RINO LD6 House Candidate David Fitzgerald is A Hillary Clinton Supporter and Contributor

“Constitutional Conservative” RINO David Fitzgerald, a Republican candidate for the Arizona House in Legislative District 6, proclaims himself a “Constitutional Conservative” but this suppose constitutional conservative gave $250.00 to Hillary Clinton in 2005. Don’t believe me? This link has the gory details and also raises some interesting questions if David has been truthful about his support for Hillary Clinton.

Personally, I don’t know any other “constitutional conservatives” who are also donors to Hilary Clinton. I wonder which of Hillary Clinton’s positions motivated David to contribute? Could it have been her support of abortion-on-demand? Her support for raising taxes? Her support for cap and trade? Her support for a single government payer health care system? Maybe, it was just her general loathing for the Constitution and free-markets that inspired David to make his first ever reported political donation.

The term RINO is used on this site regularly to label Republican that don’t hold true to the conservative principle on all issues. I can’t think of an act that earns you the title RINO better than supporting and giving your hard earned dollars to Hillary Clinton (well, maybe giving to Obama would worse but that is debatable).

Grassroots Interviews with LD 7 House candidate Howard Sprague

Last night on Grassroots Interviews I interviewed Howard Sprague a House candidate in LD 7. There are seven people running for two House seats.

Largely, I agree with Howard Levine’s analysis of the LD 7 House candidates. I part with Howard on his analysis of David Burnell Smith. First, as I’ve said multiple times, Ray Barnes scores slightly to the left of Sanctuary Six Nancy Barto according to Goldwater and other conservative scoring organizations. David Smith scored considerably to the left of Ray. Mr. Smith has also been removed from office due to Clean Elections violations. Smith is, to say the least, a colorful character who claims he’s not going to engage in any “sign pollution.” If he’s not going to use one of the most visible means of campaigning, I’d like to know exactly what his campaign strategy is. Finally, Mr. Smith is one of only two candidates that stood me up on Grassroots Interviews without even a courtesy phone call or e-mail. For those reasons I have serious concerns about Mr. Smith holding office.

I had ONE concern with Howard Sprague before the interview: that he was touting having been Dean Martin’s campaign manager the first time Dean ran for the Senate in 2000. Howard was absentee. However, Howard gave me an answer I agreed with 100%: Dean didn’t need a campaign manager. Dean was just that astute of a campaigner. He new how to do his own bulk mail and could design his own mail pieces. Dean, a political newcomer at the time, defeated the RINO House member Tom Horne in that race. Too bad it wasn’t Horne’s political obituary for eternity.

During the interview, Howard’s support for Jim Waring for Congress in CD 3 made me uneasy since Waring is a McCain staffer and because of that past, he will be all too willing to help McCain if both should be elected. If you look at the Roundtable Politics show I just posted, I predicted that Jim would win the CD 3 race since he has long been considered a frontrunner, Waring has tirelessly been knocking on doors, and Quayle may suffer from his involvement with dirty.com. Be that as it may, I will not be voting for Waring since he is not the most conservative candidate in the race and with so many people in the race, a candidate needs fewer and fewer votes to win. Additionally, Jim refused to come on my show even after I clearly stated that I would be willing to change my schedule to accommodate him. I may be critical of Jim, but I have given EVERY candidate a chance to respond, uninterrupted, to any concerns I may have. I might have disclosed who I am voting for in the aforementioned Roundtable Politics episode. My choice has always been between Gorman and Crump. I worry about their ability to fundraise. While Crump apparently supported a tax increase for a road in California, Gorman has supported moderate candidates Tony Bouie (I do like Tony on a personal level and I truly do appreciate the fact that he came on the show and I do want to remain friends with him. Luckily, I’m not in LD 4 and don’t have to cast a vote in that race!) and Peggy Neely. In my opinion, conservative candidates should NEVER support moderates. Moderates are a poison that lead to minority status.

So, as a conservative that believes moderates are responsible for our minority status, I have to vote for who I believe is the most conservative candidate that has at least a snowball’s chance. Also, since no one will agree with any candidate 100%, you have to choose the least flawed candidates. As I state in this interview with Howard, as an individual, I am endorsing Howard Sprague and Mike Farrar for the two LD 7 House seats. I strongly urge all LD 7 voters to go to the polls and cast their two votes for Mike Farrar and Howard Sprague.

Crank up your volume. The sound quality on this recording is awful.

ProLife Arizona gives McCain a 0% rating

Rates JD Hayworth 100%

Reprinted from Lighthouse Blog

Of the two viable candidates running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Arizona, only one is worthy of a vote from true pro-life voters.  That candidate is J.D Hayworth.  The other candidate, John McCain, has a spotty pro-life record and has not been an advocate for pro-life causes.  For instance, McCain supports experimenting on baby embryos, which of course kills them.  McCain also supports using federal tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research.  J.D. Hayworth opposes both.

As far as ratings from pro-life groups, JD Hayworth has a 100% rating from ProLife Arizona, and a 100% rating from National Right to Life.   Even Arizona Right to Life said, “AZRTL PAC acknowledges that J.D. Hayworth had a perfect pro-life voting record during his service in the U.S. House of Representatives.”  It does NOT say the same about McCain.

John McCain, on the other hand, received a 0% rating from ProLife Arizona for not completing its survey.  He has only a 75% rating from National Right to Life.  Though controversially endorsed by Arizona Right to Life this year, he was passed over in 2008 for his support of embryonic stem cell research, a position he still holds.

Arizona Right to Life has taken a public relations thrashing for its endorsement of McCain.

National Right to Life endorsed Fred Thompson in 2008 over John McCain because of McCain’s support for testing embryos, in addition to McCain’s support of McCain-Feingold, legislation which heavily restricted the 1st Amendment rights of pro-life groups.

As recently as 1999, John McCain is quoted as saying about abortion, “I’d love to see a point where it is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.”  San Francisco Chronicle & CNN, August 1999

Arizona pro-lifer voters have a clear choice on Tuesday to protect and advance the sanctity of life, and that choice is J.D. Hayworth.

Correction of Erroneous Article

Correction regarding the Following Post:

“McCain and his Mini-Me, Deakin, Try to Fool Arizonans with Disingenuous Reform Rhetoric” as written by Susan Bradford, August 4, 2010

About two weeks ago, I  posted the above mentioned article.  In it there was a link to a website which showed numerous government contracts with various Defense Department agencies such as the Army and Navy.  The links showed these contracts held by Detek, Inc. and Liberty Fire Protection, Inc., which are the names of Jim Deakin’s companies here in Arizona.  Unfortunately, as I performed my own due diligence I discovered that, while the names of the company with these contracts are certainly Detek, Inc. and Liberty Fire Protection, Inc., they were NOT Jim Deakin’s companies.  In fact, the corporations were  defense contractors in Maryland and South Carolina. There was no ill intent in the error, just a failure to  completely research the sources for this article.

I drew inferences from this article, that now appear to be incorrect.  I have  deleted the article and I sincerely apologize to Jim Deakin and his campaign for its posting  and the erroneous statements that I made. I will work much more diligently of confirming the accuracy of future posts.

Banned by the Arizona Republic Newspaper Censors Article; Thomas Vows Not to Seek Endorsement in General Election

Arizona Republic on jihad against Thomas

Likely violating campaign finance laws with its nonstop attacks on Thomas attempting to defeat him in the primary election

The Arizona Republic has gone on a jihad against Andrew Thomas, printing nonstop “news articles” and editorials against him in an over-the-top offensive attempt to influence the election and defeat him in Tuesday’s primary. Now, they are refusing to print his op-eds.

Republican candidate for Attorney General Andrew Thomas disclosed today that the editorial page editors of the Arizona Republic have refused to publish a response to the newspaper’s latest editorial jihad against him unless his campaign agreed to write only what the editors specifically allow.
In response to this latest outrage, and just as he didn’t seek their endorsement in the primary election, Thomas has pledged not to seek the endorsement of the newspaper in the general election should he win the Republican primary.
In the past week, the liberal editors of the Arizona Republic have published no fewer than four editorials (including their reprint of their previous endorsement of Tom Horne), one op-ed, and a “My Turn” column blasting Thomas on various issues. This sort of frenetic editorial activity by the newspaper is apparently unprecedented.
In response, Barnett Lotstein, a career prosecutor and spokesman for Thomas, asked for the opportunity to respond to this avalanche of editorials intended to boost Thomas’ opponent. Mr. Lotstein submitted a “My Turn” column after receiving permission from the paper to do so.
The editors then refused to run the article unless Lotstein agreed to write about merely the single, narrow issue they thought important. In other words, after devoting a week of print to lambasting Thomas, the editors censored his campaign’s lone feeble attempt to respond.
When Lotstein pointed out the unfairness of their dictating the contents of his piece, the editor then changed her objection. She claimed there was no need for Lotstein’s “My Turn” because Thomas had already discussed these matters in his own “My Turn.” The editor ignored the fact that the Republic had already discussed these matters in multiple editorials, op-eds, etc., in a six-to-one ratio criticizing Thomas. Lotstein told them their new objection was “disingenuous.” They did not respond.
“It is well known that the liberal editors of the Arizona Republic detest Sheriff Arpaio and me and our efforts to curb illegal immigration and bring legitimate corruption cases against friends of the newspaper,” said Thomas. “As a result of this latest censorship and related events, I will not seek the endorsement of the Republic should I win the Republican nomination for Attorney General next Tuesday.”
A copy of Lotstein’s submitted “My Turn” and the emails between him and the Republic’s editors are available upon request.
During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted. The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time. The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas has a track record of successfully defending illegal immigration crackdowns in our courts, including his successful efforts to prosecute illegal immigrants for conspiring to violate the state’s human-smuggling law and to defend Prop 200′s voter ID requirements and the employer-sanctions law, which he defended along with the Attorney General’s Office. If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office’s prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state’s human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.
Thomas is married with four children. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.

Lower return rate of early ballots favors conservative Republicans

Surprising average return rate of early ballots

No increase in Independents voting

According to Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell, who appeared on Horizon Tuesday night, there is no surge in voting reflected in early ballots. 235,000 had been sent in so far, which is about the same number the Recorder’s Office usually sees at this stage of a non-presidential primary election. Purcell said she was surprised considering the number of high-profile races and candidates and controversies. She expected a larger turnout and more interest. She said there is usually 17-22% turnout in a primary, and would not be surprised if this primary doesn’t even reach 22%.

This bodes well for conservative Republican candidates. Conservatives make up the base of the Republican Party and reliably turn out to vote. It is Independents who aren’t choosing to vote this year. They showed up en masse to vote for Obama in 2008, but seemed to have lost interest this year, even in Arizona where there are several contentious races. Prediction: Moderate Republican candidates will do poorly on Tuesday.
