We’re Just Not Seeing Results

By Jane 001

American people don’t want more stimulus from Capital Hill. We can’t be more clear about our disdain for stimulus bills and our desire for government spending to go on lock-down. Nevertheless, the U.S. Senate advanced another $26 billion jobs stimulus bill on Aug 5. GOP Senators had been successful with a filibuster until Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine did their usual dance across the aisle.

The U.S. Senate is advancing spending bills with the speed of a runaway freight train. Although, there’s at least one seasoned GOP veteran in that body who could rally perennial defectors like Snowe and Collins. Some say he’s so effective, no other living Arizonan can be trusted with the job. Despite being tagged as a political tactician, John McCain’s lack of influence with his colleagues is glaring. We can’t count the number of times the Snowe-Collins script has been played. A true tactician would have solved this riddle by now and performed the statesman-like magic in his possession. But there is no magic; and neither are there results.

Maybe John McCain does his best work with Democrats. It’s fine if he enjoys crossing the aisle. But what good is it for someone to cross the aisle when he can’t go across the hall and secure a couple of votes!

I understand what you are saying and yes spending is out of control. Its nuts. But this is a bad example 300,000 teacher jobs were saved and it was paid for not a penny was added to the deficit…

So not the best example in my mind.

That still doesn’t change the fact that john mccain sucks and needs to go of course

The hard core right wing element that’s taken over the Republican party is so out of touch with America that it’s almost pathetic. What most real Americans are concerned about are JOBS. The hard core right just keeps foaming at the mouth over immigration, embracing racism and racist lunatics like Joe Arpaio and Russell Pearce, or religious lunatics like Sharon Angle. Jobs? What’s that? There are people with brown skin in our country!! This must stop!!

As a liberal Democrat, I urge every single Republican out there to get on the phone RIGHT NOW and call your Congressmen and your Senators. Vote no, that’s N-O, on every single jobs bill that comes up between now and November. And trust me, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are not as stupid as you think. There will be more jobs bills and then more jobs bill for you to vote against, along with extending George W. Bush’s tax cuts to millionaires. Keep ranting about immigration, keep alienating young voters and everyone who isn’t white, keep voting against every jobs bill that come up. Please please please, keep it up. I beg you.

And someone will see the results. Trust me. Results.

  3. John McCain has plenty to answer for. Making him responsible for Snowe and Collins is a reach.

  4. Jane 001 says:

Here’s a politician who successfully petitions Senate co-sponsors for dozens of bills including CIR 2007, and @Thane says that despite his experience and presumably more influence, it’s a reach to expect him to petition a single Senator when it comes to a vote for spending bills.

    ………………….

The Democrats robbed Peter to pay Paul – food stamps were slashed, so evidently the Democrats fear rampaging harpy “teachers” who announce they call themselves
“facilitators,” who don’t need “fact-based learning”, just “process” – MORE than the POOR. One wonders how many White Democrats were saved at the expense of Black Democrats this week? Rep. Bachmann notes that the money bails UNIONS, which now have money to run campaign ads against Republicans.

And if “not a penny was added to the deficit,” how come it just rocketed thru the roof in July? Not just “shot” but “intercontinental ballistic.”

The Democrats are destroying the US economy, simple as that.

They are either stupider than bivalve clams or they KNOW what they are doing and want it destroyed.

Which is it? BOTH could be the answer, but NOT “neither.”

Jane001 makes a VERY excellent point: the Maine Snow-Collins tag team should have been shut down by a rational party leadership a long while ago. The Democrats do NOT tolerate any such deviance from THEIR agenda and party platform. The GOP, with the likes of McCain as senior senators, have allowed this corrosive Democrat-enabling behavior to go on and on.

So it seems they’re just Democrats, simple as that, enabling from the GOP side the Democrat agenda, undercutting the GOP at every opportunity.

    McCain “chose lying.”

Obama’s campaign statement in 2008 in his speech to a room-full of the richest people in America who were contributing to his campaign:
    verbatim: (thanks to zombietime)

“You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, a lot of them — like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they’ve gone through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
    …………………

Smearing people without ANY proof of racism, religious intolerance, anti-immigration as synonymous with anti-ILLEGAL immigration, while attacking anti-Second-Amendment Rights early on as a campaign strategy, delivered to the uber wealthy elites he was courting.

  8. johnny says:

    Wanumba,

I love how you attack what I say with rants and tangents that mean nothing. Show me where the CBO or any orgamization said that bill added to the deficit. Yes part of paying for it was cutting food stamps. In order to pay for things under pay go some things will be sacraficed. But all you said by admitting that was that it was paid for. So thanks for proving my point…

Now cue wanumba response about race, kenya and something else that has nothing to do with this

    Wanumba,

    ………………

You approve of LITERALLY taking FOOD out of the mouths of POOR PEOPLE, UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE and their CHILDREN?

WHat percentage of FOOD STAMPS is BLACK and other “MINORITIES OF COLOR”? Like HISPANICS?

Over-represented, isn’t that what the Democrats have been telling us all for YEARS? That we need to INCREASE FOOD STAMPS so POOR PEOPLE won’t STARVE? That we are RACISTS if we don’t approve ALL requests for additional funding for FOOD STAMPS?

  10. wanumba says:

Second question has to be answered:
If “not a penny was added to the deficit” then WHY did our already horrific national debt, that they created, LEAP in JULY?

There is ONE explanation: They are LYING. They are spending on speed, and no one knows for WHAT.

And one either has to be stupider than a bivalve clam, which actually has a SELF-PRESERVATION instinct to SHUT its shell the second too much goes out – or be pathologically committed to suicidally crashing this nation, and lying at every step to conceal, to deflect the concerns of the PEOPLE who will suffer terribly by the tens of millions if that is allowed to happen.

The Democrats just snatched FOOD out of the mouths of the POOR. Pitting ONE Democrat constituency against the other. Middle Class UNION won over the poor. More CLOUT, more ability to use that money to campaign against Republicans.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama, ALL millionaire Democrats just told the POOR and UNEMPLOYED to EAT DIRT.

  11. wanumba says:

    Jane001 is 100% right.

The upper level Republican leadership of “seasoned senators” of which John McCain is a fixture, plainly grimly determined to be a permanent fixture, has a political opportunity here and squanders it. Again.

They are either incompetent or they deliberate act to squander to continue to enable the Democrat Party. Truly RINOs – Democrats undermining and diluting the hostory, the vision, the platform and the effectiveness of the GOP.

  12. johnny says:

    Wanumba,

To answer your second question… You do realize that other things were passed in july besides the education bill right? So maybe like the war funding added to the deficit? Or another bill that is not subject to paygo…

And thanks for the long rant on race. I never said I liked taking food stamps away… This was a post about the deficit and mccain. The bill cited did not add to the deficit. The CBO said it cuts the deficit by over $1 billion…

You can rant all you want but those are the actual facts as opposed to your conspiracy rants. Which are fun to read of course

    ……………….

    You said THIS:
“Yes part of paying for it was cutting food stamps. In order to pay for things under pay go some things will be sacraficed”
    …………

You absolutely defend a “necessity” to take FOOD out of POOR people’s MOUTHS to fund TEACHERS SALARIES, of which the UNIONS TAKE A CUT.

It’s NOT YOUR SKIN that’s in the game, is it? How much have YOU sacrificed? Could YOU have given up a little of YOUR comfort and STILL been better off than POOR PEOPLE who need FOOD STAMPS to be able to EAT?

You have more margin to spare without starving than the people who’ve been cut out of the FOOD STAMP program for the “emergency” of UNIONS needing MORE MILLIONS.

The Democrats have assured us that MINORIIES, that is “PEOPLE OF COLOR” make up in DISPROPORTIONATE numbers the people who require FOOD STAMPS. ANY proposed cuts in the program have ALWAYS been called by the DEMOCRATS as “RACIST.”

Millionaires Pelosi-Reid-Obama just CUT the FOOD from POOR PEOPLE and gave the money meant for FOOD to UNIONS, in exchange for UNION campaign support to defeat Republicans in November.

“Some things will have to be sacrified.”

    Not “things” – PEOPLE.

  14. johnny says:

I was speaking generally… To cut the deficit things will be sacrificed… I stand by that. That is just a basic fact…

Wanumba it sounds to me like you are saying those that make the big bucks should pay higher taxes so they are “sacrificing” more upto your stands. When I lose half my money income to taxes is that enough? How high do you want to make taxes for people making over 200k, is 60% high enough for you? Is that enough of a sacrifice for you? You sound like nancy pelosi with asking me to sacrifice more.

Also I love how you aren’t even trying to defend how the bill in this post does not add to the deficit anymore. I am glad you came around.

    ……………………..

It’s just a vague, theoretical “generality” to YOU, but the basic FACT is food stamps HAVE BEEN CUT NOW so the DEMOCRATS could divert MILLIONS to UNIONS.

It’s a FACT thousands upon thousands of POOR and UNEMPLOYED Americans who are disproportionately minority will have LESS to eat next month, thanks to the Democrats who CLAIM they “care.” The POOR and UNEMPLOYED will NOTICE it, but YOU won’t because it’s NOT YOU who’s losing meals.

But you’re okay with the POOR having LESS to eat:
Johnny says: “To cut the deficit things will be sacrificed… I stand by that.”

The Democrats have NOT cut FOOD STAMPS to CUT the DEFICIT. They are cutting food stamps so they can DIVERT the food money to UNIONS.

Starve the poor. UNIONS need the money MORE.

    ………………………..

It sounds to me like you need a competent interpreter to help you out.

  17. johnny says:

Well then wanumba what would you like me to sacrifice that I haven’t already if you aren’t talking about income?

Would you like me to give my time and energy to help the poor I already do that… So please explain since I lack a fundamental understanding of what you said, enlighten me…

  18. wanumba says:

You don’t want to talk about your unconditional approval of the fact that the Democrats took money from food stamps to pay unions, because poor people matter LESS to Democrats than the Unions and the November elections, do you?

So, what do you DO for the “poor?” If the Democrats hadn’t evicerated our economy these past four years starting with Pelosi taking the Speaker’s gavel and announcing with mocking glee it was a “new game in town” we’d have JOBS. Then the poor could be WORKING and improving their standard of living, sparing them the humiliation of standing in lines at the local shelter having Liberal Lefties full of condescending patronizing superiority slop their picnic leftovers on plates for them to eat and be told they should be thankful they have betters who take care of them.

Unemployment is a disaster right now, and worsening. There are more people on food stamps right now because they’ve been devastated economically. But, Pelosi-Reid-Obama are partying like there’s no tomorrow, while they tell us WE need to “sacrifice” to cut a deficit THEY blew past Jupiter. Pelosi NEEDS that taxpayer funded jet though. Michelle NEEDS a tax-payer-funded vacation in Spain, the Obamas NEED $100/pound steak for their White House parties for their glitzy multi-millionaire friends. What? Our US steak ain’t GOOD enough for them? Over HALF of the actual COST of Japanese gourmet steak is TAX, not any special juicy genes.
The TARP funds bailed out FOREIGN companies. The food stamps money is going to UNIONS.

WE THE PEOPLE are being robbed blind by a rapacious political party of out-of-control gluttons. The poor and unemployed, being the most disenfranchised, are going to have to “sacrifice” right NOW for the Democrats: give up EATING so the UNIONS and their over-stuffed overweight union bosses with diamond rings and fancy cars can run campaign ads against the GOP so the Democrats can stay in power and continue their burn through our economy.

Remember, Nancy Pelosi called the Reps BACK into session JUST to take FOOD out of the mouths of the POOR to GIVE it to UNIONS.
It was URGENT. A Democrat Party EMERGENCY.

Nancy likes having that plane. She don’t want to experience the horror of having to pay her way come January 2011. Harry Reid dosn’t want to be just one of the riff-raff.

  19. johnny says:

Thanks for the rant and not addressing my comment.

I don’t unconditionally support the idea of talking away food stamps all I am saying is at somepoint to pay for other programs others have to be cut. I don’t necessarily agree that we should cut food stamps but the dems did something that made it deficit neutral. Which did not add to the deficit… One of the main points of this post was that the deficit is out of control and it is but this particular bill did not add to it… So back to originally what I said… This was a bad example of a bill, there are so many other things we can go after the dems on and this is just not one of them.

    ……………

Your theoretical “some point” just HIT MILLIONS of POOR PEOPLE. Their FOOD STAMPS have been CUT BACK to divert the money to UNIONS. It’s not theoretical to THEM. They will have MEASURABLY LESS to EAT next month, FOOD STAMPS HAVE BEEN CUT.

Nancy Pelosi called BACK Congress for a SPECIAL SESSION to make this EMERGENCY CHANGE.

You continue to approve of the Democrats TAKING FOOD from the POOR and UNEMPLOYED to redirect the money to FAT CAT UNIONS so they can use it for the November elections to keep greedy multi-millionaire Democrats in power, who have PROVED by their ACTIONS they think NOTHING of starving people to get what they want.

  21. wanumba says:

To add insut to injury, our teachers have “facilitated” this nation to dead LAST in international academic achievement amongst developed countries.
But, they NEED their salaries for a now worthless service they provide so the unions can get their automatic cut worth millions while the kids they claim “care” about go HUNGRY.

  22. johnny says:

I asked you like 6 posts ago about what it is you want me to sacrifice more than I already do… I am still waiting. The rants are great to laugh at though, thanks!

  23. wanumba says:

You said you “expect” sacrifice, not that you’ve had to yet and you are FINE with POOR PEOPLE being FORCED to “sacrifice” NOW, while YOU still have food. The POOR and UNEMPLOYED didn’t have a SAY in the matter, of FOOD STAMPS VERSUS UNIONS, did they?
DO you really believe they would have AGREED to have their FOOD CUT had they been ASKED?

    SO it’s NOT a free-will “sacrifice” is it? It’s a TAKING.

Filthy RICH DEMOCRATS TAKING FOOD from the POOR – an EMERGENCY worthy of some Third WORLD cleptocracy to protect their political seats so Democrats can FORCE MORE PEOPLE to “sacrifice” for the DEBT they made by rabidly out of control spending.

Everytime you lift that fork to your mouth, think that YOU approve that millions of people NEXT MONTH will be going HUNGRY, while Union Fat Cats in expensive cars and tailored suits to hide their ample bellies, sit down to lunch in luxurious restaurants with the elite multi-millionaire Democrats, stuffing their faces on arugula and lobster, to plan their campaign strategies to keep the “mean old Republicans ” OUT of office forever.

You’re too dishonest to admit you don’t care.

  24. johnny says:

So by your standards everyone person who has food now and isn’t revolting doesn’t care about poor people… I can’t say I put much stock in what you think I think…

And you obviously can’t read you said previously I don’t sacrifice… And I said when my income is taxed at basically 50% am I not sacrificing? Would you like my taxes to be 80% or 90%? And then I compared what you are implying to the likes of pelosi who would love to tax people at ridiculous rates.

So tell me again how should I sacrifice? What more would you like me to do besides paying more than far shar of taxes, giving my time to charitable causes and giving my money?

  25. wanumba says:

Why is the word “sacrifice” being used to describe a “taking” from the poor to be handed to Unions so they have full campaign coffers to be used against Republicans?

Since you purposely misuse the word, an enabling of our representatives to take our money and resources without consulting the PEOPLE as to how it should be used, then so what? The Democrats are literally willing to deny food to citizens to get that money.

  26. johnny says:

aah so because you cant answer my question you resort to word play after not bringing it up in ANY of the other posts.

Good job at dodging the actual question and thanks for proving you cant answer it.
