Of the two viable candidates running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Arizona, only one is worthy of a vote from true pro-life voters. That candidate is J.D Hayworth. The other candidate, John McCain, has a spotty pro-life record and has not been an advocate for pro-life causes. For instance, McCain supports experimenting on baby embryos, which of course kills them. McCain also supports using federal tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research. J.D. Hayworth opposes both. As far as ratings from pro-life groups, JD Hayworth has a 100% rating from ProLife Arizona, and a 100% rating from National Right to Life. Even Arizona Right to Life said, “AZRTL PAC acknowledges that J.D. Hayworth had a perfect pro-life voting record during his service in the U.S. House of Representatives.” It does NOT say the same about McCain. John McCain, on the other hand, received a 0% rating from ProLife Arizona for not completing its survey. He has only a 75% rating from National Right to Life. Though controversially endorsed by Arizona Right to Life this year, he was passed over in 2008 for his support of embryonic stem cell research, a position he still holds. Arizona Right to Life has taken a public relations thrashing for its endorsement of McCain. National Right to Life endorsed Fred Thompson in 2008 over John McCain because of McCain’s support for testing embryos, in addition to McCain’s support of McCain-Feingold, legislation which heavily restricted the 1st Amendment rights of pro-life groups. As recently as 1999, John McCain is quoted as saying about abortion, “I’d love to see a point where it is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.” San Francisco Chronicle & CNN, August 1999 Arizona pro-lifer voters have a clear choice on Tuesday to protect and advance the sanctity of life, and that choice is J.D. Hayworth. |

JD is a danger to Planned Parenthood! Vote for McCain; he does nothing for the pro-life movement
100% pro life means he’s 100% pro American!
God.
Family.
Country.
Hayworth.
Wow! I can’t believe McCain was AGAINST overturning Roe so recently. A lot of pro-lifers have been duped by him!
Anyone notice that Barry Wong filled out the Center for Arizona Policy survey as a pro-lifer this year? He had a pro-choice voting record in the House and was endorsed by Planned Parenthood in the past. Arizona Right to Life says that “Barry Wong, another candidate in the Republican primary for Corporation Commission, is pro-abortion and voted against protecting the sanctity of life while a member of the state legislature. For this reason, AZRTL PAC strongly urges pro-life supporters to vote for both Brenda Burns and Gary Pierce and not Barry Wong.”
Great to see AZRTL pick up the ball in the Corporation Commission race.
They sure dropped it with their U.S. Senate pick!
AZRTL is a political organization. They don’t make their endorsements on the issue, they make it on who give them the most benefit.
Why would anyone care what position a Corporation Commissioner holds on abortion?
LOL! A fake PAC gives JD 100%. Imagine that! LOL!
“Why would anyone care what position a Corporation Commissioner holds on abortion?”
No government funding of solar panels for abortion clinics!
They would care when a candidate who is actually pro-choice falsely claims otherwise in a survey to fool conservatives. For starters.
How can a candidate go from being endorsed by Planned Parenthood and having a solidly pro-choice record in the legislature to believing that abortion should be outlawed in all cases except to protect the life of the mother, as Wong now says in the CAP survey (which he has never filled out until this year by the way). It’s called fooling pro-life
voters to get elected.
I believe the issue goes to core principles of a person, their position on Abortion vs Pro-Life is much like the issue of Unalienable right for personal protection vs Gun Control. Both or either one of these issues viewed in the context of personal responsibility or the opposite , the assumption of irresponsibility and looking for the easy way out. Good judgement is an important factor in any position of an elected official and I would say it gives the voters a look into the window of his/her character.
2005 CENSURE OF McCAIN BY ARIZONA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY
WHEREAS, Senator John McCain is presently co-sponsoring, together with his Democrat soul-mate, Senator Teddy Kennedy, a Bill to Reform the Immigration Policy of the United States promoting amnesty for illegal aliens and for their U.S. employers, thus ignoring the opinions of his constituents expressed in numerous polls and personal pleas; and
WHEREAS, Senator McCain deserted the ranks of the Republican Party and the Leadership of the U.S. Senate on the issue of limiting the filibuster of judicial nominations, some of which have been on-hold for several years, thus stalling the President’s agenda for judicial reform; and
WHEREAS, Senator McCain led the Democrat Party in “reforming” campaign finance, providing for a clear usurpation of 1st Amendment free speech rights during the last 60 days of an election campaign, and leading to an orgy of spending in the 2004 elections;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Arizona Republican Assembly (ARA) officially and publicly censures Senator John McCain for dereliction of his duties and responsibilities as a representative of the citizens of Arizona; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the ARA strongly urges State Republican Party Chairman, Matt Salmon, the Arizona State Republican Party and its County and Legislative District affiliates to officially and publicly express their displeasure with Senator McCain by means of a public censure; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be sent to the Chairman of the State Republican Party, to all Republican County and Legislative District Chairman and be issued as a Press Release to the media.
Reporter in New Hampshire: Senator McCain, if your teenage daughter got pregnant, what would you do?
McCain: My wife and I would talk to her, and then WE’D LET HER MAKE THE DECISION.
Conclusion: McCain expressed the classical pro-choice/pro-abortion position. He is not pro-life.
Jim Deakin is prolife
