Tribune exposes Romley’s fake police database campaign trick
Romley swipes funds from Arpaio’s immigration sweeps and creates new $130k “illegal immigration” job as payback to crony
Cmdr. Bob Rampy, who has led the AZLINK effort and does a lot of the sheriff’s IT work, said, “I’m concerned he’s (Romley) is coming around and taking credit for what has already been done.” Rampy said he was not invited to Tuesday’s meeting. “AZLINK has really been widespread. He should’ve done a little more due diligence on data sharing efforts going on.”
Leesa Morrison-Weisz and her husband George Weisz
Romley also pulled a fast one by taking away funds from Sheriff Arpaio’s illegal immigration sweeps and transferring them to his own office, where he created a fake new position for a supporter of his. The job title is “Special Assistant for Immigration and Border Protection,” but since Romley supports amnesty and open borders, and the person he chose to fill that position, Leesa Morrison-Weisz, came from former Governer Janet Napolitano’s administration, you can rest assured that it will be a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and there will be no actual illegal immigration enforcement. The circumstances surrounding Morrison’s appointment are typical sleazy quid pro quo. Morrison’s husband, George Weisz, was working as an advisor for Democrat Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon. He quit that job to become a political consultant for Romley’s election campaign. Two days later, his wife was appointed to this brand-new position. How nice, you go work for Romley’s campaign and your wife gets a fat new job custom-created for her two days later! It probably also helped that the Weisz’s have contributed to Romley, some of the County Supervisors’ campaigns, and attorneys who oppose Sheriff Arpaio.
Rick Romley is demonstrating after just a few months that he intends to run the County Attorney’s Office equally as corruptly as the Supervisors are running their office. We wonder what will happen to the Shadow County Attorney’s Office now that it’s in the middle of these two corrupt agencies, which the Supervisors stole away from Andrew Thomas when he was County Attorney?

We know Romley isn’t about prosecuting serious crimes or prosecuting illegal immigrant crime. Take a look at the old AZ News Roundup which listed criminal activity in the county when Andrew Thomas was in office. Romley has turned it into a calendar of events for his Shred-a-thon campaign! How’s that for being tough on crime? I’m sick of hearing about this man, Rose Wilcox, and Don Stapely.
If the crime database already existed, then why did 70 LE agencies show up to Romley’s meeting?
Why didn’t they all just send a memo saying “that already exists?”
I’m thinking that, like the rest of these BS “COMMON SENSE” posts, the “facts” presented don’t really line up with reality.
Dear anonymous blogger:
You state: “He tried to sell the idea to the Arizona Republic first, but they saw right through it and refused.”
Do you have anything to back that up, or are you just making things up, as usual.
Why people continue to distribute your crap is beyond me. You are worse than the newspaper. At least we know who they are.
Am I missing something here ? It seems to me that Mr. Romley is not taking credit for some new joint LE database but wisely trying to optimize and enhance the existing system. Where is the deception? Poster “otasan” vividly noted, why would 70 LE agencies attend a meeting for a investigative resource that was already in use ? As Leesa-Morrison Weisz was quoted in the East Valley Tribune article;
“The meeting was not about creating a new intelligence database, but enhancing the ones law enforcement agencies now have and what other programs some agencies have in place can offer to other ones.”
So how do you discern from Ms. Morrison Weisz’s quote and the facts of the meeting with LE, that Mr. Romley was deceiving, promoting a “fake story” and “hood-winking” his way into grabbing credit for the creation of the database ? It was clearly represented and promoted as a meeting to improve the collective sharing, access and utilization of the database by all components of LE.
As far as the hiring of Ms. Morrison-Weisz who wouldn’t want someone of her caliber and experience on their team ? Do you even know of her credentials and qualifications ? I am guessing that if you do, you would not share that with your readers.
Talk about sleazy campaign moves, this defines sleezy and the title “Common Sense”; a laughable oxymoron.
otasan = ojiisan keep supporting those liberals. It the Tribunes article that points out Romley’s lies.
The data base has existed for year and is used by over70 different law enforcement groups. A while back, your friends the Stupidvisors tried to take it over for their own use. I don’t remember what it is called, but it’s something like ACIGIS. That’s illegal so the tried to kill it completely. They got sued. Now you’re up to date.
Awful, confused sentence:
Leesa Morrison-Weisz, came from former Governer Janet Napolitano’s administration, you can rest assured that it will be a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and there will be no actual illegal immigration enforcement.
However, grammar aside, I do wish whoever wrote this artice would do us the service of telling us exactly what post Morrison-Weisz held under Napolitano. Morrison-Weisz may indeed be very good at what she does; unfortunately, many people who worked under Napolitano are very good at what they do – and they are not only very devious but they have their own agenda at heart, one which they must mask from the public at all costs. Napolitano and those who worked for her are masters at not stepping more than an inch or two beyond public opinion – remember how quickly she abandoned her original pledge to give illegal aliens drivers’ licenses?
Morrison was Napolitano’s Homeland Security head – wholly ineffective and a waste of taxpayer’s money. This is typical of Romley – arrogance first, truth and effectiveness second. Let’s not forget he’s been accused of politicizing the office and throwing his weight around before. It’s time to get rid of the sleazy dead weight.
If anyone seriously belives that the McCain,Romley,Horne triumvirate will really attempt to enforce immigration law once in office, I have the proverbial “Bridge in Brooklyn” to sell you.
To begin with, their donors within the GOP establishment would crucify them!
The C.ofC., and the “Burger Barons” don’t invest their campaign funds unintelligently!
Once in office, these types (along with a safely re-elected Jan Brewer) will go to work immediately with Obama and the Feds to create another Simpson-Mazzoli or McCain-Kennedy.
And they’ll be the “reach out” “big tent” element to thwart a rule of law, Republican dominated Congress or state legislature!
The RINO methodolgy is rather apparent. Let’s hope and pray the GOP rank and file can discern it by August 24th!
I imagine you all have your meetings behind the Grassy Knoll?? You know, yesterday I saw a cloud that looked just like Dwight Eisenhower. Really, I’m sure it was him.
I couldn’t be more of a RINO if I had gray skin, a horn, and weighed 8,000 pounds.
I am the RINO-esty RINO out there. I’m an
Odd-toed ungulate, and a herbivore.
It’s the easiest way to discount my thoughts- just say I’m a liberal or a RINO.
That way you don’t have to engage.
In fact though, I’m just like you all, except I care about facts, and I don’t believe anything published by anonymous children.
Wow, $130K? Another $100,000 and she’ll make as much as David Hendershot.
Which still isn’t as much as the Supervisors lackey David Smith makes.
Does Smith double dip? Didn’t know that. It’d be nice if MCSO didn’t carry 25 bureaucrats making over $100K each…but hey, that’s government work!
Since you posted the lies in a Common Sense article about Romley are you now willing to print the TRUTH?? As you can see the police chiefs from around the valley are in support of Romley’s efforts regarding the data base. Further the Sheriffs office clearly was invited according to the new story. Will you now –DO the RIGHT thing and print the truth? I look forward to an answer. Thanks.

For the first time ever Arizona has the momentum against illegal immigration, triggered by the departure of open-border lunatic Janet Napolitano. Arizona is clearly the favorite to “win” should we get the “super team” in (Hayworth, Brewer, Thomas, Montgomery, Arpaio, Pierce) in place. Unfortunately, that may not happen.
Mary Rose Wilcox and the filth at the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed Romley for one reason – and that was to throw a monkey wrench in the progress that has been made. Romley is dog crap on crutches.
Who will slow, freeze, or reverse the momentum we have? Not the Hispanics, their ilk, or anyone from the dementia crowd. It will be ignorant Republican voters. McCain could fire his entire staff and replace them with La Raza, and a certain sector of Republicans would STILL vote for him. Who the hell ARE these people?
Andrew Thomas ran for County Attorney on the platform of fighting illegal immigration, and he has kept his campaign promise ten times over. Montgomery is a sure bet to pick right up where Thomas left off.
All the cards are on the table. From recent history (the past 5 years), Arizona Republican voters know who is who, who is fighting illegal immigration, and who is perpetuating it. Having said that, I am unwillingly confident that Arizona is once again poised to commit STUPID in next Tuesday’s primary.
Our “no sanctuary” law will NOT protect us from the likes of Rick Romley and Tom Horne. Should these gutter rats get elected, they will continue to rob the Sheriff’s office of funding, and fight to allow “non-criminal” illegals aliens, who are leaving Arizona, to return and run amok in the streets.
Drooling idiocy, greed, and indifference among voting Republicans is about raise it’s ugly head.
