Tonight, I interviewed Guy Phillips, a conservative candidate for Scottsdale City Council. There’s six people in the race running for three open seats and that somehow avoids a primary (three Republicans and three Democrat candidates?), so, Mr. Phillips’ name will be on the November 2nd ballot. I wish him a lot of luck. City politics aren’t known for conservatism and neither is Scottsdale. We need conservatives in office at ALL levels of government.
Grassroots Interviews with Scottsdale City Council Candidate Guy Phillips

First off the city council race is non-partisan. Second, there are two candidates for each seat, so there is no need for a primary. Third, Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane is a conservative. And yeah, Scottsdale is mostly in CD5, not CD6. Fair enough, because the guy you’re interviewing doesn’t know what congressional district he’s in either.
You guys are successfully demonstrating one boneheaded performance after another. And the ads that pop up at the bottom of the video are just irritating.
Garlic, Tucson Tech, Wooden Teeth, and a host of other pseudonyms,
I’ll admit, city politics is not my strong suit, but since you saw the ads at the bottom, you should recall that I asked whether or not the race was partisan during the interview.
As for the ads, ustream.tv controls that. Have a word with them, will you? I hate them too. Perhaps your winning personality will convince them to make the ads disappear and will magically make revenue flow into their coffers. My guess is that you’re one of the types that begrudges anyone for making a profit. Perhaps Obama’s statement that there’s a point where profit becomes too much is to your liking?
You mean strong suite, not suit. Not sure what your point about profit is. This is a blog, right? I assume you do the videos yourself, but that the video file host ustream.tv puts the ads overlaid on the video itself in exchange for free (to you) hosting?
Wouldn’t you just put the ads on SA itself? I’m sure having the entire site, not just the videos, generating revenue would be more profitable.
Again, you don’t have to hurl insults at your critics. Just spend the time defending your work as best you can and pretty soon you’ll get to the point that you’ll realize that much of your hard work is not worthwhile. You see, I am trying to help you fail so you’ll start over sooner rather than later. Move closer to the camera, closer to the subject, and stop reading your script. Read ANY book or even online guide to video interview production and because you seem like a smart guy trying to create value you need to understand there is a right way to do it.
Nope, Wooden Teeth, I mean suit, pronounced like the clothing you wear or a suit in a deck of cards (hearts, clubs, etc.). Suite is pronounced sweet. No one says strong sweet, they say strong suit. You can look up the term on thefreedictionary.com and answers.com.
Again, ustream has total control of the ads. We don’t ask for ads to be placed there, they just add them…it’s their site and they’re allowed to do with it what they will.
As for reading the script, you can donate the money for teleprompters on grassrootsinterviews.com.
