I do thank McCain for bringing Sarah Palin out of Alaska and into the national spotlight, even if he had no idea what he had with her and obviously regretted it once the crowds went wild. It wasn’t supposed to be about Governor Sarah Palin, but about him and his fine family guy, Barack Obama. So, it would irritate McCain no end to be thanked for being the guy who made Palin a household name, more known than his own.
McCain’s headed for bitter, self-absorbed obscurity, no matter whether he wins Tuesday or not, but Palin’s going on to far greater things than McCain ever achieved or can achieve. McCain’s debate performance exposed that his veneer of civility is thinning, not sufficient anymore to hide the corrosive animosity he carries. Unless that changes, any future contributions will be negative, not positive, and increasingly out of step with the state and the nation. Working on auto-pilot, he appears to expect his campaign machine to campaign for him, and if he wins Tuesday, he will be facing what will effectively be his THIRD campaign in two years, after a grueling national race for POTUS, then a spenda-palooza primary, then facing a Democrat.
We have to gamble that McCain won’t pompously drop his campaign against the Democrat to rush to Washington to vote for Democrat Party legislation. A feeble, self-deluding hope backing a bad bet, since he did exactly that to us all, already; the Democrat won and the lion’s share of TARP money extracted out of struggling American taxpayers vanished overseas to bail out foreign companies.
JD Hayworth has campaigned with dignity, and perserverence; by Tuesday, he will have done what he could have done, the rest is out of his hands. McCain’s own stifling and hobbling McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform to Favor the Incumbent, and his use of a war chest including Republican money raised expressly for defeating Democrat Obama, but now employed against Republican Hayworth is a putrid political reality that may or may not be overcome in this primary time frame. We’ll see.
If McCain loses, Cindy might need that duct tape she favors to cover his mouth. Maybe stuff her ears with it. We’ve ALL been warned for years at how well McCain takes set-backs. If Hayworth loses, we won’t have to plug our ears and hustle the children out of earshot. And Hayworth is plenty young enough to try AGAIN, unlike McCain.
Sonoran Alliance
A fitting tribute to a public embarrassment!
“JD Hayworth has campaigned with dignity”
I quite disagree. Just the debate on local TV shows this isn’t true.
McCain disgusted the voters nationally during his lackluster, self-entitlement, Democrat-enabling campaign.
That’s why he’s had to spend so much money trying to salvage his career here in AZ, defending himself against a Republican.
I came in undecided last year and have been so disgusted with the McCain campaign and McCain’s behavior that they turned me off. The insecurity of his campaign manifested in their swarming and denigrating attacks on voters for the slightest criticism.
John “I’ll do whatever it takes” McCain “chose lying.” He is enabled by people who promote his nilistic philosophy of “win at all costs.”
JD Hayworth has managed to stay consistent and positive. That does count for more than just a little, especially amongst those who are fed up with the politicians who have been voting to strip our nation of its uniqueness, its strength and its freedoms.
We’ll see. The election is Tuesday. The nation is worried, and the people are right that we are at the threshold of disaster, brought to us by a Democrat Party majority with specifically John McCain who time after time enables them. The cockiest doesn’t always win, the ends don’t justify the means, and when people lie too much they lose touch with reality.
Very well said. McCain’s reputation is shot after this campaign, win or lose. I have NO respect for him anymore. I don’t like lying politicians. JD has handled himself very well. He has not stooped to the dirty politics of the McCain machine.
Wow, It is amazing to see who is living in a bubble here. Hayworth’s political career in AZ is over. McNasty is going to do a victory dance on JD’s political corpse. This is exactly what he set out to do.
No kidding that’s what he set out to do. He oozes his stated intentions to do “whatever it takes” to win. Where does that leave the voters?
With a liar who won’t represent them.
It’s a primary, so one usually doesn’t spend time arguing with Democrats over two Republicans, but it’s revealing how much Democrats want McCain to win, how many Demoocrats McCain can mobilize to help him against a Republican.
At some point McCain’s lies will catch up to him. JD Hayworth was right to challenge him.
“McCain’s headed for bitter, self-absorbed obscurity, no matter whether he wins Tuesday or not”
LOL! Already preparing the lines for when JD loses…lol
wanumba – what Democrats has McCain mobilized? The only people I see defending him are Republicans.
Molly Pitcher has provided all sorts of material right here.
Democrat David Duke appeared out of nowhere, with a virtual poison kiss intended for political death, with *surprise* Hayworth’s name on it, even though it’s repackaged after first coming up weeks ago as a counterattack when McCain was defending himself against Hayworth’s criticism of McCain official endorser Paul Babeu’s judgement in interviewing on a fringy radio show.
Molly’s linked CNBC show was smirking Liberal Left media practically reading out of McCain’s playbook, attacking Hayworth while listing off McCain accomplishments, with suggestion, attacks and leading comments posed as questions. Independent reporting it was NOT.
DeAnn,
“He has not stooped to the dirty politics of the McCain machine.” With the posts of people like Steven Robinson, Suzanne Cavalier and crew why would JD have to when it’s already being done for him?
As “Republican” McCAIN SHOULD have told Democrat KKK David Duke to get lost, but instead gleefully spread from a politically hostile Democrat what he knows is false to hurt a fellow Republican. The KKK targeted and murdered Republicans, it’s NOT a SMALL thing.
McCain makes a big hoo-hoo about “team” and “military” and “duty” and “sacrifice” and shows time after time that he doesn’t “have anyone’s back.” He boasts he lies so he can “do whatever it takes.” With that history, who’d trust HIM as a “battle-buddy?”
“Character matters.” Men of character would have stepped up and repudiated it and instructed their staffs to not dirty their campaign with it. McCain’s playing the pig he claims he isn’t. “Doing whatever it takes” isn’t clean politics, it’s as dirty as it gets.
It’s a verbal sparring now, speeches and ads and rherotic, but amnesty for law-breakers is real, with real and lasting consequences, including blanket citizenship for violent foreign drug dealers, cartel leaders, operatives and terrorists already inside our borders, and while our border is wide open, our law enforcement is being sold out, harrassed and attacked, legally AND PHYSICALLY.
Deliberate federal government inaction will also achieve along the border what the Left and the Democrats have wanted to achieve for decades, to rid the region of private ranchers, of cattle, of grazing.
McCain has been an active actor in this dismantling of our national integrity and security. A good part of the source of actions that have brought us to where we are today, can be traced right to McCain.
wanumba,
Duke is a Republican. The rest of your rant is equally bass ackwards.
But isn’t it odd how he works out some grand conspiracy that the left wants more undocumented workers so there is no cattle ranching. I also suppose he believes it is a big plot to get more Democratic voters. He doesn’t get the rather obvious point about who benefits from both whipping up nativism to distract from other issues and at the same time maintains a steady stream of low-wage workers. Its like these people need to create a total alternate universe with grand conspiracies because they can’t look at reality.

wanumba,
Duke is a Republican.
…….
linky please.
He’s been a Democrat all his life, running for political office as a Democrat, actually winning one election for Democratic Party nominee for Vice President. He registered as a Republican in his home state of Louisiana a few years ago, expressly to weasel into the election when the other Democrat beat him out, provoking bumperstickers that said:
VOTE FOR THE CROOK, IT’S IMPORTANT. Duke didn’t get anywhere with his manuver and provoked a Republican Party rank and file outcry for his dirty trick.
So, you know very well that David Duke is a cynical, manipulative proud KKK operator whose political home has LONG been the Democratic Party.
The KKK targeted Republicans for murder, for their political beliefs. The Democrats have NEVER complained about the KKK in their midst and had our national flag recently lowered to half-mast to honor Democrat KKK Robert Byrd.
You voting for “I chose lying” McCain or the Democrat? Or what’s the difference?
Last time ya’ll had a ladies coffee-clatch conference, ya’ll decided by committee that I couldn’t possibly have gone to Kenya, and neither did Obama.
Evidently you all made yourselves happy, but your consensus was total, worthless bunk. Obama’s 2006 mischief in Kenya is circulating thru the internet now in 2010, lots of inconvenient pictures, lots of video now, heads-up reported right here, first. Instead of being delighted you got a scoop, you all were mad. Pesky boots on the ground reporting and facts messed up the “narrative” – screwed up the “message.”
You are not interested in truth, but controlling the “message.”
Wanumba,
The only elected office Duke has held was as a Republican in 1988. He ran for Senate as a Republican, getting 43% in the prImary. He ran for Governor as a Republican and President as a Republlican.
As usual, when you have shown yourself to not know what you are talking about you bring up Kenya.
Please show where I ever claimed that Obama did not go to Kenya. I know you will not since I have never written such a thing.
2005 CENSURE OF McCAIN BY ARIZONA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY
WHEREAS, Senator John McCain is presently co-sponsoring, together with his Democrat soul-mate, Senator Teddy Kennedy, a Bill to Reform the Immigration Policy of the United States promoting amnesty for illegal aliens and for their U.S. employers, thus ignoring the opinions of his constituents expressed in numerous polls and personal pleas; and
WHEREAS, Senator McCain deserted the ranks of the Republican Party and the Leadership of the U.S. Senate on the issue of limiting the filibuster of judicial nominations, some of which have been on-hold for several years, thus stalling the President’s agenda for judicial reform; and
WHEREAS, Senator McCain led the Democrat Party in “reforming” campaign finance, providing for a clear usurpation of 1st Amendment free speech rights during the last 60 days of an election campaign, and leading to an orgy of spending in the 2004 elections;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Arizona Republican Assembly (ARA) officially and publicly censures Senator John McCain for dereliction of his duties and responsibilities as a representative of the citizens of Arizona; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the ARA strongly urges State Republican Party Chairman, Matt Salmon, the Arizona State Republican Party and its County and Legislative District affiliates to officially and publicly express their displeasure with Senator McCain by means of a public censure; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be sent to the Chairman of the State Republican Party, to all Republican County and Legislative District Chairman and be issued as a Press Release to the media.
McCain: “I chose lying.”
It’d work if it was actually analogous.
But it’s not.
McCain is not getting my vote, ever. It’s better a real Democrat than futile hoping a Democrat lying he’s Republican will be anything more than what he is.
Prefer my Progressive Lefties straight up rather than the sneaks who slither around back-stabbing the Party and the voters.
But who cares to settle for anti-Constitutional Democrat?
Vote for a Republican Conservative.
