hope she wins – and the corruption is stopped. Read her complaint against the corrupt big-spending Supervisors here.

Arizona’s very own “Bridge to Nowhere” over nothing.

While in Congress, JD Hayworth sent out a press release bragging about his ability to bring home the bacon!  And boy did he…to the tune of over $445,000,000. Yep, that is millions.  This must have been before “the scales were removed from his eyes” allowing him to see the true effects of wasteful Washington spending and to become a consistent conservative.

Hayworth District’s Transportation Priorities Big Winners In Latest

Authorization Bill

Congressman Steers ‘Earmarked’ Funds Back Home To AZ

  • $3.2 million project from 40th Street to Baseline in Maricopa County; for the design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of an I-10 widening
  • $2.4 million for the design and construction of the Rio Salado Pedestrian Bridge in Tempe;
  • $2.09 million the new ASU Scottsdale Center for New Technology and Innovation at the intersection of Scottsdale and McDowell roads; to plan design and construct a transit passenger center in Scottsdale to serve
  • $5.4 million over four years to construct the East Valley Metro Bus facility in Tempe; and
  • $434.4 million through 2009 for the Central Phoenix/East Valley Light Rail Transit Project

Among the pork” projects…a bridge to go over the now dry Tempe Town Lake:

The Town Lake Pedestrian Bridge will connect existing bike and pedestrian paths on the north and south sides of Tempe Town Lake, allowing those who continue on the north bank to access the Indian Bend Wash without having to interface with motor vehicles. Those who cross from north to south will be able to link with the Mill Avenue District. This bridge will create a much safer transportation route for runners, walkers, bicyclists and those who use wheelchairs.” (City of Tempe Website, www.tempe.gov, Accessed 5/6/10)

After funds for the bridge were approved in the 2005 Transportation Reauthorization Bill, “The Bridge” was derided as wasteful pork barrel spending, and even compared to the infamous “Bridge To Nowhere”.  It got plenty of attention, not so good attention.

The Arizona Republic’s Robert Robb Asked, “Why, Pray Tell, Is It A Federal Responsibility To Build … A Footbridge To Connect Trails Across The Western Bank Of Tempe Town Lake?” “There’s a tradition of pointing to the earmarks in other states as pork. But the real issue isn’t pork. It’s the federal government doing something that should be a state or local responsibility. And you don’t have to look beyond the borders of Arizona for a multitude of examples. Why, pray tell, is it a federal responsibility to build a bicycle-pedestrian bridge at McDowell Road and 35th Avenue in Phoenix, or a footbridge to connect trails across the western bank of Tempe Town Lake?” (Robert Robb, “Republicans Snap Open Taxpayer Wallets Again,” The Arizona Republic, 8/5/05)

In 2008, The East Valley Tribune Editorialized That …Tempe Should Reject Federal Funding For The Bridge, Comparing It To The Infamous “Bridge To Nowhere” In Alaska. “Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is now well-known for having once supported what has been called the ‘bridge to nowhere,’ a $400 million proposal for a structure that, if Congress had funded it, would have given about 50 Alaskans on one island road access to a more populated one that is currently reached by a short ferry ride. In the face of this, Tempe city officials might be persuaded to do, regarding a bridge of their own, a similar about-face to the one the Republican vice-presidential nominee did.” (Editorial, “Tempe Should Take A Pass On Bridge Funds,” East Valley Tribune, 9/14/08

The East Valley Tribune’s Le Templar Pointed Out That While The “Bridge To Nowhere” Was Costlier Than The Tempe Bridge, “The Principle Is The Same.” “The Tribune Editorial Board noted today an interesting parallel between the Alaskan issue and a proposed pedestrian bridge over Tempe Town Lake that will be funded mostly from federal dollars set aside in highway funding bills. The scale of the two projects certainly were different ($400 million for the Ketchikan bridge vs. $5.7 million for the Tempe bridge). But the principle is the same, isn’t it?” (Le Templar, “Will Hallman Say ‘No Thanks’ To Tempe Bridge?,” East Valley Tribune (Blog), 9/15/08)

  • Templar Noted That While Republican J.D. Hayworth “Was The Bridge’s Primary Champion,” The Bridge Represented The Kind Of “Pork-Barrel Spending” That Another Republican, John McCain, Railed Against. “Still, Arizona Sen. John McCain has built his campaign for president, in part, on his absolute refusal to seek pork-barrel spending that the Tempe bridge seems to represent. (Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, R-Ariz., was the bridge’s primary champion.)” (Le Templar, “Will Hallman Say ‘No Thanks’ To Tempe Bridge?,” East Valley Tribune (Blog), 9/15/08)

Grassroots Interviews with LD 6 House Candidate Steve Kaiser

Last night on Grassroots Interviews I interviewed LD 6 House candidate Steve Kaiser. He has a pretty crowded race including two incumbents. I wish him luck!

Interview with Steven Kaiser

Why I support JD Hayworth and oppose John McCain

By Keith Lajoie

When we elect JD Hayworth we know we will get a man who votes like he campaigns. John McCain time and time again campaigns as a conservative, and then legislates with the liberals in the Senate Lieberman, Feingold, Kennedy, etc. JD has made his mistakes as we all have. There can be no perfect candidate, as to be imperfect is to be human. I will have disagreements with every candidate, unless I am said candidate. McCain boasts of his maverick status and bucking his party. When he bucked his party he thumbed his nose in the eye of conservatives. JD’s greatest moment in bucking his party was opposing the amnesty by another name bill pushed by McCain, Bush, and Kennedy. By doing this he supported the conservative base of the GOP. In the rare instances JD’s actions have come into question, they were largely of a personal nature and not a gross violation or misrepresentation of the public trust while serving in congress. Where as many of McCain’s actions have harmed the country and the Conservative movement. As a private citizen JD made an ill-advised infomercial. As a public servant John McCain has made these mistakes in recent history that harmed the Conservative Agenda, harmed his Maverick brand, and proves he cannot be trusted with another six years in the Senate:

1. After losing the Presidential nomination to President Bush, John McCain flirted with leaving the Republican Party.

The next morning, the Washington Post dropped a front-page bombshell: “McCain is considering leaving GOP; Arizona senator might launch a third-party challenge to Bush in 2004.” (Arizona Republic)

2. John McCain proudly voted against the Bush tax cuts of 01 and 03 that JD helped write.

3. In 2004 John McCain entertained the idea of being John Kerry’s running mate.

“John Kerry is a close friend of mine. We have been friends for years,” McCain said Wednesday when pressed to squelch speculation about a Kerry-McCain ticket. “Obviously I would entertain it.” (USA Today)

4. John McCain worked with liberal Russ Feingold to pass the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform.

5. Not once but twice John McCain worked to push Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which is amnesty by another name

6. John McCain stopped many conservative judicial nominees like Miguel Estrada from making the federal bench by starting the, “Gang of 14

7. John McCain refused to bring up Obama’s pastor of 20 years Reverend Wright (YouTube)

8. After Ronald Wilson Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, George Walker Bush; John Sidney McCain refused to utter Barack Hussein Obama.

9. McCain considered Joe Lieberman to be his 2008 VP running mate (Wall Street Journal Blog)

10. John McCain worked with Joe Lieberman to author a Cap and Trade bill in 2009

I could go on and on how McCain is not a conservative and cannot be trusted with another six years in the Senate.

JD Hayworth spent 12 years in the House. He did not spend those 12 years enriching himself. He worked those 12 years working for Arizonan and American tax payers. He fought to secure our border and cut our taxes. After returning to private life he spent the next several years holding a constant town hall with AZ voters on KFYI. I and many voters encouraged JD to enter this race. He answered our call and took on a political giant. JD will do everything he can to oppose the Obama agenda, and not pay lip service to conservatives as John McCain has for the past decade. We asked JD to run and we must support him in the upcoming primary. He may have his faults, but not one can equal the 10 faults of McCain I outlined above. Well, when a candidate becomes the laughing stock of the nation, it’s very unlikely that they will prove successful in their campaign. The sad fact is that if Ben Quayle is the Republican nominee for Congress, our party WILL lose the seat to the Democrat in November.

This is a seat which should be solidly Republican, and even staunch conservatives (like our own Espressopundit) predict a Quayle nomination will equal a Democrat takeover of this seat.

Our shared goal is to put Republicans in control of the House of Representatives. We cannot jeopardize that by giving the Democrats an easy target in Ben “Brock Landers” Quayle.
