The crazed effort of Team Hayworth, currently being driven by desperation and fueled by a lethal combination of ignorance and arrogance, is imploding as the failed endeavor of the scandal plagued former Congressman commits to his own personal destruction. When the Rasmussen poll, which the campaign had touted as the “realistic poll”, delivered the news that “Huckster Hayworth” is down by at least 20 points in the primary and trailing the Democrat in the general, the highly charged rhetoric ramped up. The results have been particularly pathetic and will follow him long after his defeat has been recorded; if the huge vote margin in his loss is not enough to end his future, once again his judgment has been.
Last week Team Hayworth released an ad that took a 3-word excerpt out of context from one of Sen. McCain’s books from 2002 and used it to call him a liar…while in the ad of course, they lied about things attributed to Sen. McCain. The non-profit group Factcheck.org calls it misleading and untrue. Of course that can’t be allowed…so JD attacks Factcheck.org. No surprise there! JD never does anything wrong! Remember, “buyer beware“.
Judicial Watch lists JD on their Political Corruption page, noting he was among those who refused to return the money they took from Jack Abramoff or thru his efforts. JD denies it was Abramoff who gave him the loot….even though he used his skyboxes for fundraisers illegally 5 times. Deny. Blame others. Deny. Blame others.
Others are also refusing to part with some big Abramoff-connected bucks. For instance, Democrat Senator Patty Murray of Washington will keep $41,000, Democrat Representative Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island will keep $42,500, Democrat Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington will keep $10,000 and Republican Representative J.D. Hayworth of Arizona will not part with $150,000.
That story reminds me of the old Sesame Street jingle…”one of these things is not like the other…” All Dems BUT good ol’ J-D Hay-worth.
In a hamfisted effort to make some of the best news to hit Arizona in awhile a bad thing, and counter the positive media Sen. McCain received, Rachel Alexander (the campaign social media director) calls McCain out for his work to protect LAFB and gain the preferential location for the F-35. Pork. She called it pork. Keeping Luke open, gaining a program that will serve our nation well…pork?
Next time some soldier on the ground needs air support…let’s see if they think of that highly skilled fighter pilot as a pork barrel commodity. Or what makes it possible for them to come home…alive.
JD will attack anyone who stands in his way with vile and venom. The truth is what he needs it to be. His personal brand of right makes might mentality is all he needs to motivate his actions.
Last week, in the sure sign that JD has lost it…he makes an unprovoked attack on the Bush family! The candidate running in Arizona was on a Baltimore radio station when he unloaded on the former POTUS.
I know he is a big spender, but now he attacks Bush? Is he channeling Obama? Attacking President Bush wasn’t enough, he had to go after the whole family! Sounds like someone didn’t get an endorsement they wanted…
The sad fact about the Bush family is this stubborn notion of noblesse oblige, combined with verbal dyslexia.” JD Hayworth
This after he attacked Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, calling him a racist, drawing the ire of police organizations around the state. What should we expect? After all, Sheriff Babeu endorsed Sen. McCain.
The commonly held understanding that JD is unelectable has been met with disbelief among the true believers as they cling to some hope that maybe, just maybe, they could pull this thing out. McCain Derangement Syndrome has invaded the inner most actions of JD and his followers. The attacks, distorted reality, and the search for an enemy behind every word have made the demise pitiful but certainly not endearing.
It is like watching the sailing and the ultimate sinking of The Titanic. Lots of build up, big promises, all based on the denial of the obvious with no vision for the true course ahead, followed by a crash that leaves few survivors and an ending that leaves the ship at the bottom of the ocean never to sail again.

Molly,
I guess you never got the memo:
This straight off of the Freedom in Truth website:
My name is J. D. Hayworth, and I represented Arizona as a United States Congressman from 1995-2007. To this day, journalists and bloggers inaccurately refer to my “ties” to Jack Abramoff. Here’s what really happened, and why it’s important for you to know the truth.
After the 2006 election was history, my staff and I were packing up the D.C. office to return to Arizona. As this was happening, an attorney from the Department of Justice called and told us “Don’t throw away anything!” This attorney, his curiousity piqued by press accounts attempting to link me with the criminal Jack Abramoff, had decided to look into these allegations.
Prior to the 2006 campaign, some of my opponents and their allies created a very clever scheme: Link Abramoff to their political targets using a ‘bridge’ of Indian tribes who contributed to people like me.
It’s a simple and very devastating attack strategy: Make a claim through some intermediaries, or off the record, that Abramoff is directing the Indian tribes to make campaign contributions to their opponents. Then force the opponents to waste money, time, and energy fighting that battle instead of the one they should be fighting: for their constituents. As an added bonus, if they can stir the pot enough, they can get official investigators interested in the issue under the guise of “If there’s this much smoke, there must be a fire around here somewhere”. This causes even more distraction, more wasted money, and more wasted time.
Ethical? No.
Effective? Very.
Here are the simple facts:
Abramoff contributed a grand total of $2,250 dollars to my political efforts. ($250 in 1996, $1,000 in 1998, and $1,000 to our leadership political action committee, TEAMPAC, in 1999.)
I never met with Abramoff concerning any legislation.
He never came to my office.
He never lobbied me directly on any issue.
Once Abramoff’s troubling activities were revealed, we donated that money to charity (Hurricane Katrina relief). Simply put, we didn’t want it.Please understand, the Indian tribes were the true targets of Abramoff, I was simply collateral damage. The tribes were his clients and they were defrauded of tens of millions of dollars. Our office offered to return their contributions to them, but tribal officials stepped up to the plate and stated for the record that they themselves had made their own determinations about who they would support with political donations.
In the meantime, we cooperated fully with the Department of Justice, and hopefully our efforts helped in the indictment and conviction of Abramoff. Of course, we will never know that for certain. What we do know is that he is currently incarcerated for defrauding the Indian tribes, conspiracy, and corruption of public officials.
These days, ‘cooperation’ is expensive. Very expensive. In our case, it involved retaining a K Street Law Firm to pore over twelve years worth of my congressional records and correspondance. Twelve years of household records is bad enough, but Congress runs on paper and e-mails, and it was literally thousands of pages and hundreds of computer records that had to be examined, evaluated, and sometimes redacted for security reasons. Then you can add the administrative costs, phone calls, and ‘face time’ the attorneys spent with the DOJ. When all was said and done, the legal bill was over a half a million dollars. And that was to ‘cooperate’ with the DOJ!
In the end, we were completely vindicated. In a letter from our attorneys, they informed us that the Department of Justice had advised us that we “are not now the target, subject or focus [of] any DOJ investigation, case or other proceeding.” Essentially, it was a complete and total vindication that we had done nothing wrong at all – which is exactly what we had been saying all along.
We used all of what was left in the campaign account to partially pay the legal bills, but came up $285,000 short. Recently, the law firm proposed to us that they could accept half the outstanding debt as payment, so we now owe $42,168. But, there’s a catch (there always is one). It has to be paid before May 31, 2010.
So, we established the Freedom In Truth Trust solely to help retire this outstanding bill. It’s not a political thing, so there’s no limit on what you could contribute. On the downside, it’s not tax-deductible either.
I have always tried to be honest and aboveboard in my dealings in private as well as publicly in Congress. As you can see from the above, even being cooperative, honest, and truthful can be twisted against you. So, I am asking for your financial help in getting the legal debt resolved. After that is done, other important decisions can be made with a clear field ahead. As is often said: One step at a time.
Re: the swipe at W.
I don’t have a ton of interest in McCain v. Hayworth, but JD needs to relax because he’s seems as though he’s coming unhinged and it’s causing him to make bad decisions.
Though I disagreed with him, I was willing to look past him going after Babeu because the sheriff is a player (albeit a small one) in the race. But taking a swipe at W for no good reason is really out of left field and unnecessary.
(I await subsequent comments to point out what a dirty dog McCain is.)
Molly,
I chuckled when I read this in your post:
That story reminds me of the old Sesame Street jingle…”one of these things is not like the other…” All Dems BUT good ol’ J-D Hay-worth.
The same could be said about McCain in the Keating 5, and that was actually a REAL scandal with REAL corruption.
You McCain people are too much! If McCain is corrupt, that’s excusable, but, if some Republican he is opposing isn’t corrupt, that is somehow NOT excusable.
Maybe a page or so was missing. Mainly the part about the amount of money JD got from the tribal donations versus the amount he gave to charity. And then there is that issue of using Abramoff’s private skyboxes for fundraisers. Five times. Knowingly. Without proper payment.
I didn’t get that part of the memo.
Using lots of words to skirt the issue and go around the real truth in order to convince folks of his version is exactly why he believes in “buyer beware.”
Next refutation:
FactCheck.org is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center which is headed by Kathleen Hall Jamieson. It is fair to say that this organization is steeped in ideologically liberal “change agents.”
According to the Free Republic, “FactCheck.org is a LEFT-BIASED organization that has sold itself as ‘Politically NEUTRAL’ to America’s voters and media personnel.”
I would also suggest you read the article,”Obama’s Lost Annenberg Years Coming to Light” available at American Thinker
Bill,
You have to remember that JD and President Bush had a heated discussion on Air Force One over the approach to solving the illegal alien problem. JD warned the President that the border needed to be secured and existing law needed to be enforced and enhanced.
Remember, at the same time JD had submitted his bill, The Enforcement First Act, John McCain and Ted Kennedy were introducing the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” aka Amnesty bill with the cover of George Bush.
They had a profound disagreement over the solution.
I’m sure JD is fairly frustrated with the treatment of the McCain shills in the media. JD was ahead of his time in 2005 when all this began. Now McCain is playing a pseudo conservative on this issue but we all know that he will resort back to his old ways if he gets reelected.
Let’s get back to the issue of the F-35 and “Pork.”
John McCain has a gross conceptual misunderstanding on the issue of legislatively directed spending. When he “supposedly” lays claim to bringing the F-35 to Luke, one could say he brought the bacon home and accordingly have a tongue in cheek demeanor.
John McCain needs to define what he considers “pork.” The sneaky thing about this is that John McCain likes to tirade against “pork” for Arizona but then Jon Kyl votes for it quietly to ensure it does come home. If that ain’t grandstanding, I don’t know what is.
Back to the F-35, it’s nice to see that John McCain brought something home. After all, when he asked a high ranking member of the USAF who Luke belonged to, wasn’t it John McCain who responded, “This is MY Goddamn F____ing base!” (We thought it belonged to the taxpayers.)
Molly,
JD never called Paul Babeu a racist.
Molly,
I have been PISSED at John McCain for years! Hell, I may have even jumped in the race myself if JD had not have done so!
John McCain dissed me as far back as 1994 when I first ran for office. STRIKE ONE!
He then worked for and passed a bill shutting down the free speech of the pro-life movement through McCain-Feingold. That was a blatant effort to stop the right wing cultural conservatives from speaking our mind on social issues. (John McCain has always been uncomfortable around social conservatives!) – STRIKE TWO!
John McCain then poked another stick in the eye of the pro-life community when he VOTED FOR TAXPAYER FUNDED PORK for destructive embryonic experimentation. I tried to warn his staff that this was a huge mistake and even suggested he vote against the pork as an out. But Arizona’s senior senator screwed us over again – STRIKE THREE!
John McCain was my last choice for the Republican nominee for President. I was NOT going to vote for him but Sarah Palin assuaged my anger and made the vote more palatable. You can go back and read the archives here of my distaste and distrust of John McCain.
Sure, you can call me a “JD Follower” and even if I were not compensated for my time on the campaign, I would still be working very hard to elect JD because I know the A#*@&& that John McCain really is!
There are a lot of people across the State of Arizona who feel and believe the same way I do. It’s not easy to find them. We’re all around you!
Finally, it’s no secret that President George W. Bush had “a way with words.” I’m sure you even rolled your eyes when you heard some of his very public gaffs. Let’s not confuse actual medical dyslexia with just plain getting tongue tied.
Incidentally, we know John McCain certainly didn’t have a problem not responding and fighting back when he was running for President. Imagine if he had called Senator Barack Obama a “pig.” So much for acting senatorial.
Molly Pitcher / Ann / Lisa James,
I would like to know when you find the time to work for the taxpayers who pay your salary as John Shadegg’s Chief of Staff, because you spend an awfully large amount of time writing nasty articles and leaving comments against Hayworth on this blog. Isn’t it a campaign finance violation to be working on your paid John McCain campaign while you’re sitting in Shadegg’s government office supposedly working for the taxpayers? How much are we paying you? Heard your salary is over $100k. Wish I could sit around and make that much money off the taxpayers for attacking conservative Hayworth.
Shane – it’s sad that you only have righteous indignation for a couple of issues.
Your site has promoted a woman using her children to do immoral things like hit people and be disrespectful. You don’t seem to have a problem with that – in the name of JD Hayworth.
You don’t seem to have a problem with your site being used to libel Lisa James, and others, – constantly – in the name of JD Hayworth.
There are a lot of us who have disagreed with Senator McCain on issues. But we have also disagreed with Hayworth on a lot of issues, too. Also, many of your complaints against McCain are complaints that many of us have against Hayworth, too.
But we have decided to support Senator McCain over Hayworth. It’s a legitimate decision made with care, conern and thoughtfulness. Unfortunately, the Hayworth crowd feels the need to go nuclear if anyone evens mentions that they are supporting McCain. They feel they need to defame, denounce and discredit anyone – randomly, and without facts, simply based on their decision to support McCain.
I have posted comments on this site for years and fought only with liberals. Not until I voiced my support for Senator McCain did I get attacked – with lies, on a personal level – repeatedly and with intent to destroy – from Republicans. The funny part is that I don’t disagree with some of their positions, but they went after blood from me by lying about me, lying about what I believe – and about the poor guy they thought I was – and then just attacking.
You want everyone to understand why you are opposing Senator McCain – because he dissed you, because he has a temper, etc. – well, take a look in the mirror.
Travis,
If you can support Sen. McCain after you see his speech to ACORN and LaRaza, you aren’t a conservative. You are the kind of voter that will make the Republican party irrelevant soon. The Tea Party will get disgusted and start a third party. Americans are sick of politicians who lie to get elected. Republicans should be too.
This is the final round of attacks by the Godfather of Socialized Medical Care and Amnesty for illegal aliens, John McCain, and his entourage of desperate, highly-paid consultants who threw the presidential election to Maobama and company due to ineptness and poor advice.
Soon, they’ll all be looking for jobs at Toy-R-Us stuffing Santa stockings with Baby Gee, the little Giraffe character of yesteryear, while John McCain relocates back East to be near Boggy Creek to fish in retirement for crawdads with Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn: http://tinyurl.com/27lorct
@Travis
It appears the GOP is at a crossroads, doesn’t it? On one side we have “Progressives” like McCain who feel being “bi-partisan” means moving more and more to the left in the spirit of “compromise”
I say if that is the direction you want – why not be honest with yourself and change your party affiliation to Democrat?
And please, spare us the crocodile tears. Oh this woman does immoral things with her kids blah blah blah. Again, if you believe having conservative principals “immoral” do yourself a favor and switch party affiliation.
That new attack ad of McCain’s with the words lobbyist on it strikes me as hypocritical, namely because one of the folks in it is Stan Barnes – Lobbyist!
Hey- Lisa James does not post here. Shane has confirmed this.
I know who Molly Pitcher is and she is witty, sarcastic and has a pair bigger than most men. Lisa James is none of those things. Who gives a hoot how much she makes at her job? What will be interesting is to see if she can get herself hired by whomever wins the sear . If not, will she be back running for Party Chair hoping 3rd time is a charm. Be scared, be very scared.
Again, I will remind those reading the comments here that Lisa James has nothing to do with this site. PLEASE leave her out of any comments!
OK All, I see the McCain folks are really afraid. JD you latest commercial is hitting home. You go JD, you go.
Molly your so called man of integrity McLouse has betrayed us for the last time, he is keeping Deakin in the race to draw votes from JD, but we got it going forward. McCain is actually admitting he is going to reintroduce Amnesty if he is reelected. He is desperate for any vote he can get. Betray the real Americans who cares as long as he keeps his power?
Did any of you hear McCain friday on radio, OMG he made a fool of himself, good thing you came on after him JD. McCain is trying to buy this election, what happened to keeping the money out of politics, not according to Johnny McNasty.
JD was right about Bush and immigration. The McCain, Kennedy,Obama,Bush immigration reform bill caused many Republicans to lose elections in 2006.
McCain and Bush put the wood to several conservative candidates that were running for office that year because they did not agree with their immigation policy. (ask Duncan Hunter,Tom Tancredo and Randy Graff)
Now suddenly McCain wants us to belive he
wants to “to Build the Darn fence”.
By the way what happened to McCain’s 10 point plan to secure the border? I guess he did not do much reaching across the asile to all his Democrat friends for this one.
Ouch. DOD is whacking out a major base in Virginia for “cost savings.” VA – Republicans get shafted again by Democrats.
SO, by what means is (R) McCain “PROTECTING OUR BASES?” from the Democrat ax? All he’s got right now is a “final decison in 2011, pending the environment impact assement.”
Kiss of death if historical evidence of the usual outcome of the convergence of ‘Democrats’ and ‘environmental impact assessment’ is considered. McCain looked a little uncomfortable – as if he’s worried his across the aisle political ‘friends’ might just announce before the primary that Luke AFB is on the chopping block.
Naww.
If you are a Republican, at what point do you wonder why JD would continue on. IF JD went against Glassman, he would lose. Why on earth would JD want to send another Democrat back to Washington. JD did enough damage sending Harry Mitchell, the last thing we need is for him to send Glassman there also. Vote McCain if you want any checks and balances in Washington, he is our only shot at fighting this extreme administration.
