A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY: OBAMA SLIMES ARIZONA TO THE U.N., ARIZONA’S ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES SILENT

Note to : Senator McCain (R) and Senator Kyl (R) and ALL AZ Congressional Representatives (R) and (D) to Congress:

“Arizona Governor Jan Brewer angrily demanded yesterday that the White House withdraw their report to the UN Human Rights Council that singled out Arizona’s law as a cause for concern about the American track record on human rights. Calling such a reference “downright offensive” in her letter to Hillary Clinton, Brewer also called the entire report “internationalism run amuck.”

 (Ed Morrissey: http://hotair.com/archives/2010/08/28/brewer-blasts-obama-over-submission-to-un-specifying-az-immigration-law/)

Every single citizen of Arizona has been smeared as racist, human rights abusers to the United Nations HRC by our current President, Barack Obama (D), through his appointee, Hillary Clinton (D) as Secretary of State. One cannot recall a single instance when a sovereign government has EVER issued a condemnation of its OWN people to the United Nations. The Obama Administration initiated the international smear by instructing the State Department through Hillary Clinton and her deputy to introduce Arizona as a human rights abuser to the Chinese a few months ago, “Brought it up early and often.” Not a peep from our elected representatives then, now Obama jacks this cynical campaign against Arizona to the United Nations.

This also follows a recent obnoxious scene when Nancy Pelosi (D) as Speaker of the House provided Congress as the venue for a pulpit and a tacit stamp of approval for Mexico’s President to spew falsehoods and outrageous complaints against lawful Arizona state governing , and Arizona’s people. Before the entire nation, the Democratic Party literally applauded the whines of a foreigner against American citizens. Before the entire nation, Arizona’s elected representatives have been mute.

Arizona apparently has no representation in the Senate or in the House of Representatives. The silence is inexcusable. Our elected representatives should be in 100% in unison regardless of political party in public, and in unrelenting condemnation, and in demanding accountability on the Senate and House floors to protest the complete abuse of our national governance against the state of Arizona and the American citizens of Arizona they were elected to represent.

It goes far beyond Republican or Democrat, to the national integrity of our country, yet the elected officials Arizona has sent to represent this state in Congress are silent. There is no Congressional mobilization of the Constitutional checks and balances to control this executive branch abuse, thanks to the abandonment by our legislators of their sworn duties to the PEOPLE.

Governor Jan Brewer is a Republican. Where are her fellow Republican elected officials standing with her as she rightly objects to this unheard of act of the government in Washington DC going to an international body to pressure a U.S. State to accept a radical, corrosive and extra-legal domestic political agenda? Senator McCain, where are you? Senator Kyl where are you? Are you (R) busy defending the PEOPLE or (R)INO busy enabling the Democrats by co-drafting amnesty for favored status of foreigners who’ve broken our laws, over lawful citizens?

This is not only a national disgrace, a complete travesty, but a terrible abrogation of national sovereignty. We sure don’t hear any murmurs of concern about this coordinated Democratic Party disgusting action against a fellow Republican elected official who currently represents this state.

The United Nations Human Rights Committee has been considered a travesty of its own, usually stocked with the world’s worst human rights offenders on the planet: Cuba, with journalists starving to death in squalid Cuban jails, China which harvests organs from prisoners, Saudi Arabia which beheads religious apostates, amputates people’s hands for crimes like theft, and shelters slavery within its kingdom’s borders, all of which have prisoners who would literally give their right arms to be taken care of by Sheriff Joe Arpaio instead.

It’s been a bad joke and just got worse. The committee members know very well Arizona is paradise compared to what they and scores of other countries routinely dish out to their citizens. Not a single other country would tolerate for a nanosecond ANY illegals entering their own nations, but many are happy to play along with the Obama Administration’s little political maneuvering stunt and condemn Arizona anyway, so this takes bad theatre down to a lower level of basement decrepitude.

What happens next?  Will Arizonans be  subject to arrest while innocently traveling abroad?  Not likely?  How preposterous is the fact that the “”problem of Arizona” is now on the UNHRC’s agenda?  It’s ridiculous, but there it is, thanks to Obama. By forcing this issue into the United Nations, all sorts of consequences are now possible.  Will the ultimate cynical ploy be realized by a gloating and gleeful White House?  Governor Jan Brewer indicted as Sudan’s Bashir was for “crimes against humanity”?  President  Bashir presided over Darfur atrocities, Brewer presides over …  SB1070, which the Obama Administration evidently is arguing is on some sort of bizarro par with Bashir’s Darfur policies.  Our POTUS is destroying the protections ALL American citizens are entitled to as stated in the Constitution.  Yet, our representatives are AWOL.  Instead of standing up for us all, they are hiding from us.

as long as 60% say McCain is doing an A-Ok fine job – why should he waste his time by speaking up!

  4. todd says:

Wanumba doesn’t bother to actually cite what was stated the report, most likely because he hasn’t bothered to find out. Here is the section:

    95. A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined.

How exactly this smears every citizen in AZ as a racist or opens the door to UN observers seems hard to fathom.

  5. Michael Holliday says:

Send in the UN observers and see what happens in a state that has the right to keep and bear arms — and means it!

  6. ann says:

Obama is trying to say that although Arizona does not deny anyone basic human rights, the refusal to give citizen’s rights to illegal aliens should be designated a human rights violation.

We are in trouble. Those who voted for McCain need to look into the issue. If you remember, he has been and probably still is willing to give legal resident rights to illegal invaders of this country.

  7. Michael Holliday says:

How far will Arizona fall down John McCain’s amnesty-for-illegal-aliens rabbit hole?

  8. Michael Holliday says:

I will not vote for McCain unless he renounces “comprehensive immigration reform,” “regularization” & “amnesty.”

    Plain and simple.

I’ll vote for the next best candidate.

Let the chips fall where they may.

    ………….

Don’t worry, fathoming such things isn’t your forte, because you don’t know anything about the UN system and how it’s manipulated. This is domestic US business, not the business of the UN and Arizona’s “abuse ” is acting only to enforce reasonable federal laws that haven’t been enforced.

There is ZERO reason on ANY legitimate legal or Constitutional or INTERNATIONAL level to drag Arizona to the UN, especially the UNHRC unless the Obama ADministration on wants to make MORE TROUBLE for AZ and her state elected officials. They’ve sold SB1070 and Arizona as whole as a horrible, sordid tragic human rights abuse state – to justify complaining to the UNHRC which is supposed to be pressuring easing the suffering of starving journalists in Cuba, religious prisoners in CHina, the entire prisoner population of North Korea. Real problems and real abuse.
EVen UNHRC knows that Obama’s dumped a crockload, but it’s now in their grubby hands – human rights disasters CUBA and Saudi Arabia now got a chance to intone and suggest sanctions, observers or recommend the named persons be supoenaed to the Hague. Don’t think they won’t make trouble.

Don’t think that’s NOT what Obama ultimately wants? Why else is this in UNHRC?

This is TROUBLE, manufactured by OBAMA and the DEMOCRATS. “Cackling” will be the sound eminating from the WHite House if they get the UNHRC to collude in their intimidation of Arizona.

Arizona is being tried in the court of public opinion because Obama has no actual legal or Constitutional grounds to challenge SB1070. OBAMA as POTUS has a Consitutional DUTY to promote DOMESTIC tranquiliity. Boycotts, organizing protests, getting the media 24/7 to smear Arizona in every venue, and now dragging this to th UN is promoting domestic tranquillity?

WHERE ARE OUR REPRESENTATIVES? The Democrats as an entire political party are complicit. Now where is the GOP?

La Raza’s representative, John McDang & Co., are probably celebrating their pre-amnesty win, in 2001, a little early, up at John’s 50-room Sedona “cabin.”

You know, steak, lobster, shrimp, wine, women & song…

Human rights for all means the Bolshevik takeover of the US to them.

In other words, you’ve got 4 bedrooms in your house with two unused, well 2 new immigrant MS-13 gang-bangin’ American families from El Sal could be occupying those rooms, Dr. Zhivago style, so give ‘em up or the United Nations, Maobama and the Manchurian Candidate’s wife are coming to take them from you. Just like they kicked in the door to get Elian Gonzales and ship him back to the Cuban Gulag.

    Welcome to the NWO.

The first and last line of defense is you, Smith, and Wesson…

    And perhaps Winchester…

  11. Michael Holliday says:

Make that: La Raza’s representative, John McDang & Co., are probably celebrating their pre-amnesty win, in 2011, a little early, up at John’s 50-room Sedona “cabin.”

  12. wanumba says:

Every citizen should be demanding of his or her elected representatives to get their sorry asses off their padded chairs and in front of the cameras, the Senate and House floors and start protesting. Citizens should be informing the public, since the media is withholding information to keep them uninformed.

If our representatives had been doing their JOBS, the Obama Administration wouldn’t have DARED to try this in the first place.

Whatever poeple may feel about Brewer, she’s spoken the truth about this and has made it public so the PEOPLE will be informed and warned that this administration will do any dirty trick to promote their destructive agenda.

  13. wanumba says:

Since the UNHRC is perceived correctly as an international travesty, it’s usually ignored, but it does have long term corrosive effects in using the media and the UN to bias the public against a targeted nation or person.
Just ask Israel, their favorite whipping boy.
No one sends “Peace Activists” to Saudi Arabia. Could get one’s hands, head or feet chopped off, or 90 lashes for being an undesirable. The open secret is that it’s SAFE to protest in Israel, proving the labelling and shrieks that tiny Israel is a “human rights abuser” is a big old stinking lie.

Everyone knows it’s crock, but it’s a variation on harrassing by lawsuit. Even though everyone knows the charges will be dropped, the targets of the lawsuits still are forced to use resources to defend themselves, a drag on the budget, sometimes a bankrupting drag.

Boycott Arizona, remember, the purpose as stated by the LA City Council, is to economically “hurt” Arizona. The Obama Administration is not interested in “rectifying any “wrongs” but in damaging Arizona state governing and public security.

  14. Michael Holliday says:

I will give Senator’s McCain and Kyl’s office credit for condemning Maobama’s Assistant Secretary of State Michael Posner, telling him to retract the comments likening AZ’s immigration law to China’s human rights abuses.

What do you know. A little of the old McCain warrior magic. Nice to see he still has a bit of anti-commie fire left in him.

Start standing up like a Ronald Reagan and maybe conservatives will start backing you.

I actually felt proud to be an American and like I had a government backing me when McCain and Kyl came out with that statement.

I thought I was hearing things and had become a bit delusional…Ha, ha!

  15. wanumba says:

The question is: with all of McCain’s vaunted “24 years of influence” he showed no apparent influence in stopping this train from leaving the station in the first place, starting with the China embarrassment, and now worse, with a WH in cynically manufactured hysteria reporting Arizona to the UNHRC.

Senate Foreign Relations committees? What are they for if not to make sure US interests are being respected by the
White House? Can senior senators McCain and Kyl argue they had no idea what the WH was up to regarding ARIZONA?

    Nope.

The only good thing about this is that since everyone knows Arizona isn’t human rights hell, the ones that look like spiteful juvenile political hack idiots to the international diplomatic community are the State Department (Hillary “I am the Secretary of State not my husband, channel THAT you loser” Clinton) and the Barack “I think the Constitution is an impediment” Obama Administration.

Find any country government that has EVER complained about its own states or provinces human rights behaviors to the U.N.

We’ll see more of it though as tinpot dictator tyrants realize they can harrass their domestic political opponents in this truly NOVEL manner.

Is Sudan’s Bashir, smarting under his International Criminal Court supoena and arrest warrant, (for “crimes against humanity”) now going to have a great laugh and hustle to officially complain about his Vice President of the South, Salva Kiir, to the UNHRC?

Why not? The South Sudan is poised to vote on a historic Referendum for Independence in January 2011 – a few months away, and Bashir is under big big big big pressure to keep that from happening. He’s already got the committees tasked with the referendum in gridlock to stall it.

  16. Michael Holliday says:

Yeah, Arizona is such a big human rights violator that everyone’s piling in here, across the border, as fast as they can to drop an anchor baby and get a piece of the giveaway pie.

How McCain ever thought (thinks) that he could “reach across the aisle” with these people is baffling. Especially since the libs never reach across the aisle for something conservative. It’s always a one-way street.

I guess the will of the majority of Arizonans to keep their state and national sovereignty is a human rights violation against the global socialist order of things.

Nice to know our government is working for the legitimate citizens against the mobs of invaders. Much like Rome did before the fall…not!

Much like America, Rome had degenerated to the point where the barbarians simply walked in.

    Gibbon would be perplexed…

  17. todd says:

Wanumba, actually I do understand some of the workings of the UN and of course it makes perfect sense to mention this law since it has to do with immigration. Perhaps you should bother to read the report.

    ……………………..

I’m sorry, unlike you who are are totally dependent on google, with no field experience, I’ve worked with humanitarian aid emergencies with the UN and the kind of atrocities that are brought to the attention of the UN are because of a FAILURE of the NATIONAL GOVERNMENT to stop either conducting the atrocities against its own people or lack of capacity or incompetence in dealing with stopping the atrocities.

SInce their citizens are involved, MEXICO can lodge a complain against the USA, but then they’d look STUPID, because they treat illegals horribly, and they have no international SUPPORT for shoving their citizens over an international border, so they don’t want it to backfire on them if they try. If Mexico can pour its citizens into its neighbors, why not Libya into Chad?
Oh! Libya TRIED and started a WAR.

This is more than simple nonsense for the United States government to be lodging complaints to the UN against its own citizens and a state in the Union which hasn’t done ANYTHING. The amoral audacity of it has got even the tin-pots with dropped jaws. Why didn’t THEY ever think of THAT?

This is raw, destructive political bullying which opens the doors to MORE abuse.

I can’t believe you are that stupid to protest so transparently, so you must approve of this grostesque act on the part of the Obama Administration against Arizona.

Why don’t you hang out at KOS where your political ideology is rampant? This is a Conservative blog with Conservative commentary on these issues.

Further, coming from someone who’s worked in the field, if a lot of the bleeding Liberal Lefties actually saw what the UN was DOING, instead of fantasizing what they THINK it’s doing, they’d be FAR less enamoured of giving up our national sovereignty rights to it.

  19. todd says:

wanumba – the US has not lodged a complaint against its own citizens with the UN. You are categorically wrong.

    I don’t read KOS, btw.

  20. wanumba says:

The Obama Administration has identified Arizona as a human rights potential abuser in their report to the UNHRC. It doesn’t look like much in print, but it allows UNHRC opportunities it shouldn’t have to follow up, inquire, meddle, publicize, feed the media.

Not a country in the world has done that to its own people.
Obama has initiated a very bad precedent in America, one used by the likes of Robert Mugabe, destroyer of once prosperous Zimbabwe, by abusing the office of POTUS to harass a state government for the purpose of getting that state government to rescind a law – abuse of power includes boycotting the businesses of the state, so the PEOPLE are measurably hurt enough economically they pressure the state government to cave.
SB1070 is so rational, unremarkable and popoular a law, only the crassest forms of brutal, punishing arm-twisting will work.

The ABUSE is coming from exactly the usual suspects the UNHRC deals with – a national government using all power levers to squeeze and harass a targeted political opposition within its own country. Obama is just looking for a fig leaf of some other organization being the bad guy as he works to crush opposition.

The USA provides the lion’s share of the UN budget, plus the lion’s share of food aid and other material contributions. We have a “human rights” problem?

    Stop defending the indefensible.

With all due respect, isn’t that no more than a “Hans Blix strongly worded letter” from Senators who have Congressional authority to check such actions?

Evidently, they don’t have the swing to rally the other Senators to reject a blatant power play that will eventually affect ALL states negatively?

Didn’t have much effect. Obama ignored it and jacked this to the UN. Not even a fake contrite apology to placate the Honorable Senators.

  25. wanumba says:

The point is, our elected representatives should have stopped the Obama Administration from doing this crap in the first place, another harrassment of Arizona, another in a line of UnConstitutional acts against AZ. Every one of them, (D) or (R). If the (D)s can’t scrape up enough national duty and pride together between themselves, then the (R)s have to step up. But … hooooooooooo. Nothing. John McCain’s low-output idea of “Standing up for Arizonans?”

Does anyone in Arizona think Cuba has ANY shred of credibility in reviewing or should be handed on a platter any sort of authority on ANY rational or legal level that Arizona is a “human rights abuse zone?” Or China or Saudia Arabia?

Obama was last seen bowing to the Saudi King. Not just a little dip, the lowest one can go before groveling on the earth at his feet. Now he’s delivered Arizona to be judged by him? Any Saudi national serving at the UN from Saudi Arabia has got to be approved by the King. Connections, connections, control.

This is interpreted thru the Muslim world as a tributary state act to the master state.
As I said, this despicable sell-out by our own government goes way beyond just an apparently simple aparagraph.

Sorry to be such a drag, introducing international diplomacy issues into the complacent bubble life. But, you may notice that this commentary about this issue was posted here on SA Saturday night. DRUDGE linked Brewer’s letter for his page early Sunday, Sean Hannity was talking about the issue today, Monday.

If the idea that Castro by his chosen proxie is laughing over Obama handing him a US state and tacit permission to condemn it, doesn’t get you fried, then you do not understand the evil of Castro’s regime and the collossal travesty of allowing Cuba to be on ANY Human Rights Commission while THAT brutal regime is in power. Or CHina, or Saudi Arabia.

Slavery is still allowed in Saudi Arabia, and non-believers, which are many of the foreign workers who go there for work, get a markedly LOWERED status in society, with fewer rights, more physical abuse. Many are trapped when they arrive for work and have their passports taken from them so they can’t leave.

ARizona should be sitting in judgment of these snakes, not the other way around.

Why pick on them, though? They aren’t the ony ones not performing. The Democrats, as a political pack, have vanished into their burrows. Constituents, what constituents?

  29. Lets call a spade a spade ok. The bill is targeted against a section of society and is a major concern for the state of Arizona. Stand behind the new law don’t be affected by the truth of its negative nature.
