After the release of grand jury records revealing Andy Thomas had purposely mislead the public for his own personal and political gain, often referring to an ongoing investigation that had long since been thrown out, you would think he would learn a lesson. Or maybe when other County Attorney’s told him..you’ve got no case, buddy…he would stop. But, no. He lied and attempted to keep it going while he shopped for someone to prosecute what he perceived as his political enemies.
All in the name of the law.
But, it is very clear that the law means nothing to Mr. Thomas and the truth even less.
Today the Thomas campaign issued a press release, you can see it in the post below, saying the ACC was investigating Tom Horne. If you read the letter they use as the evidence, it is nowhere near a statement of investigation. It is nothing more than a reply to a letter of complaint they received from Thomas’ campaign.
There is no investigation. Thomas’ claims are not true says the Arizona Corporation Commission. Not at all.
But, never one to let the truth get in the way of a good press release…Thomas ran with it and once again, lied.
It’s actually not accurate,” commission spokesman Rebecca Wilder said of the Thomas press release. “We received a complaint. We’re not conducting an investigation at this time.”
So will Andy retract his statement…of course not. He will continue to spread his version of the truth. After all, isn’t that all that matters?
Thomas however is under investigation; reportedly by the State Bar and the FBI over abuse of power allegations related to his pursuit of criminal charges against county judges, supervisors and top administrators.
Either the law means something or it doesn’t.” Jason Rose….
Unless you are Andrew Thomas.

Molly, apparently you can’t read. What part of the letter don’t you understand? The words “with respect to this investigation?”
It’s simple Molly.
Horne declared bankruptcy.
Horne lied about it..repeatedly when he filed incorporation papers.
That’s a crime
Posters #1 and #2 are mere tools in the Thomas factory. What part of a commission spokeswoman saying “there is no investigation” don’t you understand?
Andy thomas is just making the GOP look bad here… Trust me I am not a fan of horne either but what happens when thomas gets elected AG and then in a year is disbarred for this BS, its not only going to hurt thomas its going to have a negative effect on the GOP statewide.
What will make the GOP look bad is electing Tom Horne. Andrew Thomas didn’t make him lie when he filed his papers.
DGN is a tool. What part of the letter can’t you read? In writing always trumps anything verbal.
Under Horne test scores went down. Under Thomas crime went down.
No, Roger, REPORTED crime went down. The requirements to report crime (to have it qualify as crime) became more stringent.
Also, as anyone with a High School student knows, the SAT changed the test recently. (2006?) They added a whole new section. Perhaps that *might* have an impact on scores? Apples to Oranges, if you’ve ever taken a class on the test-makers’ strategies to pass the darned thing you’d know that right off.
johnny:
“…what happens when thomas gets elected AG and then in a year is disbarred for this BS, its not only going to hurt thomas its going to have a negative effect on the GOP statewide.”
The national spotlight is on AZ due to SB1070. Arpaio is known (loved, hated) all over the nation. How much national attention would Arpaio’s right-hand man being disbarred get? What effect would THAT have on the national GOP perception??
Doesn’t take much imagination to have an idea what the media would start saying about anyone who wants immigration enforced.
And that includes me.
Hi, Roger. Thanks for noticing me. The letter is a constituent services reply. It does not mean there is a formal investigation. I can read… and as a bonus, I can comprehend what it means, too.
The SAT was dumbed down and AZ scores were still down.
Horne has admitted that he did NOT list his bankruptcy on his corporate disclosure statements FOUR times, saying he “regretted” not listing the bankruptcy. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/2010/06/20/20100620tom-horne-bankruptcy.html
The OFFICIAL Corporation Commission form Horne signed says “I declare under penalty of law that I have examined this report and to the best of my knowledge it is true, accurate and complete.”
If you don’t believe me google “Horne Bistrow and Dulberg”, pull up the first item and click on annual reports 1997 thru 2000.
Tom Horne is a FELON, he is under INVESTIGATION, he will be INDICTED and DISBARRED
I don’t like Thomas and in fact have cast my ballot for Horne already, but it looks like they have Horne dead to rights here. State law section 39-161 makes it a felony to file a false document. http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/39/00161.htm&Title=39&DocType=ARS
I can’t ignore facts even ones I don’t necessarily like. What am I missing here?
My ladies, you are “both” up early! Errors are made all the time, according to the ACC spokesperson..he will need to amend the forms and that will be the end of story.
Unlike Andy…who will be moving his office to an 8×9 room with one small window and no wireless but a “private” toilet and sink.
“Ann,” Horne has already been found “guilty” by the SEC and admitted not disclosing his bankruptcy as well as hiring a felon to help our educational system. All you have to support your bogus allegations is an “investigation” that will result in nothing. If you actually care to figure out what facts would support a criminal case, please let us know so people can point out how ridiculous it is.
All I need to remember is if Molly is trashing someone it is with the blessings of John McCain. Makes my choice easy, I will vote Andrew Thomas, that settled it.
Again Thomas tries to mislead the public. I don’t trust him as the state’s top law enforcement officer. Can you imagine if he had the full force, power and taxpayer resources of the AG’s office and he chose to come after you? He would use these same deceitful tactics to destroy you.
We should demand more of our public officials. It is not too much to ask that the top cop be honest in ALL matters. Mistakes happen – but when it does correct it, apologize and don’t do it again. Do not continue to lie. I demand that from my kids. I also expect it from those I vote for. Do NOT vote for Thomas!
I hate to double post, but my comments on the last Thomas smear job seem accurate, so I’m reposting with some additions.
Good Lord.
Read the press release.
Then, read the letter.
This sort of sloppiness is exactly why we do NOT want Andrew Thomas for AG!
The press release is misleading tripe that says that the ACC has “launched an investigation”.
The LETTER that the press release is based on is basically a form letter that mildly chastises Thomas for not including his phone number, instructions as how to fill out a form, and a warning that the ACC is going to take a very long time before doing anything, if it even does anything at all.
I would not mind seeing a candidate with the political views of Andrew Thomas and the legal skills of Tom Horne. Unfortunately, we don’t have that. Still, I will take the slightly more moderate but supremely competent and ethical Horne over the out-of-control, sloppy lawyer Thomas in this election.
————–
Horne failed to disclose a bankruptcy from roughly 40 years ago when he was a college student. It can – and will – be argued that since he has handled a tremendous amount of paper in his career that he did not “knowingly” violate the law. Other than that, he’s got a sterling reputation of a lawyer. Seems that his only fault is that he’s better looking at his client’s paperwork than his own.
We have three choices for AG: Thomas, who is almost certainly on the verge of indictment, Horne, who committed what is a relatively trivial violation, or a Dem. I’ll take Horne.
And conservative means respecting the law and fearing the government, not arresting your political opponents. Sorry, Andy.
Is this you, “Steve Calabrese?” Tons of credibility
About me:
My name used to be Steve MacLeod. Now it’s Calabrese. Go figure.
I usually use the name The_Breeze on line, although on The Rock Garden BBS and others I used the name “macleod”
Former BBS member from the 1980′s & 1990′s.
Former Sysop of Zephyr BBS in Phoenix.
I’m married and have two kids, a boy and a girl.
Crap. I just remembered, as I hunt down old friends. I used to use the
name “Steve Montgomery” too, prior to say sophomore year or so. I think I’ve had too many names.

Yup, jdoe, sure is. That’s me. Sometimes, when you’re a small child fleeing domestic violence your mother feels compelled to change your name a few times to lose the psychopathic nutcase who is trying to hunt you and your mother down. He’s dead now, and even before that I saw no reason to hide my identity once I grew to adulthood. Alas, my name was MacLeod after my stepfather, but when it came time for me to have kids I decided to resume using my birth father’s name.
Is that ok with you, “jdoe”? Talk about credibility. As you’ve just proved, it’s pretty easy to figure out who I am. I have been blessed to have many friends, and the Myspace account is there because there were people looking to reunite with “Steve MacLeod” or “Steve Montgomery” who had no idea that I now had a different name.
Interesting the way you delete a series of posts concerning Thomas’ use of grand juries, which included pertinent part of recently released transcripts.
